Plenty of good and plenty of bad with west mountain. The good. The ski school is 5 star. Jaime does an unbelievable job. Great instructors. They care and really give great attention to the kids. The food quality is 4 stars. Mountain ops is 4 stars. The do a nice job with grooming and snow making. The Bad. West “express” 1 star. Breaks down at least once every time I’m on it. Lots of wasted time. Leeds to long lift lines unnecessarily. Fix it and maybe the other issues go away. Long lift lines on holidays. In my opinion the over sell tickets on holidays and weekends. The mountain as it stands cannot handle the amount of people. Food service 3 stars. The woman at the north lodge shouldn’t be serving people. She has no care in the world for anyone but herself. The crew at the main lodge do a good job. They care and give effort. Obviously the pandemic makes some of these things difficult and they are family owned so they get a pass on some things.

We went to the aerial treetop adventure course here on a group trip. We had never heard of it before the trip. It was AWESOME. It's like Adirondack Extreme, but much closer to home. We had a fantastic time here and look forward to going back again! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the lift ride to the top of the mountain was a beautiful bonus! This is highly recommended for a fantastic, fun filled day outside!!

Great family outing! We did the snow tubing. There's a people mover to get you up to the top of the hill and it wasnt too bad of a line so we got four- five trips in within our booked time. Snack prices we're outrageous as expected, but the outing was a very pleasant experience overall.

Went for the fall festival. $15 for face painting??? The bargain was the pony ride for $10. The horse was perfect and the owner was awesome with the kids. $20 for a lift ride??? Yikes Honestly this festival was a real let down.

West was a fun mountain. Due to the rough start of the year terrain was limited. When fully open this place looks awesome for an affordable price. Great INDY Pass stop too.

I am disappointed. For management and west mountain they don't deserve any ⭐. For instructor I will give them two stars. I have to spend $100 for one person only to get gear and entry for bunny hill. Most disappointing part is in the counter they told me that I have to buy lesson to enter bunny hill and I paid $47. And when my son went to the instructor they checked with office and told no. That amount is for entry only. My 6YO went up the carpet and started crying as no one was there to assist( I was told about lesson) . The situation could be worse until some kind instructor went up and got him down. They were very nice people and also gave tips to my kids as they did it for the first time.

I took my children snow tubing when they were young- about 20 years ago. I had the honor of taking my granddaughter for her first time. She had a lot of fun and it was a blast!

Awesome Tubing experience and a very cooperative and helpful support staff. Tube slide is of good height and distance, the slides were smooth but with speed. The descent was pretty quick, compared to the time it took us from down to top via the magic carpet. The magic carpet that takes us to the top was pretty slow, I get why so, but was expecting it to be a bit faster. There were only single person tubes and not any double tubes. If you are tubing with you get kids, they will get their own tube to slide alone. Infant could be on adult lap for the ride. Pricing was as below 2-Hour Ticket (non-holiday): $22 (12 yrs and under), $32 (13yrs +) 2-Hour Ticket (holiday): $27 (12yrs and under), $37 (13yrs +) But, there weren't any difference in the ticket issued between adult and kids. So not sure why the difference in the price. In the two hour window (4-6 pm slot) we could slide 5 times in total for a group of 6 adults and 3 kids. It's a decent time for each round and was worth the 5 round for the price paid. Special mention to the support staff, who helped us pick up our lost gloves(two gloves from different pair) from middle of the sliding way. The staff walked all the way to the top of the slide from ground to pick up the gloves. Thanks alot! There was good fire ring with chairs around, near the tubing area just infront of the cafeteria. The ski area was awesome as well, on our list for next trip. If you are traveling here, it's important to book these slots in advance through their website and pick up the tickets from the window when they arrive.

This is a nice ski resort. The customer service is great and we were instructed for lessons and rental. But the snow is icy and bumpy.

Went tubing here for my son's friend's birthday party and it was an absolute blast, even for the adults. They have two separate hills. One smaller and one bigger. Both are really fun! The smaller hill is great for first timers, those who might be a little more reluctant and younger kids. The bigger hill is great for all ages but goes very fast! They also have a competitive downhill skill slope and a regular ski/snowboard slope. Can't wait to go back! Completely recommend!

Decent ski hill for beginners and families. The terrain is primarily short greens and a couple blues. For others, it leaves a bit to be desired and fell short in a couple areas. The cafeteria was the worst ski lodge experience I’ve had in a long time (by far). Spent $6 for a soggy, cold slice of pizza which tasted days old. The woman at the register (manager/owner?) ignored the line of customers and went on a very extreme rant to another worker about how bad of a job the employees were doing, along with other business and personal matters. She was extremely unprofessional and really created a hostile atmosphere - I feel bad for the employees that work for/with her. The entire line of customers were visibly uncomfortable. Lift, bar, and ticket staff were very friendly. The guys at the Apex Chair had especially great attitudes! Snow guns were not running even though the majority of the blue trails were closed for lack of snow and the temps were perfect for snowmaking. Grooming wasn’t bad but could be improved - there were some dangerous contours on some of the trails that could have been smoothed out with more regular grooming. Not a huge deal, but certainly unusual for beginner terrain. I’m a big supporter of independent resorts and an indie passholder. Compared to other independent resorts, West Mountain fell short on terrain selection, snowmaking, and their cafeteria. I would visit again to see if its the norm, but some aspects of the resort seemed mismanaged.

