We came here during the Memorial Day weekend 2021. This was our first time here. It was raining on the way here and for a short period time after arriving but it eventually stopped and we were able to enjoy the Zoo. Parking was pretty easy and was just a short walk to the main gate. Once through the main gate there is an inside exhibit, we hung out in there for while because they had a few new baby animals and it was neat to see how they act with their mothers. A few exhibits was closed at this time but nothing that would stop you from having a good time! They have so many animals to see and enjoy! One of my favorites were the 3 giraffes, which was amazing to see because most Zoos I been to either have 1,2 or none at all. Be prepared because it is a lot of walking so bring your best walking/running shoes. Can’t forget the beer! Beer was good and cold! However, this Zoo is kind of pricey because you have to pay for parking and admission, which is unheard of. All of the Zoos I have been to you either paid for admission and parking was free or you paid for parking and admission was free. I still recommend visiting the Philadelphia Zoo. You will have a great time!

We enjoyed our visit to the zoo immensely! It was a gorgeous day to enjoy the animals, the sunshine, and the beautifully landscaped pathways. We were disappointed that we couldn't see some of our favorites like the penguins and flamingos (due to avian flu precautions). We especially enjoyed the family of gorillas. :) If you plan to visit more than once in a year, I highly recommend investing in a membership!

Did the Luminature (sp?) light path through the Zoo tonight. It was so nicely laid out, and so neat. Even my 13 year old really enjoyed it. About $18 per adult, parking was about $17. Just an FYI, lots of people parked on the street leading to the line for entry. So, maybe you can save that cash. Entry begins after 1700. There are a few food stands, couple of shops were open, and food trucks. There is also an area with tables that have small fires so you can do s'mores. I think the s'mores kits might be around $8/$10. Anyway, if you want to spend a solid hour or longer checking out the lights, enjoying the music, etc.... Head on out to the Zoo in Philly!!!

Went on a Thursday and got tickets for 9:30am. Perfect time to go. I read reviews before going to the zoo and honestly I was nervous about the amount of animals I would get to see. But reading the reviews was wrong for me because I had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to go back! Yes some things were closed due to the pandemic but that’s understandable. I saw SO many animals so I didn’t mind. I had such a great time! Parking wasn’t hard to get so many spots when you go early. Restrooms are in the park easy to find. Love how much room the animals have. It is a lot of walking but it is enjoyable cause of the animals and the scenery. They have a gift shop + even food places were open. Also it was awesome to see everyone wearing masks when inside the exhibits when needed, I didn’t feel nervous at all because everyone was wearing them. Enough space in the park because it’s so big! Been to zoos where they are small. I totally recommend this zoo! It was cool watching the workers fed/clean the animals area. So many animals to be seen at this zoo and you won’t be disappointed! I wasn’t, I left feeling very happy! Some animals were hard to see because they were either sleeping or due to heat but came back around and saw them later on! Included just some of the animals I saw in pictures. I saw so many animals but don’t wanna overflow with photos and let everyone just experience the animals in person themselves! Was reading reviews and people said they didn’t see some animals that I saw, maybe it was off day, but so many to be seen!

My family and I visit the Zoo at least once a year. Every year we get to see all of the animals. But this years was different. Majority of the animals were moved in door due to a suspected avian influenza. Therefore, we didn't get to see much of the animals. We went on Wednesday exactly 9:20am, 10 minutes before the zoo could open. We bought our tickets a day prior including parking. Because we went early there was no long line. We rented a stroller. The girl there was were helpful and she made sure to wipe the stroller. Sucks I couldn't remember her name. Overall we had a pleasant time. And the weather was beautiful.

A pretty good place to see animals from around the world. We were able to see most animals, except the otters and the birds were not out. I believe the birds were in protection due to the bird flu. Completely understandable. The layout is traditional zoo- large oval with a few different paths. We ended up going on a weekday, it was not too busy which was lovely for seeing the animals. We were able to do all of it in 2 hours, although we were moving at a pretty good pace due to time. I would say you could spend several additional hours here watching the animals and reading all the information. The exhibits appeared to be very clean, and there were multiple places to either get food or vending machines available for drinks /food. The day we went it was very warm, we were thankful that a lot of the zoo is shaded. We ended up purchasing our tickets ahead of time, just to save time. I think if you go during the week you do not have to do this as it's not as busy, and you can purchase them at the door. However, to guarantee it may be a good idea to do it ahead of time. You can also purchase your parking pass online as well if you plan on parking in one of the lots. The kids loved that the zoo had a gift store as well, and for the most part it was pretty reasonably priced for a zoo. On a side note, we learned when we went, that this is the oldest zoo in the nation which is really cool!

