Truly amazing. My friends and I followed the yellow trail down to the water (outlined by yellow paint markings), starting from the university bus stop and were genuinely stunned by the beauty that surrounded us. The walk from the university to the water took us around 1 hour and 15mins. There was an incomparable sense of satisfaction once we began to see the coastline, around halfway through the walk. Majority of the path was just easy walking through the mountain, the only tricky part was when we began to descend to the water and were unexpectedly presented with a steep rock and chain. We overcame this quite comfortably but I could definitely see this as an issue for less agile walkers. The walk back up to the bus stop was of course challenging as well, it took us around 1.5 hours, including breaks. I can’t recommend the experience of the trek down enough, but the refreshing water and splendid views from sea level are most definitely worth while if driving down is your preferred option. This was easily the highlight of our trip to Marseille.

Simply put, this park was amazing! Was a bit hesitant visiting given the amount of National Parks that are in the US but this was well worth it. Hiking down to the beach was both semi challenging and rewarding. It was releasing to float in the water and then lay on the warm rocks soaking up the sun and views.

Paradise on earth....but very dangerous hiking trails if you underestimate the danger. The hiking is also much longer than said on the internet. To go from Port Miou to En vau it is 3 hours and not 1h30. There are three ways to get to En vau. The easiest and the one I would advise if you have children younger then 15 is the one that starts at the route the gineste. The hardest route is the " panoramic route". If you go for the first time, stay close to people that already know the trail. It is way too easy to get lost. And when you get lost you sometimes will have to take some very dangerous decisions to get back on track. I repeat do not underestimate the danger. I am an adventurous man, athletic and not afraid of anything...but I am amazed that there aren't any dead tourists every summer..... Take a lot of water with you. Go as early as you possibly can. Don't leave the beach too late because if you leave at 8 in the evening you won't get out in time before dark. Install the application " mes calanques"... An amazing app. Stay safe. And don't smoke there nor on the beaches... They will give you fines that will hurt your wallet. They had a lot of forest fires.. and clean up behind you. And when you leave the beach and you see some filth from someone that didn't, then be kind and take it with you. By the way...the water of calanques d'en vau is extremely cold. Some advise: when you arrive at the beach find yourself a spot on the left side of the beach because that way you'll have 90 minutes of sun more then the people on the right side of the beach. Best advice : rent a kayak. You'll be there in 1 hour. Stay safe.

We were on wheels. The police were already giving instructions on how to move in the parking lot. You could ride a bike on the big roads. So we pedaled almost 4km up and down to the beautiful harbor area. There is a small beach and a path to the rocks. Beautiful. Lots of walkers.

Awesome, Second time we did the Route de Cretes and it was beautiful and amazing views, such beautiful nature, this wilderness, this pureness, nothing and no one can make this by human, this landscape only is made by the nature itself. If you are around Cassis or La Ciotat, take one day and go there, don't miss it -a must go!

If one has to imagine how the heaven looks like, then they should visit Les Calanques. It’s nothing less heavenly. Picturesque beaches, colourful waters, numerous possibilities of activities one can do and it feels like that’s the real life to live for. The best place for scuba, swim and for sunbathing. Hiking, kayaking or any activities related to water and mountainside can be performed. The colour of water varies because of Mediterranean specific sea plants. They are well preserved and that’s what make this place worth visiting. One can reach there by hiking or by taking a ferry from Marseille vieux port. Just to visit all the calanques beaches one can take integral tour of the calanques by ferry which will Cost you around 32€ per person for the duration of 3h15. Don’t forget to take sunglasses and a cap because of the sun. Best time to visit in April.

Big national park with free entry and hiking trails at all levels. Great challenging hiking trails with swimmings spots and some places to stop for drinks and food if youre looking for it . I would not recommend any of the trails for people with reduced mobility as there are a lot of slipery rocks - it is best to stick to the road. We did not have to buy tickets on the day we went. The app is very good for finding hiking trails that will suit your abilities. Its a bit difficult to get here without a car but a bus goes from the old port to the university and you can enter from the far side of the university car park

One of the highlights of Marseille. The parc includes several calanques, which are narrow inlets of water surrounded by high rocky formations - similar to the fjords in Norway. It is an amazing destination for hiking, kayaking, swimming and tanning on either limestone rocks or the few sandy beachs at the tips of the calenques. It is possible to visit the calenques by boat but i highly recommend spending a day doing activities instead if not tight on time. A must do when in Marseille.

Very beautiful place and the view is amazing. I recommend a hiking shoes as in some areas the sand is a bit slippery I twisted my leg in there and it was difficult to climb down after.

I accidentally got to know this National Park in the morning, and decided to visit and hike instead of going to Marseille local attractions. I preferred tranquillity and scenery of the nature. I drove to one location and found it’s too far away from the beach, so I googled and found Calanque de Sormiou which could be accessible by car during autumn. It was a very adventurous and scenic drive to the inlet, the views were gorgeous with mountain ranges on both sides and the blue Mediterranean Sea in the middle. I tried to hiking one side of the hill, it was too steep and slippery, so I turned around and went to the other side, which was much more smooth and scenic. You had to marvel at the cliffs over the Mediterranean! Highly recommended for people visiting Marseille! Cheers!

