Erice is surprising, it is far and hard to find, it's outside the Sicily you get used to love on your trip. At times it seems not to be there, but somewhere else in Europe. It is neat, clean, perfect, ancient... in short, a tile is not missing... and this is one of the most beautiful things: the perfect and continuous flooring. The views that gives this place are amazing, at every corner a new view opens on the horizon. There are many uninhabited houses and one has the impression of walking in a ghost town. The cathedral deserves your attention, you have to go to the top of the tower. The Venus Castle is less of a ruin but offers sensational views of the city, recommended. Good food, traditional pastry shops, clean and fresh air... no trip to Sicily can be such without a visit here.

After spending a few days in downtown Palermo, a visit to Erice was a pleasant surprise. My partner and I are driving around Sicily and drove to Trapani to see that coastal town. While in Trapani, we took the cable car from the town center up the mountain to the town of Erice. Great way to get to Erice and see the surrounding area. Parking for 3 hours near the cable car was 1.5 euro. The price of the cable car was 9.5 euro each. The ride took about 10 minutes and was quite pleasant. The town of Erice is amazingly pleasant. Stone streets that lead you through the beautiful city pass restaurants and shops is a nice way to spend the day. There are viewing areas where you can look out over the town of Trapani and the surrounding areas that offer breathtaking views. Wonderful way to spend a day.

Super nice view from historic place. Many nice old churches and monasteries, and a magnificent castle. View 360 degrees! Also its a bit cooler up there at 800 m height. Try the pastery, there is a nice place in main street almost at the top / close to the piazza.

Stunning views at this beautiful location. Well worth visiting for its beautiful panoramas and the site of a stunning castle ( not open to public). Cable car from Trapini is worth using if on a day trip only.

I would defiantly recommend you visit this place while in Sicily. Absolutely stunning medieval village. The views are breathtaking from this small town in the mountains.

One of the most beautiful views in Sicily. It is located at one of the highest points in Erice, accessible by a car or by foot. It takes roughly 20 minutes to walk to the place but it is worth it. Surrounded by castle and a beautiful park, it truly manages to capture the beauty of Sicily.

Nice spot but not the main one. Move up towards the main castle and the garden for the best views

This is a parking lot, not the view you might expect! You need to go a bit uphill to see Monte Cofano

The best way to discover Erice is by Foot, the Trails are starting in the near of the Cable Car Station. They Way up takes maybe 90 Minutes. The City up there looks like a Big Museum, very authentic.

No reason for this view point. From the Erice castle, there is much better view. Because of trees and bushes, view is limited.

Such an exposed place, increadible view in all directions. The small town is lovely. Make sure to come off season if possible. The narrow roads become easily crowded with tourist groups.

You must visit the Erice town, but don't come to this "panorama" place. If you want a panoramic view, cross the Porta Spada and go left to Via Piscina Apollinis.

Wow wow wow what a beautiful ride and view from up there. We missed the motorway exit and had to approach from the east rather than directly from the south-west - which turned out to be a really nice drive!

I was there many years ago and stayed with my great aunt. I met many of my relatives. It was beautiful and I wish I could have stayed longer.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Beautiful area to take a walk and also admire the view of the Sicilian countryside and Trapani, the major city that is located on the coast. There are things for everyone. πŸ‘πŸ‘ Amazing gothic ceiling in this church. Nice view from the bells tower. I will say it’s the only two landmarks worth visiting, but for one euro more, you can buy the fulltour for 6 euros and can visit 3 others.