After living in Philly for more than 2 years, my boyfriend and I finally made the trip to the oldest zoo in the U.S.! It was pretty hot (91°F) the day we went and many of the animals in the open exhibits were active and out! We loved the indoor exhibit with the the marmosets/tiny monkeys, as well as the reptile/amphibians exhibit (my boyfriend and I always race to see who can spot the creature first). My favorite exhibit was the petting zoo—there's a huge goat there named Breezy (?) that's super chill and sweet. Part of me really wants to give this zoo 3 stars since many of the exhibits were closed when we visited (it feels like we missed out on 30-40% of what used to be accessible). With the zoo admission and parking totalling ~$67 for 2 adults, we wanted to see more. We spent about 1.75 hours going through the exhibits at a slow pace. Another complaint is that many of the exhibits only showed 1 animal of each type (cheetah, tiger, hippo, boar, and red panda exhibits). I couldn't help but feel that some of the animals were lonely... Still, I wanted to give this place as high of a rating as I could justify so the zoo gets more visitors/adequate funding for the proper care of the animals. Overall, Philly Zoo isn't the best zoo in the U.S., but the healthy conditions of the animals do show they are being well cared for. Every animal we saw seemed to be well cared for and the environments were very clean. I'd like to see more companions for many of the animals, and look forward to some of the reopening of some of the exhibits the next time we visit!

This was my first visit ever to the Philadelphia zoo and I must say it was an experience. This zoo is absolutely huge for. Prepare for a day of walking. Their are little eatery places that serve different types of food, snacks, and drinks. The animals that were out were exciting to see. Many exhibits were under construction (total bummer). A tip for the zoo would be, maybe update your website so customers/visitors know that some exhibits are under construction. However, my family and I still had an amazing time. There were still many animals to see and read about and a few of the animals actual put on a show. Overall, I will definitely plan another trip.

I love, love, love the Philly Zoo!! It's such a clean, beautiful and historic zoo! The animals appear well cared for and their habitats seem designed for enrichment. There are often Zoo staff stationed at exhibits to answer questions or offer interesting info about the animals. There is always something new to see, like the two puma cubs or the baby langur. If you visit more than once per year, buy a membership!!

We love this Zoo! Always fun for kids and adults who are kids at heart. We went for the lights exhibit right around Christmas, but we are members and have been for about 46 years.

Good fun experience at the zoo. Saw loads of animals ranging from tigers, pumas, lions, reptiles, bats, various birds, baby penguins, zebras, giraffes, hippopotamus to name a few. Get a free map at the entrance and follow through it - quite easy. The place is mostly clean and has fun rides for kids too. Tips: 1. The public transportation is shady and infrequent even before it gets darker. So try to leave as early as possible unless you have a car. 2. Majority of the restaurants and food trucks remained closed even on a Sunday morning, with literally just one option to choose from. So be prepared for that.

My second time here and still had a blast. Although all of the indoor exhibits were closed and it was a cloudy day, all of the animals were out and about, which made this trip worthwhile. Masks were kept on the entire visit and everyone social distanced as asked. It was very pleasant and quiet and we just loved it!

Great day trip with the kiddos, mine were excited to see animals but that’s where I gave it a 3 star because many animals were missing, the big cats weren’t active, primates also were just laying around, the reptiles became a cool game of can you spot it. What I was disappointed at was everything cost extra, train ride for kids, carousel, food, water, feeding animals, etc. also the zoo keepers didn’t seem excited or thrilled to talk about the animals or get the kids involved with fun facts. Definitely a lot of room for improvement but I believe it’s still a nice day out!

May 2022 - All of the bird exhibits are closed due to avian bird flu - which is understandable. Many of the concessions and gift shops were closed. Some areas were closed with signs stating Covid precautions. The park itself just felt more run-down than during previous visits. Also, take c/c to pay as they do not have any coin change for cash transactions. We visited as a large school group. It is a safe park and we saw several : "Park Police/Security" riding around on golf carts.

Will definitely go again. Didn't cost me too much and I found a free parking space! I enjoyed my day off but I missed my love. He should have been here with me to enjoy the flamingos and the lovely lemurs and all of the whoop whoopers. And there is this beautiful orangutan! He wears a cape he loves his fabric! He is so majestic and perfect. Great day for families to get out and see some animals there's a new lemur exhibit where you can go in and experience the lemurs first hand! They are in a very open exhibit and I asked how do they stay in? And the woman explained to me that they are very afraid of water so there is a moat around their exhibit and they do not cross the water ever never ever cross the water! I found this fascinating.. If you have young kids you have to check out the tree house! Please find the tree house. It's tucked off to the right of the entrance and you will not see it outright but it is worth going to. There's like huge displays of ants and dinosaurs and weird things that they can climb on a gigantic tree and some spider webs. It's basically a house for kids to use their energy. I wish I was a kid again!

