Really enjoyed our holiday there! We were staying 5 nights at the surfcamp. The staff is really friendly and the hostel is situated in the middle of the city. If we go to Ericeira in the future we will totally stay there again!

I stayed here for around 7 days back in September 2022 as a first-time solo traveler. Decided to write a review since it always stuck with me for a long time. I didn't have a good experience staying here. First of all, there was a complete lack of communication regarding my booking confirmation. I had to confirm it with my credit card and the reservation kept expiring. I sent two emails and never got a reply, only on the last day I decided to call them and they said I didn't need to worry and everything was set. Next, on arrival, I was asked to pay a late check-in fee of around 25 euros (iirc), since I arrived at around 11-12pm, which was unexpected. If I knew there would be an extra fee it would be better for me to take an earlier flight, or plan accordingly. This would all have been fine if my stay was great, however, as some others had pointed out. The volunteers were very nice people, but they weren't very accommodating and felt like a separate group of friends. I had a hard time meeting people because the common rooms were empty most of the time. My room was next to a very busy road. On the weekends it was super loud, but it was too warm to close the windows. The location of the house was great though, very central. The rooms were spacious and clean, although a bit aged. So aside from that they were fine. Maybe I can't complain too much about the facilities since the price wasn't very expensive. I did around 8 beginner surf lessons, mostly from Catarina who was such a great and positive instructor. As a beginner, I quickly gained confidence in surfing and really enjoyed it. At the last lesson, I tried the intermediate one and had a bad experience with a different instructor. He gave me zero instructions on how to transition as a beginner or push through a wave. He even occasionally went for a wave himself. Since the waves were quite strong on that day I could barely swim back. Felt quite dangerous at times too. Maybe it was too early for me to try an intermediate lesson, but I would expect the instructors to give me some advice on that. Finally, I did enjoy my surf holiday in Ericeira a lot, but it was sadly not thanks to this place. I can therefore not recommend staying here unless you're on a tight budget. I hope these issues can be solved in the future.

I had a really good week here as a solo traveller. The staff, especially Anastasia and Dia, were very friendly and helpful- they always had lots of time to help with plans for the day and to make the guests feel at home. The rooms were great and so was breakfast and the location

We had a great time here! The hostel has a great location, centrally located in the citycenter and many restaurants are within walking distance, colourful and comfortably furnished rooms, super friendly and helpful staff at the hostel. The surf coaches are absolutely top: helpful tips and satisfying learning curve:) . . . . The surf lessons were the best! Overall a great atmosphere. Anytime again!!!

The perfect place to stay, near the most beautiful beaches and the town to explore...Super clean it has everything you need with the best Surf coaches and staff from Mafalda, Catarina, Luis to D.Isabel everybody will make this a memorable trip👌 meet new people and enjoy it Ericeira is unique.

Highly recommend for surf lessons. The staff were all wonderful. Catarina taught me, my sister and her 9 year daughter and our friend for three days in a row and was above and beyond. She was patient, enthusiastic and positive. We are so grateful we were staying near here and found Catarina for our first attempt at surfing. Thank you Catarina and ESC! You made our visit to ericeira complete! I hope to come back and stay at the hostel for a proper surf camp in the future 💕

Ericeira is a really cool and laid-back place with great beaches, vistas, restaurants, cafés and even nice souvenir shops. The surfcamp is located right in the center, you can reach everything by foot. The house is cool, decorated in a slightly shabby chic surfer vibe; other guests and staff (lots of them voluntaries) were super nice, helpful and cool to get along with; there are different rooms (some with shared bathrooms, others with a private one); kitchen and common room; breakfast is available (not terribly large selection but everything you need and tasty) The well organised surf school (with amazing instructors) and the shop/rental is in the same building and open all day. We had a great time in our surf lessons and even caught some waves! One little drawback: not particularly cheap but the whole experience is totally worth it. Caution: transfer from/to airport is very expensive (80€ for 2 people one direction), try bus / Uber (readily available).

My second stay after ten years. The location is perfect, In the centre of Ericeira.The room, facilities and breakfast was nice and clean. The surf instructors were professional and fun, The team working for the surf shop and accommodation are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend to friends, Solo travelers, Group and family. Obrigada Ericeira Surf camp. And thanks to Xana/Alex for the airport transfer.

One of the girl at the reception is not really nice, no smile, unpleasant ! She doesn’t have the surf spirit 😂 👎 The teachers are really good, prices are a bit expensive, you can find cheaper but its ok. The warm up is quick so you can enjoy a lot in water. One day we were in a group of 4, next day we were a group a 7 (boring you have to wait a lot to take a wave).

We had a great 2 day stay here. The volunteers were very helpful and friendly and everything was well organized. Our room was spacious and everything had a fruit theme which was cute. The surf lessons we booked through them were amazing as well. Luis and Afonso were really helpful and boosted our confidence so we could catch lots of waves!

I stayed at Ericeira Surf Camp for about a week. It was a wonderful and fun experience. The facility and rooms are very clean and comfortable. The employees are very friendly and available to help. The surf lessons were truly awesome and extremely fun. I took my beginner lessons with Mafalda, who is a great instructor and passionate about what she does, and I was able to surf within 2 days. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks!

I stayed at Ericeira surf camp for 5 days. Every day was better than the other. the rooms comfortable, clean, and specious. The common leaving room was a great place to relax. I couldn’t wish for a better staff. all are friendly always with a smile always willing to help. the surf instructors were great - one can see that they love what they do and love to teach. I can describe my stay in one sentence - PURE FUN. I can't wait for the next time. surely I will come again .

