The Riserva dello Zingaro is situated within the Province of Trapani (Sicily) and, belonging to the Comune of San Vito, it consists of a magical stretch of coastline interspersed with spectacular beaches. There are two entrances which can be reached by road, each with a car park. The northern entrance is convenient to drive to from San Vito Lo Capo while the southern entrance can be reached along the road from the seaside town of Castellammare. It seems impossible that there still exist a place such as this. A long line of peaked walls, harsh headlands, magnificent in let, deep indentations, underwater grottoes and tunnels, low reefs, narrow valleys, fantastic pebbly sandy beaches that reflect in the incontaminated sea of costantly changing colours; once blue now azure, tourquoise, light blue, further out, the deep blue sky. It is always limpid, always calm. This is the sea of Zingaro, a few kilometres of unique coastal landascape, splendid and prodigal with continual surprises The Zingaro Reserve has a large variety and abundance of rare and endemic plants, as well as a rich fauna. The highly varied ecological niches give a great diversity which is not easily found in others parts of the island. In the Zingaro Reserve at least 39 species of birds nest and mate, mainly birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon, the common kestrel and the common buzzard. The area has also a rich archaeological past; for example the spectacular Grotta dell'Uzzo, it was one of the first prehistoric settlements in Sicily. The reserve has a complex network of paths, shelters, water taps, picnic areas, museums, carpark, and other amenities; there are no roads and it can only be visited on foot.

A well kept and nice natural area with beautiful views, flora and fauna. Entry is €5 for adults, €3 for kids between 11 and 14 years old. And free for younger than 10. Parking costs €8 per day. Bring plenty of water and food. Also sunscreen and bathing apparel if you want to go swimming.

Good hiking, sea and mountain views. When we paid to enter, they checked our shoes to make sure we had good hiking gear

Beautiful nature park. We walked the higher path out and it was just covered in a huge variety of orchids and other flowers. Great path for views too.

Just incredible. Going there on a sunny winter day, although you cannot really swim (people do!), is definitely worth it. Peaceful, not crowded and not too hot.

A walk through the reserve was the highlight of our week. It was closed when we arrived because of the 'Medicane' that affected the east of Sicily; but once cleared we had a good 7km walk from the southern entrance to the northern one along the coastal path. On our return leg we stopped off at some of the best beaches in the area for a swim.

How delightful! If you want to truly immerse yourself in the beauty of the coast, I highly recommend renting a boat. It's such a peaceful and enjoyable experience, and driving the boat is surprisingly easy. Within just about an hour, you can explore the entire coastline, reaching the last point and relishing every moment of the journey. For a truly breathtaking experience, take the locals' advice and set out in the mornings. You'll be amazed at how the colors of the waters come to life, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that you won't want to miss. So, go ahead and embark on this unforgettable adventure – you'll be rewarded with unforgettable memories and stunning views!

We were not fortunate with the weather but even though the trekking was simply amazing. We took the coastal route- 7km each way. The entrance fee is 5 euro per person and there is a car park close to the entrance (ingresos sus: Scopello). Don’t forget to take bottles of water with you.

I loved this place! I suggest to go early in the morning, wear comfortable shoes to walk and bring a pair for the rocky shore, wear a sun hat and sun screen, bring water (very important!), something to eat, and enjoy your day walking or swimming in one of the Cale. I went with my family (2 adults and two kids) and it was ok for us to stop at Cala della Capreria, the first one from the Castellammare del Golfo entrance. We walked for about 15-20 minutes to reach it. Sun umbrellas are not allowed, so be prepared.

The trail through the reserve is very pleasant and at times even demanding. Beautiful views. I suggest bringing mountain footwear.

The Riserva dello Zingaro is a breathtaking natural gem in Sicily, offering visitors stunning beaches that are perfect for swimming. One of the highlights of this reserve is its pristine coastline with crystal-clear waters, making it an ideal spot for water enthusiasts. However, it's important to note that there are limited amenities within the reserve, so it's highly recommended to bring your own food and water to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit. This allows you to fully appreciate the natural beauty while being prepared for your day in this picturesque paradise. Don't forget sunscreen and a camera to capture the unforgettable moments!

Long hike. Recommend to bring at least 1 Lt of water, sunscreen and a hat. Don’t forget your slip shoes, bikini and towel, to be ready to refresh yourself in one of the multiple beautiful beaches there are along the trail.
