(Translated by Google) The museum is rich in works of art and could be a strong point for tourism in the city. The captions are not very accurate and are difficult to read. The lighting is to be reviewed. The non-functioning air conditioning system, in addition to putting the state of the works at risk, makes the visit unpleasant.

Very nice museum. Recently renovated and well arranged. Pretty well maintained. Good collection of paintings and a lot of other historical artefacts showing history of this place. The location is easily accessible too. The tram line brings you just in front of it.

(Translated by Google) The museum is well divided over several floors, each floor has a particular historical period. Definitely to be improved from a lighting point of view. Captions of the various historical periods really unclear and with periods full of punctuation errors and sometimes without an understandable logical sense. The archaeological part relating to the ancient Zancle is very interesting, some more interactive and digital study would have been appropriate.

(Translated by Google) Very well structured museum. The works of Caravaggio are very beautiful but there are many other noteworthy works such as Antonello da Messina and Gagini and many artists, especially Sicilian ones. The path is well conceived. Very courteous and prepared staff. There is a downside to the coin, the lack of directions and the dirt along the road and at the arrival of the tramway this does not honor the city of Messina. (Original) Museo molto ben strutturato.

There are incredible pieces in here. Some of the signage have English translations. The art is unbelievable and there is a huge amount of it. If you are a cruise ship passenger, you can get tram tickets from most newsagents and get there and back very easily. Otherwise its about a 30 min walk each way from the port.

Outstanding collection, well organized and with good descriptions all in a very smoothly laid out exhibition space. Of course, the two works by Caravaggio are the highlight of the museum.

(Translated by Google) The museum has been reorganized on new spaces with new works and new thematic areas. It is important to see the paintings by Caravaggio, the statue of Neptune sculpted by Montorsoli, the viceroy's carriage. Huge and interesting collection, staff is polite and guide you the museum nicely. The caravagio pieces are amazing. The collection has paintings and archeology pieces , the museum was almost empty of people. The have discounts for youths and students of certain specialties You can get there with the tram for just 1.50 from the centre. I recommend taking the daily pass for 4 euro, it covers all public transportation, bus tram and others.

(Translated by Google) MuMe is the most suitable place to take a walk in the centuries that have passed through the great city of Messina. The opportunity to discover that since the first Greek colonization this city has been the scene of very important historical periods: a fundamental multicultural center in the Middle Ages, thanks to Ruggero d'Altavilla for the Arab-Norman part and the archimandrite of the Holy Savior for the Byzantine part; crossroads of knowledge and arts, such as the flando-Iberian imports, which were the cradle of the genius of Antonello da Messina; pole of the southern renaissance, which boasted artists such as Girolamo Alibrandi, Polidoro Caldara da Caravaggio, Antonello Gagini, Michelangelo Montorsoli and many others; escape route for the great Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, of whom he boasts two very important paintings; and territory of important noble families that with their collections have made it richer and richer. Although the heartbreaking tragedy of the 1908 earthquake razed it to the ground, MuMe today preserves and enhances its history. A project already started in the nineteenth century by a circle of intellectuals among which, of course, the name of Carmelo La Farina stands out, then continued with eminent personalities who, both before and after the earthquake, dedicated themselves to the recovery of what was more possible of the Messina historical and artistic heritage. From its new look, which today, in addition to the former Mellinghoff spinning mill - until December 2016, home of the collections and from June 2017 area dedicated to temporary exhibitions -, also includes the suggestive outdoor area and the Mediterranean garden, you can not do anything else than to be fascinated.

From the moment you enter the grounds of this beautiful museum you can see the rubble of history cleverly strewn around the modern structure. A spacious quiet opportunity to view stone, mosaic, metal, and painterly artistic works, many fascinatingly reveal much through the scars of their existence. The Caravaggio's are mesmerizing as is the huge coach. The building is designed to lead you through all its levels giving glimpses of the works as you move around. A really pleasing visit.

Set in a huge and impressive modern building, the regional gallery is at the end of the tram route, which is the best way to get there, though trams are not very frequent. The museum is large and the route is arranged in chronological order, starting with ancient pottery.

(Translated by Google) The museum has countless works to see but my main interest was aimed at Caravaggio's 2 masterpieces. I was immersed in those works for half an hour alone (a privilege!) Before other tourists arrived. At first the environment seems a little too dark to fully enjoy the canvases but it is well suited to the artist's "dark" period; slowly the eye gets used and 2 spectacular scenes take shape, I can't find the right words to describe them but it was enough to justify the trip. For the rest, the museum is easily reachable from the tramway with frequent rides, the friendly staff and the very relaxing environment surrounding the museum that is well suited to sit a little and metabolize the beauties that have been filled inside.

The museum is beautiful, in its large rooms and in its exhibition dynamics. It represents well the artistic evolution of this city and what he managed to recover after the 1908 earthquake. The large staff has always been courteous. Perhaps a room used as a book shop and a cafeteria would make the visit even more pleasant. To study more carefully the lighting of certain paintings to avoid shadows or reflections. Anyway a must-see museum. Have to say, big disappointment. Relatively modern built building with very old-school displays. Mostly XVI century paintings, just a handful of items from ancient times. Only for the 2 Caravaggios, may not even worth the visit to the edge of town.

I am a tourist, traveling Sicily. I came to this museum on a week day, nobody was in line to visit, the tickets guy was on his personal phone, no courtesy/greetings at all. He told the cost of the ticket was 8 euros, I gave him 10. He said that he has no change at the moment, he asked to pay with credit card, I said that I prefer to pay with cash...the best thing was that he returned my money and asked me to leave the place and come back "if" I have the complete 8 euros. This poor guy has no skills to promote the tourism. What's wrong with people in Messina? Are they unhappy? Do they think the tourist own them something? More respect please!

I would highly recommend for anyone in Messina to spend a couple of hours viewing the museum's superb collection as you will not be disappointed. Set in a modern building approximately 40 minutes walk north of the centre or an easy tram ride (last stop on the line & tram tickets cost €1.50)
