This is one of the best zoos I've ever been to! The animals have so much room to roam around and explore and though zoos usually make me sad this one made me very excited. There are so many animals here other zoos simply don't have and it was very fun to see them up close and personal. Though some animals were away due to the cold weather I still feel like I had a great time. This zoo is also very clean and well kept which is always good. The bathrooms and other facilities are clean as well which is definitely a bonus. When we went for whatever reason there were barely any people so it was like a private tour of the zoo all by myself! That was definitely a once in a life time experience. Also, there's a petting zoo here which is something many zoos don't have so that's fun for all ages to stop by and pet some goats/sheep. I was also here for illuminights and had a great time there either. The zoo is transformed and instead of live animal exhibits you got to see the park lit up with the animal light displays around the zoo. An unexpected bonus was that the pandas were still out so we got to see a sneak peek at them at night too! Overall, it is definitely worth the time and money to stop here and see the animal - you won't regret it.

We went on a weekend and it was not at all crowded. We spent more than 3 hours there and it was so much fun. Found new species. Was damn excited to see the lions but they were just sleeping the whole time. Even the tiger was missing. Overall, we had a great day at the zoo.

I can't rate for how this zoo ranks compared to other zoos. This was the first time I'd been to one since I was a wee lad. But, I wasn't impressed. If you want to go to a zoo, because you've never been, or because you really like zoos, or like in my case your daughter has never been to a zoo and wants to go, I guess this zoo is as good as any other. Maybe I'm being a little harsh. I had a good time, but that's because I was with my wife and daughter, and we always have a good time together, but the zoo itself was blah. For the price, and how big the place is I feel that there should be more to do. Not even sure what that would look like and no suggestions for what those things to do would be, but it just felt like a nice walk. "Oh look, the elephant." It doesn't take long to look at an elephant. It's cool. But really, how long do you need before you say, "Yup. I have now seen an elephant in person," and move on to the next animal? That's the zoo. And it really felt like there wasn't enough to see for the price of admission. Maybe I'm just not a zoo person.

Huge zoo, very clean and well maintained. Lots of sections separating different types and regions of animals and species. Most animals were active and playful when we visited. Plenty of restrooms in every corner of the zoo. There’s a wonderful children section in the zoo. There’s petting animal, carousels, train ride, playground and tree climbing. Carousel and train require separate ticket, $3 per person. It takes about 2-3 hours to fully explore the zoo. There’s a cafe and bunch of small vendors around the zoo. The gift shop is pretty nice, got lots of zoo specific merchandise.

Cool place. We went mostly because of the pandas (who were adorable) but seen lots of other amazing animals. We really liked all the bamboo. There are multiple places to get food from which is also great. Lots of merch to choose from. We read lots of interesting information about the animals, including some that were really educational. We found that some animals have rather small places for themselves (like the bald eagle, but the “big cats” could benefit from more space as well). Many tablets in the reptile house didn’t work so we had no idea what animal we were looking at (or what we should’ve found as many of them disguised themselves too well). I think it would also be practical to add signs with numbers to the various areas of the too to make orientation easier. It’s too easy to miss certain zones unless someone consults the map all the time. Overall we had a great time and it seemed like the animals are well cared for.

Our family had so much fun at the zoo. You can complete your trip at the zoo in 2-3 hours just depending. We have been to many zoos. We liked that for the most part you follow a path with little backtracking. Most of the animals were alert, out and moving. Bathrooms were spread out well throughout the park. They had restaurants and a couple play ground areas that we saw. You can bring drinks and food into the park. We bought our tickets ahead of time. We recommend Zoo Atlanta. See the panda bear and sun bear were our favorites.

Best zoo! You can tell they care about their animals. Loved the red panda and giant pandas! The lizards house was also amazing! The girl running the carousel was great! My daughter was big enough to ride alone, but freaked out when they started moving and she hopped on and stayed with her calming her down and making her comfortable enough that we came back for many more goes on the ride. Will definitely be back!

What a great zoo and definitely an elephant encounter made it even more special. The zoo has the rare Giant Panda, red panda and even has lions. We did the elephant encounter and what an experience. The zookeepers are extremely knowledgeable and you can see their love of these mammals. The zoo has a zoo explorer club for kids that we didn't do because we were focused on our first time seeing all the animals first. Next time, I would entertain that for my kids. They have an amazing treetop zine and ropes course for little tots and bigger kids. Definitely worth the money. Great adult options around the zoo, never made time for eating as we had lunch prior to entering amd dinner afterward. Very pleased with this zoo overall.

The zoo continues to make awesome improvements and there is a great variety of animals, well shaded/not too hot even on sunny days, fun kid zone, animals are close and active, food and refreshments are good and accessible (although expensive for what it is). Nice touches have been added like free family photo when you enter the park, icee machines, sanitation areas throughout. Also plenty of bathrooms which made navigating to one easy as we needed them throughout. Also, we LOVED all the incredible Lego sculptures throughout the zoo right now. The gorilla, elephant, and red panda exhibits were some of the most impressive. They did a great job with the new elephant enclosure.

This is a very good zoo. The pathways could have better direction signs, but the displays are, for the most part, designed to make animals visible. The educational signs are easily accessed. A really good variety of animals. The children's petting zoo could be enhanced with more staff and more animals. Well worth a few hours of your time.

This is a great zoo. Not overly large which makes it better for families with little kids still finding their legs. Most of the area's were shaded well to keep from getting too hot. The exhibits looked well Maintained and the animals seemed healthy and taken care of. Food options were just OK. Go early to find close parking.

A lot of large exhibits for some really beautiful animals. A lot of animals I haven’t had the chance to see before, such as the red panda, the alligator tortoise, and definitely the biggest rhino I have seen! Enjoyed the park. Didn’t take too long to get through everything. They recommend about three hours. Parking is paid up front and is about $12 for the day.

Ticket was free for me since I am a Veteran. The zoo is really nice for kids and family. My 3 yr old immensely enjoyed it. The zoo is not too big, but not too small which is great. The carousel, train and petting zoo is great for toddlers. The staff are always nice. There are a great variety of animals, and they look cared for.

