A spectacular fountain, this War Memorial commemorates the aid provided by the SOS (Services of Supply) to the French army through the 4 logistical services: supply, administration, distribution and construction during the 1914-1918 war. I passed nearby several times, without taking the time necessary to discover this memorial fountain, the messages it carries, and the questions they raise. The statue of an Indian and an eagle ready to fly, made of bronze covered with gold leaf, dominates it. If the white eagle is a symbol of the United States, the symbolism of the Indian is more mysterious and several hypotheses have been put forward. Figure of freedom, insubordination, or recognition of the aid provided by Native Americans to the United States army. The inscriptions on the elements of the fountain provide information. The pillar at the bottom has eight faces and eight coats of arms are engraved on it, coats of arms of the eight cities where the SOS was based. The basin placed on this pillar is surmounted by four female figures, each symbolizing one of the SOS services. The website and Wiki page are remarkably informative.

A beautiful and symbolic monument commemorating the participation of the American army in the liberation of France from the occupying troops of Nazism in the second world war. In a small but picturesque park.

Historical commemorative monument of very good quality, as always for Americans for remembrance it is beautiful and magnificent. It is very well maintained and looks like "new". Its location along the quays and on an open space gives it a slightly more solemn air with its fountain.
