We had a great time at the Zoo. Driving around takes about 3hrs to see most of the exhibits but not rushing. Next time we will be going using the electric buggies and would recommend going this way if you have a family or small group. The animals appear to have great enclosures with lots of space to roam, not feeling trapped. They all look well taken care of. There’s plenty to look at and the information on available to learn digitally about the exhibits is handy. More QR codes with text sites or videos would be appreciated. Take the day and explore this awesome zoo.

We had an amazing experience at the zoo! The fallow deer was a standout as we happened to be there at feeding time. The zoo was busy in the morning but from about 2:30 onwards a calm descended over the zoo and it was wonderful. We went back a second day because we loved it so much.

Such a cool zoo with environmental and conservation measure and efforts in place. The best way to enjoy the zoo (especially in the heat of summer) is to drive your car through. They also have buggy’s for rent as well as bikes if you are feeling up for it. My favourites were the rhinos and the tortoises. Must say that the australia exhibits were really lacking compared to the rest of the park

A great place to spend at least half a day, for everyone, singles and families. My day stated at the zoo at 8.30am and I was visiting the wildlife by 9am. My plan was to drive the 6km circuit and get to the enclosures before the human wildlife and before the animals wandered away from the front. This proved successful and I found myself alone enjoying the wildlife by myself. Once my drive of the circuit was complete I hired a geared push bike, even thought it was 39C, and then completed my visit and and could ride my bike up close to the viewing platforms. The hire people were very helpful and made sure I got the bike that was most suitable and comfortable for me. You really don't forget, and I'm ancient. So, on my bike and onto my exploration and wildlife adventure. The wildlife were completely cooperative and stayed in viewing range where I was able to get fantastic photos. I stopped halfway for a refreshment where there was a cafe, a paddling pool and lots of tables and shade. I found myself revisiting most of the wildlife multiple times for photos from different angles. I really enjoyed my visit. Finally returning my bike to the hire shed, I went to the main Cafe and had a delicious fruit salad. On the way out I visited the zoo shop and bought some excellent gifts and keepsakes. There are plenty of picnic spots all along the circuit with complete facilities. I whole heartly recommend the Taronga Wildlife Park Dubbo for a day out.

Good fun for kids. To get around the zoo and you can walk, ride bikes, hire an electric cart or drive your car through. Hire a cart or bicycle for a good fun experience. Make sure you book the cart online. We hired an electric cart for the day which was good fun. When you buy your tickets online make sure you tick the box if you plan to visit zoo for two days at no extra cost. We covered the zoo in 3 hours. Try to visit early morning. They have a Water play area for kids. There are clean amenities throughout the park. the "Watering hole" cafe offers tasty & affordable food (though during my visit had to wait for 30 mins to get food). If you want to bring your own food there are a couple of picnic areas to stop & enjoy. Animals have big enclosures they have plenty of land to roam. Highly recommend going in the morning around 9-12am as after midday animals can be seen sitting in the shade are are nor much active.

Had an absolute awesome time, would definitely recommend to anyone of any age. We had our two kids both under 3 and the grandparents and everybody had a ball. It works out cheaper of you get tickets online, there is concession prices available and kids under 3 are free. You can hire a 6 seater cart to drive around the zoo with the option of putting your kids car seats in the cart. There was also bikes available for hire if you wanted to have a ride around the zoo. Your able to drive your own vehicle or walk as well. I really loved how natural it was, there wasn't really cages rather open areas with appropriate fencing suited to that animal, with quite a few having motes around them. We had the cart for the day which I found was a good amount of time with kids to see all the animals, as you have to walk to a lot of them from the parking bays they have.

Fantastic zoo. You can drive, walk, cycle or electric cart around the zoo (fee payable for bikes and carts). We chose to walk, approx 5 km in total. If you drive there is plenty of parking at each animal enclosure. There are a few picnic areas and bathroom facilities within the zoo, as well as a cafe at the main entrance. We did the giraffe experience which was wonderful. The keeper and volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Wonderful zoo. Well laid out with expansive enclosures for the animals and good viewing points to see them. Elected to drive but you can walk or hire a bike or golf buggy. To really take it all in I would recommend a minimum of at least 3 hours.