We visited the zoo with a group of 8 people. The zoo appeared to be clean and well kept. We enjoyed the gorilla area. We did not have to wait in long lines to get in. We stayed until closing time. The gift shop at the front was slightly overprice. The price for the zoo is high but using a city pass makes more affordable.

WOW! We had so much fun at there! We spent most of our time in the reptile area because it was cold outside and most of the animals were in indoor habitats where we couldn’t see them. They have an amazing collection of snakes and other beautiful reptiles. A whole day should be dedicated to that area. It’s a very family friendly place and the annual membership is worth it if you’re coming with family. Can’t wait to come here again! I attached some of my best shots below!

Atlanta Zoo is great for any age. It is very well distributed and you should look at the map to see each space it offers you. The pandas 🐼, the bears 🐻, the red pandas, the gorilla 🦍, the orangutans 🦧, the elephants 🐘, zebras 🦓, lions 🦁, tigers 🐅, giraffes 🦒, birds 🦇🦉🦅🦆🦚🦩 in short, all the animals are well cared for and it is pleasant to see them. Was very exciting visit the tree house and the Komodo dragon…statute, but beautiful. It has several shops, a train, a children's play area and an area where you can touch goats 🐐, sheep , lamb 🐑 and more. I enjoyed the place with my daughter who is an animal lover.

This is a zoo that is good for a 1/2 day activity. It wasn't very big, but still fun to go too. Not an extensive animal selection. The herpetarium was the best exhibit in my opinion.

It was a nice family visit. Total time we spent was around 3 hours. FYI: you will need to pay for parking. You can scan the mobile app and pay online. The app will send texts and emails to help you keep track of your time. Some of the animals were not in their habitat due to cold weather or under a Doctor's care. The animals were interesting to look at and learn about. The alpacas and goats were very amusing. Zoo staff were helpful and professional when needed.

Great Zoo! All the exhibit areas are very well kept and the Animals seemed very happy and healthy. I also liked the fact that the larger exhibits had different viewing areas so it was easy to see the animals from different angles. Very nice Zoo especially for the kids!

Really nice zoo and good for kids. We went in winter on a cold day so not all the animals were in their normal habitat exhibits but we're instead in their houses. Still really cool though. Saw a few animals I've never seen before. Definitely go before the pandas leave at the end of '24!

The Atlanta zoo is not the same when you go in the winter vs summer time. Be aware of that before arriving. My wife and I still enjoyed our time but the vast majority of the animals can't be seen due to the climate. We wanted to come before we missed the opportunity to see the pandas leave Georgia.

I haven't been to the zoo in many years. They have updated and added to it and it is wonderful! There is something for everyone. The animals are especially active right now (Jan 2024). Plenty of room for strollers and things for little ones and older kids and adults to see. Parking on the street is free but a little bit of a hike with a stroller. There is a per hour charge for parking in the lot.

We have loved the Atlanta zoo ever since we moved here 2 years ago we were members immediately and I can say with two small kids that it has been a wonderful experience to share with them and friends and family when they visit. We are originally from the Philadelphia area and grew up always going to the Philadelphia zoo and we were so pleased to see how well-maintained updated and well cared for the animals were here at Atlanta Zoo. This past weekend was actually our first visit since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic and I can say that everything the zoo has done as well as the patrons respect for the policies of wearing masks social distancing and overall keeping lines moving and taking an appropriate amount of time to look at the animals was really a relief. We will now be going on a regular basis now that we have seen firsthand that proper social distancing and mask policies are being upheld and respected by everyone ❤️

Got there kinda late, but the zoo was decorated in a Halloween Theme (Boo at the Zoo). It was spectacular. The animals were out and about and active. Parking is not free unless you park on the street. Masks are not required but signs are posted throughout the zoo suggesting that you wear one.

We absolutely love being members of Zoo Atlanta. They do such a great job and every time we are at the park it feels safe and clean. All of the animals are well taken care of and treated humanely. The zoo is a wonderful place to bring your family and friends. I highly recommend it and if you're going to go more than once you should take a look at their membership offerings. In my opinion, well worth the money.

Great prices as always! The membership is amazing and the itinerary for the animals is reasonable. Feedings are viewable for many animals and purchasable for docile herbivores like the giraffes. We will definitely be back with our membership and cannot wait to see this year's Holiday celebrations at the Zoo!

Fantastic zoo! We were most excited for the pandas but were impressed with the visibility of the rest of the animals. We paid $2 to feed the giraffe, Calvin. We LOVED the docents in front of the exhibits. It was so fun talking to them and learning about the animals from them. We were pleasantly surprised and excited for the ropes course in the kiddy land. fun for adults and kids!

Enjoyed my visit at the zoo. A lot the animals were hiding to stay warm . They have decent food options . I haven’t been to the zoo in about 3 years . They have added a virtual reality ride . It was fairly decent. It lasts about 5 minutes . It was fairly packed being it was Saturday afternoon . All in all … it’s a place to take the kids when you need a day out . Buy tickets online as well to save time

We had a wonderful time at Zoo Atlanta. As a family of 5 it took us about 5 hours to see everything. Everyone was very nice and polite. Our kids loved every minute of it. Very easy to navigate around. Great petting zoo section that's free entry. They have a playground and a carousel for everyone to ride. You can buy tickets and take a ride on the train. There is a tree top playground. Tons of animals, reptiles, and more to see and also learn about. Definitely recommend coming and seeing what all Zoo Atlanta has to offer if you haven't been before. Great experience and will be back.

We had a great morning at the Atlanta Zoo. Went Wednesday morning and the crowds were light. The animals were all out and about, and we got to see several eating. There were a ton of friendly and helpful staff/volunteers all throughout the Zoo. I would highly recommend a visit. The only let down for us was the required pay to park aspect of visiting the zoo. They only gave you options of 1,2,3 hours or all day for $13.

Went for a work sponsored luncheon and fun family day. The Savannah hall is beautiful and spacious. The zoo has gotten a beautiful face lift since I was last there years ago. Mostly clean and well laid out with good signage along the way. Water fountains are strewn throughout and many other money traps like Virtual Reality goggles ride ($8) through the Rwandan jungle to meet the gorillas and a fun little playground ($14ish) and water splash pad. There's a train ($3pp) ride and several animal keepers who stand around educating the masses on their little animal critter. Enjoyed the day but wear comfy shoes, hat, sunscreen and a bag and water bottle. Plan to spend some money for any add ons if you're a non-member like me. I'm always sad for the animals in captivity so I probably won't be back for ages but if you've never been it's worth a try at least once to get your fill of exotic animals.