I have loved this zoo since I was a child. It was an amazing experience to take my own daughter there for the first time. We had a great time. It was a very interactive experience, with something for everyone. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the birds. But they are currently being kept safe during the Avian flu outbreak. Every precaution was taken for our safety and the animals. Great family day trip!!

We visited the Philadelphia zoo for the first time in December. First off, make your ticket reservation online and select the time you want to enter. This ensures it’s super easy to get in. There’s tons of animals there’s for the kids to see especially a beautiful tiger. There’s indoor exhibits such as the reptiles and birds as well as great natural habitats. It’s a big zoo so if you have kids who don’t like to walk, make sure to take breaks. The food trucks were also good snack treats and affordable prices. The goat petting section was adorable and Mackenzie, the cutest herd leader was super sweet. Overall a good investment and fun times.

Visited for the 2021 light show and had a great time walking through the various lighted displays. We parked in the Zoo dedicated parking lot and it was a conveniently short walk to the entrance. They also handed out free hand warmers which was a plus.

Great experience for the family. BEAUTIFUL lights and displays. They serve hot Cider and chocolate that adults can spike 😈. A little disappointed that we couldn't see the animals. If you park in the garage pack your patience when leaving. Took us like 40 min to get on the garage. Best time to go might be later. Would go again and bring my nieces!

Excellent experience hanging out here with friends! The parking was easy to get to directly off of the interstate and was just a short walk from the entrance of the zoo. The paths are well laid out and the 'skywalks' for animals was a really neat feature! Between a great variety of species to easy-to-see exhibits and fun play stops along the way, this was a great experience for even the youngest members of our family! Tiger walks are the best at this zoo!

They advertised a Halloween event for kids. (Boo at the Zoo) I brought my toddler on Halloween day for the event and there was no event. The zoo was full of leaves like no one takes care of the grounds and a lot of the exhibits were closed. None of the food facilities were open. Only one gift shop was open. There was at least three construction sites with active construction workers during business hours. It was not worth my $50.

Visited with my four kids and ended up getting the family membership instead. Is worth it because of the extra perks. We got free parking and the kids were able to do a free scavenger hunt. There’s more things to do but we were pressed for time. Overall it’s a clean environment and lots to do. The staff in all of the food areas, though, we’re super rude and short. They need some training in their customer service. The picture I’m sharing is of their orangutan enclosure. They had just celebrated one of their 31st birthdays. But they got presents with food inside of them and it looks like a whole party had happened. It was super nice to see that they were thoughtful to throw them a little birthday party. There is about a five minute walk from the parking lot to the zoo so be prepared and also make sure you wear walking shoes because there’s a lot of walking throughout the day.

New exhibit coming late March 2021 at the the Philadelphia zoo! Some kind of walk through interactive experience with animatronic dinosaurs. It’s going in between the otters, cheetahs/bald eagles , beer garden & the birdhouse/picnic area. Overall, the Philadelphia Zoo is one of the best places in Philadelphia. We’ve been coming here often for 4 years now. Always a fun time.

One of the oldest zoos in the U.S.! There's lots of history and lots of different animal species. The food is alright. I recommend ordering food at the Watering hole. The watering hole is a beer garden, yes you heard that correct. The zoo is always hosting a special event to make it more fun than it is. All the animals look healthy and taken care of by the best in the country. There is plenty of parking in the garage and the lots across the street. Highly recommend!

A wonderful experience. We came in April 2022. Buying the tickets online was very easy. You can change your reservation up to 11:59PM the previous day. You can also pay for parking ahead of time. The Zoo is well laid out making it easy to see all the animals. It’s also well designed for strollers. The food was very good with plenty of options. There is beautiful artwork throughout the zoo: sculptures, paintings, art installations: well thought out and distinctive. The conservation efforts are well show cased too. The Big Cat area is not to be missed. The Primate Reserve is excellent as well. The animals have large walkways to traverse the park in and it is a very cool feature. We enjoyed our experience very, very much. The zoo does not take much time to see if you are short on time: you can still enjoy all of it. So don’t hesitate: you do not need all day but can easily make it a leisurely experience and picnic as well. Highly recommend!

We loved this zoo! So many animals and keepers around the park to answer questions. Enclosures appear well kept and none of the animals appeared in distress. We went during a weekday morning so there were no lines or large crowds. Food and drinks are expensive, but that’s to be expected. We felt overall the zoo was a great value, and we can’t wait to return!