Great zoo with plenty of things to see. Carts were good with room for only one car seat though and only 3 hours seems a bit short for the amount of attractions. Bikes with kid seats and trailers seem like the better option for families to have the full day. Decent food available and good gift shop.

Amazing experience with a good nights sleep amongst the animals. The whole experience was planned with feeding the animals ( carrots for the giraffes) by hand and up close experience with plenty of exotic species. Food was good, staff great, overall a really enjoyable experience. The tents were very comfortable with wonderful views of the savanna and the animals while we had drinks on our balcony

Awesome zoo with African animals. The Savannah Safari makes you feel like you're in Africa. There's so many different animals to see in the zoo, you need a full day to see them all or take advantage of the 2 day ticket. It's great being able to drive your own car through the zoo at no extra cost, there is plenty of parking throughout. It was worth making the trip to Dubbo to explore the zoo.

Great zoo experience. We booked tickets online and a golf cart to drive around the zoo. Booking online enables you to largely skip the ticket queues. Hire times are from 9am - noon and 1pm -4pm. Whilst the carts are fun, you are competing for parking around the exhibits with other carts and cars. If it's not a rainy day it's better to hire one of their bikes or ride your own. That way you can ride right up to the exhibits. The Cafe serves delicious food and the gift shop has items for all budgets.

This is one of the nicest, prettiest, well laid out and presented zoos that we have ever been to. We decided to walk around the zoo, rather than drive a car, hire a buggy or a push bike. We loved the way that the open enclosures were set out, giving you the feeling that you were seeing the animals in the wild. The highlight of our visit? Going into the lion enclosure. What a fabulous experience seeing these magnificent animals up so close. Thank you so much for a fabulous experience.

You can bike, walk and drive it. You can also hire a buggy. The zoo is fabulous, they have feeding and talking times about all the animals. Plenty of cafes around the park and amenities. The keepers do a fabulous job with there info on their animals that they take care of. You can experience this on your 2 day pass. They also have accommodation.

What a wonderful experience we had at the Toronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo. We hired a golf cart to get around which was great. Unfortunately I booked the AM session twice by accident and the incorrect booking was not refundable. Next time we would use our own vehicle to travel around the park (which you can do) but at least we had fun in the cart and can tick it off our bucket list. Along with feeding the giraffes 🦒. This experience is definitely worth the extra fee. Keeper talks are informative and you can tell from the enthusiasm in their voice that they love their job and the animals they care for. Whilst there are 2 places to eat and vending machines at picnic spot, I definitely recommend bringing your own food, snacks and cold drinks. Our teenage children loved the experience and close they could get to most of the animals. We will be talking about the memories we made today for a long time to come.

You can walk, hire a golf cart or drive around. We choose to walk was well worth it however then need more signs on walking trailers so you don't get lost. Was great to see lots of animals up close, the safari tour was well worth the extra money. The Cafe was a little underwhelming though and could only do basics as they didn't have a chef today

It has a huge area and lots and lot of species, they do allow you to drive your car inside. I loved it. Plenty of unique animals on display. Entry ticket is not very expensive too.

It's such an amazing zoo. We spent the day driving around the zoo with our own car. The animals have so much room that you can see how happy and healthy they are. We did the hippo experience with zoo keeper Glyn he was amazing it was one of the best animal experiences ever learned so much about these beautiful animals and got to feed them up close, we also did the safari tour with Kate she was amazing. The whole day here, and it was filled with unforgettable memories. We highly recommend this zoo.

You could drive there so it will allow you to stay in the car when it’s too hot. Although it is a big place there is less animals to see than the Taronga zoo in Sydney as the animals are rarely seen out unless during feeding time. The zoo is quite small so if you drive it’ll just take you around half a day depending on how long you stay at a place. You can’t see the big animals from a close distance as it is usually moving around.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo is one of the must-go places. Though limited types of animals, but the zoo tried to keep their wilderness so it's a big place to spend your whole day. It would be best if you plan for 2 days so you can see all animals in the zoo. You can drive your own can inside the zoo, as it is stretched to a big area. Night stay also available here if you want to experience a night with wild animals. I like the way the zoo has set up itself, comfortable for us as well as animals. Your kids would love the place.

