Great chapel which has been restored to be visited. Several relics are hold inside. Worth a visit. The gardens around and inside are lovely too.

The dôme de la Grave is worth the detour, historical explanations and videos covering the great eras of the La Grave hospital. However, there is only the bottom of the dome to visit, no access to the other structures or to the upper floor. Impressive structure.

I would have given this major site 5 stars if the price of the entrance ticket had been cheaper. €5 for a visit of up to 30 minutes is a bit excessive. In addition, this building is unfinished like the pediment which was not sculpted and remained raw or like the undecorated dome or certain chapels of the ambulatory which are bare. To choose from, the Saint Nicolas church located a stone's throw away is sublime. The interior decoration is magnificent, grandiose and surprising for a simple neighborhood church. A must see, it's worth the detour and it's free.

Sadly the musuems at La Grave were closed due to COVID on my visit but the site is beautiful from the outside and there were some detailed info panels about the fascinating history of the hospital here (from the plague to poorhouse to modern day). It is interesting how late it was being run by the church! Worth visiting and taking the time to read. I hope to return one day and visit the museums and the new park that is under construction right beside it.

In every photo of Toulouse you can admire the Dôme de La Grave but seeing it in person is something else entirely. You feel very small next to this structure, the visit costs €5 and the girl at the entrance is kind and also speaks English.

Barely accessible. But nice to see from a distance.

👍 It’s great to have such old heritage in Toulouse! Well on the other hand you have to have a little imagination to visualize what it could have been like at the time... 😁