I absolutely loved this zoo in the rain and all. It was an amazing experience and no other zoo I have been to allows the animals to travel through tunnels so they can travel the zoo just like visitors do. It was so cool. Will definitely be going back and bringing everyone I can. The animals were beautiful and well cared for.

Highly recommend this zoo because it is amazing. The staffs were so friendly and the zoo is very clean. My son is a animal lover so we take him to a zoo everywhere we visit. And by far, this was one of the greatest zoo we visited. It takes 3-4 hours to complete seeing the whole zoo. It has some rare animal which we have not seen in any other zoo.

During Covid time this was unexpectedly empty. Many of the food shops were closed and the one or two open was limited in items. The yep was still very enjoyable and in a sense more relaxing because of the lower amount of visitors

This was a great time Pandemic and all. We went today and got there early. Most of the animals were out and about and we saw a lot. Getting there at opening was great because there was 0 crowd. As we were leaving lines were forming so that's my biggest recommendation. A lot of food stands and indoor exhibits were obviously closed. I wasn't sure if that was due to the time we were there (opening), the fact that it's the second to last day of the season, the pandemic, or probably a combination of all 3. Still thought it was great. They'll earn the 5th star when we get back after the pandemic for sure.

Covid restrictions make visiting the zoo a lot less enjoyable these days. All indoor facilities are closed and many of the outdoor areas have restrictions or limitations. On a positive note, the timed entry ticketing insured that there were no crowds.

Hadn't been here in about 30 years since I was a kid. It was pouring rain but my girlfriend and I still had a great time. The weather said 25 percent chance of showers that turned into 100 percent downpour for hours within the few days after booking our tickets. You can not change the date after booking. But the animals seemed to come out more in the rain. Awesome. What we were disappointed in was that the reptile house and other attractions were closed due to covid. Sad. But support this zoo during these times please. The animals have to eat too. And watching them eat was very entertaining!

My husband and I went to this Zoo three days ago.. it was a horrible experience! Few animals to see. The place looks abandoned. An employee yelled at us because we were drinking our hot chocolate without the mask SMH, we were not even around other people but anyway COVID times..They should charge less.. I felt like I waste my money.

This is by far my favorite zoo. I honestly look for any excuse to go to Philadelphia, but especially the zoo. I've visited the Philadelphia Zoo at least 15 times from school age to the present day now with my children. Apart from the amazing exhibits and the educational aspects, the Zoo staff is extremely friendly. People from the south always say ”northerners” are rude and mock ”the City of Brotherly Love.” But, it is accurate. I had the opportunity to tour behind the scenes of the zoo, in college and I've been at the zoo during off-hours to run (well, I walked) a 5k twice. No matter what type of event is happening at the Zoo, it is always a treat seeing animals up close, but also knowing that they are being cared for by great people.

Love this Zoo... Lots of different animals ex: giraffes, hippos, rhinos, monkeys, otters, kangaroos, and Eagles to name a few. I brought the whole family this weekend and we had a great time. Some of the exhibits were closed but we still had a fun time. Love the nostalgia of being the 1st zoo in America. Plenty of photo opportunities but bring a nice zoom lens. Cant wait to go back when everything is at 100%.

I received 2 tickets and free parking from Yelp elite to attend the opening night of the LumiNature Media Party at the Philadelphia Zoo. Coming from DE, traffic was horrendous and what should have taken 50 minutes took over 1.5 hours. But it was worth it when we arrived. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and it was fun attending the event before the general public. Most of the animals were inside for the night, but we did get to see the zebras. It wasn't too cold and we were able to enjoy the lights throughout the zoo at our own pace. We also saw the lighting of the flamingo tree. There were drinks and food for the VIP event, so we grabbed some wine and some snacks. Chase handed out scarves and cookies, and we left with a few bags of kettle corn. Thanks Yelp, this was a really fun event!

Loved this place! Huuuge zoo. Really friendly staff. Security guard is a legend, definitely need to go chat with him. Not everything was open due to winter/covid but it was so quiet we got front row seats to everything. Food stalls are expensive but I guess expected. We bought the City pass which includes the gate price.

