Bouchon Tourangeau

Restaurant French restaurant

😠 The extremely rude, young waiter told us the restaurant was closed. We walked past again later and it was still accepting customers! Judging by the awful reviews of this place, it was a lucky escape! Glad we went somewhere much nicer. People often mention French, good, perfect, restaurant, wine,

This place is not at all good for children. Or families. Or even native French speakers! The waiter hardly bothered to grunt at us while taking our order after waiting for 20 minutes, dumped very mediocre food on our table and did us the good grace of overcharging us on the final bill. If they are going to offer a set menu they should at least understand that it means a set price...

Bad experience. Staff were gracefully ignoring us from time to time. Food was average. We got onion soup, which was worse than bad, not as advertised in the menu. Such a disappointing experience this place was. I also saw a cockroach wandering the place, I am glad I saw it after we finished the meal. And I am happy I drank so much alcohol with the food!

We were really excited about this place...sounded amazing and was very busy. We jhave spent a lot of time in France, and have never had such a mess. The waiter brought us the wrong, water, wine and my entree was totally wrong. They tried to make it right with a free Dauphinoise (which is delicious). It was just really disappointing.

Traditional French cuisine- first place I have seen onion soup and it did not disappoint! Not sure why it’s low ratings compared to the others around- as every dish we had was delicious

Was looking for a good French restaurant in Tours and this did not disappoint. The escargot and duck were amazing. Great value too. Best meal I've had in France, loved it!

Dined here tonight and totally disagree with all the negative reviews. This place is delicious and a great place to eat. The staff were super friendly and helped me even though I don't speak French. This is one of the few places I found that served Margret de canard (duck breast) and it was fantastic. My partner had the confit duck and also loved it.. Happy to reccomend this place. Will probably go back again tomorrow 😀

We particularly enjoyed the desserts of pain perdu (french toast) and poached pear in red wine. The appetizers of fried fish and the main course of boeuf bourguignon were good but not very memorable. I think the service could be quicker and more attentive, so there's room for improvement.

Amazing! The plate of the day was cow tongue that I love so I got inside of the restaurant. It was melting of softness slightly spicy perfect. I thought the pasta would not be a good side, but it was perfect. Ordered a salad side because of it, that was perfectly seasoned. The dessert was just marvelous, the poire cooked in wine and anis was so beautifully presented. The only very minor detail is that when given the menu I was not explained the dishes of the day.

Waiting for decades, 30 mins for entries, 45 mins for main courses, another 30 mins for dessert. How????

What a fantastic French Restaurant! Food was simple but in a good way, a very good way. Full of flavour. Music and ambiance were perfect for visiting friends from the UK. Service was exceptional! A perfect French experience.

We ate from the three-course set menu, which was considerably cheaper than à la carte, and wondered whether the portion sizes and quality might suffer. Not at all! The portions were generous and it was presented well. It tasted wonderful! Definitely recommended.

Completely gross taste and unappetizing look. This is French onion soup.... no cheese crust, soaked/soft/mush croutons.

Deserves a detour if authenticity is what you are looking for! You will find outstanding accoeuil and attentive service, combined with great food ingredients mastered by a true chef de cuisine, whose name is Saddam, who worked in the Paris 5 star restaurants and then moved to Tours, focussed in offering true experience to the guests, such as escargots, terrine de campagne, foie gras, and the best rognons one can dream of, accompanied by a delicious gratin dophinoise. Desserts? creme caramel, ile flottant in their perfect execution achieve highest standards. Great capability bu the owner in choosing the wine selection: Sancerre Revendry-Ducroix is an example. All in a simply true ambiance on the Tue Di Grand Marché. Should be in Michelin Guide! PS price/ quality ratio 10/10

My husband and I spent month in France and came to Tours, where I had spent time years ago, in July. This was the worst meal experience we had, and one of the worst meals I've ever had at a restaurant in general. The server was quite rude at first, but she was less abrasive as the meal went on. We never got the bottle of wine we ordered, which ended being just as well because we couldn't wait to leave after we got our food. The escargot was scalding hot, burned, and absolutely flavorless. Both of our main plats were embarrassingly bad. I got the fish, and it was neither cooked well nor seasoned well; the texture as a result of the poor cook was so off putting. Neither one of us could bring ourselves to finish what we ordered. The couple at the table next to us each ordered steaks, and they didn't seem too happy, either. The steaks looked like flattened, burned pieces of car tires and aside from that were mostly fat. Seeing the previous positive reviews, I don't know if this is a result of a change in management or just giving up.

Service was excellent, food was great and the set menu was really good value. (3 courses for €15.90) We were given a small cup of soup as soon as we sat down which was a lovely surprise. Our food arrived quickly and steak was also great. Cosy and relaxing place which was excellent value for money. Merci
