Awesome gym- I have been going here for almost a year now and I love this place. The gym is clean, it is relatively big for Boston, the locker room is nice, they have showers/sauna, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Also a huge plus is that they have a parking lot above the gym that is complimentary. Definitely try to avoid the more popular times or it may get hard to the machine you are looking for and it is also important to point out that the gym hours for the weekend close at 4:00 PM instead of the usual 9:00/10:00 PM closing time during the week.

Great, Reasonably Priced Gym. I just got a membership about a month ago after 2 years at planet fitness. Happy to say I've enjoyed everything so far! It's definitely worth the cost in my opinion, especially when you include the classes (spin, pilates, yoga, barre etc). Parking is validated as well. They have clean bathrooms and showers, towel service as well. My only issue I can perceive is if you need late night or weekend gym access. Gym closes at 10 on weekdays and early on weekends. But for the average 9-5 person, this gym makes sense. They also offer a discount for healthcare workers and students! P.s. for all the girls out there, this is not a "bro" gym. There's a higher ratio of men to women, but everyone is very focused on their own thing.

DO NOT JOIN Been a Member for the Gym for 3 Years and it was a good gym until they recently changed the Gym Workers (Staff). Absolutley rude to their Gym Members. Staff in the reception Racially profile you when you ask for somthing they just ignore as if you were a ghost, very disgusted, especially the Staff Member SAM. 😡😡

Should be open later then 4 pm on Saturday. Ridiculous.

An excellent gym! Super clean, very spacious, great selection of weights/machines/etc and it is all in good condition. Very happy with the place so far. Really the only complaint I’ve got is the hours on the weekend aren’t great, I wish they were open later.

Fantastic gym! The welcome I had from staff is what you would expect in a first class business lounge, really helpful & friendly which sets it apart from other gyms. The equipment is top quality but the part I most look forward to each visit is the recovery room with infrared sauna & ice recovery, it’s really well thought out and allows for a good wind down after a hard session. The cafe downstairs does great coffee and provides a really nice space to chill or do some work post workout.

This Gym is going down hill fast. 3 machines not working, one shower not working. The showers that are working not clean and the toilets really stink. First visit after some months off, now I have cancelled my membership.

Brilliant gym the toilets could do with more attention there was a big log floating in the toilet it only took one flush to get rid of it.

The swimming pool, changing rooms and showers are contagious with verruca warts.

It's clean. But then it gets so crowded around 5-6 and they don't have that many treadmills. But the amenities are nice. They have a sauna. It's sometimes broken but when it's operating, it's nice. The showers are a little gross.

I've been a member at a lot of gyms over the years. New Balance is the best! The facility is SPOTLESS! Literally cleaner than my home. The staff is extremely friendly. The manager Scott is a great guy. He's become an actual friend over the years. If you're looking for a really nice gym, New Balance is the place.

If you have the chance to read this prior to signing up for a membership please proceed with caution. Scott signed me for a membership last year that was supposed to be month to month no contract because I was traveling to work in the area. Well I got charged for the second month which wasn’t a big deal I forgot to let them know I no longer needed the services so I called him because I wasn’t in the area anymore due to being on a different jobsite, Scott found it to be inconvenient and humorous that I asked them to no longer charge the card and Cancel any future services. Well here we are 3 months later with over 50+ attempts to charge my card anyways after I have emailed and called this business. SCAM artists. I literally wrote an email stating I no longer wanted the services and was charged for the month of December despite not using the gym and he continues to attempt billing on January and February. Then refers that he needs it in writing, that’s what the email was for. SMH

Love this gym. It has everything I need and is never too crowded where I have to wait around for equipment. My only complaint is the hours are terrible. For the price you pay, you’d think it would be open past 4pm on the weekends…wish they would expand the hours to 9pm on weekends cus some of us do work sat and sun.

Easily one of the best gyms I've ever belonged to. The staff is incredibly helpful. The classes are awesome, with my favorite being the Thursday night spin classes. The personal trainers are phenomenal too and it is well worth the time to use the free session that comes with joining.

Be aware of their "membership fees" . I have not use the gym for over 8 months, i have asked their manager Scott to cancel my membership over and over again and he was very rude and unrespectful of my decision. Not only they still charge my card, they also use a different names to collect the charges after i have blocked them. Such a scam!!! So dissapointed. Stay away from this gym.

Went in today to get a month membership for one month to see how I liked it. They wanted to charge me for two months. Apparently you have to join this gym on the first of the month. I slowly backed out of the gym waiting for someone to bend a simple rule. Should have been easy. You can't run a single location as if you had many.

Delightful little cafe to watch the world go by and eat stuff that doesn't make you feel like a fat knacker. I assume you get fit just by being close to the gym...?

Don't sign up manager rude they wont let you cancel and staff will tell you the wrong way to cancel just to get you to go away rather than deal with you. Trying to cancel my account on numerous occasions now being billed for months i clearly cant use or armt using plus my membership is suspended. Watch out dont sign up

Gym very modern and some staff very helpful but membership wise like a pit bull with locked jaws. Originally understood to join for 6 months and told we could cancel any time after that. After 6 months both hubby and i tried to cancel today due to health reasons which will eventually clear up and we wanted to rejoin when we were sorted. Told need a doctors letter saying we couldn't go for 3 months to cancel AND had to pay for those 3 months or face extortionate financial penalties and the bailiffs. Under protest we will have to pay money as pensioners we can I'll afford. Hell will freeze over before I would recommend this place to anyone.