Haven't been to the Philadelphia zoo in quite some time so I was excited to go back. Loved everything about it including the addition of the dinosaur exhibit which was really cool the only reason for the four star instead of five was the fact that several exhibits and animals were no longer there. I'm late going in to see the giant honeycomb which that building was closed as well as the bird exhibit which was closed and it seemed like they were lacking in a lot of animals. But it was still a fun day with the family and friends

It was chilly and there is a case of Avian flu, so a lot of the animals were away for safe keeping, but we still had a blast! We got a very close look at several usually evasive animals! The personal details about many of the animals and why habitats are set up the way they are help add a personal touch and the really make the animals feel like family. The focus on several conservation efforts is also very nice

We visited on World Refugee Day and had a nice enough time. Sadly, the birds were all put away to avoid avian flu. It was a hot day and I honestly feel like there could have been much more shade/water provided for the poor animals. I noticed there were even some sections of the zoo where the plants were wilting from lack of water. I did appreciate the plentiful benches and picnic tables, especially by the lake.

The Philadelphia zoo is an amazing zoo. We went yesterday and they did have a few exhibits enclosures that did not have anything they are updating it but the Philadelphia zoo does have these unique outdoor exhibits that you can see the animals in them if your are there at the right time. They don’t have elephants are camels, and the don’t have rides to some of the animals attractions. Their unique outdoor exhibits make up for it. They do have an amazing exhibit with the giraffes that you can actually pay extra to feed them. I thought that was an amazing highlight for the kids.! They didn’t have the animal keys for each exhibit, which I’m so happy they brought that back! Hopefully next visit they will have them! I do highly recommend anyone that hasn’t visited the Philadelphia zoo to do so! Don’t miss out on this beautiful zoo!

Very nice day and it wasn't too packed. There were a bunch of sites closed for remodeling and I felt like it was longer to walk to see everything in-between. Still a nice zoo with many awesome animals. It's so cool that some animals have access to walking bridges over top of the zoo. I bet the animals love the tree top view!

Bought tickets ($25/person + $17/car for parking) for 9:30AM on a Monday. Walking in was very chaotic because a few field trips were entering at the same time. After entering we went through the zoo clockwise, immediately heading to the left to avoid the field trips. The zoo is essentially a big oval so it's pretty easy to see everything in one big loop but definitely grab a map because there are many paths within the general oval. We got to see so many animals that were active and walking around or playing in their exhibit. We got to see the red panda walk right up to us, see the monkeys play and swing around chasing each other, the gorillas walk around and eat treats the zoo keepers gave them, and saw a zoo keeper feed the hippos carrots and had them opening their mouths for everyone to see. If was great, we were able to do a loop and then go back to see if any animals that weren't active before we now moving around - I'm so glad we did that, every single animal we went back to see was more active in their exhibit. If you have a certain animal you really want to see, I would recommend checking back and multiple times to see if they are doing something different! One nice thing about this zoo is they allow you to bring in outside food and beverages so you are not forced to eat there. They have so many tables out in the Picnic Grove area as well as scattered throughout the zoo in nice locations with a trash and recycling bin near by. You can feed a giraffe as well for an additional $6/person. They only take credit card purchased online through your phone to get a qr code ticket. Kind of annoying because you can't purchase it ahead of time nor pay in cash. You get one branch to feed to the giraffe and they will take your photos if you request. Gift shop had a lot of cute thing but EXPENSIVE. It goes to a good cause though, I'm sure it's expensive to feed and maintain all of those amazing animals!

A nice selection of animals, it seems like they take good care of them. Children’s section and lots of fun stuff for the animals to do. They can go in the cages and walk above you and around the zoo. The parking is $17 in the parking garage and is right immediately off the exit of the Schuylkill expressway. They have some sneaky type foods there to pick on but be careful it’s a little pricey. Overall had a fun time and the children enjoyed it. It can be hilly so bring a cane if you can’t walk to good. But they also do have strollers and carts available to ride if you need to rent one

I was very disappointed with the amount of “temporarily closed habitats” the animals that were visible appeared to be hot - sad and not moving much. My son had a wonderful time - and of course i was so happy to see him enjoy it all. Pricing is fair i spent $102 on 3 tickets two adults and one child this included the STAYING POWER , however i didn’t enjoy that walk through much to pay extra for it again - large dinosaur statues that barely move the multi sensory aspect of it is speakers making animalistic noises … overall the kids love it ! Anything to see them happy right . But we definitely hope to visit when the weather is a bit more cooler and see happier more lively animals and less closed habitats

This is definitely a fantastic experience. I was not excited to see the zoo because it's quite small compared to my hometown zoo but holy cow! This zoo was packed full of fantastic animals as soon as you walk in the gates. The enclosures are absolutely wonderful and the staff is so friendly! One staff member just ateolled up to my family and I to ask if we wanted to see some beetles and we followed this person on a trip to a nearly vacant building to see some cool beetles. Thank goodness it was really a zoo employee and not a serial killer because we just followed without questioning anything lmao. The animals all look incredibly cozy and happy and very well cared for. This was a fantastic experience!