We regularly visit zoos of a higher caliber (education and animal welfare focused) when we travel. This zoo was a favorite for us. -Parking was close to the entrance & uses the park mobile app ($12 for the day) or pay at the kiosk -Employees/ volunteers were very friendly and helpful -Food was higher priced (as expected) but very good quality and flavor. Health inspection stickers around the zoo restaurants/kiosks all had scores of at least 96. - There was a wide variety of animals (from naked mole rats to African elephants) - many of the exhibits had multiple viewing spaces but were still 50% enclosed (good for us and the animals!) - Each exhibit had a small plaque that told a little about each animal (an interesting fact + their eating habit/ habitat/ where they're found in wild + level of endangerment & causes). This was perfect for my little who only wants small bites of info. My older and I both wanted more, but we only got that at a handful of exhibits; it was a lost/ limited learning opportunity. -A few of the exhibits have QR codes that link back to video presentations from the zoo's animal experts. We loved this feature and I hope they expand this to many more animals. - They listed animal talks and feeding times on their website, which made it easy to incorporate them into our day. Because of this, we got to watch some gorilla training first hand.

Went on a rainy day and basically had the zoo to ourselves which was really nice. If you're here in the rain, several of the larger animals (giraffes, zebras, primates, and rhino) weren't out. But the elephants, pandas, tiger, birds, and sun bears were all visible. The reptile and amphibian exhibit is really cool for snakes and lizards and such.

Boo at the zoo was definitely an excellent experience for my family. Seeing the animals and being able to "trick or treat" in a safe manner made it even better. There were stations that gave candy through a pipe and it there was no contact. One way traffic and it wasn't very crowded. My only complaint is there was no stopping, had to keep going and sometimes we could have used a moment to sit down and catch up. Also very little candy stations for the price. Overall excellent.

We had a great time celebrating my sister's birthday and see all the animals. We really enjoyed feeding the giraffe and seeing the meerkats, the bird sanctuary was really cool! I most enjoyed the gorillas, especially the baby. Fun fact: this is the zoo where Ivan went to after being rescued from the mall,The one and only Ivan. Riding the train was fun and if you have little ones the kids zoo section would be great for you!

Zoo Atlanta, in my opinion, was very small and not worth the admission price. About 50% of the snack stands, animal attractions, shows, and kids zone were closed. The Train ride was not included in the admission price which was $3 per person. After paying the $3, we got on the train which did Not go around the whole zoo and was only about 5 minutes long. Zoo Atlanta really needs to go down on their prices for having so many of their things closed. We didn’t get to see or do half the things and still had to pay full price. I didn’t like that. The poor animals looked sad 😞, thin, not happy.

Go for the Pandas! This is one of only four U.S. zoo's with Giant Pandas and they have 4! This place is pretty small for such a major city. That being said, it's cute but not super maintained (don't hurt me)... It feels like they don't have proper funding? I enjoyed my time but I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I had my expectations set to high? Loved the Pandas and the zoo keepers were sweet and knowledgeable. This zoo just left me with more to desire. Sorry! Pro-Tip! Free street parking across the road. Easy walk especially considering you'll be doing a ton of walking anyways. Save a few bucks and spend it on a snack or souvenir.

The pandas were the reason we went to this zoo, and they did not disappoint. We enjoyed all the other animals, too. We went on a weekday with a timed entry. The crowd was light and the zoo has clear ground markings at each animal exhibit to make social distancing easy.

I went yesterday and it was lots of fun. It was sprinkling yesterday so me and my boyfriend were the only customers in the zoo. We loved being there without anyone else it was a lot more peaceful. Some exhibits weren’t open because of Covid. However it was still lots of fun. Animals are well kept, the pandas are so funny, and the monkeys are super entertaining to watch.

Went to the zoo today. It took my boyfriend and I about 4 hours to get through everything. Mind you we had all day so we took our time. Most of the animals were out and were pretty active. Zoo staff was cleaning a lot and very kind and active. My only complaint is the people. The disgusting nasty zoo visitors who don’t seem to realize were in a pandemic. They also can’t social distance, wear a mask properly if not at all and seem to have forgotten how lines work. The zoo has lines marked on the path six feet apart and even boxes marked for you to go look at the animals. I have never been cut in front of so many times it basically pushed aside. Even before the pandemic! While my bf and I were in line to look at the lions a woman and child cut in front of us... then calls for her husband to join them! I said there’s a line and the husband yelled there’s plenty of room. I explained were in a pandemic and there are marked lines and marked viewing areas for a reason... he had enough audacity to tell me I was rude by following the zoos guidelines and after his family cut in front of us! I honestly still cannot believe the nerve those people had to call me rude as y’all cut in front of me! I wish their was more zoo staff enforcing the rules they put in place to keep us all safe. Some of us care about our safety and the safety of those around us.

Most inner city zoos are lacking but I was pleasently shocked here. The layout is a tad.....odd but its otherwise really well done. There is actually quite a lot shoved into such a small area and the keepers are very active among the day. Its honestly really quite well done. All in all its a good bet to take up 3-5hr of your day.

Many of Chandler’s animals made their way to a new home at Grant Park Zoo, which is today known as Zoo Atlanta. One of the oldest zoos in the United States, it is also rated as one of the best in the country for the conservation of endangered species and animal healthcare. The zoo’s grounds are able to boast around 1,500 individual animals coming from 220 different species. Among some of its rarest are two giant pandas, a family of gorillas, and Malaysian sun bears. Elsewhere, Outback Station contains Australian species including kangaroos and cassowary, while World of Reptiles has more than 450 venomous and non-venomous cold-blooded creatures.

Great zoo. I have visited many zoos most of them being metropolitan in this zoo is very clean and the animals look very healthy. The only thing that I noticed was that I could not see a lot of the animals because they were not in their habitats for various reasons. That's the only reason it does not get five stars.

Pretty good zoo for the most part. Not as big as Cincinnati Zoo or Tampa Zoo but has a few unique animals that's worth going to see. For instance, they have Pandas andKookaburras. The aviary is really cool with all kinds of neat birds building nests and living together. Overall I'd recommend visiting this zoo.

