This gym is inadequate for someone interested in serious strength training, as evidenced by the fact that the trainers have their clients doing "fluff and pump" (i.e. isolation/machine work, "functional" fitness, classes, etc.) They only have three squat racks despite having tons of floor space; the gym I normally train at has 12. Moreover, when I was here, someone hogged a rack for--get this--25 sets, which took over 2.5 hours. He would leave the rack for minutes at a time to go do something else and then return, all the while not allowing anyone to use the rack. The gym should amend their rules to prevent such behavior, or look into purchasing more racks. I will not be returning.

These are the worst people to deal with! I have not been in that club since July 2017. I had a dental surgery because of a fractured tooth that time. I woke up with an unbearable nerve pain and ended up in ER that night. Few days later, after getting my tooth extracted, I went there and showed all my paperwork. They already owed me 3 sessions by then. I was told I will get my training sessions when Iā€™m ready and will not be charged for anything going forward. Here are my charges just for training since then (copied from actual credit card estatement) 1/31/2018 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL CT USA (224.44) 09/29/2017 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL US USA (135.45) 08/01/2017 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL US USA (250.00) 07/08/2017 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL US USA (207.09) Not to mention, my monthly charge from my debit card never stopped. Shady business practices. Advertised as a monthly subscription, but once you sign up, youā€™re stuck paying for up to two years unless you are physically handicapped or deployed to fight in a war. They donā€™t show you their cancellation policy until AFTER you sign up for a membership. Iā€™m not sure how they are even still open, there are SO MANY terrible reviews of people with the same issue. I wish I read the reviews before signing up, but it was close to me and seemed to be a good gym. It really is a scam, they steal from you and wonā€™t let you cancel, even if youā€™ve literally never gone. I unfortunately am unable to go and have been trying to cancel for months now, pretty much immediately after signing up as I was no longer able to go. I havenā€™t been one time but they still insist on stealing from me.

The sales manager is so rude and not honest. I came to the gym a few days ago 5o get an idea about their prices and today I wanted to get the free pass in order to try the gym and then make the decision to join. She refused to give the free pass because I don't have the state ID. I said ok, I want to sign the lease for 12 months, she said no, you only can get the student memebrship which is for 3 months. I left the gym due to her way of talking and her unfriendly language. I don't know why she was treating me like this, I don't care and I'm happy to not see her in a gym I'll be working at.

Personal trainer Susan is amazing. I started training with Susan back in July and I was immediately impressed by her professionalism and her eagerness to create a work out plan to help ease me back into weight training and to get me motivated and stay focused. Susan helped me focus on proper lifting form and I steadily saw my strength gains weekly while avoiding injury. Susan is a great motivator and it was an absolute pleasure to have worked with her. I highly recommend her training services.

Great place and team, just make sure they don't put auto-renewal contract, otherwise you will be stuck with them for another year. The other option is the customer service line. (the stuff they don't say when you're signing the contract.

4/21/2020 Edit: I have worked with ABC Financial and cancelled my account months ago. Today I find that they have charged me again for the yearly $49.99 fee. Previous post: This company has the worst cancellation policies. You're locked into a year-long contract. When I spoke to the manager about canceling, he told me the only way to do it was by registered mail. What company in this age has such antiquated policies? They use a third-party vendor to handle the cancellations so the phone numbers direct to that other company who has no authority to do anything other than to "look into it" and read their policy to you. I was told by this other company, ABC Financial, that I could cancel by email. This was not what the manager had told me so whether that's their policy to direct people to the registered mail to make it more difficult or if he flat out lied, I'm not sure. When canceling, they still make you wait another 30 days. If you were charged for anything, they will not give you any refund if you have an active policy. So beware, you will get a yearly equipment maintenance fee of $49.99 every year in addition to the monthly membership. My trainer quit because he was being pushed by management into being a salesperson and upselling me on their supplements. Rotten policies all around. No care for the customer.

You will be solicited by phone and by email with no options to unsubscribe because the Edge doesn't respect your wishes. The Edge also doesn't respond to equipment issues that you report. They just dont bother maintaining anything that isn't 100% broken. For example, one of their treadmills has an intermittently defective heart rate monitor. I assume that's not important enough for them to fix, so they don't bother. It works about half the time. Two of their other treadmills do not increase in incline if you set them to. For example if you attempt to incline from 5%-15%, the treadmill is about 50% likely to remain at 5%. I enjoy my time at the gym but I've come to understand that it has a business model that cares about its bottom line more than it cares about irritating its members. I paid cash for a year in advance. I suspect their business model relies on upselling extra training services and their retail products. I'm probably costing then more money than its worth by being a standard member. That's the only reason I can think of that they won't stop emailing me despite my many requests. They probably want me to stay home! If that doesn't bother you, then everything else is fine. They do a good job keeping the men's locker room clean.

