This place is so much fun. My 4yo and 2yo both loved it, especially feeding the goats and llama at the petting zoo. Being the first week of August, it was really really hot and dry, so most of the bigger animals were secluded in the shade. We will be back to visit during a cooler time of year. One area is currently under construction, but the whole place was wheelchair/stroller friendly. The staff was very friendly and attentive when my niece got stung by a bee. Overall, it was a great experience.

Great experience! Loads of fun for its size. The variety of animals is awesome, they're so close you can actually see them and really get to know their size and beauty. Very informative too, the keepers are very knowledgeable. The petting zoo was awesome as well. The Llama was so gentle it let my 5 year old hug him several times. The goats were excited and were very involved lol. Overall was a great experience and I can't wait to see them expand!

A cool little reptile exhibit on the way to Austin or San Antonio. A great place to stop to take a driving break and some real cool animals and reptiles to see. Facility is clean and well maintained. The inside is great fully air conditioned. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable as well. We had 4 adults and 1 child. Children under 3 are free and admission only came to $90 with tax and 2 bags of food for the petting zoo. The Grand kids loved this place and considered it a grand adventure. They have many exotic varieties of snakes, birds and other animals.

This was a sleeper stop on a down vacation day for our full crew. I went in thinking this was nothing more than a highway side stop with a few snakes. I was very wrong! This was one of the most amazing surprises. The diversity of animals and the interactive and educational talks with the staff and animals are pretty great! Indoors and outdoors under covered areas so it stays nice and cool. Everything from lions, hyenas, wolves, camels, jaguars, owls, snakes, toucans, Buffalo, camels, bearded dragons, monkeys, petting zoo...and soooo many more creatures to see. Very well done! I visit the Dallas zoo frequently with our children, but this feels so much more up close and personal. I would say this is a must see place if you are in the area. We saw a birthday party there that looked like a lot of fun. Great staff that really have a passion for each of the creatures and what they need.

I finally remember where I've seen this place when I saw the snake pit. It was featured on "Dirty Jobs" TV show a few years back. If you like snakes you will love this place. Good variations of snakes and other animal for its size. Little ones will love it. It has a petting zoo and gorgeus chickens. I would go in the morning if you are visiting in the summer. Part of the exibit is outside, however they do provide plenty of shade for the animals and visitors. They have mini presentations throughout the day.

Great little zoo and road side attraction. Great array of reptiles and very clean. Just wish the lions and wolves had more room. Really sad how they have maybe a thousand square feet. Just doesn’t sit right with me. They seemed very well cared for though. Petting zoo was fun! Will go back again.

We were delighted to stumble across this hidden gem in the San Antonio/Comal County area. My family and I frequent a lot of parks, zoos, museums, resorts, etc., so we're familiar with the industry/terrain of "family-friendly" fun. The line moved a little slow to get us in the doors but we eventually got in and got our tickets for entry; perhaps there are online tickets I could have purchased ahead of time? Disappointed at how high the costs were to enter; I believe it was around $30 per person? I understand the cost of running an establishment of this nature but for a family of four, that's $120 (maybe higher) plus tax? Plus gift shop, food to feed the animals, snacks/drinks, etc.; too high. There is, however, a great selection of snakes and animals to learn about. The place makes for a real educational experience. The kids and entire family had a great time with how close we were able to get to the exhibits/animals, the variety of species, and the petting/feeding zones. More restrooms are an absolute must and non-negotiable for how many people frequent the zoo; there are outdoor port-a-potties, but in this heat, who could stand being in there for more than 10 seconds? Way too hot for that. Overall, good but not great due to costs and restrooms. Let us know when you want us back and we'll try to have a better experience.

Great experience took our 19 month old and we had a blast. I have never been so close to the animals at any other zoo. The petting zoo was especially fun with goats and the llama. The snake walk was nice as well. A vast array of reptiles in clean well kept cages. We will be back for sure. Better than Austin zoo by far.

Nice road side zoo. They have an amazing collection of snakes and many other animals. Staff was friendly and informative. They also have a petting area where you can feed/pet goats and a big llama. Enjoyed my visit here.

The best Zoo I've been to. And I've been to the San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas zoos. They have larger animals like wolf's, lions, crocodiles, and buffalo. And my favorite the capibara. They're missing large animals like gorillas, chimps, elephants, rhino's, hippos, bears, and giraffes. For $20 I got to see the animals up close and visit the petting zoo area. Amazing place to bring your kids. The gift shop was great too.

Awesome experience 👏 would recommend the animal encounter. Take your time while visiting. Place isn't big, but it is well worth the time and experience if you like animals.

This place was a lot of fun! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable! There were way more animals than I was expecting and the parking was adequate and free! I will say that I think you get a better experience earlier in the day, by midday the animals were definitely losing interest and weren't as engaging as they were earlier. My only complaint is that they only provide enrichment for the large animals "at least 2x a week" and many of the animals were really bored and did not look happy.

I had a very fun experiencing getting to feed and interact with all of the animals! It’s a nice place to check out with friends and family. There’s also a lot of information regarding where the animals are from, what they like to eat, etc. Definitely make time to spend a couple of hours here as there is a lot to see and do.

I was disappointed to see many enclosures closed and empty. A lot is under construction and they are still charging full price. I went at noon during a week day and I don’t feel I got all my moneys worth. But we still enjoyed learning about the few animals that were there. Sad to see the panthers missing.

This place is so cute. It's kinda small but it has a lot of potential. Tons of snakes and different animals. Lions, hyenas, jaguars, and even wolves. I would definitely bring the family. Kids would be excited about this place!

