It boasts a good collection. Most of the items on display are pretty old, but there are a few which are of the contemporary style. Among the items in the collection which are more unique are a vintage clock and several Roman-era sculptures. Since this museum is located inside a historic mansion, you also get to tour much of it. It's mostly emptied out but there are some ornate fireplaces, nice staircases, and beautiful doors. The entrance to the enclosure of the museum was historic and nicely detailed. It's free for those who are under 26. All in all, it's a great place to visit.

Very fine midsize art gallery inside a beautiful old building, right next to the incredible Cathedral. If your goal is celebrity art sitings (i.e. famous paintings and painters) you won't get much of it here, but this is an excellent and varied collection nonetheless and worth a few hours' visit. (I read someone complaining that the staff speak mostly French. Well, the funny thing is, the museum is in France. Everyone who worked there was perfectly nice.)

Really nice museum with gorgeous works from the greats! Don’t forget to ask for a student discount if you’re a student. There’s also a nice garden in front of the museum where you can enjoy a picnic in the park. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Very nice, albeit small, museum of Arts located close to Tours cathedral. Entrance is quite cheap, especially in comparison to other museums. Exhibits are for the majority paintings, but the building itself is "part of the art", since old rooms are very well preserved and with beautiful floor/ceiling and firepits.

The museum “Musée des beaux-arts de Tours” is a hidden gem in the town of Tours. It is located in the former bishop's palace, near St. Gatien cathedral. The collection is small but interesting.

Current exhibition is really interesting as it evolves through time. Mainly paintings, also a few sculptures and objects of interest

Ticket selling staff is very ignorant and rude. They ask where you are from which OK, and then give ignorant remarks to you. If you don't want to mess up your trip to France, avoid this place.. They do have nice collections, but it's not worth experiencing ignorance and rudness.

This is a beautiful building housing a varied and well put together exhibition. The gardens are pleasant to stroll in and there is a fine garden Café serving treats.

Great collection set out in a wonderful building. Allow an hour and half to view the collection and make sure you check out the garden

A nice small museum that took me about an hour to walk through. There is almost nothing written in English in the museum, so it's good to carry Google Translate with you (just one staff member seemed to know English). Lots of artwork from the 1800s from known artists, and also a few impressionist (and neo) works. Also a bit of modern work that was pretty nice. It's in a really old house that is interesting, and some sculptures and clocks on display. Easily worth the ticket price, and after several days in Paris museums this was relaxing since very few people inside. As I said, have translation app with you!

The best place for you to visit. It’s very interesting. It had three floors with art frames. There is a room dedicated to the history of Tours. You need pay 8 euros for visit the museum.

Really rude staff, don't speak a word english or a different language than french. Lockers are way to small for any backpack and you aren't allowed to leave them anywhere else.

A welcoming and elegant palace setting that extends to you an air of self confidence as if you truly belong and are appreciated. And there’s some killer art and decorations too. Could stay forever and never mind the time

Mid sized but rich Museum with a nice Park where you can chill with a snack. A huge remarkable tree greets you at the entrance.

Ticket price entirely justified, not for the majority of works, but for the small, easily missed room of Italian (and particularly Venetian) works. The two Andrea Mantegna predella panels from the S.Zeno altarpiece are breath-taking and here you can have time with them almost alone, impossible if they were in the Louvre/Prado/NG.

Beautiful gardens - no time to go inside. Only in Tours for a brief visit.

A large number of quality paintings dating from 14th c. to 19th c. Highlights are works by the Italian Renaissance master, Mantegna and French Rococo artist, Boucher. Get a layout map to avoid being confused by multiple stairways.

Ok. A few good pieces. Information in French only (not a huge problem). Nothing to go out of your way for but if in town it is worth about 90 minutes. 6 euros seems about right.

Beautiful museum with an extraordinary garden walkway, park, and exhibition with friendly and helpful staff. Sculptures, paintings, and occasionally also concerts are shown here. And only 3€ for students, or free if you have the PCE!

A nice museum to visit, cheap (or even free on the first Sunday of the month) and not too long. The parc is also a nice place to have a walk.

If you would like to visit this museum you nearly have to speak French (more or less fluently). No information is in English. And the staff only speak French. There are quit a lot of known artists shown here but not the their best work. But the real problem is the staff attitude. They are really rude and it seems like their main goal is to prevent people from going back to see a painting one more time. If you do that mistake, they are going to flex some muscles (and scream rapidly in French). The garden outside (and especially the Lebanon Cedar tree) is beautiful. It is free & without guards yelling at you and telling you which direction you can go.

It is an interesting place for art lovers and history buffs. Some interesting old paintings of Tours are also on display. Get your students id for discounted tickets. Artist might also get discounts. Parking can be difficult to find as it's usually full due the museum being in the city centre. This place has a lot of stairs and the museum is quite big. Can be a problem for people with wheelchair. Get a bottle of water too on hot days as there is no air conditioning.