I typically frequent the Stratford location because they have more machines to help target lower body but I started to come to Trumbull because itā€™s closer to my house. While this gym is good for upper body workouts itā€™s not the best for lower body. I didnā€™t see as many machines, especially not for targeting the glutes. The reason I rated a 3 is because more than half the times I come here the cleaning wipes are not replenished. On average I stay at the gym for an hour and I never see anyone replenishing them. Itā€™s pretty disgusting working out on a machine that has sweat on it and itā€™s equally as gross to have someone working out on a machine I sweat on. Please be more consistent with this, itā€™s not really sanitary.

Staff and management discriminates against bodybuilders. Staff and it's management does not handle complaints well. They have way to many trainers and staff members which convalud workout sessions. The gym has also become radically feminized.

Iā€™ve been an Edge member for years; Fairfield and Norwalk locations are fantastic. Trumbull, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Cardio equipment is often non working, there are generally about three to four people at the front desk who rarely say hello or goodbye yet donā€™t seem to be doing anything else; the only people I see working routinely here-and who are always friendly-are the cleaners. They deserve raises! Rates also went up recently but they now prohibit access to a previously available studio-and I was just ā€œreprimandedā€ (zero professionalism, no ā€œIā€™m sorry butā€¦ā€) for walking into a yoga class which had been over for 15 minutes (supposed to end at 11.20, and while the class was no longer in session, there were several people still stretching in the studio). I walked in quietly, respectfully, and put my mat well out of the way of anyone else. When I questioned the employee why I couldnā€™t come in after a class was over by 15 minutes, he simply stated again ā€œyou canā€™t enter the studio whenever thereā€™s a class, even if itā€™s running over.ā€ Meanwhile, the one common area for free weights was packed. This gym is often way overcrowded, itā€™s difficult to find a parking spot unless youā€™re here at odd hours, service (again, except for the cleaners) is lackluster at best, and after this interaction, weā€™ll no longer be back to this location. Definitely recommend checking out Norwalk or Fairfield over this Trumbull Edge.

The equipment and facility is excellent. But the staff especially the management was horrible no one was willing to help me figure out a billing problem I was having. I was getting billed all over the place they really didnā€™t want to hear about it even when I brought in credit card records to show them.I do understand thereā€™s a billing company thatā€™s involved as well but a lot of the times the issue starts at the club. It all culminated resulted in one of the managers there lying to me directly to my face which I found out later by my own investigating. I found out that thatā€™s how the management deals with a problem there. Told me there was no problem to them lie to me and dealt with the problem behind the scenes. I do understand thereā€™s a billing company thatā€™s involved as well but a lot of the times the issue starts at the club. It all culminated resulted in one of the managers there lying to me directly to my face which I found out later by my own investigating. Long and short the staff well I canā€™t say all of them most at the desk are helpful amd friendly. The managment just didnā€™t want to hear anything about my problem and then when they realized they were in error after my pestering with my statements month after month .. went into the system fixed the problem and then told me there was never a problem .. managment horible amd dishonest is the moral here .

Itā€™s just sad how they treat people. In first place when I joined, the woman make me believe that I could cancel after 6 months, which is not true. And now that I just moved from CT to New York they refuse to cancel my membership, since Iā€™m still 13.5 miles away from the nearest edge. In another words, I have to travel more than 1.5 hours every day, going to another state just because they believe that Iā€™m able to do that. All the stress and tiredness apart from humiliation just isn't worth it

Highly disappointed on the Kids care. For some one who has never done their care, and tried it- I will never again. I also haven't been contacted after directly messaging them about this horrible experience. I walked in not knowing how the process was, no one greeted. A guy and a woman were there staring at me and I let them know my child is 10 months and wanted to try them out. All they asked was to sign in and I guess I was supposed to know what to do next. Anyways, they told me I can leave my son in the play area. Once trying to figure out what the right place would be, I was informed Their was an infant area. Let me tell you, it was a total mess in there. No where to leave my son or even walk in. I sat him in a corner, hoping the staff would engage and no one did. However, I let the staff there know , if my son cries a lot- come and grab me so I can get him. I get a call after my class was finished, and I immediately went to the kids area. I was approached by the staff that my son had an ā€œaccidentā€. I panicked, my child's face was so red and agitated when I saw him. The ā€œaccidentā€ was that he pooped. Anyways, when asking the staff if he was crying I got ā€œhe was crying an awful lotā€ not sure how trained their staffing is with infants, i would never trust them again. I understand they donā€™t diaper change etc, but when reading their policies letting your child cry for a bit is uncomfortable enough- leaving my baby crying for about 50 minutes is ridiculous. Would not recommend leaving infants there at all.

