So much skill on show at a very small price. Craftsmen and their achievements so amazing.

An interesting insight into the history of the 'guilds', and precursors to trade unions. Also some fascinating examples of the items prepared for admission into said guilds, and the prized 'cane' acquired. Beware, dont follow Google Maps for the entrance, it is now from Rue Nationale, down the stairs in front of St Julian's, and to the left. (Stairs beside the small building on the corner of Rue Colbert, with the hairdresser). It is also only accessible by a steel staircase. Another display there, but only until Nov '22, is on the rebuild of Notre Dame (all in French).

Beautiful museum that illustrates with great details the history of French artisanal Corporations, how they work and what they do. A must-see if you are in Tours, also not expensive at all.

Very little English explanations, just a bit on the History-Posters where you enter. But the Workpieces are nice. Not really a destination, but nice if you stroll by and have a bit of time..

Für Interessierte an der Geschichte der Zünfte und Handwerke ein echtes Erlebnis. Beeindruckend, was Hände erschaffen können. Kleines Museum zum kleinen Preis. Das sollte man unterstützen, oder? Die Ausstellungsstücke sind teilweise unglaublich detailliert gearbeitete Meisterwerke. Mittagspause beachten.

This museum has so much talent on display. We loved this more than any Chateau or Gallery. It's not a big place, but it's easy to get to, and really interesting. We don't speak enough French to have understood all the information, however we were given a free guide in English. Also some of the text has English translations. Don't miss the "Joiner's alphabet" (I forgot to take a photo), or the amazing statues made from sugar.

An interesting display of examples throughout history from all the trades included within compagnonnage. All displayed within the impressive and historic original building that provided lodgement for Tours compagnonns

Fascinating museum of Companonnage which are like craft guilds. To join, you have to make a masterpiece in your own craft. This museum shows some of the best craft work. Miniature models in wood, or baked, or made in metal, or leather depending on the craft shown.

Very interesting to learn about this talented people! The museum is located close to the Rue National and it’s a great option for both kids and adults. I wish it would’ve been bigger, some sort of audiovisual guide would’ve been nice as well.

The story of the rise and slide of civilization when humans lost their spirit of cooperation and began a plunge through competition. Step outside and see what the modern world hath wrought

It's a small museum. If you go fast, you can see everything in ten minutes. But that would be an error. The masterpieces exposed there are really impressive if you take time to watch carefully, read the explanations and think that all was hand-made. Wooden frames, stone works, and metal works are my favorites. The design ingenious designs and crafting skills needed to accomplish the works is just out of reach for the common imagination. Also you can discover the tradition of "compagnonnage" in France.

The museum houses collections of masterpieces by the compagnons du tour de France. Highly original. Never seen anything like it before. Highly recommended. There is a guided tour which is interesting but you need a good level of French to understand what they say. Alternatively all the exhibits have an English explanation underneath.

Definitely a niche museum but the displays are incredible. The amount of written information will be limited if you don't read French.

Beautiful museum with lots on display and friendly and helpful staff about the history of trades in France. Something totally new for me and interesting to see in its own unique place. Only about 2€ for students and free with the PCE!

😠 Dark atmosphere, my friend and I greeted by two gloomy men, one of whom replied nastily following the request for the price of a souvenir from the museum: "I have bills to pay,... And at the bakery, do you pay?... Ask your parents to lend you money...!" (Then comments on the fact that they are "poor...