Look overall a great place to take your family, most budgets are catered for, you can walk it, drive your own car, bike it or hire a golf buggy to get around. There isn't a massive range of animals but enough to keep everyone having fun for 4 or so hours. Have been 3 times with the kids over the years and each time has been memorable.

Amazing zoo with incredible animals. It is so lovely to see all the animals with such large spaces and also feel so close to them. There is plenty to see and learn for all ages, and you certainly won't be bored! Bikes are a great way to get around, but walking is also viable if you're up for a leg workout. The food options are limited, so would recommend bringing a picnic or snacks with you. We also did the hippo encounter which was excellent and well worth the extra money.

You can't go wrong at the zoo, wide open spaces beautiful animals. Well organised at entry to check in. Book ahead if you want a buggy or a bike or drive your own car. Slip, slop, slap, it gets hot. And don't forget the fly repellent. Enjoy your day.

Our new favourite place. We loved our time here. We drove our own car through and stopped to see almost every animal. And animals are plentiful, in wonderful enclosures and obviously have great affection for their keepers from what we saw. The keepers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Don't be afraid to ask questions or thank them for the great job they are doing! It's hard to pick a favourite because we love all animals but the rhinos were just beautiful. I hope the world can save them because they are truly majestic creatures. Facilities on-site are plentiful and excellent. There are water bottle filling stations and toilets everywhere. The kiosk had some nice food and a decent selection of drinks. One thing I was very impressed with was the recycle bins they had available. Coming from Queensland, these are unfortunately few and far between. There are also camping and other overnight options available in and around the zoo. We stayed at the Rhino Lodge, just outside it. Glamping in a beautiful safari tent was the perfect place to come home and rest after a day at the zoo. All in all, 10/10. We will be back!

It's the longest walk we ever done during this Christmas holiday. Although we visited taronga sydney 2 years ago, western plains is still different. We got there a bit late (10am) as all the ebike are sold out (rent) so we decided to walk around instead of driving inside. Wide areas for different animals to acclimatise themselves with the area.

Always a great place to visit, a couple of exhibits closed for work. Missed the Tassie devils. The zoo should look to grow the diversity they have. I especially liked the large exhibits for the animal comfort, while allowing viewing from multiple sides to ensure the animals could be seen. One of the best zoos in Australia.

It was great to see the diversity of the ages of people being able to enjoy this zoo. The drive, walk, bike hire & vehicle options really were working here. Very different set up with enclosures, it was great not having to look through bars at everything. Would recommend to all ages, bring your kids, bring your great grandma 😁

Beautiful time of year to go. Just before school holidays and not too hot or cold. We went April 1st. If wanting a cart to explore I suggest booking well in advance. Also note that only one car seat can be fitted per cart and police do patrol the roads in the park. Also check out the botanical garden in Dubbo while you are there. Absolutely stunning and huge koi fish in the Japanese gardens

The Taronga western plains zoo in Dubbo NSW is an amazing zoo for the family and very easy to access. You can hire bikes, golf carts or just drive your car through. The Savannah safari tour is a must! it was very enjoyable and informative. There are many places to stop and have a picnic. Your ticket grants you access to two consecutive days, so you can take your time and split it up over both days. The animals had plenty of space and you can see the giraffes and zebras running around.

The Zoo is located on Obley Road, south-west of the Dubbo city centre. Ample free parking is provided. The Zoo consists of a 5 kilometre circuit, which can be walked. Bicycle hire is available for $17 a day and electric cart hire is also available. You can also drive your car around and/or bring your own bicycle. If you don't manage to see everything then the entry ticket provides for a second day access. The animals are kept in fairly open enclosures that are not hampered by bars. The Savannah Safari experience, an additional guided tour, is available for $10 per person. With this, a bus, which has a capacity of 26 passengers, provides close encounters with South African animals such as zebras, giraffes and rhinoceros. This ride is very popular so it's recommended to pre-book.

