Ancient history becomes visible and almost touchable at the Valei del templi. Imagine the Greek, Romans and many other tribes and cultures using these sites. We visited mid summer 2021, at 40’c. This is not recommended. There is a antigen covid-19 test location for people without vaccination proof (QR code check at entrance, or negative test on-site). Access is around 13€ for adult and small children are for free. A must see, we have visited Greek and Roman historic sites everywhere, this temple site is special because of the preserved temple. There is also a museum site, which due to the heat we did not visit. Ps; the actual entrance for the site is further up the road. Check Google maps for the entrance and follow the signs. Parking is available for ~3€.

The place itself is quite amazing, reflection of Greek architecture - not quite similar to acropolis but reminds you of it. Tickets are €10 pp parking depends on how much time you spend there, we paid €1.50 for being there close to an hour. Incredible views, could easily spend a great deal of time at this place. However, getting here was a nightmare. Every road that you think you can take here - the highways - were CLOSED OFF!! We got turned around and there are no cut off roads for you to make a U turn because they are closed off too - we went here April 12, 2022. The only road that was open cut through a small town and it also had a bunch of speed traps. The re-route delayed us by close to 2 hours🥴🥴🥴 The speed limit went from 80 to 50 to 40 within a matter of seconds. Be careful while driving and if possible check for road closures and alternate routes beforehand. There is a restaurant, but we just used the facilities and got some fresh squeezed blood orange juices to go. The website says it closes at 1.30pm but by the time we left it was a little after 2pm and people were still buying tickets.

Absolutely breathtaking!!! Pictures do no justice it's a must see in Agrigento. Highly recommended going with a guide..there is so much history and knowledge that could be missed without one. We had Teresa! She was fabulous! Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Made the experience that much more enjoyable. Wonderful experience

Great place for a walk. It can take up to 3 hours if walking with kids. They can jump on fallen temple rock which is fun 😊 bit must be careful. There is also cafe where you can by common Italian food and coffee.

Valley of the Temples is one of the most outstanding examples of ancient Greek art and architecture. A truly jaw dropping site when seen up close, was the absolute highlight of our trip to Sicily. A must see tourist location to visit.

Very nice and beautiful, we recommend to park at gate 4, take the taxi (3€/person) and go downhill from gate 1. Much easier. Stop and drink a cofee/water midway, you will not regret!

Best to visit just before the sun is setting which was around 8:30pm in July. Paid 10 Euro on the gate and met a guide outside who took us around for an additional 25 Euro per person. Definitely worth it though. There is also a cafe in between the 2 main temples that has drinks, food and of course, ice cream 🙂

Just magnificent. Breathtaking remains of history surrounded by beautiful scenery. The juxtaposition of the modern city in the background just adds to the beauty! Bring a water bottle and a hat, as on a sunny day, you'll be totally exposed to the elements and it gets HOT.

Tour of temples (guided) as a family of 5- ages 50,50,19,18,11 - we booked on a tour for 4pm with a tour guide on get your guide and it was easy to book and get information. It was reasonable price (for 4, with tour guide, was £100) - We went end of August, and we must say it was sweltering hot. Even until 6.30pm it was unbearable heat. - We are a walking family and can deal with a lot but I must say I would never do it at 4pm or in the day again. It is a MUST to see and visit but I would do it in the evening ! Highly recommend - We bought loads of water, hats, suncream, umbrella and even then it was too hot. Also the walk with a tour guide was around 10,000 steps and once at the end you have to walk all the way back which we didn’t know so if you are doing a tour guide be prepared for a 10,000 step walk and if you book during the day, doing that in 30 degree heat. - Our tour guide was absolutely lovely, however I would say it’s not essential. It’s ‘2 hours’ however I’d say it was quite dragged out and would’ve been better to get an audio guide and map and to have done it yourself. That’s just my opinion as you have freedom then and still have the information . As much as we loved the tour guide, if we were to do it again or visit another archeological site, we’d do it ourselves with a map and perhaps an audio guide. - The temples themselves were gorgeous so would highly recommend going. But as mentioned: bring lots of water, hats etc… Be prepared to walk a long way on a guided tour, even just 5-10k in general, wouldn’t go in the middle of the day (as the sun was setting it was better so around 6-7pm) and you could definitely save the money by doing it yourself and if you want info, hire an audio guide and bring headphones