Luminature at the Philadelphia Zoo, and this event was a real treat! I have always loved the Zoo but gave never attended this event, or been at the Zoo in the Winter. We went as a group of adults. There were pop up bars around the zoo for spiked Cider, wine, seltzer and hot chocolate. The food vendors were serving all kinds of choices throughout the park. This was a very nice, relaxing Friday night with friends. There were light shows all over, with heaters which were perfectly placed to keep you warm while watching. Will definitely go again next year.

I had a wonderful day here with my wife. The zoo feels so much bigger than it actually is! Went on a Sunday morning and plenty of the animals were active, save for a couple. My wife really wanted to see the red pandas and we got to see one! It was the absolute best. The gift shop was nice, but left just a little to be desired. Still bought some awesome souvenirs from our first trip to America's first zoo. So excited to come back and get the most out of our membership!

We always have a fun time at the zoo! The oldest and first zoo in America has a lot to offer! There are really great animals to view and very knowledgeable staff to answer questions and give deep insight of animal behaviors and habitats. There were some animals missing that we were looking forward to seeing, like the lions, but otherwise we were able to get some amazing photos of a bunch of them! If you've never been here, take the day to enjoy these beautiful creatures!

We love the Philly Zoo! From the Parkinson’s Walk at the zoo to attending as a visitor, the entire experience is phenomenal. Before COVID, my wife & I did the Behind the Scenes package and got to feed the penguins, it was an incredible experience we hope to do again!

The cat walk is cool, but I really miss the old zoo. I know why they don’t have elephants but the enclosure just sits bare. A lot of the park just looks empty. I’m thinking funding could be the issue at least that’s how it looks when you visit.

We were fortunate to catch a super warm day in Nov., so the animals were out and active. The layout of the zoo is like a causal stroll through a park like setting. Ample signs with directions and info. The zoo employees were friendly and doing an awesome job of maintaining Covid-19 compliancy throughout the zoo and particularly at the food vendors. The Philadelphia Zoo is currently operating at 50% capacity, but there were still long lines at the special attraction, which was not a big deal because there is plenty to see if you're impatient like me. Their parking lot was ample and had an attendant which we appreciated not having to worry about the safety of our vehicle. We will definitely return once it's up and running at full capacity again.

They have implemented some good standards to protect staff, visitors, as well as animals. Unfortunately at this time of year there are less animals outside and we couldnt go inside due to Covid. So we saw maybe a quarter of the animals we'd usually see, but it was still a good trip.

Overall enjoyable! Smaller than the others we have visited, it was a fun day. We did this and adventure aquarium in a day, and it was great! We went in October, 2020 and without knowing part of the buildings and other exhibits were closed so that was a bit disappointing. We did still have fun though. A bit of a maze, so be sure to map check to see everything. The lion exhibit is probably the best thing here. Literally of course with glass, the closest I've ever gotten to some of these animals.

Great place to visit with the kids during the pandemic. Lots of signage and strict rules for social distancing. Even though all indoor exhibits and some outdoor were closed (too cold) we were still able to see bears, zebras, penguins, red pandas, otters, bald eagles, emus, kangaroos, cheetahs, tigers, chickens, pigeons, alpacas, sheep, and goats. Had an amazing day, and will using our annual pass several times in 2021.

Once again, I will rate the Philadelphia zoo as five stars! I have always enjoyed this zoo, and they have always done great things. but their approach to covid-19 is top-notch providing a great experience for families, especially Young kids. We have been going on average once a week for several months since the reopening and it is just so well done. My 2-year-old loves it, it's a wonderful environment to get out of the house, see the fantastic animals, and feel safe and secure knowing they've taken all proper precautions. Even with the indoor venues closed off, you don't feel slighted in the least. Thank you very much to all of the staff and management of the Philadelphia zoo. See you again soon.

  • 5/5 M S. 3 years ago on Google
We travel to the zoo a few times a year. Now is most important to support all your local zoos and museums. Crowds are less so you can really enjoy the space and outdoors of the zoo.

We have been members of the Philadelphia Zoo for years and have enjoyed our visits every time. They are requiring reservations and limiting the number of people in buildings at a time. Nice zoo with lots of overhead travel paths for the animals. Big Cats and Apes areas are open but other buildings like the reptile house are closed. Sadly couldn't get into the area with red pandas, clouded leopard and otters since they are vulnerable to covid. You need to get a reserved time ticket online for entry. People were following covid safety relatively well.

