St Marys Cathedral, Newcastle, is the catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. It was designed by A.W.N. Pugin in 1844. It is a beautiful church in the middle of the city. The church has a daily mass and 4 weekend Mass.

I hadn't intended to visit this place at all today. But in passing bye, it caught my eye, and I'm very glad I went inside. The place has an interesting history being built in 1842 from funds raised by halfpenny donations from the poor Tyneside community of immigrants. It opened for worship in 1844. Whether you are religious or not, this place is a little sanctuary of peace and tranquility from the bustling city outside. Many people come here to just sit and pray in silence, others just to contemplate on life in general. The elderly volunteers that greet you are lovely. Information boards at the entrance provide a chronological history of significant events since this Church's foundation, and you can also pick up a leaflet with the plan of the interior and the key features. I give this 5 stars for the friendly volunteers and very peaceful ambiance.

A beautiful cathedral with a renowned stained glass window to the east side. Old style gothic but Modern comparatively to other historical buildings in the city, being completed in the mid 1800’s. A short walk from Newcastle’s central station

I'm a regular at Sunday Mass and love this place everyone goes out of their way to make u welcome woteva religion u are. The Priests are very friendly so is Bishop Robert who is there on special occasions. The choir is amazing and the volunteers and staff will help u with any questions you have, it is also a very beautiful place to visit just to look at the interior but please respect the privacy of the people who are there to pray. There is also a cafe and shop check out the website

is a Catholic cathedral in Newcastle, situated on Clayton Street. It was designed by Augustus Welby Pugin and built between 1842 and 1844. The cathedral is a grade I listed building and a fine example of the Gothic Revival style of architecture championed by Pugin. There is a monument dedicated to Cardinal Basil Hume in the Monument Garden outside of the cathedral, which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002. St Mary's Cathedral is the sixth tallest structure in the city.

Sadly, the cathedral is currently closed for repairs during work days, so I only got to see the outside. Looks nice. Hope to visit when the repairs are complete.

What a beautiful place. Was great to see during the late shows event as it gave us a chance to go into the organ loft and listen to a talk by the organist, followed by a short demonstration

Fantastic Catholic Cathedral in the heart of Newcastle. Large open space and richly decorated, there is a side Chapel with the blessed sacrament for quiet prayer. Mass is offered regularly and there is a large organ to the rear of the cathedral.

I came here recently for the carol service and it was phenomenal to say the least. The church has a very calm atmosphere, optimal for worship. The relics of history in the form of the mosaic windows and architectural design of the cathedral are awe-inspiring.

An oasis of peace and quiet in the midst of such a busy city. The stained glass windows are amazing, especially the one depicting the heritage of the locality - mining, textiles, fishing and more. Wonderful.

The cathedral is beautiful I went to an ordination there . There are gardens that are used for get togethers today it was where the buffet was held its very nice. There is wheelchair access If going by car there is no parking space but the car park Time Square is nearby and the rates are very good. The Metro is just across the road in Central station

Coming in from the hustle and bustle of a busy city centre the Cathedral is a haven of peace and tranquility. The feeling of calm envelopes you as you walk through the doors. It is one of my favourite places to visit.

Great experience here today. My first visit to St Mary’s and I wasn’t disappointed, the sun was streaming in through the stained glass and was lighting everything beautifully. The interior is painted unlike so many plain and austere churches. The rich colours set the main nave off very well. Lots of visual appeal. The colours being yellow, red and green and the stone and wooden roof gave a slight Hogwarts great hall feeling! The service was lovely, the choir were great to listen too and the cloisters cafe was good as well.