We had a great two day experience at the zoo with two adults and four children. It was nice to see animals in a very natural environment just being themselves. We booked everything in advance including the Giraffe encounter, the Meerkat encounter, the Savannah safari bus tour and cart hire. Everything was perfect, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the food was great, zero complaints from the children who really enjoyed their visit.

The African zoo to see in Australia. Drive, bike or walk to the many different animal exhibits on offer. All tickets purchased give two days of access to the zoo and you'll need it. Walking shoes are a must. We loved every minute. Definitely will come again in the future.

Great experience and most animals were out and semi active. Third week of May and it was cold. As we purchased tickets in advance we had limited information on getting around the park - Walk, cycle (own bike or hire a bike) or drive (own car or hire a cart). We walked and we were a little bugged by the end. Next time I think we will cycle. Navigating via the phone app was a little painful as each time an icon on the screen gets touched it rotates from the view I preferred using. The basic paper map was easy enough though. Recommend the Savannah safari truck. Overall we enjoyed it.

Awesome place. The tickets are valid for 2 days, recommend doing an afternoon session and then the next morning. Hire a bike on the day (there are heaps) much easier than driving. Not enough toilets for young kids. Also, don't bother paying for the safari tour, not worth it.

Such a lovely zoo, you can hire bikes, safari cart (seats 6) or drive round the zoo. We hired the bikes, with a baby seat. It's a work out but worth it. You don't have to park and keep hoping out and in. Only downside was that we needed to get back by half 3 to get the bikes back but the park doesn't close until 4, we found that we had to rush round the end of the park. What was really cool at the time was the hospital was showing a lion on the table that was getting a check over. Super awesome. This Is a must see if you are in the area

We had the most amazing time at Dubbo zoo today. There are many different ways of getting around the zoo you can drive your car, hire a cart or bike but we chose to walk around. The enclosures were spaced apart well and noticed the animals were well looked after. The animals were all amazing and I cant wait to come back again sometime soon!

Beautiful zoo, well worth the drive. If you are driving definitely stay a night or two. Make sure you don't go on a hot today, we went when it was 31 degrees and that was just bearable. Fairly quiet on weekdays.

Super great zoo. A lot more open than those found in Sydney. Also, a vast number of animals too. Great experience. I would advise that you allow for minimum 4-5 hours to see everything and have time to enjoy. Also, restaurant is at the entrance/exit so just plan around this.🙂

Always wanted to come here. Decided to drive through the zoo in my own car but I didn't expect I'd be walking quite as much as I did. It was quite a hot day so it would've been nice if there were a few more shady spots on the trail. There were lots of animals to see but I definitely recommend going in the morning because by midday many of the animals are resting in the shade, which isn't always close to the front of their enclosures which I totally understand considering the heat.

Western Plains Zoo is an amazing and all consuming way to enjoy the beauty of the natural world in an environment so close to what you would expect in "the wild". This is important for us to see as we, at the same time, are destroying the natural habitat of these magnificent creatures at an ever-increasing rate. These magnificent animals are cared for amazingly and allowed to roam in large and expansive natural environments. The zoo is the size of a town and we, fortunately, put on our ticket to do our visit over two days and we can't wait to go back to complete the visit tomorrow. We chose to drive the six kilometre drive through the zoo, stopping off and visiting the many groups of animals: the meerkats, the cheetahs, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, elephants, bongos and so on and so on. Each group of animals had their own world in which they could roam and gives us the opportunity to see as close as possible their social interaction and family groupings. Absolutely wonderful! We've been to many zoos around the world and in Australia and the concept, scope and vision behind Western Plains Zoo is awe-inspiring.

The Western Plains Zoo was amazing. We cycled, which was the best way to see everything. It took us about 3.5 hours to leisurely bike our way through the full zoo. If you buy tickets online, you get a discount and can go straight to the bike/buggy hire, or drive straight to the entrance. The early morning was great, as the animals were all active before it got too hot. The cage was great too, and there are picnic spots throughout. Well worth a visit!