I was there yesterday on 2/20th, and I didn't really enjoy it 100% due to the snow and the winter trip ain't good idea. 90% of animals weren't out. But I'll definitely come back in Spring, zookeepers said best time spring not hot summer

Another wonderful visit! The kids had a blast seeing all the animals. I appreciate how everyone respectfully wears a mask to keep our germs to ourselves. I love that most of the indoor viewing areas have opened back up. It was our first time to see the monkeys, gorillas and lions. Lots of animals to see and quite a few food places were open for business as well.

A trip to this zoo made for a nice day. The problem for me was all the indoor exhibits are closed right now and the price is basically the same. The hippos, small monkeys and giraffes were away for the winter. Around the afternoon they feed the animals, so some animals that aren't out in the morning come out to eat.

  • 5/5 Ernesto T. 2 years ago on Google
My kids love going to the zoo. Everyone was wearing masks indoors and there are clear signs everywhere. The gibbons were especially playful in the morning. During the summer I'd highly recommend you visit in the morning. There's plenty of shade at the zoo, but it's cooler in the morning...

Was really nice to come back to visit after many years. Such a nice zoo. Almost all of the animals were out which was great. Seeing the peacock out and about with it's keeper was a treat. Such a beautiful bird! Great✨ walking zoo. We were there for 4 and a half hours and saw about 95% of the zoo. We were taking our time and could have seen the entire zoo if we spent less time at each exhibit. But it's hard not to spend extra time viewing the beautiful animals they house. Can't wait to go back. Absolutely amazing place, highly✌✌ recommend going if you’re in the area!!

I ❤❤❤❤this place. It's a great decompressor in these times. In the past month i saw a giraffe running full speed. A rhino baby nursing. An 8 week old giraffe. An elephant playing with her baby. I've interacted with kind employees. Seen sights i can't see any other place. There are beautiful shady walks, water features, and unusual plants, tree and birds. If you can take the tours it would be great because with that money it helps with the maintenance of the animal facilities. Just a ton of fun!✨✨

Had the opportunity to visit the Philadelphia zoo on Saturday with My Wife, it was an event funded by Health Partners Plan. We got to enter the zoo for free & spend the day free of charge. This is the best Zoo I've ever been to !!! The habitats were clean and large enough for the animals to play but small enough for us to be able to view at least one animal. The Zoo 360 climbing courses for the primates and big cats were amazing ! I wish every zoo gave their animals an opportunity to explore the world a bit more. The employees were kind, answered questions, and helped us spot the animals that we couldn't see ourselves. Also, they have animals I haven't seen anywhere else. Aye-aye's, 3 types of lemurs, and hippos were the ones I've never seen anywhere else! The giant otter was my favorite. My favorite guest feature was the braille writing along with a tactile animal shape. Blind people are often ignored in situations like this, so I appreciated the inclusivity. I definitely recommend this zoo to ANYONE looking for a great informative experience.

We loved the dinosaur exhibit! So cool and huge! The entire zoo is well maintained. They have an indoor play and exploration area for young ones. Excellent place to spend time with the family. The kids have so much fun. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and backpack with cold drinks. Be early to get a good parking spot and be out before it gets too crowded. Take lots of pictures as the experience is amazing and the little one will love to have pictures to remember. They have a huge variety of animals and they are safely guarded. I recommend this place.

The Philadelphia Zoo no longer houses some of my favorite animals, like wolves or polar bears among other popular animals. As much as I want to love the zoo because of my love of animals it just isn't the same as it once was. That being said the Christmas light show is like no other. If you get the chance to see it it really is a must! For that reason alone I rated it higher than I think I should have.

We really enjoyed our visit today. Even though we didn’t make it through the entire park, I can’t even imagine what animals we missed because we saw so many! The park is a little confusing for first timers, but plenty of friendly staff will help you on your way. Beverage and ice cream machines are spread throughout for convenience. Parking garage is just down the block, not a far walk at all. Highly recommend for a day outdoors!

  • 4/5 Samantha T. 1 year ago on Google
The zoo itself is nice. They do a lot for conservation and the animals are well cared for with clean environments. The food, however, is an absolute rip off. And some of the employees (general staff, not snimal care staff) obviously dislike their job. As do we all.

This is one of my happy places! It never gets old for me visiting the Philadelphia Zoo. I purchased the family membership as a gift for my brother and his family for one year. Great perks! It covers free admission for two adults and two children with one car for parking. My mother and I did not have a membership and it was 24.00 dollars per adult. You must reserve tickets online, rather you are a member or not. We visited on July 4th. During our visit due to the heat, a few animals were inside for their well being. We had iced coffees upon arriving, later lunch, walked around, took a train ride for my nephew and got to see the beautiful animals up close. You will enjoy it with family, day date, or simply by yourself, enjoying nature and animals.

