⚠️ ATTENTION ⚠️ Wedding ⚠️ Rip-off ⚠️ 0% goodwill ⚠️ no empathy ⚠️ We wanted to celebrate our wedding at the Quinta in 2021. Due to Corona, the death of our daughter and the death of my father with cancer, the wedding could unfortunately not take place. For the deposit already paid, we wanted to go on vacation instead. Here we were told that this was only possible for half of the deposit - without any explanation why. We have tried countless times to contact the Quinta to find a solution. Our requests were simply ignored. We are unbelievable, disappointed and speechless about the behavior shown and would not recommend anyone to plan and celebrate a wedding there.

Beautiful in every sense. Peaceful, relaxing and a mixture between under rated luxury, boho hippie chic, rustic charm. Beautiful pool, restaurant, nature all around where a variety of different flowing sets allow one to truly relax. The Spa is also very good and the staff is always helpful, available and friendly. Suited for couples, families or just individuals looking for some time off from busy city places. Loved every minute ( and my cat enjoyed it as well) and will definitely return soon.

I had my wedding at Quinta dos Machados recently and it was a bitter-sweet experience. I booked my wedding here mainly because of the convenience of having lodging on site, but it actually turned out to be a nightmare. The food during the reception, serving staff, and location were great! The rest I wish I could forget. We arrived at 10am to start getting ready and we were given a large living room for that purpose. At 11am (normal checkout time) the guests currently staying there refused to leave and the hotel chose to do nothing about it. They assured us that they were cleaning the rooms we requested to be prioritized for us to get ready in, and that we would be contacted when they were ready. 11am-nothing. 12-nothing. 1-nothing. We kept checking with front desk and they said the same thing - our rooms are being cleaned. All of our guests had their rooms before I did. I only got somewhere to change at 4:20 (10 minutes before the start of my ceremony). This was only because my mother insisted that we use the rooms while they were still being cleaned, but we had no choice because the living room we were using had no curtains and therefore no privacy for me to change in. I had 10 minutes to get dressed for one of the most important days of my life. What upsets me the most, is because I waited SIX HOURS for a room, I didn't have a chance to take any getting ready pictures with my bridesmaids, no pre-ceremony pictures with my family. Did I mention the same thing happened to my husband? He also only got a room at the very last minute, and missed out on all these moments that we will never get back. I can't even describe how upset and stressed this made my parents. (To clarify, that was my parent's room - I came and went without ever getting a room). Also, why our guests checking in needed to provide identification for everyone in the room (not just the person booking) is beyond me. Several of my guests had to go back to the hotel they were staying at before to get their passports. Had this been told to me before, I would have warned them. I had also been staying in Portugal for several weeks, at multiple hotels, and this was the first time this happened. Also, my guests were left very unimpressed by the slow and unproductive check-in process, which leaves me extremely embarrassed for bringing them here. Thankfully the ceremony went ok, the food at the reception was great, the serving staff was great, and the location was beautiful. Aside from the fact that my bridesmaid had to uncover the ceremony benches at the last minute because no one else did it. And aside from the fact that none of my guests were served wedding cake, like they were suppose to have, and our signature drink was only available for a limited time. Overall, if you're looking for a beautiful place to get married and eat well, this is a good choice. If you also need a place to stay, run the other way. It ruined half of my wedding day, and it's been over a month and no one has had the decency to reach out and provide an explanation, or even a simple apology. Very dissappointed, for such an important day of my life.

Disappointing. We travelled from the UK for a close friend’s wedding. Rooms were reported as being available from 4pm, but ours was still not ready at 5.25pm (when we were finally allowed the key but the room was not yet cleaned!). To put this in context, the ceremony was at 5.30. I forwent a shower, getting ready in the spa bathroom, and my fiancé showered at the pool and got ready in the car park, which I’m sure that even the most well-natured guest will agree is not good enough. The reception staff were asking for our understanding given that they had a large party leave the same day, but didn’t acknowledge the pressure that they were putting on the incoming guests. I had the feeling that this was not an uncommon occurrence between weddings. Recommendations for improvement: have an area that guests can get ready in if their rooms are not ready and clearly communicate this when guests are initially booking in; allow guests into their rooms with the proviso that cleaners may be working around them; or prioritise cleaning of the bathrooms and change sheets etc when the guests are in the ceremony. The ceremony itself was lovely and the venue did a good job of the catering, just a shame about the first impressions!

Magic place! quiet and peaceful surrounded by an amazing forest. The kitchen staff was nice, the food was just fine, the brunch was good and abundant. Loved the small library displayed on a small trailer outside on the woods :) The swimming pool was ok. I definitely recommend this place. Only one less positive detail: some guests had to wait too long to do their check in.

We had our wedding here recently and we cannot rate it highly enough. The service was amazing, the venue beautiful and the price very competitive. We're so grateful for the care they took for our special day. Highly recommend.

Everything was great here!!! The place, the food, and the most important, the dog, Café. A great place to relax, to enjoy the silence. Romantic indeed. Café the dog it's the kind of dog that brings joy and at the same time, peace =) just adore him!

