I
had
my
wedding
at
Quinta
dos
Machados
recently
and
it
was
a
bitter-sweet
experience.
I
booked
my
wedding
here
mainly
because
of
the
convenience
of
having
lodging
on
site,
but
it
actually
turned
out
to
be
a
nightmare.
The
food
during
the
reception,
serving
staff,
and
location
were
great!
The
rest
I
wish
I
could
forget.
We
arrived
at
10am
to
start
getting
ready
and
we
were
given
a
large
living
room
for
that
purpose.
At
11am
(normal
checkout
time)
the
guests
currently
staying
there
refused
to
leave
and
the
hotel
chose
to
do
nothing
about
it.
They
assured
us
that
they
were
cleaning
the
rooms
we
requested
to
be
prioritized
for
us
to
get
ready
in,
and
that
we
would
be
contacted
when
they
were
ready.
11am-nothing.
12-nothing.
1-nothing.
We
kept
checking
with
front
desk
and
they
said
the
same
thing
-
our
rooms
are
being
cleaned.
All
of
our
guests
had
their
rooms
before
I
did.
I
only
got
somewhere
to
change
at
4:20
(10
minutes
before
the
start
of
my
ceremony).
This
was
only
because
my
mother
insisted
that
we
use
the
rooms
while
they
were
still
being
cleaned,
but
we
had
no
choice
because
the
living
room
we
were
using
had
no
curtains
and
therefore
no
privacy
for
me
to
change
in.
I
had
10
minutes
to
get
dressed
for
one
of
the
most
important
days
of
my
life.
What
upsets
me
the
most,
is
because
I
waited
SIX
HOURS
for
a
room,
I
didn't
have
a
chance
to
take
any
getting
ready
pictures
with
my
bridesmaids,
no
pre-ceremony
pictures
with
my
family.
Did
I
mention
the
same
thing
happened
to
my
husband?
He
also
only
got
a
room
at
the
very
last
minute,
and
missed
out
on
all
these
moments
that
we
will
never
get
back.
I
can't
even
describe
how
upset
and
stressed
this
made
my
parents.
(To
clarify,
that
was
my
parent's
room
-
I
came
and
went
without
ever
getting
a
room).
Also,
why
our
guests
checking
in
needed
to
provide
identification
for
everyone
in
the
room
(not
just
the
person
booking)
is
beyond
me.
Several
of
my
guests
had
to
go
back
to
the
hotel
they
were
staying
at
before
to
get
their
passports.
Had
this
been
told
to
me
before,
I
would
have
warned
them.
I
had
also
been
staying
in
Portugal
for
several
weeks,
at
multiple
hotels,
and
this
was
the
first
time
this
happened.
Also,
my
guests
were
left
very
unimpressed
by
the
slow
and
unproductive
check-in
process,
which
leaves
me
extremely
embarrassed
for
bringing
them
here.
Thankfully
the
ceremony
went
ok,
the
food
at
the
reception
was
great,
the
serving
staff
was
great,
and
the
location
was
beautiful.
Aside
from
the
fact
that
my
bridesmaid
had
to
uncover
the
ceremony
benches
at
the
last
minute
because
no
one
else
did
it.
And
aside
from
the
fact
that
none
of
my
guests
were
served
wedding
cake,
like
they
were
suppose
to
have,
and
our
signature
drink
was
only
available
for
a
limited
time.
Overall,
if
you're
looking
for
a
beautiful
place
to
get
married
and
eat
well,
this
is
a
good
choice.
If
you
also
need
a
place
to
stay,
run
the
other
way.
It
ruined
half
of
my
wedding
day,
and
it's
been
over
a
month
and
no
one
has
had
the
decency
to
reach
out
and
provide
an
explanation,
or
even
a
simple
apology.
Very
dissappointed,
for
such
an
important
day
of
my
life.