Not a bad gym, although it does get very busy making it difficult to use some machines.

Great location for the gym as in an easy to find spot plus good amount of parking. Entrance to the gym is nice and spacious with reception on the right with some drink machines and then to the left the cafe. Both changing rooms are downstairs on the same floor as the swimming pool. Mens changing room is clean and tidy with card operated lockers making it easy. The lockers are a good size to for getting everything in, towels are charge at a pound or you can add an amount to your membership and get one ever visit. The swimming pool has four lanes and good sizing so a few people can swim. There’s a hot tub, sauna and steam room with a shower in between and loungers. The gym itself is upstairs and laid out in a good way so you can get a good workout without going all over the gym for a specific machine. There’s a free weights area, machine weights area, cardio/boxing area with two punch bags, cardio machines and a small stretching area. They do have studio rooms but didn’t get to look. Showers are standard with body wash nothing special. Very good gym and wasn’t overly crowded either.

I went just the once as I was traveling for work and wanted to swim. But the pool was very nice, the sauna, steam room and hot tub were also excellent. The staff were lovely and I also enjoyed the cafe where the food was great and reasonably priced.

The usual staff members are incredible. Friendly and welcoming.

The pool area of Nuffield is quite good but the main gym area is very small and all the machines are too close together. And it's extortion.

Terrible experience with the general manager, Scott. They charge $15 per month to rent a small cubby hole locker that barely fits my shower caddy. There are PLENTY of full length lockers in their HUGE locker room that are always empty. I reached out to Scott letting him know that I go to work right after the gym 5 days a week and therefore need to keep a significant amount of personal care items in my locker to get ready every day. The cubby hole lockers are simply not big enough. Scott told me that those are the only ones that they rent and when I asked why he said "because those are the ones designated for rental" and when I said that is not a reason and makes NO sense, he patronizingly told me that I am entitled to my opinion, but that's the rule. As the GM (he let me know there is no one else above him that I could speak to) he can change the stupid rule, but would rather power trip than satisfy a client. Sad.

Incredibly clean, great amenities, great quantity and diversity of equipment. It does get busy from 5-7ish on weekdays but at that time the gym is filled with the energy of people who are trying to better themselves, which inspires me to push myself even harder. I'm a huge fan of this gym and am glad to have found a home here!

I really love this gym even though the membership price is a bit high. The gym is very neatly maintained like a 5 star hotel. Plenty of hand towels and shower towels. Large mens room with plenty of lockers, toilets and bathrooms. There is a free water bottle station. What is really like are the free group classes with options for Yoga, Zumba, HIIT, tread & toning and more. The gym floor is filled all kinds equipments. No need to wait.

Been in this gym over a year. Didn’t enjoy the vibe. People at the front desk rarely interact with you when you come in. With the prices I am paying, there’s no pool included. Entire area is smaller than expected. Can be very busy and have to fight for fitness equipment. Hours are stingy-Ly during the weekends. Overall, it’s a gym I would not go back once I love this neighborhood

The gym is a bit on the pricier end. But the gym is very nice. It has all the equipment I would need as someone who primarily lifts weights and runs. Can get busy on weekdays after work hours. The provide towels which is a nice touch

As much as I’d love to keep this gym all to myself, I have to speak up— I’ve had nothing but good experiences at NB. Impeccably clean with a well-designed physical space and a wide variety of equipment. I was a member a couple years ago but left when I got a new job. (No problems canceling my membership as other reviewers have reported). Now that I work in the area I decided to check them out again, and I’m so glad I did. They recently did a huge expansion with huge, beautiful locker rooms (tons of showers) and new fitness studios for group classes (free for members). My only small complaint is that I wish the class schedule included a greater variety of time slots, but I’m hoping that they will expand as the gym continued to grow. Despite the high end renovation, the rates remain very reasonable.

Somewhere between a high end gym and spa, I am new member and can't wait to get back into the gym when lockdown is lifted. It's a very zen, tranquil and clean gym with lots of open space, natural light and lots of plants.

What a high standard environment! The changing rooms are tidy and clean, full of large mirrors and all the accessories you might needed to make you feel and look at your best after a gym session or a class. Also there is a direct access to the restore area where you can enjoy both the regular sauna as well as infrared sauna. Gorgeous!!