For the 2023 ski season, I signed my child up for the 3 week ski lesson program. He attended on 1/21 & 1/28. On 2/4, I chose to withhold him from the class as it was single digits that day and he is young. At the time of cancellation on 2/4, I was informed there would be a makeup class on 3/11. During that call I asked for the time of the makeup and was provided a voicemail with a West Mountain employee to respond to my inquiry. That call was not returned. On 3/4, I called at 830am and spoke with an employee who identified herself as the manager of the ski shop. During that call, I attempted to establish a time for the makeup class on 3/11. The employee informed me that my child is not eligible for a makeup class, citing, I was given incorrect information by one of her subordinates. With some pressure from me, I was offered a 4pm makeup class. Not ideal for a young child but I took what I could get. When my spouse called the same employee to pursue a makeup class earlier in the day, the employee interrupted her several times, spoke over her, did not acknowledge that we were provided incorrect information about the makeup class, and ended up hanging up on my spouse without confirming a 10am class on 3/25 that was mentioned during the call. We’re still unsure if we should come to the mountain on that day and found the supposed manager to be off-putting. It was an odd experience to call to follow-up on information provided to us and to be treated in such a manner. Nobody needs to grovel at anyone’s feet and I found her behavior to be inflexible, unhelpful and wildly unprofessional. I’ve been to West several times over the years and am surprised by our experience as compared to previous experiences. I hope this matter is addressed in some way. I am posting this publicly because during the aforementioned call with my spouse, there was a request to speak to another employee, which was denied.

We attended the music on the mountain event on Saturday July 1st. It was incredibly expensive to get tickets last minute, the food, although very tasty, was expensive as well and not included in the ticket price. The ticket price was just to get in the door and was $50 for the two of us. We arrived right at 6:00 and the staff was not ready for parking , many attendants had no clue what they were doing we were told we would be parked and then nobody showed up so we parked ourselves . The band was not good and consistently asked people to get up and dance although they played irrelevant teenage music which was not fitting of the event or the crowd (when 50 year old men try to rap, it doesnt make for a good time) There were minimal vendors and absolutely nothing was included in that ticket price, so we spent over $100 and left early because the band was terrible. We have attended plenty of West Mountain events before and we were very disappointed with this one.

I’m giving this place 4 stars for what it knows it is as a family friendly beginner’s mountain. It can’t compete with bigger mountains in the area like Gore or some of the mountains nearby in Vermont but it’s not trying to. It was a great option for us as newbies to skiing. Mostly greens. Very family friendly. Not too crazy busy. They also have options for passes which are less than a day. You can get a 4 hour pass on weekends and I think even a 2 hour pass on weekdays. Good time.

Great place to get a few turns in. Views were good and trail variety was there. Terrain park was fun and night skiing is well lit up. Closed trails, ice patches, and sudden drop-offs should be marked better. There were no glades yet they are on the map. Overall pretty good.

Nice small mountain located less than an hour north of Albany right off the highway. Getting lift tickets was easy bought online and then got physical ticket/card at kiosk onsite. Lifts are very fast and the slopes are well maintained. Would definitely recommend going here.

Awesome weekend first time outdoor snowboarding. The kids did great and looking forward to coming back. Even when we finished I enjoyed watching the other people hit the jumps. Definitely made for good post to my IG @docnitty23

Awesome. I went there two weeks ago. It’s was really adventurous. Everything was great but under six years no one allowed. We hiked and enjoyed. We had a lot of fun. We was large group. Ticket price was adult $20. All cable car looks very older, they need to paint 🎨. The seat wasn’t not comfortable. Management suppose to need good work with it. However everything was great and we are pleased 😀.

West Mountain lives in the last century. I bought tickets for snow tubing through the website and they take 7-10 business days to deliver the ticket to your home and only then you can book two days in advance for snow tubing. I bought tickets a week ago and the tickets didn't arrive in time for my trip and I lost money. They could send the tickets instantly via email, I also have proof of purchase and cannot use it. COMPLETELY UNPREPARED FOR THE 21st CENTURY

Took 3 kids here for tubing. Had an excellent experience and really want to say how pleasant the staff are. It was our first time snow tubing and my 9 year old was pretty anxious; Sam was on the conveyor belt and he was awesome. He calmly explained the process to my son, stopped the belt, made sure everyone else waited, and cheered him on for the rest of the time. 10/10 recommend !

Great experience. My son took a beginners snowboarding lesson and he was completely locked in afterwards. Special thanks to his Instructor Carl, Erica and all the staff in the rental and ticket offices for being so knowledgeable and helpful.