Kudos to the Zoo staff and administration for making so many improvements! In my opinion zoo Atlanta is one of the best zoos in the country because the large enclosures allow you to see the creatures in their natural and social activities..most impressive in my opinion were the Gorillas, Lions, Pandas, monkeys, terrestrial birds. I also really liked the information on wildlife conservation that accompanies the exhibits.. because whether we like it or not some of these creatures could soon be extinct. You'll see that many are already extinct in the wild. Good chance for us to become more aware of wildlife conservation. The majestic pink flamingos are a beautiful first stop as you enter the zoo. Enjoy your visit!

Awesome display of lights at night! You can see light displays of all kinds of animals. A bit crowded but overall a good experience. Also got food at the zoo restaurant since we didn't get chance to get dinner beforehand. They also have hot chocolate and a gift shop in the tent next to the dragon. We sat there and enjoyed the view.

Came here for the first time with my family. Pretty nice zoo. The entrance closed at 3:30 PM today (02/19) however the zoo closed at 5:00 pm. It was fun, there was a big park for kids to play at and a little one as well. We went on the train for $3 per adult, it was a really short ride. I was hoping it was longer. Took us about 2 hours to walk around the zoo, the signs states in closed areas you have to wear a mask age 2+ however I seen a lot of people without masks inside. There was a couple habitats without animals. Would consider coming back. Food and drinks is of course expensive..bathrooms were decent. Kids had a good time!

We had our daughter's 4th birthday party at the Pavilion. The Marlena that helps with booking and food ordering, did a great job from answering my many questions. Many of the stipulations had changed from COVID-19 times. We were able to have more than 16 guests and were able to bring in our own waters etc. The prices for the caricaturist almost doubled so we decided not to add that to our package, $250 was not bad but $495 is almost the same price for having the party at the pavilion to begin with. I was advised they are independent contractors so the individual sets their own price. When we arrived the table was set with the pizzas, juice, chips, and cookies I had ordered as well as the gift table was set up. They provide plates napkins and a server that will serve food to your guests. She also cut the cake we brought in which was a big help. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself after the party and we wanted to go to the petting zoo but they were closed until 1:30pm. We then walked over to the carousel and then the playground which was open and had lots of things for the kids to do. Our daughter decided she wanted to walk up on the treetop area, which surprised me, because of her age she had to go with a parent. She had a blast up there with her Dad and wanted to go to the zoo again the next day. We have a zoo membership which ended up being cheaper in the long-run for the whole family. We had 4 adult and 4 child tickets then it included 6 friend tickets and discounts to many different things at the zoo.

Loved being able to see all of the animals! The bathrooms were as clean as you'd expect with all the kiddos running around. The petting zoo area is great for the younger children. There's a lot of food and drink options and they're relatively affordable.

Such an incredible zoo!!! The zoo is laid out very well so it is easy to navigate to ensure you see all the exhibits. Lots of kid friendly areas for when the little ones need a break. The exhibits are spacious with multiple ares to view the larger animals. Plenty of staff to help answer any questions or point you in the right directions. Lots of food options for when you need a break. And the pandas are a must see as it is only 1 of 3 zoos in the US where you can see them!!! Definitely a must do!!!

A good portion of the zoo is shaded, which was super beneficial in the hot Georgia sun. I was disappointed that some of the places inside weren't actually open when the zoo opened. You had to circle back to them later, but other than that it was a great experience.

I've been to Zoo Atlanta several times but not within the last 3-4 years. Overall it was a great day. We went on memorial day weekend. It was busy, but not over crowded. It's a nice 2-3 hour venture into something fun for almost everyone.

This place was awesome. We went here as part of the city pass that we purchased and it was well worth the time and money. We went early on a Monday morning and we didn’t have to wait to get in. Everything was open and there was a lot to look at. The animals all looked fairly healthy and active. The pens and areas they were in were clean and inviting to look at. Definitely a great place for kids and families. We spent a little less than 3 hours here taking our time and of course taking photos of all the animals.

We had a great time here, this was one of the things included in our city pass. A lot of the animals weren’t out the day we went but we were still able to see some! And I will say we were kinda disappointed because there was only one of the 4 food places open and we were excited to try the food truck they had but they were closed. We will definitely go back just to get the full experience.

This is an awesome zoo! For being in the middle of the city, it felt like it was pretty secluded. Parking was easy with the Park Mobile app. We didn’t have lines to get in, and had bought our tickets online so that process was a breeze. They give free tickets to veterans! The elephants were our favorites, but there are tons of great animals to see. Zoo Atlanta is a well laid out, clean zoo. If you’re looking for a family-friendly activity in Atlanta- going here and the Aquarium will be well worth your time!

Great experience! One of the zoo's employees really made it awesome. Mrs. Dana Hines was attentive and showed my daughter around to a lot of the attractions and educated us on the animals. If you can go early and beat the crowd!

Great zoo with different species. Most of them were inside due to weather drop, they are setting up the zoo for Xmas lights, also they are arranging stuff to view animals in a closed setup with temperature controlled rooms. We had a good experience, The weekend is recommended for the crowd, if you want to see the animals in peace choose the weekday.

Great place to visit especially if you have children. There is paid parking in the front of the building, some people opt for the street parking around the neighborhood. I got there around 11am and all the animals were up and walking around, some were being fed by employees. My son who is two enjoyed seeing the assortment of animals very much. There were plenty of restrooms in the zoo. They also had different dining areas as well as a large playground in the back for the kids, and a petting zoo with goats and sheep and they allow the children to brush them. Overall Great experience!

Came here with my family for the Illuminights Chinese lantern festival for the first time and had a wonderful time! It wasn't crowded at all and I enjoyed the numerous refreshments around the zoo. The lanterns were breathtaking and I was surprised at how many there were. I would definitely recommend going to the festival whether it's solo, with family, or on a date. You will not regret it!