Ancient Greek archaeological site in the city of Agrigento, Sicily. Impressive structures. After spending a few weeks in Athens Greece this summer and visiting the Acropolis, I was impressed at how well the Valley of the Temples structures are preserved. Only a few minutes drive from the Agrigento city center and quite easy to get to. Parking is 5 euro, make sure you pay for parking at the cash machine before exiting the lot with your car. The entrance fee for 1 adult to visit just the Valley of the Temples is 10 euro. The entrance gate leads you to a stone walkway that leads you through the park. You can walk up to some of the structures while others are fenced off. The park was not too crowded when we visited in mid August, plus with all the open space in the park it is easy to find a shade tree to rest under. Well worth the time and cost to explore such amazing ruins.

It’s a fantastic historical place and it definitely worth to visit. The entrance was little difficult to find. The ticket is 10€ per person. You can go there by bus from the train station. The site is very well maintained and it’s very well organized. The view from the valley is amazing and very impressive.

Beautiful place, well preserved. Each element has detailed information about the context of the building and its function. There should be opened facilities to help visitors. It would be interesting to show ongoing archaeological works.

Amazing place, rich in history. One of the best places to visit in Sicily. The only problem was finding the entrance. There was a lack of directions/signs. Google maps didn’t take us to the correct place (we later found out that this was because the main ticket office had moved). So plan your route carefully to make sure you get the best out of your visit. Take some water too as there is only one cafe and is quite a walk from the entrance.

Great day out and visited as part of a tour. We arrived early and wasn't busy but was getting hot. I would suggest wearing high factor sunscreen and taking some water as there is no protection from the sun. We started at the top with the temple of Hera and headed downhill past the temple of Concordia, Hercules and finally Zeus. Highly recommended

Incredible, I really love it. In the night the temperature was really nice and it was really well lit. The atmosphere I amazing, there is a path that takes you for all the temples. I didn't see buses or something like that so it seems that is necessary to get there by car

The most amazing location I’ve probably visited! Spend some time here. Walk slowly, enjoy the views! Wikipedia has great information. The guide book offered at the ticket office is informative but not really a guide. Worth the cost five times!

This was definitely an amazing experience! Alot of History behind this Superb Architecture. You have to experience it to believe it. There's also a nice little Cafe within the compound and the sandwiches were delicious. According to my friends who actually had one said the Anchovy sandwich was unbelievable.

This place is considered the only place to see former Greek world on such scale. One of the Greek temples is still intact here. The path is 2 km long. There is parking in the south of the area where you can park your car. Overall very interesting experience.

We thought we going to need 3 hrs to visit, ended up being 6. So much to see! I LOVE archeology and gardens so it was definitely a bucket list place for me. We visted end of October, I think it would be best to avoid in full Summer. Definitely bring hat, water and wear great walking shoes.

an impressive archeological site, but a messy car park and organization overall. They were however impressive in controlling green passes, more than informing tourists about what to really do. A bit of a missed opportunity (and almost nothing to buy inside the site, including beverages)

It was an impressive site that went beyond my expectations. We spent almost 3hrs walking around the sites. Some of the structures are really impressive. We opted for the audio guides such that we could enjoy the visit at our own pace together with the kids, and they enjoyed it too. Highly recommended, not to be missed!

An absolutely incredible way to spend an afternoon. The ruins are some of the best preserved Greek temples outside of Athens.