I have not gone to the gym since COVID started. I am also 65 years old. I was charged and paid my annual fee in august at that time I also had to put I it writing that I wanted to end my commitment to Edge. I paid my September bill but was tile that I had to wait one month after sending in my cancellation. I received a October bill. Call the edge to have them credit my account. They refused and sent me to a credit agency Also beware that your personal trainer visits expire if not used in a year. Bad business. Not willing to work with the elderly especially during this COVID crisis. Poor management

After being a regular at the Fairfield Edge, which is another exceptional gym, I have been even more impressed by the facilities, staff and members at Trumbull. This gym is a 5 minute drive from our new place, and as much as I love Fairfield, the Trumbull Edge is our go-to gym now. The equipment is new and in good condition, and the layout is optimized for a smaller space for the cable cross / functional trainers / individual stations. The free weight section is large, airy and well-lit, with multiple (I stopped counting at 4!) Smith racks and ample benches and weights. While the gym is markedly smaller than Fairfield or LA Fitness Norwalk, the natural light and intelligent layout makes it very easy to navigate. The smoothie bar has proper seating that is out of the way of incoming/outgoing traffic, making it much more of a social venue than other gyms. The crowd is fit and serious about fitness, which is an added motivator. There are small groups of younger people, but none of the idling around and lollygagging, so anyone concerned about this dynamic can rest assured it is not an issue at all. It does get crowded at the usual times (weekdays 5-7 pm and 9-10 am weekends), but so does every other gym. I would add another functional trainer and Hammer Strength individual bicep station, but this is nitpicking. I would also add that as a gay couple new to Connecticut, we have felt nothing but welcome by the staff and personal trainers, and have found the members across all ages to be almost univerally polite, considerate, friendly and sociable. This is definitely not the case in many other gyms, even gyms in supposedly "progressive" cities/towns, so is a welcome additional plus point.

Over all a really good place. I joined about 3 months ago with new trainer to start. I'm 67 and over weight so need some help. SayQuan is the trainer. He's perfect, motivates, encourages, changes things up. I'm already feeling better, stronger, and losing weight slowly. I visited a couple other locations as equipment is a bit different. I actually went to Shelton first to sign up but was not comfortable with the "shady" sales process. Went to Trumbull and they were straight up. Everyone there is very friendly, always saying Hello, good bye, how are you. Good people.

Don't sign up for a membership. They advertise that it's a monthly payment but when you try to cancel, they reveal that the fine print locks you in for a year. Then the only way you can cancel is if you're disabled or show a proof of lease. Also the gym equipment was so dirty in Norwalk and the music was so loud you couldn't hear your own music playing. Every location has terrible parking.

Not a fan of the layout here, all the machines are so crammed together and on top of it you have all the cardio users above you on the treadmills watching you from below. Itā€™s just not a good setup and for the amount of members they have itā€™s impossible to be able to use any of the equipment when you want to use it. I did one day of my week trial and that was enough for me.

I have been a member of the Trumbull club for 5 months and I absolutely love it! I have belonged to other fitness clubs and there is absolutely no comparison! My first impression of the Trumbull club was how clean and well kept it was. My wife insisted that I get a trainer and to be honest I thought that would be a waste of my time and money. I hate to admit it but I was dead wrong. My personal trainer SayQuon is extremely motivating and goes out of his way to assist me even when I am not his client! The staff consisting of Connor, Chris, Tyler and Jack make me feel more like a friend then a client. They too will stop whatever they are doing to snswer and explain any questions I have about the equipment. I actually look forward to coming to the club to see the staff! What I really find fascinating is the clientele at the Trumbull Club. The members are friendly, complimentary and motivating. I have never been at a club this friendly!