Basically, Zoo Atlanta's design is subpar. While many other zoos have open areas for tigers, lions, leopards and rhinos, here they make extensive use of wire cages. I am not sure if it is because of the cold weather, many wild animals cannot be seen at all. You can only look for them in empty fields and wonder where the animals have gone! If it weren't for seeing the final exhibition of China's giant pandas, I wouldn't want to spend $47 per person. However, I still gave it a 5-stars because Zoo Atlanta is sparing no effort in caring for the four Chinese giant pandas that are about to leave the United States. Personally, I think the pandas are the only highlight of this zoo. They are really cute which I spend 4 hours here. Unfortunately, they will return to China in 2024. Bye bye Pandas!

Going to the zoo with young kids is such a great experience! I love that there are such a variety of animals for my kids to see and experience. If you have a stroller or wagon, make sure that you’re prepared to push/pull them up some hills but it is not too bad. The kids area is so much fun as well. There are some paid activities but my kids love the free petting zoo and then spending time in the playground to get the rest of their energy out. We pack our own lunches to save some money and spend the day!

We went for the lights last night and it was beautiful! The pandas were out and Jackson by the plush stand in the pandas area was fantastic in giving us information about the zoo, the animals, shared pictures with us and we're definitely coming back in the spring during the day! The staff was amazing. The lady in the front did a great job routing everyone and making it fun for children and adults alike. Such a wonderful time!

It's not as big as I expected.. but is very nice, great hand made decor around making the walk extra enjoyable. Pandas were the reason we planed a part of our trip this way. Bucket list! The twins are planning on returning to China Spring 2024, with parents following that Fall. Other exhibits in great shape, it was cold so many were inside which weren't able to be observed by the public.

The Zoo is always a peaceful animal experience. The zoo has added a new paid parking feature...$12 for a day or $3 per hour. Give yourself extra time to pay for parking. Order your tickets and reserve your arrival time online before going. You can bring a lunch and snacks! Mid week early morning is the best time to arrive that i have found.

Timed reservation - no line, parking garage with lots of spaces. Can move through the exhibits as fast as you want. Was raining on and off but most of the animals were out and the loins would announce to the park they were ready to be seen. The Red Panda has a nice bamboo habit and the regular pandas seem extremely playful. The reptile exhibit is completely inside but not as impressive as others. The elephants and girffaes are fun for kids as well as watching the rhino run or move a log.

  • 5/5 Jesse G. 3 years ago on Google
We all had such a super fun time! Giraffes are my son's favorite animal, and he finally got to see them today in person. I can't wait to go back on a day where he can hand feed them. We got to chat with the keepers at different habitats. It was super cool to learn about all the gorgeous animals, and see the passion the keepers have for them. I can't wait to go back!

The zoo is doing a decent job with social distancing and making sure everyone stays safe. There is supposed to be a marked one way path that everyone follows. We found it difficult to stay on that path at times as it wasn't clearly marked. All though one way paths are necessary with the pandemic, it does make it impossible to go back and see your favorite animal before you exit the zoo. Winter isn't the best time to go as the zoo had many animals gone due to the temperatures. Plan on at least a two hour walk. Great place to spend an afternoon or longer with the family.

  • 5/5 M S. 3 years ago on Google
It was different going to a zoo in a downtown setting. And of course the way it was setup to follow social distancing guidelines was crazy but they did a good job. My family and I had a good time. We saw just about all the animals they had. I was actually wore out in the end because my youngest son made me go all the way back around to go see all the reptiles. It waa his birthday so I couldn't say no. 😊

I love zoos. I would suggest to visit when the weather is warmer. I visited on a very cold day, since I had to purchase my ticket on line I was unaware that several animals were not on display until I presented my virtual ticket. What exhibits I did see were very nice. I would have felt the money I spent well worth it if I had seen what the entire zoo had to offer. I will go again, but in the spring or summer.

  • 5/5 Miss Felicia G. 3 years ago on Google
Because of the pandemic, the zoo was not crowded at all. There were a few customers who were not following the mask on rule but other than that, it was a clean and pleasant experience with me and my oldest daughter who is visiting me this week. The staff was very nice, especially the nice young lady who was feeding the otters. She answered a lot of questions for us. Thank you all for working today. I enjoyed my day the Zoo Atlanta!

My husband and I purchased the membership for $120 and we took our then 10 months old to the zoo on weekly basis before COVID. It was fun time for our family. My son just turned 3 and we didn’t get to go as much as we could but we continue to purchase the membership to support the zoo. I highly recommend Zoo Atlanta. I gave 4 stars because the Food Truck for dining needs improvement. The service was lacking professionalism. Staff members were rude at times and less helpful. For example, the line management needs improvement for calling order numbers. If one parent accompanying a 1 year old, I believe they should take into consideration that a young baby could not sit waiting alone at the table while the parent waiting to pick up food from the truck window. The staff never show empathy towards customers situation and was rude on more than a dozen occasions. More training needed or hire good people who have a service mindset. Thanks, Jocelyn Lokey

WOW, just WOW. Absolutely the best zoo I've ever been to....and I'm used to Busch Gardens Tampa and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Breathtaking exhibits. Bucket list kind of place. I saw animals I never thought in my life I would see in person. ***A word to the wise for those that use wheelchairs or walkers, this zoo is entirely on hills, and there are steep paths. I would recommend, as I did myself, to rent an electronic scooter. The absolute best thing, trust me, save your knees and your families from pushing you. They just got new ones that hold their charge, are quiet, and handled all the hills with ease.

The Zoo does a wonderful job with marking lines for social distancing. Also has numerous signs showing the direction to go in, and where to enter/exit. Boxes are laid out in front of exhibits for standing. All of this said, people do not know how to follow directions or make the experience safe for everyone. I am very happy with the park, but displeased with the lack of consideration from the other guests. This is still a pandemic and some exhibits are closed at this time. It is cold, so some animals are not in their habitat. All expected, but still had a great visit. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THE EMAIL, "Before you go..."

It was OK. We went with the city pass for no additional cost. Because we went in the winter there were a lot of empty exhibits. I would say about half were empty. The petting zoo was also closed. We enjoyed seeing the pandas and having the option to purchase food to feed the flamingos. They had 4 giant pandas which is the most I've seen at a zoo. I think this would be a lot better to visit in the summer with better weather and more animals available to see.

The zoo is laid out well, map wise, we were able to find our way around fairly easy. What I didn't like was that it was not personable. They did not have the name of the animals on the displays or much about their stories. We only learned the names of the orangutans because one of the workers was walking by. A lot of the animals were not on display due to the weather, so that was a bummer. The gift shops are not super overpriced like the aquarium. Overall, it was just ok.