The place was amazing. It’s very beautiful view. Employees are friendly and nice, but they don’t speak other language than Italian. It’s very hard to be a tourist and deal with the language. They have a crazy rule about tripods so you’re not allowed to take pictures with a tripod so all the solo travelers like me we cannot have good pictures because we are solo and this is exactly the reason why solo travelers use tripods so I don’t get this .. they Blamed on UNESCO saying that is their rules but I was in Greece and they don’t care if you have a tripod so I don’t know what’s going on in this place but a guard come to me and start shouting to me because I was using my tripod and I am a solo traveler. I need a tripod. I don’t understand what’s going on with the humans, but this is crazy. Also, the place has no proper signals And I think that is missing some cleaning person on the toilets because the toilets were really dirty. Also these is cause turist are dirty .. is amazing how dirty they can be 🥹I think the government or whoever is taking the administration of this place is doing a bad job. Maybe it’s cause they don’t have a good people to hire but still we are talking about history and you need good people to share the history, so I am not happy with the With the whole experience.. better go to Greece 😇

Amazing place to visit with a very rich history. There's a lot of information to take in so allow yourself a lot of time. Also, if you've organised a driver, make sure that they drop you off at and pick you up at different locations (start and end) or you're in for a hell of a walk. There's a lot of information that's well displayed on plaques.

A must do, very pretty! Go there around 6pm on summer when it closes later at night to get the golden hour on the buildings and the night but be careful because the parking in entrance 1 isn’t intelligent at all! Only one way out even though all the cars are trying to get out at the same time. It was such a mess!

Magnificent ancient ruins, living history, aproxx. 1,5 km long walk, it better to start with Temple of Juno, at the Temple of Heracles you can find a e-scooter back to the top of the hill (3EUR/person). In summer, it is pretty hot, bring water (you can reload it or buy cold drinks in the middle of the Valley).

Must visit if you are in the area. You can spend here few hours but also a whole day as well. Its amazing how you can jump back in history for centuries back during a smooth walk on nice paths. The views are amazing. Really don’t miss it once on the area.

Beautiful. Worth visiting especially for history buffs. It was very hot when we went, and there is not that much shade, so make sure you have plenty of water, sunhat, etc. It was hard to find our way back to the carpark afterwards as Google Maps does not have the accurate pedestrian route!

Mesmerizing Journey Through Time - Valley of the Temples, Agrigento My visit to the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento was an unforgettable experience! As soon as I stepped foot into this ancient archaeological site, I was transported back in time. The well-preserved ruins and majestic temples offered a glimpse into the rich history of this captivating place. Walking among the remnants of the ancient Greek civilization was awe-inspiring. The Temple of Concordia, in particular, left me in awe with its remarkable Doric columns and grandeur. The sheer scale and intricate details of these historical structures were a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient builders. The panoramic views of the surrounding landscape were breathtaking. The valley's lush greenery and the distant Mediterranean Sea created a picturesque backdrop, making it a perfect spot for photography. The site's upkeep and signage were commendable, providing informative insights into each temple's significance and historical context. The well-maintained paths made the exploration smooth and enjoyable. Visiting at sunset added a magical touch to the experience, as the fading sun painted the temples in a warm glow, evoking a sense of serenity and tranquility. I would highly recommend the Valley of the Temples to history enthusiasts, architecture admirers, and anyone seeking a profound cultural experience. Whether you're a solo traveler or visiting with family and friends, this extraordinary site promises an immersive journey through time that will stay with you forever. Kudos to the dedicated staff and authorities for preserving this invaluable heritage and allowing visitors to relive the glory of the past. If you find yourself in Agrigento, the Valley of the Temples should undoubtedly be at the top of your must-visit list!

Amazing place and amazing route by surely the best preserved temples of the world from the Greek times. It is definitely worth a visit, although reaching the valley by car can be a bit tiring if you drive from Palermo or from the Eastern part of Sicily. Tips: if the day is sunny and hot better go with an umbrella and litres of water because there’s no shadow at all there.

Over 2 hours from where we were staying but we'll worth the visit. With temples dating back to 460BC and a phenomenal history athe Valley of the Temples is an absolute must. The literature posted around the temples is very comprehensive and we also purchased a guide book for additional information. We took nearly three hours walking up the hill and back but every minute was encased in history.

Beautiful. We went at night and it still was gorgeous. There's a café for a quick bite, and transportation if needed to go from the entrance to the furthest point of the valley. There's a youth discount as well. Be ready to walk lots if you're on a budget though!

Amazing experience of several well-to-partially preserved temples and foundations for the surrounding society. A gorgeous walk along the course of the park overlooks the sea and fields. Includes a small art museum and cafe. Well complimented by nearby archaeological museum. Was free on Sunday when we went.