What a great place to visit. The exhibits are easy to access with some walking involved. The animals seemed to be most visible and active in the morning. The water play area was a great hit with the younger members of our party. Covid procedures in place. Clean amenities. Reasonably priced and delicious food available. We stayed on site at the Savannah Cabins. A great experience.

Great to see plains animals spread out in natural looking grass lands. The farm goats are very friendly and interactive (near lion's enclosures). Even though it was raining lightly, most of the animals were outside and did not seem bothered by it. Driving around in your own car was very convenient, as was staying in a Savannah Cabin.

Drive you own car, it’s $70 to hire a golf buggy for 3 hrs. A good zoo, designed for travel on the road, not great if travelling on foot. In busy periods there can be long (45-60 min) wait times for food at the cafe halfway along.

We were very disappointed in the zoo and the number of animals at the zoo. The good thing is they have a plenty of room to run around. And we thought the place was a little dirty as there was rubbish around the place.

(Translated by Google) The place is great for spending a nice day with the family. After the entrance you can choose if you want to do the entire route on foot or with your own car as in the zoo there are many parking lots near each attraction. Alternatively, you can also rent a bike or a small electric car. There are also a couple of eateries as well as a shop in case you want to buy zoo related gadgets. There are also picnic areas. The zoo is located a few kilometers from the city of Dubbo and is very easy to access.

It's worth to see, you get so close to many animals, they tried to build a similar environment like Africa prairie, but little bit far from Sydney.

  • 4/5 Fiona W. 3 years ago on Google
So amazing to see animals in a more natural environment and incredibly grateful for breeding programs working on preserving endangered animals. So important to take little kids so they can appreciate why they must work hard to look after our environment. We drove around in air conditioning and parked and walked which was lovely, but you can hire a golf cart or bikes as well. Human facilities need some work. There were was nests in the bathroom that had clearly been There a long time and had wasps an inch long crawling in and out making it impossible to wash hands. Drink machines were out of order on a hot day.

Fantastic. kids had the best time. Loved that it wasn't just 1 or 2 of type of animal but often 10 or 20 of them

Absolutely fantastic family zoo. Many different options of getting around - foot, bike, cart or car to suit the weather and your personal preference. Awesome variety of animals and great to see them in larger enclosures. Excellent rest/picnic areas, playgrounds and other children's facilities. Well done to the zoo team!

  • 5/5 John Z. 3 years ago on Google
Amazing place. You can watch some animals really close up. There are 2 place where you can touch animals (fellow deer and pygmy goats). But for most other animals I would recommend bringing a good camera or a pair of binoculars. Best to drive your car in, as it's quite big inside. Riding bike is also a great option. It took us one and a half day to finish the whole zoo (though we have 3 kids, which slows us down) Nice water play area.

  • 5/5 Misuki V. 3 years ago on Google
An amazing zoo with a wonderful concept and brilliant programs. The fact that they have buffer room as well for the animals is amazing in itself. Best of all the animals in themselves seemed quite content and happy!!

Was great too see open padocks but makes it limited to see some of the animals. Is a very limited zoo more around basic African animals and nothing nothing more. Adelaide Zoo has a larger range also in well maintained areas.

Me and my family visited the Zoo last weekend from Sydney. We didn’t find it too impressive. Overall condition of the Zoo was not great - Not so clean or green, Australia section was so untidy and the huts in Asian section were horrible. They could make it so much better with larger and combined enclosures - like some animal shows, marine and reptile park etc. So less eating options/ drinking taps. Not value for money

Nice location, plenty of animals, gift shop not outrageously priced. We decided to take the car and drive in, convenient parking spaces near exhibits and a great view from the car also. I wouldn’t say it’s better than Melbourne or Werribee zoo but it’s certainly a good experience nonetheless

Great place to be with family. Family friendly environment. Best ting is that we can drive through every station. Kids enjoy every single animal. Few things management need to consider is open electric fence. Which seems to be scary. Water hole needs more improvement as rocks are paved on kids way. This can be safety issue for kids. This also need to be covered with UV protection shade. Overall this place is worth visiting. I also think this is one of the most beautiful zoo in Australia.