No warnings on their website or ticket purchasing page that many (majority) of the exhibits are closed and a large number of animals are not on display. We went to the zoo for a family day and were highly disappointed with the lack of displays & no notification (or discount) of this. For a family of 4 we spent $116, we do not feel the experience was worth it. The animals that were on display were clean & in nice environments. the gift shop at the entrance/exit was clean & monitored for capacity.

My family and I went on an Sunday at 2pm. You have to set an online appointment now so make sure to do that. Overall going to Zoo Atlanta was great. Masks are required, they do have food. Their pretzels taste great I highly recommend them. I'm giving them 5 star's because I didn't see any flaws rather I wasn't deliberately looking for them but it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend bringing food with you because you can and Zoo Atlanta even has a place to eat. Overall I highly recommend visiting and bringing you're kids if you have any!☺

A lot of the exhibits/displays were closed but they charged full price for entry. Yes its a business but everyone is affected by covid in some way. At least give the customers a chance to decide if they want to see a half open zoo by informing them of the closures.

It was a great price for the size of the zoo. They did an excellent job of internal fundraising with add ons to your zoo experience. They really tried to encorage social distancing. The trip started off bad as we got ran over by a double stroller trying to get in line to enter. Viewing the giant otters had a large viewing area and mom's were right on top of us holding their kids 6 inches from us instead of spacing out. Parents also stopped in high traffic areas to add something to strollers instead of pulling off to the side. Maybe it's been a while since I was in a crowded situation but I think the kids did great moms in particular were Savage. The zoo could have done a better effort with traffic flow in areas that caused a pinch in traffic. Hand sanitizer machines were empty and we were in at 9 am and out by 11 am. Maps also were not super clear for the exhibits and not great signs or direction arrows for entry locations but plenty of do not enter and exit only signs.

Took my 2 year old daughter today. Pleasant weather (high of 75, sunny/cloudy) made for an exceptional visit with no sweating. Sad to see the kids playground and petting zoo were closed (because of COVID). A bit annoying that 2 year olds were required to wear masks at an OUTDOOR venue, this is the only place I’ve ever seen requiring 2 year olds to wear masks (it’s usually ages 3 and up). Train ride was too short, should be more tracks to go further throughout the zoo. Flamingo feeding machine only took quarters, but there was no change/quarter machine next to the flamingo food station, and the gift shop would only give me 8 quarters (for me to share with 5 kids, each flamingo food serving required 2 quarters for fifty cents each, and it was such a tiny amount that came out). All the zoo employees we encountered were friendly, pleasant, and eager to help us navigate our way through the zoo. Won’t return until everything is fully open, like the petting zoo (which is what we came for), splash pad/playground, the slides, the tree top zone, etc. Most of the food places were closed as well, and what was open was the same at each station (pretzel, popcorn, cotton Candy, ice cream). Admission for ages 3-11 should be discounted since the things geared to them are not even open.

The only selling point for Atlanta Zoo are their Giant pandas! Amazing animals to watch and enjoy every moment! Worth every penny! I have been to many other Zoo’s in the US so I did not find this zoo so great, its small with very limited species but well maintained! Must watch- Giant Pandas, Tiger, Wild encounter bird show, giraffe feeding! Rest is just usual zoo staff! Not worth- Train ride $3 for a 3 min ride !!

I absolutely loved it!! The staff was very friendly and informative. They were very accessible if you had any questions. The animals looked healthy and very well kept (I know this can be an issue for some people). Their habitats were as homey as it could get. At least I think so, lol. I will definitely be going back. Side Note: it is much more convenient to park on the side closest to the entrance. The parking deck is quite a walk from the entrance.

I haven't been to Zoo Atlanta in about 7 years. There are some beautiful updates, including the huge new space for the Elephants and a really nice reptile center. White rhinos are now in the old elephant exhibit. My 8 year old daughter and I really enjoyed our time there. Definitely purchase your tickets online for timed entry. We went to the zoo during the day and went back that night for the Japanese lantern festival. It was fun during the day, although alot if animals weren't out because of the cool weather. We really enjoyed our visit to Zoo Atlanta. The Panda exhibit was definitely a highlight! I felt like the Zoo had probably been budgeting for feeding the animals rather than upkeep during the pandemic, because some of the walkways and buildings were closed and covered with leaves - but this was fine by me, as long as they are focusing on caring for the animals first!

  • 4/5 Dan W. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty fun zoo with a good number of attractions without significant walking in between. There are a few dead ends you have to backtrack but it's still manageable. Lots of animals were out even on a cool (even for Wisconsin folk) day. The kid area was pretty fun too. There are additional attractions like a park, petting zoo and train. However in comparison to other zoos like St Louis or Tampa it didn't really compare - hence the 4 stars. Pizza was good but soft pretzel was atrocious and maybe a bit of luck of the draw.

Excellent zoo! If you live in the Atlanta area the best bet is to buy a member pass. You get discounts on food, souvenirs, rides, and unlimited visits. It pays for itself in less than one visit if you get lunch. The kid zone has a carousel, splashpad, rock climbing wall, petting zoo, and a train that goes through the zoo. The holiday lights were fantastic this year as well!

I am from Sand Diego, so my standard for zoos and wild animal parks is very high. The ATL zoo is overall a nice place to visit. The park itself is small but there are so many well planned exhibits that allow us to view these incredible animals. It is worth the money and time to go if you are in the ATL. Be aware the location is kinda odd for a zoo, considering it is literally in the middle of the city. One great feature is having it next to the park. This gives kids time and space to run off that excess energy after getting jacked up on my dew or fruit juice and the excitement of seeing animals close up.

Fun place! No entrance fee for military. It will take 2-3 hrs to walk around...they have section for farm animals that you can pet as well. The train ride was a fun but short and you can't see the animals while on the train. Kids will like it for sure.

I went there on Saturday morning and attended illumi night in the evening. It was a nice zoo. I loved to see the animals there, especially the pandas. Some animals were not exhibited die to the cold weather. Not very satisfied with the parking fee as the ticket was already expensive.