Been a member on and off since around 2008. Great value over. I left Connecticut at one point and dealing with ABC financial (company that is contracted out to deal with the financial part of your membership) was a nightmare. They where telling me facts about the contract that where not actually in the contract and requesting things like mail showing my new address as proof that I moved out of CT. Main problem was I was in training on a military base with mail restrictions and in the Middle East the 2 times I tried to cancel and they werenā€™t at all helpful when I told them that wasnā€™t really an option and there was nothing in the contract that I saw about this. Terrible company to deal with but was able to cancel the membership after about a year of trying to navigate ABCs cancellation policy. Overall gym is one of the best values in CT. Been to every location in Connecticut. Few pros/ cons: 1) They get busy at times and some locations get unbearably packed even before work but the google tool is pretty accurate in seeing what location is empty at what times so itā€™s easy to plan around that. 2)They where 24 hours for a while at some locations so that was convenient. I believe theyā€™ll bring that back when the pandemic is over but I havenā€™t heard anything official. 3)The staff is friendly and always super helpful and honestly never had a negative experience outside the whole ABC financial situation. Went to school with a lot of current and former employees and I could genuinely say they hire people with good integrity and values. Iā€™d definitely recommended but just be ready for some lies and difficulty when/if you ever need to cancel. The process is again done through ABC financial so I donā€™t want to make it seem like the edge is the problem but ABC does have a 1.1 stare rating and the edge chooses to contact that responsibility to them. Just be aware of that beforehand. 4) The cardio Cinema is absolutely amazing. That alone is worth the already low monthly price. Hope this review helps yā€™all make an informed decision from a long time customer.

After reading the reviews, I thought I would write and address some of the things I've read. People that work there: I've found that everybody that works there is nice. Overcrowded : Sometimes, what really gets me is when people hog the equipment. Either using two or three machines going from one to another or sitting on the bench on the phone. Equipment : There are a lot of minor things wrong. ripped grips or worn pads on the machines. Still the things work for the most part. I'm not sure why they would let that stuff go. It's a small price to fix and I think makes the gym look bad. Still, they work, I guess. Signing the contract : The salespeople are trained to sell. You have to be an adult to join so, take responsibility and read the contract. No different that buying a car. They want you to read it on the computer screen, don't. Know what you're agreeing to. I hate ABC so I pay up front for a year. ABC Financial : The worst company I've ever dealt with. They make it impossible to talk to someone. It's hard to complain when you have no access so I guess they win. I would never give them my CC number. If you want to go work out for about 20.00 a month, this is a good value. Most of the people working out with you are nice, you can make some friends and stay in shape. The employees are nice and helpful. For the most part, the equipment works. I've been a member for about three years so, I must think it's OK. I hope this revue helps someone

Everything you'd want except a pool and sauna... but it's only 10 bucks a month at the lower end. Some of their bigger clubs do have saunas though. Staff seems good, shakes are expensive but what else is new I just use my syntha-6. Has tanning, cardio cinema, turf section, good class selection and a lot of different sections to train. For my fellow MMA/wrestling athletes there is no Jacob's ladder but there are are legit stairclimbers.

Staff are nice and they keep the place clean. Itā€™s a good gym that has everything you could want, whether you want the occasional Zumba, or self directed strength training. Cardio in the movie theater is an added bonus.

Great Edge location. They have amazing group fitness instructors. It's always clean. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. There is also a theatre room which is unique.

They've extended the registration time to 48 hours ahead instead of the 25 it was before. All that did was fill up the popular classes 23 hours earlier. I haven't heard a reason for the change.

DONā€™T SIGN UP! ITS A SCAM! I made an account that was advertised as a monthly subscription. I was unable to go and still havenā€™t been able to go once, and tried to cancel my membership. They do not let you cancel until one-two years, unless you get a doctors note. Then they decide if itā€™s a good enough reason, as if they are smarter than doctors. The only other way is if you get deployed or have boot camp. pretty extreme, I know. Itā€™s been months of them stealing from me and me not being able to go once. Obviously if I have not been once thereā€™s a good reason, but because iā€™m not disabled or being shipped to fight in a war, they deny my countless requests to cancel. If you like being stolen from and scammed, then this gym is for you!

BEWARE, ITā€™S A SCAM! you will be stuck paying for a year, even though the membership is supposed to be a month to month. there is no info on the cancellation policy until after youā€™ve signed up and payed for the membership, thatā€™s how they f you. If you look at all the lowest reviews, thereā€™s so many saying the same thing. there are so many terrible reviews, iā€™m not sure how the overall rating is 4 stars. iā€™ve tried countless times to cancel my membership because i can no longer go, but because my reason isnā€™t extreme enough, they basically told me ā€œf youā€. they will only let you cancel if you are in boot camp or disabled. i can no longer afford it but they are fine with continuing to steal from me. donā€™t sign up to this place, find a better place that doesnā€™t have such horrible, shady business policies.

Robbie was pivotal in getting me all set up with my membership here at The Edge and helped make me feel comfortable about getting back in the gym, and itā€™s a nice feeling knowing that if i have any questions that could come up Robbie and his crew are willing to go above and beyond to help get the answer. The crew here at Trumbull really has been a great source of motivation keeping me motivated about getting back into the swing of getting fit.

I enjoy the gym. It can get crowded but hey, Iā€™m comfortable there. I had a wonderful trainer name Greg for a while. The staff is pleasant, especially a gentleman I usually see at check in.