Just a few pictures of our fun day at the zoo! We were so happy to see all of the animals today! We were a little worried when we first arrived and saw all of the kids on a field trip but it wasn't too bad. My 4 year old said he loved seeing all of the animals!

Very nice zoo! Lots of exhibits and walking . There were quite a few empty exhibits but overall we had a fun time. The website indicated you need to reserve tickets in advance only in a certain section so a little confusing. Also went during pride month the zoo did a nice job of decorating each exhibit, very festival. The monkeys loved ripping up the ribbon it was entertaining.

It was our first time here and it was amazing. I will suggest that if you go without children during the week, go after 2 pm. We went for our post-wedding celebration day and ran in to 8 field trips. It made it difficult to enjoy as adults without having children but the exhibits were still great. As sad as it is to see wild animals caged you can tell they are well cared for. We ended up buying a membership so we can go back as often as we want. It is a bit of a walk from the parking garage to the zoo proper. The zoo itself is so large that even spending 4 hours there I don't think we saw it all. We purchased tickets to the Staying Power exhibit and it was absolutely worth it.

  • 5/5 Matthew M. 11 months ago on Google
The oldest zoo in America! A great experience, but be aware things close early or on time! The exhibits are top notch: the river otters, big cat falls and the primate house are headliners not to be missed. The main exhibits are supported by great experiences for the kids. Check membership pricing prior to buying individual tickets for larger families!

A very large and well maintained zoo, and the oldest zoo in our country! The animals look to be kept healthy and safe. They have several exhibits within enclosed buildings, as well as many animals outside enclosures. Many rare species and learning opportunities are all over the zoo & more educational resources online.

Great experience. It's better to visit at open or before noon. When we visited all CAT type animals were sleeping and that was disappointing. Early morning animals will be awake and active. Though my kids enjoyed the park. There is one more option WILD SAFARI to consider if you are planning to see Walid animals.

A very large zoo, maintained very well with many exhibits, some indoor. Very enjoyable zoo. Took my 9 year old grandson & he had an amazing time. I wish there were elephants. Fair prices but I wish there was a simpler way to pay via cash. Way too many steps @ the kiosk to pay cash & end up w a debit card to use whatever left over cash there is........

This place is amazing, the staff are Friendly and well informed when providing groups information about the animals they care for. The service staff in the food booths are kind and patient. The animal exhibits are amazing, the gorillas were great to watch, they have 2 juveniles under the zoos care and act like traditional siblings. You can get lost within the zoo, so grab a map or keep an eye out for one so you don’t miss any of the exhibits. Parking can and will fill quickly. Plan accordingly. Members easily scan their passes at the gate when leaving the garage or lot. While ticket holders pay for parking before you leave the zoo! There are kiosks at the front of the zoo after security.

Really awesome experience for both parents and the little one. You can get pretty close and even feed some of the animals, giraffes, and for the most part the pens have great viewing angles. On the way out we were treated to the tiger parking itself in the “catwalk” over our heads which drew a big crowd. Animals seemed calm and well cared for, even in 90+ heat. Prices are pretty standard, though adult beverages are a bit above average

I suggest trying to do a whole day there we came around 2pm they close at 5pm. We didn't get to see all the animals we wanted to see. The orangutans were really active and when we ate at tiger terrace the tiger was out in the cat walk so we got to eat next to the tiger it was awesome to see him up so close

It is the oldest zoo in America and you could see and feel it. The staff were friendly but the community needs to invest in the zoo. Needs a face lift and more animals. Zoos can be such a vital.part of community and the board needs to up their game. Take a page from zoos like Seattle.

I have LOVED the zoo since 1971 starting on my first field trip back in the 3rd grade. However, upon a recent visit, after a long absence, do to living out of state, I must say the zoo is looking old and in need of a remodel. And many of the exhibits were closed. Overall, not bad but not great. The otter's and the lemur's were the highlight of the day.

We took my 5 year old daughter to the Philadelphia Zoo for the first time and she had such a blast! It wasn't overly crowded so we were able to easily walk around and look at the animals without worrying about her running off into a crowd. Although she loved seeing all the animals, I think the carousel and train ride was her favorite part! Parking was easy - we will definitely be taking her there again.

We went to Luminature, it was beautiful sight with warm-up winter extras such as hot chocolate, cider, fire pits and marshmallows. We even got to see some animals! I wish there was a spring or summer version of this event with the lights bubbles and ice cream.

What a great zoo to visit!! Some of the best animals on view around the region and they can be very entertaining to watch when they are awake....... No matter what age you are, this is an easy zoo to navigate and walk, ( no extreme hills or miles if walking. Visit this place when in the area!!!!