A very well kept and informative zoo overall. The animals were clearly well cared for and the informational signage around the exhibits were great. It would have been cool to see more signage about the specific animals on display in the exhibits. We really enjoyed seeing all the different types of animals and the staff were very friendly and happy to answer any questions about the animals. Our favorites were the red pandas and the reptile house. The zoo is medium size and we ended up spending about 2.5 hours here. We visited using a CityPass.

We did the lights at the zoo for the holidays this year and it was pretty cool. The latter a are super detailed and the stations for hot chocolate and treats are well spaced. We even got to see a few animals like the pandas and llamas. The stations for treats had churros, hot chocolate (optional to add Bailey's), cider, got pretzels and popcorn. Was perfect on a cold night.

It's one of the wonderful family entertainment place in Atlanta... Entry ticket $32 look like little expensive, but once we go see inside I felt it worth. THEIR maintenance, hospitality, neatness is really awesome... And I came to know that sick animals, abandoned species will be brought here for treatment... The curators are really great... They are rearing them like children... The Zoo authorities also appointed some guides to provide information about species and habitations... Children really delight to watch them... You should not miss The BIRD SHOW in open theater...

I went to the Zoo in honor of Cancer Survivors. This was my first time going. I had a lot of fun. Feeding the giraffes 🦒 was the best. It can get very crowded at times. I also liked the fact you could bring food and drinks from outside, as long as it isn't glass.

Fun place for a family outing. There are a lot of animals and many interesting interactions too. Definitely recommend buying online tickets before because the waitline was really really long. Their highlight is the Panda trail so that wait line is the longest but I would say worth the wait because watching the Pandas' interaction was very fun. They also have a lot of statues and playground for little kids. Would visit again.

First time at this zoo. It’s winter so not a lot of animals are out in the cold, so we’ll have to come back in the spring. There’s a Chinese lantern event going on which looked really cool. We didn’t see it but I can imagine how it might be at night time. It was easy to get to and easy parking. There’s a great play area for the kids.

Located near downtown Atlanta, it is a fun place for visit with kids. The zoo is large and takes about 3 hours to visit. The enclosures for Gorilla, Giant Panda and Tiger is most exciting. Giant Panda can be found only in 3 zoos across USA and Zoo Atlanta is one of them. There is lot of greenery around though during peak summer it still feels warm. For the kids, additionally there is a splash pool, train ride and carousel. Food options are limited though one can find few outlets. Thing to note is timed ticketing. Booking in advance can save upto $4 per person and it is cheaper on a weekday

Really nice family zoo. Lots of animals to see, and they look well taken care of. Very clean facility, the zoo host a lot of events for families as well as adults. If you have a lot of kids and will go to the zoo a few times in the year the membership pass is worth it. They have a spring sale until the end of April. Besides the animals the zoo has a nice splash park for kids for the summer, and a carousel, and a climbing tree top activities for little and big kids. You can bring your own food too if you don’t want to pay for food in the park. My kids love it and I do too.

  • 5/5 Latosha B. 11 months ago on Google
Great time. I appreciate the ease of getting around with a double stroller and able to get to each area to see the animals with my kids. I would say very much accessible. Saw those with wheel chairs and electric ones. We went more mid day mid week and it was nice, most field trips were ending so it wasn't too crowded. Also the best is we got to use the library pass for the zoo.

  • 5/5 Ian Van F. 10 months ago on Google
I love this zoo, and most especially the red pandas and the reptile exhibit. It's easier to park in the parking deck, and I usually just buy my ticket there. The food is really good compared to most zoos and aquariums. I recommend giving yourself at least 5 hours to see everything, but you can easily spend all day here, if you want to leisurely walk around and take your time watching the animals.

Wonderful Day at Atlanta Zoo Located near Downtown Atlanta. Tons of animals, reptiles, Birds and more to see and also learn about. 2 Giant Panda at this zoo which is rarely found in USA Zoos. Gorillas are something else you don’t get bored watching them. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the king of the jungle( the lion). They Also have a playground and you can buy tickets for a ride on the train and tree top playground(for kids)😁 Drinks and ice cream are little bit pricy which is normal in these places. Took us around 3 hours and half for almost the whole zoo! Highly recommended! Definitely will be back!

Great experience! Kids loved it. The little kid zone with the train, carousel and water fountain was a hit. My toddler was amazed by his favorite animal 'E' (elephant). The whole park was very clean. I just wish they had a better map.

Beautiful place to spend your day! They have different activities you can do with your little ones, splash pad, and they have a lot of animals to see, the reptile area is amazing… also you’ll be able to see Pandas! They also offer other activities with an extra fee, but is not expensive, like train, carrousel, feed the giraffe and more.

Awesome experience if you love animals. I went in the morning and got to see all the animals except the zebra. I love it. Approximately 1,5 hours to see it all. More if you're a passionate.

We had a great time at the 90's themed adult party night! I would highly recommend it to everyone. The keepers were interacting with the animals to keep them up late and the atmosphere was festive. Plus there were an abundance of awesome outfits!

Had a Great time here they have lots of animals and everything is spaced out well so your not bumping in to all the people I went on a Sunday and it was only mildly busy at around noon. They have shows as well talking about the animals and lots of reading material near each animal. They have a cafe in the middle with refreshments and food, kid zone near the end and gift shop as well. Pay for the Daily parking as you can only do max of 3 hours for hourly.

Had a great time at the Zoo. I would definitely recommend that you get there early, by the time we were leaving people were having trouble finding parking and there was quite a line to get in. Paid parking via an app or a kiosk. You can buy tickets online or in person. Huge variety of animals and activates both kid friendly and adult friendly. They have large animals like elephants, rhinos and giraffes all the way down to small baby mice. The park is oriented in one large loop with small paths that branch of so just pick a direction and go. There were snack and drink options in the park.

We had a great time today. Took a out 2½ hours to see all the sights and animals. We didn't go to the kiddie playgrounds so I'm sure you could spend over 3 hours there with no problem with a smaller child. Most of the animals looks happy with the exception of 2 species, but I believe they are transitioning between enclosures. I would suggest getting there as close to opening as possible We arrived a bit after 9 and had plenty of spaces to choose from, but when we left around 1230 people were circling as the lot was full. Parking was $3 per hour. The staff and volunteers were attentive and eager to answer questions. It really wasn't quite as big of a zoo as I expected, but it was good time.