A great zoo. Haven’t been in a few decades since being a kid and it’s better than what I remember. Visited early around 10am, very busy and very hot. The animals were understandably trying to keep cool by hiding/sleeping/being inactive. A couple of things to keep in mind The buggy hire is a novel idea, but if during summer keep the car and have air con breaks 😂 The safari experience sounds great, but waiting in 38c direct sun for a few hours put us of (Taronga - put up some shade cloth at least)

  • 5/5 Gayle D. 3 years ago on Google
Such a great experience. Took advantage of being able to drive our own car on a 38 degree day. Easy to get around the zoo, and the set up of the animal habitats is great. The water park area was great - could only been made a little better with more seated areas in the shade. The fact that you get a second day free is a bonus!

Great place to visit. Find out energetic times for animals to improve your experience. Animals have a good size enclosure compared to most zoos. Food at the eateries is reasonably priced. The kids play areas look great. Very informative. Plus they’re doing a great job for wildlife conservation and awareness.

Went to Dubbo zoo 2 times in June 2021. The first time was in the afternoon which we were less than satisfied with because the animals were all waiting for their food and were waiting at the door of their cage. On the second day, we went in the morning and it was much better. The animals were active and in some cases playing with each other in their enclosures. The gift shop is super expensive as expected. If you are desperate for something to do in Dubbo then think about going to the zoo. Personally I wouldn’t go back.

Had heard a lot about the drive in aspect of the zoo and we finally got a chance to visit. We booked the tickets online in advance. We could directly enter the zoo with the ticket received on email. The difference in this zoo is that you can drive around in your own vehicle and visit the animal enclosures. Although I drove around this time, I felt it’s better to take the electric buggy which costs around $70 and accommodates 6 people as you can make more frequent stops and get on and off easily compared to a car. The enclosures are pretty big which could result in you not seeing some of the animals as they may be far away from the viewing area. Overall a good visit.

You definitely need the two days if you’re on bikes. It’s a huge place and with kids you won’t see it throughly in one day. First day we biked and second day we got a buggy. Buggy is lots of fun and a welcome relief after the previous day of biking in the rain. Having said that, don’t be deterred by rainy weather. It rained solidly the two days we went but it didn’t make a difference; the animals were still very active in the rain/cooler weather. Despite their vast enclosures there was always an opportunity to see the animals up close. At the time we visited there was nothing along the line of apes/gibbons/chimps/monkeys which was surprising. If you’re with NRMA you can get a discount on your tickets through the NRMA app.

A beautiful place to visit with your family! Having a Zoo Friends family pass allowed us unlimited entry into the park so we could take our time to go around with the little ones. If you can, I’d recommend visiting from age 1 up as the little one can ride with n adult on the bike or cart. It makes getting on and off a breeze without the hassle of buckling and unbuckling them from a car seat. Also I 100% recommend staying onsite for at least a night, again with kids it allows you to take the time to explore without the rush. We stayed at the Zoofari Lodge which was pricy but absolutely worth it at least once, especially in the animal view room where you can sit back and watch the rhinos sleeping, giraffes eating. It includes a behind the scenes tour in the afternoon where you can feed giraffes, a morning tour seeing elephants bathe and a drive inside the safari to see the animals up close. My little one loved it! Also recommended for at least 2.5 years up so the little ones can understand and appreciate it better. Dinner was a mini banquet style dinner, for us being big eaters with was on the lighter side and a tad sweet for our preference but still enjoyed it. They were also able to accommodate dietaries the best they can. Breakfast was more filling as we could add on items, they had a option for pancake & full English breakfast, I had both 🙈 I only wish the check out was later so we could enjoy the view for longer, so I do suggest if you can skip one of the tours just so you can take time to enjoy the views especially if it’s winter where the sun goes down earlier. Staff were all wonderful and hard workers! Doing the tours and serving us at dinner/breakfast. Would go again!