I've been a member here since day dot. The staff are friendly and if you're a regular you'll get to know them well along with the members too. There's a really nice community vibe here where everyone talks to each other. The staff are knowledgeable, not pushy, genuinely want to do the best for their members and will regularly ask for feedback. I mainly do the classes rather than the gym as I prefer someone telling me what to do and not having to think about reps and what to do next. I've tried all the classes but my favourite and go to is Super60; I like the strength and cardio side to it. The class sizes are not big so you get extra focus from the PTs which is useful if your form or posture is not quite right. When I have the time, I use the sauna or infrared sauna after the class. They do the job in relaxing the body and mind although they are closed at the moment (quite rightly) because of COVID-19 restrictions. The power shower afterwards is just brilliant!! The place is clean and modern including their cafe. The food is tasty and nutritious and their coffee is great too. As a vegan, there is always something available and the menu changes everyday. The cafe is a quiet place to go if you want to get some work done on your laptop or just read. I've been a member at other gyms including chains and council ones over the last 2 decades. Taking into account the varied membership options, Supersonic by far is the best all rounder for me. The gym has just re-opened following lockdown. There are procedures in place to keep themselves and members safe as per the guidelines. I'm happy to be back and see familiar faces; staff and members alike....just patiently waiting for the cafe to be re-opened now :)

Completely new fitness experience for York. The friendliest environment I’ve ever trained in. The cafe is also first class. Food amazing.

Great place.

I've have attend yoga and pilates classes, the instructors were engaging, given just the right amount of instruction, I've learnt something new at each class. The studio is fabulous, clean, private, nice temperature, offering small group teaching. I'll be booking my 10 sessions for £100, so worth the little extra money for small group instruction and super facilities.

As a First time Gym goer. I love that all the staff are welcoming and knowledgable about health, especially when helping me towards my goals. The layout of gym gives me all the space I need and all the equipment to challenge myself. There is also an infrared sauna to recover in. The cafe has great healthy food and coffee that motivates me to be better. Highly recommend this place for anybody at any level of fitness. Thank you everyone at Supersonic.

Finally, a beautiful gym in York that you actually want to spend time in! Every little detail has been so well though through and the team have made me feel part of the family already. Love my training sessions and I don't dread getting changed afterwards as it's so spa-like! The cafe below serves tasty, healthy food, and I'm using it even when i'm not training. A little piece of zen in the city centre - highly recommended!

Don't let the exterior put you off! Welcoming staff both in the gym and cafe and everyone is always asking if there is anything they can help with. Coffee is great, still waiting to try the grub but the menu looks brilliant. As for the gym itself, it's light, spacious, clean and you don't feel even remotely judged. The guys who have put this gym together have definitely done it right, it is what York has been waiting for!

Terrible gym. Everything is broken.

Machines are sometimes covered in sweat and no longer have wipes available. If this isn't corrected I will look for another gym - quite disgusting. Why have wipes been removed

Alright given the price to be fair, but customer service has been dreadful. Even with a three month cancellation notice, I was charged for an extra month despite being told this wouldn't happen, and can't get a refund. Now resolved without a refund. Thanks.

I think it looks a good gym except I'm 15 and everyone is so judgemental and thinking I'm going to be messing around but I've got a goal that i want and need to achieve. I'm not there to just be on my phone I want to work hard not play around.

Pick the right time and it's a well equipped gym. Pick the wrong time and it's full of kids leaving weights around and playing on their phones.

Good gym

Cheap membership fees, but the contract is hell to get out of. I followed the contract to the letter to cancel, and they have been hell to deal with. I have no idea why gyms are running a policy of seriously screwing people around to end a gym membership. I will see them in court, most people wouldn't be so determined to not be screwed over and would just pay up. They are comitticom fraud, really. Plenty of other reviews have said the same thing.

Outstanding Physiotherapy care. I was asked to have physiotherapy care following surgery in November. Having seem a couple of physiotherapists over the years without much benefit, I was slightly doubtful as to how effective this would be. I was badly mistaken. My physiotherapist, Ryan Cross made it clear from the start that we could get results that would bring me back 'up to speed'. He was professional and made it very clear I was given his individual attention. His evidence based approach was tailored to my needs resulting in a full programme of recovery. I cannot recommend the Nuffield Health Physiotherapy team enough, especially the care and attention of Mr. Cross. I count myself very lucky to have benefited from his care and that of the Nuffield Health Centre. Thank you.

This is more of a question than a review, the gym is alright but is Stuart Whitehead still working there? Stuart is one of the cleaning staff members.

The facility is spotless and there is always people around cleaning, making sure everyone is following guidelines and I have always felt safe working out here during COVID. Equipment is high quality and staff is friendly. 10/10 recommend.

NB Fitness Club is awesome. The facility is SO clean. The club has been so good with COVID protocols, I feel so safe attending during the pandemic. They have followed all government protocols perfectly. Their spin classes aren't available at this time (due to pandemic), but once they are, they are a MUST along with their outdoor classes when the weather is nice! Love being a member!

Good equipment and overall everyone seems to have good gym etiquette. There’s plenty of parking as well. It does get busy at times but its not crazy. I do find it odd how they have 3 guys at the counter while 1 guy is going around cleaning. Specially right now… everyone should be making an effort to keep the gym cleaned and sanitized. Including signs to remind everyone to wipe down their equipment after each use.

Been going here for 3 years now. Aside from them shutting down (for covid reasons which is obviously out of their control). I have absolutely loved my time there, gym is clean, staff is friendly and the facilities there are great! They clearly make an effort to keep their patrons happy!
