If your trip passes through Trapani or Erice then I recommend stopping here for an excellent dinner admiring the salt flats. The attached photos show how the sunset transforms these lands, a bit monotonous by day. My restaurant was the "Trattoria del sale", beautiful place... the mill in the photo.

At 20 minutes from Erice, it worth the detour to see the sea beds, from which they collect the salt after evaporation from the sun. vVarious migrating birds stop to nourish themselves, and nest their offsprings. We saw plenty of flamingo ๐Ÿฆฉ Itโ€™s a bit hazardous, as itโ€™s is located between a road offering no parking and where cars go really fast. Just be careful when crossing.

The saline was amazing ๐Ÿ˜ป! I have never seen flamingos till now! The saline was extraordinary. There is a boy who sells salt of fior from there but the pos machine doesnโ€™t work so I couldnโ€™t have bought salt ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜ป

Fascinating place. If youโ€™ve never visited a place like this then it is worth visiting. The visitor area was closed when we were there but there are plenty of places to walk around, just remember to respect the signs and the wildlife.

This spot offers free parking to see the salt polls. The pink Color is due to the algae that likes salty and warm water. There is a possibility of buying salt from this region in the kiosk near to this free parking area (1kg-2โ‚ฌ). I do recommend going to museum of salt afterwards to get any information or just to see more.

That is how salt is made :) At this Place you can get inspired by the way of How Salt is being created and see the beautyful landscape. Many Many Mountains out of Salt are there which is hard as Stone and you can also buy fresh and delicious Salt there. Love it โค๏ธ

Nothing special but it was nice stop over the salt was little pink thats what makes Flamingos got the pinky color when they eat the algae. You can buy some salt packages or magnet for the ligh house there.

My opinion is for a begining of march trip. It is simple: nothing to see: Make a 5 minute foto stop at the windmill, if lucky you may see some flamingos and the continue your journey! Hope that in other seasons it is more worth to visit...

Salt mines are an Interesting spot in Trapani to visit if in the area. Windmills and history make for a good 10 minute roadside visit.

To get by walk pretty complicated, after few km walkway ends and starts normal road for vehicles which is quite intensive. Best time to visit mid-end of summer or autumn, otherwise don't except to see any salt hills.

Unfortunately the Museum was closed but all the pans are really nice coloured and the whole salt making is really interesting. Also you can spot over 200 types of birds.

Cool place to see but it's outside the main city and takes 15-20min to visit

The windmill and house isnโ€™t worth a visit. The salt extractions are just a few little hills of salt and some waters. You can combine this with a visit to the mediaval village Erice, which is really worth a visit.

Nice place for a quick stop. Take the guided tour that will explain how the salt is harvested and have an aperitivo while watching the sunset. 3 stars only because the place deserve more. Only a couple of old windmills are renovated, the other ones are abandoned and wrecked.

A very enthusiastic wwf Italian speaker. Thankfully our friend was able to translate for us! But you'll see flamingos and the working of the salt planes.

Stagnant pond in an industrial area, run by the WWF, says open 24 hrs, but it was locked up and looked deserted. I think many reviews on here are for the salt museum not here. There were flamingos but you couldn't get to them. Please update your website and visiting hours. It is certainly not open.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Worth it. I really recommend it. Good for children and adults. It takes around 1 hour to visit and it is with a guide. You need to book before arriving because it is by small group.