Lovely zoo, very knowledgeable zookeepers and amazing conservation work going on. But the car situation keeps it from being a 5 for me. The design of the zoo is so that you can 'drive or walk around it', which basically means it's suited for neither. We chose to walk around, and you're constantly worrying if someone in a car is going to run over your child should they forget the zoo is an active roadway. I really wish it was closed to cars and just let people enjoy walking around. My favourite part is that the animals were on lower ground, which meant you could see many of them without a big fence in the way. That's a lovely design detail. Really pleasant cafe/play area where we could relax. And we did the early morning tour which was fantastic. We could have skipped the 'safari' experience. You're driving around in a bus on a track (not unlike the cars driving around the rest of the zoo!) and you got the feeling they put the cool animals in the enclosure just so they could charge people more to see them. We used both days of our two day pass because there's a lot to see. And it was fun.

Really well set out zoo. Animals in their natural environments. You will get a map when you arrive and you can either cycle, drive or walk around or a combination of all of these. We were in a car and decided to drive to the well set out car parks along the way then see each exhibit in each car park. Nice walks and nice picnic facilities. Loved the meercats, tigers, lions and giraffes. Loved all of it really. Daughter who is 8 absolutely enjoyed the day. Buy tickets online. Cheaper.

Fantastic zoo as far a as zoo’s go, not really into animals in captivity but this zoo is massive and well maintained with large compounds. Fantastic for all ages, walk, drive or hire a bicycle as we did. Well worth a look if your in Dubbo or just want to see a great zoo.

Absolutely loved our visit, allow a full day, it's huge and you don't want to miss a thing. Looks to me like they take exceptional care of the animals in their care, this makes me happy. Also makes me happy that they are helping to restore some animals back to the wild to recover from the threat of extinction. This is a must do if you are in Dubbo.

We spent the whole day there. Highly recommend the Early Morning Walk. We were guided around by a volunteer and got to see the animals in a completely different setting. Such an amazing experience. Breakfast at the cafe was reasonably priced and delicious. We then spent the rest of the day driving slowly around the zoo and partaking in some of the zookeeper's presentations. We even took a packed lunch and ate sitting at the elephant enclosure This is a great experience for everyone of all ages

The lodge stay is excellent. I have to commend the staff as there seemed to be a bit of a staffing dilemma that weekend but everyone stayed 100% professional and did not let anything get in the road of giving everyone a perfect experience. I've never seen my kids give anyone so much attention as the guides at the Zoofari Lodge! Thank you, and hope to see you again someday soon.

Great zoo, friendly staff, and way to see all the exhibits. Recommend the bike hire. The bikes are well maintained, have disc breaks, and no need for gears as the paths and roads are flat. Only criticism is the signage can send you round in circles and or back to the start.

One of my favourite places to visit with my little one in Dubbo! Such a great family friendly environment! Great to visit on foot, riding bikes or by driving through. During hot days, the water hole is just perfect! Especially because there is a food court right next to it, as well as toilets, and a decent shade for the parents to keep watch over the kids playing in the water splash.

We really enjoyed our day at the Zoo! Animals clearly looked after very well, loved the layout, and the carts and bikes made it much easier to get around. One of our family did the hippo encounter which was amazing. We also did the safari which we all enjoyed. A few bits of feedback though: Even with the cart there was a lot of walking required to see things (which having an ankle injury I struggled quite a bit more than I expected to with a cart). Not being able to go backwards in the cart meant we had to park and walk back to some exhibits as the talks didn’t align with the animal encounters we booked. There is not enough water refill stations and we ran out of water (it was hot and we packed 3 large bottles which wasn’t enough to get between taps to refill). The map on the app isn’t great - the paper one is much easier to use. Take hats and plenty of sunscreen/long sleeved shirt as there’s not a lot of shade to take refuge under. The hire bikes are great, but there are none with training wheels and our daughter was too big for the bike trailer. We ended up having to get a cart instead which was fine but a lot more expensive.

👍👍 Hands down a absolute highlight of our visit to Dubbo. So unbelievably informative, interactive experience not only for children, but definitely for adults. The short video of actual people helped by RFDS was great. Seeing real time data of where planes were travelling to was really interesting. Hel...