Room is ok. Not enough room for two big luggages unless you remove a chair and put it on balcony. No hooks for towels. Bathroom did smell of mould as did the towels. Breakfast was average.

This is a beautiful compound with lots of thoughtful well-maintained outdoor areas to relax and explore and attractive interior architecture blending old and new. However the lack of customer service was evident in every interaction we had. At check in we received no friendly greeting, no explanation of the facilities available, the surrounding area or even given a time for breakfast. When we were shown our room we were required to trek back down to reception to get our pool towels rather than them offering to bring them up to us. We then realised that the room did not have a bathtub as advertised on their website for all deluxe rooms and so asked to be changed which was done but with little grace. We were also not provided with any spa robes or slippers which others appeared to have (probably yet another thing you are supposed to ask for at reception rather than being offered). The dinner was equally a disappointing with a 30 minute wait from seating to our order being taken. The covert then arrived (45 minutes after sitting) with stale bread, butter, olives and oil but no cheese as is usually included in a decent covert. The salmon main was very over cooked and served with luke warm sweet potato mash and reheated frozen baby carrots. In conclusion although there were a couple of nice staff members and obviously a good gardener, anyone in a position of authority clearly views the guests as an inconvenience and has no interest in hospitality whatsoever. The real shame of this place is it has such potential but we certainly won’t be back.

Very nice for a weekend hetaway from Lisbon. Do not expect a 4 star hotel and do not go there for the spa. Rooms are rather basic and the spa is quite inexistent for the hotel size. The exterior pool IS nice and big. I recommend the restaurant. Great service and affordable.

Stayed here for a few days for a friend's wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful! The staff were friendly, the setting was so pretty, and the wedding was perfect.

They sell it as a quiet place, but it can get really really noisy if there are weddings, which is very common. If so, you won't be able to sleep until 4 am. So be careful with this place, as on top of this, it's usually quite expensive.

Very disappointed with our stay here.Room 26 had a terrible smell coming from the shower drain hole, which they seemed unable to fix. Breakfast on the Sunday morning had to be asked for as they were only catering for a wedding brunch. The one positive was that most of the staff were wonderful.

Great place to spend some days in harmony with the nature. The place is huge and you can walk by the property freely and get to the nearest towns with some indications that they have placed. The rooms for two and really small with almost no space to walk due to the bed and closet.

For a place that offers premium rooms for 135€ a night, and writes itself up as a serene and quiet country hotel, there were a lot of annoying things going on. The hotel is run by very unprofessional people. The restaurant is a lot better, and matches the price to its quality. A short list of the issues we found with the hotel, its staff, and the general organization of the place. We stayed 2 nights: - Non-smoking room, but the staff smokes directly below the balcony, offering free nicotine and smoke smell in our, and all other premium rooms. - Forgetting toilet paper after cleaning the room. Can happen. Still not a good sign. - Staff kept forgetting services on offer (in our case babysitting). If you put some fancy brochure in the room, you better read our yourself first. - Construction work during breakfast in the same room. Really. This could not wait until after breakfast? Grinders on stone, sanding machines, generators... What about being a serene and quiet hotel? - Staff kept changing rates during a reservation date change. This would be understandable, were it not that the price change was for the same night. Incompetence or a rip off, I don't know. But it sure was annoying. - The reception was unreachable most of the time. (Probably on a smoke break beneath our window.) - There was a large water puddle in the only entrance to breakfast room. You know, one of those you actually slip on when you don't see it. - After mentioning we travel with a one year old, have unprotected power sockets all over the room, a crib that doesn't fit the room (way to big). - Hotel advertises with ' quiet and serene country atmosphere ', but we get cars racing by, construction work from 8 until 21 hours, loud personnel, police cars, staff yapping underneath the window while smoking, and general annoyances. - There are pieces of construction materials (pipe) 'stored' directly on front of our window and balcony: so our 'Premium' room has a view of unfinished construction, a barbed wire fence, trash, and the air vent outlet for the whole hotel. Sorry guys. I know you try to play big fancy hotel. But for that to work, you need capable staff, and a semblance of the offer you advertise in the actual service you return. I'm being a comp of done kind would have mellowed my review, since I understand construction is a temporary thing, but you handled the communication with us so badly that I do not believe you deserve more than one star.

Beautiful place! Nice clean rooms. Fantastic pool area with interesting wooded area to explore outback. Great food in the restaurant. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Amazing staff - particular shout-out to Marcos for his helpful, friendly, professional attitude. Just a shame we had to leave, really!

Nice hotel in a good location for a visit to Lisboa area. We stayed in new building. Friendly staff. Good food. We had noisy neighbours but it was no problem to get another room. The only little minus was the spa which need a bit more maintenance.

When we arrive and take the first views there is a clear rustic place, but then the rooms are clearly vintage rustic chic. It is really a country house spa relax kind of place. The breakfast could have some more options, but all the food is very tasty. I think it's a little expensive for all the experience and location. I guess i could not be easy to get some rest at wedding days

Good space for events. The only bad thing was that they ran out of beer incredibly quick