We hiked down to Calanque de Sugiton from the University Luminy campus. The hike was not too difficult, the trail was well maintained, and the views were spectacular. The beach was lovely and not too crowded. A must visit in the South of France :)

A great place to have different types of activities and levels of difficulties. Hiking, climbing, swimming in the sea, trail running. The views are gorgeous and the stones are magnificent. I would recommend hiking shoes depending on the train you chose. Bring water as there is no place to get some once you start.

If you're in Marseilles it's a must see. Easily accessible with the public transport. Amazing views within the reach! The hike is not too difficult, easily doable for beginners or people who don't exercise too much like myself :). Take lots of water as there won't be places to buy anything on the way.

Panoramas offered here are gorgeous. It is also easily accessible by public transport. I advice to take a public bus to the Luminy campus which is close by. From there you can walk in about 30 minutes to the Belvédère de Sugiton which arguably offers the best views from the Calanques. Be careful what routes you take as some will require you to climb or come down quasi-vertical walls which might be difficult if not in great physical shape.

The Parc National des Calanques in Marseille is stunning, but my visit was marred by road closures that made access difficult. Views were still breathtaking, but plan ahead for any closures.

Very beautiful national park with an integrated bay for swimming and boating. Since the path can be relatively uneven due to the large amount of rock, it is not recommended for parents with strollers or people with physical complaints/limitations.

Really great park on the outskirts of the city. The hiking trails are sometimes strenuous and demanding, but nevertheless beautiful. It's best to come in the morning then the small beach is not so crowded. The park is easily accessible with the B1 bus. In any case, take at least 1/2 liter of water per person per hour, as there is no running water there(!). All in all a must if you are in the area.

To get to this place from old port you should do a cab and it will cost you around 30 euros so if you are 3-4 people it's much better and it takes 20-30 mins to reach this destination. If you are alone, I would recommend you to take public transport and that will take almost an hour to reach there. If you enjoy trekking then I think this is a great point for you but you should start in the morning so that you complete the trek and relax for sometime. Take water bottles with you. Cafes were closed when we went there. Also look out for your mobiles/wallet while trekking you might lose it. Since we went there in February so it was not crowded but expect some crowd in summers. Perfect place to calm yourself and relax. Perhaps the best place to write a book or enjoy the music or create music. You will definitely enjoy yourself with your loved ones!

absolutely beautiful place, some of the prettiest views i have ever seen! bring a swimsuit, a beach towel and something to eat and you have yourself the best beach day of your life. however the climb back up should not be underestimated, but it is very doable. bring good hiking shoes, sunscreen and a hat. also the bus connection to and from marseille is very good, just take the B1 Bus from Castellane which comes every 10 minutes or so. i’d plan 3-5 hours for this trip:)

Argh. The Calanques were beautiful and d’en Vau beach was wonderful swimming. D’en Vau beach was mobbed by instagrammers, kayakers, climbers and even has boats bringing tourists by sea. It did ruin it quite a bit. But what ruined the visit the most was that our car was smashed into while we left it in the car park. When we came back from our hike to d’en vau all the cars in the car park had the back windows smashed. The local police weren’t remotely surprised. Our air bnb host shrugged and said ‘well it’s Marseille’. The police report was a nightmare. They didn’t speak a word of English and had no official translation service. It’s not really worth it for all that stress

I caught the big ferry (5Euro) from the Old Port to Point Rouge, then I took the 19 bus (still able to use my ferry ticket) to the start of Calanques National Park (just up from where the bus stops on the right). Take a note of the route colour on the sign post or have a plan beforehand (I didn't do either and it got a little confusing). I ended up taking the the red route to Les Goudes. Wear trainers, only 3 places with rocks. Take water as little shade once you are coming down. A lovely short walk. Catch the buses back to Point Rouge.

Beautiful, great views, free. We drove through the Calanque Massif on the way to Marseille and really enjoyed the views. Be careful with the parking spaces: some of them are very uneven - bumps are not uncommon. Unfortunately, when the outside temperature was 35 degrees, it was not possible to reach the bays by car because the access roads were closed. You can park at reasonable prices and walk forward or book a boat trip and explore the massif from the other side. We had fun!

Lovely place. I visited *Calanque en vau*. The water was very cold, but the landscape was beautiful. The beach is built with rocks, so those shoes for this rocky beaches really help. I got there with the car. You park on a public parking area (free of charge) then you walk following the red path for almost 2hs. You have to bring a lot of water (and food) since it can get very hot in summer. There are no shops in the area. The closes city is Cassis which also worth to visit

A beautiful national park. If you are staying in Marseille for several days it is a must to visit the park! There are many swimming opportunities, including a nudist section (43.21156, 5.458172). The hiking trails can be dangerous and some trails are not correctly signposted.

One of the best places to swim in Marseille. Located in a park 40 minutes outside of the city, you have to park your car and walk for an hour and a half... So bring your hiking shoes! But the beach totally deserves the effort!

Depending on the season, you should bring enough water, a jacket, good shoes and of course swimming gear. There are many bathing bays, good and also very demanding hiking trails. The Calanques of Marseille and Cassis can also be reached from the water. Did a 1h20 trail, red/white/black route. Careful on the slippy rocks polished by hikers. Stunning vistas, a must visit for anyone visiting Marseille. Buses available to take you to and from are regular. I stopped off at a beautiful little beach cove halfway through the hike. Not too difficult but there are some small ascents and descents which might be tough on older knees.