We really enjoyed the zoo and saw so many animals. The long walks were not bad since there were so many trees and shade. The gifts shops were great as well.

It was a beautiful day at the zoo! The animals were active and appeared well cared for. The zoo keepers were friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds are clean and well kept.

I went with my family a few weeks ago during a holiday weekend. The wait wasn't too bad but be prepared to wait and hunt for a decent parking spot. It does cost to park on site, but cashless options are available. Tickets for children are cheaper but not cheap, there is a discount available for military veterans. We sent around 100 for 3 adults and 1 child for entrance not including parking. The animals were in spacious enclosures though some of the animals we wanted to see were not active or hiding away from the crowds. Might have been due to the time we came around 1pm. The reptile building was by far the highlight of our trip. We played "find them all" in cohabitated enclosures and my 10 year old had a blast. Definitely come with snacks and water. I refuse to pay $5 - $7 for a bottle of water.

If you're an animal lover, this is an absolute paradise! They've created a beautifully maintained haven, perfectly suited to cater to the interests of every type of animal. The level of detailed information provided about each species is truly impressive. The Zoo staff are not only friendly but incredibly passionate about their work. I was especially thrilled to see their commitment to a Zero plastic policy throughout the property. You can easily lose yourself in the wonders of the Zoo for an entire day. The kids were over the moon with excitement! The Zoo also offers a handful of adorable gift shops, delightful eateries, and immaculate restrooms. And don't forget, there's a wonderful park nearby waiting to be explored! This place is an absolute gem!

Really enjoyed our time here. Glad we got to see the Giant Pandas before they leave in the spring. The zoo has lots of shade which makes it enjoyable without being too hot. There is some projects being worked on right now so be prepared for some construction fencing.

Had a great time. Not all of the animals were out but not the zoos fault. Was a little disappointed that the rides weren't included in the admission price...as it's not cheap to get in. At least the train would have been nice. Overall, the kids had a good time!

The zoo is definitely something the kiddos should come and see. It’s not tremendously large so walking with little ones is definitely do-able. There are several food options on site and it’s about what you would expect to see and pay for something like this. There are a fair amount of variety of animals to see and their habitats, while not perfect, give some space for roaming for them.

It was a lovely day to go to the zoo. Beautiful and sunny, the air was crisp. Not overly crowded. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Doesn't appear to be as big as it used to be.. or have as many animals as they used to. Very disappointed in the pricing. There are no discounts for little ones under 6 years old.. You even have to pay full price for 2 to 4 year old toddlers. Keep in mind, you also have to pay for parking. You will have to have patience with parking, because you may find that there aren't any open spots. But, if you continue driving around, you'll find that people are always leaving, so you'll find the spot eventually.

Again no matter what age you are , you will love all these animals and birds . Such a lovely and clean zoo to visit. You can see cute little red panda, white panda just being panda by laying at one place, giraffes having fun ( you can also feed them ), elephants playing in dirt and drinking water, gorillas and what not.

This zoo is what any zoo should be! Not too big (perfect sized actually). Not trying to keep as many species just for the sake of being attractive. Zoo personal very helpful and friendly. Animal helper(?) knowledgeable, willing to give insightful explanation about their animals (why they are in this zoo, how are they helping protecting their species, ect...). Just a wonderful few hours to spent "outside" the city. I only did not gave them 5 stars because I am not really a pro-zoo person

One of our best zoo experiences, most animals were interacting and interesting. The facilities were well kept and the panda’s stole the show… definitely a must visit. The size of the zoo is just right…

We visited the zoo on a cool, overcast day. It wasn't too crowded, though we were disappointed that the animals in several exhibits were hiding. Overall, it was a great visit as we got to see the pandas before they head back to China. We enjoyed our trip and highly recommend others to check it out! Note: Discounts are available for military and students. Plan on 2-3 hours to see everything.

A wonderful experience! My wife and I have been to a few different zoos, and this has by far been a favorite! All of the enclosures provided amazing views of all the wildlife. Buying the tickets ahead of time made the whole process simple and easy. Look forward to visiting again next time we are in Atlanta!

The zoo is very well laid out. It's not a huge place. There are a lot of interesting exhibits and of course we still have pandas. It is noticeable that lots of adults come to the zoo without kids meaning you can appreciate the place on a different level.

Great zoo experience for kids and adults. A few species of animal we hadn't seen in other zoos. If you're fortunate enough to visit Thanksgiving through Christmas, I highly recommend the evening light presentations. We went both during the day to see the animals and returned at night for the lights, which were just spectacular!

We had a great time at the Zoo Atlanta for their IllumiNights attraction. The lights were beautiful and colorful. There were a few animals that we could see although must of them were inside for the cold months. Our family had a great time together and I’m grateful for the opportunity to visit Zoo Atlanta. I hope to return in the warmer months to see the rest of the zoo.

Zoo hits hard for its size. The pandas are the last in the US and they always put on a show. Giant otters were super cool to see. I was very pleased even with the higher admission compared to other zoos I have been to recently.

  • 5/5 Nicholas P. 4 months ago on Google
Good size zoo. I was satisfied with the amount of animals I saw. Cost of admission depends on when you go. The admission prices are slightly higher on the weekends than like say Mon- Thurs. Other than that it was reasonable for me. We just took an Uber to the zoo vs driving. We spent several hours there.

Awesome! During cold months many of the animals do not engage 😞 some we didn't see at all because they were trying to stay warm. Go during the spring, summer, or maybe fall. Definitely skip the winter visit as many of the animals are indigenous to warmer temperatures than 30-50 degrees in Georgia winters.

The Zoo looks great. The lanterns can be enjoyed during the day, too. It was a colder day, so some animals didn't seem as active as normal, but the lions were incredibly active. We never could spot any orangutans. Only 1 restaurant is open. It was swamped with a really long wait for food, which meant rushing to try to see as much as we could toward the end of the day.

The Winter night experience here is on a whole other level. The zoo put in the hardwork to make sure every animal was well represented with the lights and amazing decorations. The kids loved it! 100percent recommend. Dress for the cold and pack some snacks cos there will be a lot of walking involved. Note - All live animals are asleep and covered up during night visits/tours.
