Don't think of this site as a cave. It is the outer surface of a mountain where carvings have been made. It stretches for about 15 meters wide. Nice, but not 8 euro's worth to watch, with only explanation in french.

Outstanding! If you're at all interested in our pre history this is a must. We had Pascal as our guide, can't praise him highly enough - such passion and knowledge about the carvings. So grateful to him for bringing it alive for us today. Photography of the carvings not allowed.

After visiting the caves of Rouffignac, Font de Gaume and Les Combarelles I must admit that I was tired and nonplussed of this visit. Nevertheless the site is of utmost importance due to the size and age of the frieze and its relatively remarkable state of conservation. The noisy kids and babies and that the guide was not so entertaining may have not helped. 8€ the access price.

Unbelievable prehistorical bas reliefs featuring horses. This is a small site with a detailed visit which depends from a larger site (Font de Gomme). Definitely worth a pit stop

Another rip off so called 'prehistoric engraving cave" (1) Super BAD (a) NO Photography allowed. Suspicious already (b) SKEPTICAL Engraving. (c) Engraving animals looks too perfect, not ancient and clean (d) In another room showcasing samples of carving engraving stones which their current artists had done to show us how long it took to engrave animals, WHAT IF the inside site were all done by their artist to fake as ancient engraving?? (e) RIP-OFF (f) NOT Worth visit NOT worth visiting grotte and chateaus that prohibit photography

Insightful tour - book in advance on the website and check in at font dr gaumme office. Tickets for the other sculpture caves in the area were sold out for the next three weeks

Amazing rock sculptures!! The tour was in french but I understood a lot of what they were saying and bought a book that gave me the context. It's really amazing to see what they could do and what they did with flint tools.

Very interesting bas relief sculptures. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. His presentation was well organized and led us into the subtleties of the works and the prehistoric world and life

Beautiful paintings, but the tour only in french. Why its a modern world

Awesome....a cap is an overhang of rock and not a cave...this cap is now protected as a room which you can visit on a tour

A rather special find and thus slightly thrilling to visit. Personally, I am less moved by the artwork than many of the prehistoric paintings that I have seen in the various nearby caves, but for the full picture, this site should not be missed. The tour guide is very informative and took his time to allow you to take it all in and ask questions. The different lighting options, certainly adds to the experience, as light from different angles, totally changes the look of the sculptures.

Very interesting place. Explanations during the tour could be improved by making it a bit more scientific.

The guide did a good job switching back and forth from english to french. The cover was very interesting and the carvings are amazing.

Amazing, due to covid we had to book, but it ended up just being my husband and me with our tour guide Pascal, who seemed pleased to be able to brush up on his English. Very informative, plenty of time to discuss the carvings, which are fascinating and some with such detail and such a great tour guide, thank you Pascal. Very much worth a visit.
