Keepin’It
Real
January

2024
After
trying
several
tourist
traps
on
the
beach
in
the
town
of
Plymouth
this
restaurant
north
of
town
was
recommended
by
my
tour
guide
(DG
Tours).
I
will
preface
my
remarks
with
my
usual
spiel
about
the
ridiculous
reviews
on
Google
that
are
either
fake
postings
or
written
by
sun
and
sand
enamored
tourists
who
give
everything
5
starts,
but
would
never
eat
at
the
place
if
it
were
located
back
home.
Don’t
trust
them.
If
they
don’t
show
interior
pictures
and/or
views
of
the
water,
they
are
probably
fake.
My
reviews
include
interior
photos,
views
to
the
Caribbean,
and
detailed
menus.
I
am
extremely
objective
in
my
evaluations.
Photos
and
menus
will
back
that
up.
View
Exceptional.
Directly
beachfront
on
black
sand.
Many
others
say
this,
but
one
recently
reviewed
by
me
had
a
terrace
view
of
the
back
wall
of
a
scuba
shack.
Look
for
pictures
taken
from
the
restaurant
patio,
framed
so
that
you
can
see
the
real
view
for
dining.
Ambience
Excellent.
Rustic
décor
but
well-appointed
and
organized.
Upper
level
for
large
parties.
Nicest
place
I
have
been
in
Dominica.
(Other
than
the
Intercontinental
Hotel).
Many
places
along
the
beach
on
the
main
drag
in
Portsmouth
are
true
tourist
traps.
They
may
be
beachfront,
but
the
food
is
poor
and
many
times
they
don’t
have
many
of
the
items
on
the
menu.
Often
crowed
with
locals,
just
hanging
out.
Food.
Probably
the
most
overrated
aspect
of
Google
reviews.
Most
places
have
3
items
(fish,
shrimp,
and
lobster)
and
one
side
of
rice.
Fish
is
often
indistinguishable
from
pork
as
they
use
the
same
seasonings.
With
shrimp,
you
usually
get
6
small
shrimp
for
the
price.
The
menu
at
Keepin’It
Real
is
extensive.
See
my
photos.
Most
platters
include
3-4
sides.
The
portions
are
large
and
well
prepared.
Service
was
as
good
as
any.
Best
island
food
I
have
experienced.
The
menu
includes
several
“kids”
items
should
you
bring
children.
Location
Beautiful
and
quiet,
although
about
3
miles
north
of
town.
Only
locals
“in
the
know”
and
with
the
money
for
excellent
food
eat
here.
Walking
would
be
a
challenge
not
only
for
distance,
but
also
for
the
steep
hills
and
switch
backs.
So
far
my
best
experience
on
this
trip.
Good
Luck!
PS.
Returned
for
a
sec
on
time.
I
had
the
lobster.
Photo
attached.
$39
USD.
Compared
to
the
Intercontinental
which
was
tough
the
lobster
at
KIR
was
tender
and
easy
to
remove
from
the
shell.
A
good
portion
as
well.