This is a very good place to spend a day. This place has two entrances. One entrance has plenty of place to park the car but it’s paid. I didn’t see much options to park there car in the CV other entrance. The ticketing office is there in both sides of the site. Be aware, there are not be many signage to the place like you see in England. If you have kids the make sure you have some id proof of their age because their tickets are always free.

Val dei templi is a must-see. It is an amazing historic site. It wasn't that busy, and I enjoyed the various temples and sites. It is a large area and a lot ground to cover if you want to see it all.

Absolutely beautiful valley charged with so much history! Recommend to join a guided group (you can ask on the spot when buying your ticket) or take an audio guide, to fully hear the story of each temple. Some of them are well preserved, others less, but their story and evolution in time are impressive. Best to visit in the first hours of the day or before sunset (if the latter better to enter from the west entrance and walk to the east, as this shines a superb view on the temples). But me aware that from west to east it’s sloping upwards. (However a mild ish slope). Paid large parking available. There is a bit of a walk - about 2-2,5km one direction, a little bus can be taken for the return.

A pretty amazing place that was so important to ancient cultures. We went in mid September, the temperature was 34 degrees Centigrade though it felt even hotter. A sun umbrella - or any umbrella - would be a great thing to take with you. Lots of guides had them! We didn't do the audio tour however there were quite a few information boards in Italians and English, so we felt reasonably well informed. Being active walkers, we walked much of the site. Probably should have taken the bus! We had a long wait to get in and a long wait to pay for the car park - there is only one payment machine and we left at a busy time.

(It always seems like a joke reviewing ancient monuments - who are the people giving poor reviews!?) Spectacular! The Ancient Greeks were kind enough to build these temples in a neat line with spectacular views from every angle making the visit very enjoyable indeeeeed. Make sure you add this to your Sicily bucket list!

Must see historical place. During day there is very hot but views are worth it. You can also visit that place at evening. When it getting darker the temples are lit up which looks great. Great experience. The temples are stunning and the crowds reasonably rarefied (we were there at sunset by end of September). They told us they would close at 20, but at 20.30 we were still allowed to stroll by the empty streets and had the temples almost all for ourselves.

Great set of “Partenon” like temples, distributed in a valley. We were able to see 5 temples and other ancient structures in less then 2 hours with a guide. A lot if Greek, Romanian and Turkish history associated. If you go to Sicily make sure to visit the valley.

A beautiful place to visit and to have a great walk from one temple to another. Every object has a description so we learned quite a bit even without a guide. Parking is near the entrance, first hour - 2€, the second hour - 1€. We needed to spend some time in the line before entering, since bags must go through the scanner and everyone needed to show their green pass to security guy.

Well worth a visit! Reasonably priced. Great to be able to walk right amongst parts of the ruins. Water fountains, toilets and a nice cafe. Could do with some better signage on the longer walking routes. Was good to visit off season when it was quieter and not so hot.

Really nice place full of history. Very well preserved Temples and Statues. The entrance price is very affordable. I think the best time to visit is during evening. Wander and feel this ancient site 📜 …visiting Sicily it’s a must! If the season is hot, I’d recommend to start your visit around 1700 or later and benefit from the site being open in the evening. The sunset is beautiful here.

It is well worth the trip to the valley of the ages, rich in history, from the ancient Greek city of Agraka to Roman times. The Temple of Concordia is one of the best preserved outside Greece, the structure of the beginning is well organized and complete. It is worthwhile to go further and visit the Turkish stairs.

An incredible place to visit. The 2.2km walk across the valley isn't that long, but caution if you're going in the summer. It's like an oven!! We did an audio guide, but it wasn't that great. I would have been fine just walking around and seeing the temples. There's two major ones, one on either ends of the walk, with the bigger one near the end.

  • 5/5 Anthony 9 months ago on Google
Came here with a 4 year old and 2 year old and low expectations. This place was a blast! We parked in the East lot, took a cab to the top, and walked back down to our car. Shame you have to return the audio tour back to the same gate, I would have loved to hear about the rich history here, but the signage was sufficient. 10/10 one of the best things to do in Sicily.
