This is such a cool place to see and learn about prehistoric, geologic, and more recent modern human times! The tours are only given in French, but they have information booklets English and other languages so that you can understand whay the guide is saying. Also, in several parts of the Grotto and caves, there are information signs in French. A few notes: No pics/video allowed. Parking is on the upper part of the Grotto, and you have to walk down to the middle to the information center. Bathrooms are at the top by parking. The drive is lovely as well, and with the price of your tour ticket, you can visit the museum in town for free (Musée de la Préhistoire). Lots of cute shops in town too, and some hiking trails around. Definitely worth a visit!

Quite annoyed, yes there is in french written there are only guided tours (only in french, which takes a hour) but then write at least also that they start a half hour after opening. Nowadays the translation engines are so good, that it would be very nice. Opening times are quite limited with a lunch break from 12-13.15. I didn’t made inside. So it’s more a review on the informations.

Great grotto to visit. Big negative is no pictures is allowed and the guide only speaks french, so if you don't understand french you gonna miss out on some things, you do get a guide book in english, but the conversation in the hologram room is not translated in the book. You can take pictures of the outside of the grotto. The guide was a really kind person and you felt welcome. So worth the visit if you have interest in pre historic stuff.

The cave itself is amazing and the history of it is fascinating! I loved the experience and I would love to go again, if there is the opportunity. However, I was very disappointed, sad and even angry about the fact that the whole tour was only in French language 😥 The lady was talking passionately for a full hour and me and my family did not understand a word 😥 We were given some short text in English (a fraction of what was said) but were unable to read it at the check points because not allowed to use the light. I wished so much to be a french child and fully understand the whole lecture and be able to ask questions. As a foreigner, I felt discriminated. I felt it was unfair to make available the historic value of such important site, which I believe is vitnessing the history of man kind, only to the French 😥

TLDR: read the wiki page and walk along the road through the cave. That will give you a better tour and will be for free. The best outcome of the tour itself was the Guano on my boot sole - the tour is in french with English leaflets, that you cannot read because there is no light. The Guide was purely taking about relevant findings like prehistoric bones and tools but never mentioned anything about the cave itself or showed more than the three chambers open to the public. Also anything mentioned during the guided tour can be read and seen in the introductory room just before you head in the cave. Also lighting the cave in pink colors and installing (for us not even working) holographic features would not be necessary of the tour would be actually interesting....

Tour tickets need to be booked in advance. Tours start every 30mins. Visitor centre is approx half a kilometre from the carpark. Small cafe en route between the two. Spoken guide is in French only, which is fine - translated written guides available. However the tour of the caves themselves had such low lighting you couldn’t read the written guides whilst in there. This is not an accessible tour; the visitor centre and initial exhibition/display is accessible (as are the toilets via a wheelchair lift) but visitors need to be able-bodied and steady in their feet to be able to take the tour of the caves themselves. Significant number of steep steps and where the floor is natural cave underfoot you need to be very careful. Better floor level lighting would improve this considerably.

Amazing work of art and sculpture by Nature. Quite stunning. Park up and walk around. Book the tour online in advance though. 9 eur each. 1 hr. Interesting.

guided tour is complete waste of time and money - very boring, the most impressive part of the cave can be observed just from the road

Superb tour, I came here 15 years ago and it was just as good then. You have to immerse yourself in the history not moan because the tour is in French. Your in France so get with it either way the guides will help as much as they can or stay at home......sounds like you voted for Brexit anyway,......

A huge cave going right through the hillside. Big enough for a road to use it as a tunnel alongside the river. There is a small car park at the end and then you can walk into the cave and towards the museum. The surrounding countryside is very pretty with lots of hiking available. Alas we didn’t have time so I can’t comment on the museum or the surroundings in detail. But the cave is cool!

The approach to the cave via the road tunnel is really striking, and the cave itself, whilst not as spectacular as some, is fascinating from a historical point of view. The tour in French was excellent, and not expensive. Personally I could have done without the holograms, but they only took up 5 minutes of an hour long visit. On a practical note, there is adequate car parking, and a decent snack bar, and the nearby village has shops and restaurants, and a museum of pre-history which is included in the entry price to the cave.

The Cave is good. But the guide is only in French. You have some paper brochures in English but it's dark inside. It's boring. And it's not allowed to take pictures 😭

Impressive cave system. The tour was a little disappointing for non-French speakers. The website claimed that you could get an English guide in July but this was basically a couple of leaflets, both of which you had to read before the tour as it was too dark in the caves to read them. Also, one of the leaflets was yellow type printed on black, so was virtually impossible to read anyway. Our tour guide seemed to spend ages talking about the artefacts (which we couldn't understand) and then sprint through the caverns themselves, which was a shame as you needed more time to appreciate them.

Passed through en-route to Toulouse airport. A natural wonder which you can drive through. A cafe is present serving food and drinks and there's also a public toilet (but locked out of season when footfall is low). Free parking allowing to wander around and picnic if preferred. There's also a visitor's museum and a bungee jump (in summer season) for those looking for an adrenaline rush!

Nice to see where the Magdaleniens lived. Good guided tour. Impressive place. If you want to see stalactiets and pre historie drawings best visit another grot (like Bedeilac)

We have not visited the cave museum, but on top of the cave or in the immediate surroundings, there are magnificent walks.