Great spot! Very friendly staff, nice sized room as advertised. My wife had her first and second surf lessons ever with their instructors who did a great job and really helped us have fun surfing, which can be a very challenging activity! Breakfast was solid too, and fuelled us well for the surfing adventure. Thanks for having us!

Carmen was so accommodating! We had the place mostly to ourselves but met some really cool people :) So much space and a great location, very clean.

Trully great place. Besides surfing, wich is awesome of course, you will find a lot of open people that you can hang out with. Totally recommend!

Pros: Great location, well-priced lessons, good instructors Cons: Everything else. The place is run by student volunteers so there is zero professionalism. They're all really nice people, but they are exchanging their time for free surf lessons, so they don't care about the well-being of the customers. Do not pay for anything in advance because most services will not be rendered. I paid for an airport transfer and I was told the night before that there are no drivers. So I ended up calling an Uber and never got my 45 euros back. The owner said he'd refund me, but I never got it. For some reason, they refuse to use PayPal or Revolut or Wise or refund via Credit Card.

Really friendly hostel located right in the heart of Ericeira 🌇 Very social vibes, comfortable beds and two times a week there's a tasty BBQ/Burger night on the rooftop! 🍔🥩 Good surf lessons if you want to learn surfing and otherwise there's the option to rent boards too! 🏄🏼‍♂️ Recommended to stay for 1 to 2 weeks to really improve surfing!

Great hostel (free) breakfast, bread/toast, lots of toppings, cereals, muesli, yogurt, milk, juice, tea, coffee. Dorm rooms were good, free wifi, friendly staff and other guests. Great location on the main pedestrian street. Easy to walk to everything. The surf lessons were good, with fun and friendly instructors. Ratios were low with max 5 participants per instructor.

Great surf house in the Center of town. You can also rent boards and wetsuits at a fair price! Willl definitely come again!

This was my first time travelling totally solo and I had the best time! I loved that I booked my room in the really nice and clean hostel and then I could pick and choose when to surf or do yoga either as a lesson or hiring. The team were totally flexible and really nice people to be around too. Thanks for an awesome time - i'll be back for sure!

We've rented and gotten lessons here twice and the staff and the service is very excellent. We got a private guided trip once and that was very special. Surf instruction was awesome but also learning about the region and the history from very passionate local surfers was very cool as well. Very chill vibe and very accommodating. Walking distance to several spots and long walk / bike / short car ride to many many others.

Very nice surf school. Offers high quality classes, although a bit expensive the classes are very helpful and every instructor teaches a group that is no bigger than 5 people, making sure everyone gets adequate care by the instructor. Would recommend to get an beginner lesson if not experienced and then renting a board for a few days somewhere near the beach. Wouldnt get multiple beginner lessons as 1 is enough to get you going. Then after a few days try an intermediate lesson if confident.

Really great place. We booked for a week including surf lessons. Surf teachers are amazing with great energy and its was nice to see they pay a lot of attention to safety. Hostel crew was really kind and made us feel welcome. Also the town in general is a great place to spend the week. Dont forget to book a yoga lesson when you are here.

We had beginner surf lessons and one surfskate lesson! All the instructors were super nice and available. Obviously weather conditions made surfing a bit more pleasant or a bit more difficult but we always had a good time! The camp is nice, clean, organized and is managed by friendly people. Awesome time meeting people worldwide and also chilling at the camp's BBQ night. Just in case of food allergies bring your own things or buy them at shops nearby. You can also cook your own things The position is great, in the center near shops, restaurants and beaches.

Simple place that has a great atmosphere and a good breakfast. The team running the place were great and it was just a very enjoyable stay! The location is also hard to beat.

Great atmosphere at the hostel, we met a lot of nice people and the staff is great and helpful! Accomodation and breakfast are basic but good and the location is really in the centre of Ericeira, which is a plus! Just be sure to bring some earplugs as it can be noisy at night :)

Had a really good week staying at Ericeira Surf Camp. The position is great, really in the centre of town, also very close to a 'Beach Bus' stop which you can use for getting to all the nearby beaches/surf spot. Jens and the team were super helpful and really inclusive. The surf school instructors were great and I made some good progression. Roll on the next surf trip!

This was the highlight of our trip! The room we stayed in and other shared facilities we used were clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. The surf lessons were great as well, with the instructors being super clear and professional. As a couple who has never surfed before we really enjoyed the lessons and felt we learned a lot. Will definitely come back again the next time!

My stay here was great! Would I recommend it to anyone thinking about joining a surf-hostel during times of COVID-19? Yes! Would I return? Absolutely yes! To be fair, hostel-life during times of Corona is different, but this is nothing the hostel can be blamed for. Restrictions make the stay a little more calm than I was expecting but the staff is trying really hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Weekly BBQ, rooftop terrace and warm-hearted staff is everything a hostel really needs. Jens is an absolute treasure to this hostel and the rest of the staff is overwhelmingly friendly, kind and inclusive. Its a funny feeling of home that you experience here. Ericeira has the perfect combination of surf-tourism and authentic Portuguese flair. I most definitely will be back, and the months from August - October are supposed to bring even greater joy. If you are still indecisive whether to join, let me put it differently: 'When in doubt, paddle out'.

I stayed at the camp for a week and everything was just great. Nice and clean hostel with a very homey vibe right in the center of Ericeira. The staff and other guests were so friendly and welcoming and it was really easy to make new friends and have a good time. Also the surf instructors are really good and professional. You really make an improvement taking lessons at the surf school. All my best recommendations for ESC!