This was a nice little zoo at which to spend an afternoon. For $20/person, we definitely got our money's worth! My family and I were visiting from Southern California, and we don't have many zoos like this around. As soon as you walk through the front door YOU ARE IN IT! Snakes and lizards to the left and right! They even had an anaconda and a black mamba! The staff are all very nice and helpful, and they make announcements for all guests to know when a particular animal was going to be fed so that you can join and, depending on the animal, participate! I highly recommend that you visit this place!

Great alternative to the San Antonio zoo. Not as big, but still has a nice assortment of animals. We had a really fun time here getting lucky enough to see the care takers feed the lions. Gets really busy here on the weekends so plan accordingly especially as COVID continues. I believe they were in the process of expansion the last time we were there, so hopefully, this is still the case for our next visit.

If you're a snake lover, this place is great! Snakes from all over the world! Venomous and non. Most of them visible, not hidden. Gorgeous big cats up close! Vivacious monkeys that will touch your hand. These animals don't seem to be sedated like some of the bigger zoos! Great experience!

Great place to take the kids.Glad they finally were able to reopen. You now are able to schedule a time slot and every effort is made to allow you to maintain social distancing while there. They also have several hand sanitizer stations. We really enjoyed being able to watch them feed the alligators, hyenas, lions, wolves, and mountain lions. They have the largest display of snakes that I have seen here in Texas.Staff is friendly and provide a lot of information about the animals housed here .Kids enjoyed feeding the chickens, roosters, goats, peacocks, pigs, sheep, and llamas.

I was scared to find a zoo a la tiger king ... but nope! This is a nice farm/zoo. You'll see A LOT of snakes! Plenty of crocodiles from all sizes, bisons, a couple of white lions, panthers, mountain lions, ostrich, zebras, birds including toucans, from very close. We know zoos in LA, NYC and San Diego but this one allow to be much closer to the animals who can still hide in their den when needed. While I have a hard time with animal in captivity, I wish we knew the story of how those animals arrived here (rescue?). This is also a way for us parents to teach our children about protecting animals from abuse, poaching, pet use and how to protect their habitat (their main threat for survival). We ended with the petting zoo and gave treats to dwarf goats, normal size goats, I male sheep, a lama, a black pig. That was awesome. Protected in their own pen, baby goats were only a couple of days old, mischievous as one can imagine. We had a very nice time and will probably return.

This zoo is awesome for kids! I brought my family and we were not disappointed. Lots of snakes and reptiles when you first walk in, and lots of animals when you go out the back. When I was there they had staff showing animals in a sort of class setting which I thought was awesome, and the kids loved the petting zoo. Only thing I didn’t like about the place was that they have a snow cone/frozen ice place in the back and it is completely overtaken by bees, but besides that it easily earns 5 starts!

I have passed the 35 Snake Farm for years on I-35. It’s always stood out like a sore thumb and appeared to be a random small roadside attraction that made me chuckle a little bit when passing based off the pure randomness of it. I decided one day to give it a shot and I was very surprised! This “snake farm” small zoo is very well run and surprisingly feels bigger than what it appears from the road side. The habitats seem very well kept and the paths to get to everything were spacious. It was of course interesting to see all the snakes but our family really enjoyed seeing the bison and feeding the free roaming chickens and peacocks. I was worried that this might be like Tiger King but the staff seemed overall very friendly an engaged with everything going on. If you get the chance I people definitely recommend making the stop and checking it out. My family ended up spending 3 hours here and will be back again!

Totally adorable little zoo! So much to see, learn and do! I loved the encounters. We had the Capybaras, Red Ruffed Lemur and Burmese Python. Kevin and Skyler were 2 of the animal hosts and they were wonderful. They really love those animals. Everyone was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve lived in Texas forever and have seen the signs for this place for years but never had went. I’m so glad we finally did.

Small zoo but it's just perfect for visiting in the hot summer. Most of the outside is shaded. I love the free roaming roosters and peacocks. What I liked most is that all the animals were out so we didn't miss any of them.

Wonderful time at the snake farm zoo! Lots of gorgeous snakes and even many unexpected animals like white lions and hyenas! We also got to pet Simon, a rather large python who was every sweet. Would absolutely recommend. We got there around 2 on a Monday and there were not many people there but after about 3p the families really came in! Tickets were a little cheaper in person at $20 per adult and the feed cups for the petting zoo were $5 each (definitely recommend).

Fun family adventure! The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable about all the animals. They have events every half hour, from feedings to general education shows. You can interact with the bisons, a baby alligator, goats, baby cows, a lama/alpaca, chickens, capybaras, pigs, and a snake. There are animal encounters you can purchase. We chose the fox one, and we all got to take turns sitting with the fox on our lap and petting him (Joe). We bombard the handler with questions, and she knew all the answers. Was a very educated and fun experience! They even have a snack truck on the lot where you can get beer! I will admit, I've driven past that building at least 50 times over the past 20 years, and I never knew they had more than snakes. I think it's a common misconception. The eyes skip right over the "Animal World" and only focus on "Snake Farm". I will definitely make my way back there again. It would be a fun adventure to bring visiting family and friends.

We were on our way out of San Antonio when we saw a sign about the Snake Zoo Farm and decided to stop by and see what it was all about. This ended up being the highlight of the trip! Theres an entire area dedicated to some of the world's most deadliest snakes plus other non venomous ones. The other side of the zoo had other exotic animals such as Lions, birds, tortoises, monkeys and otters. And for the kids theres a petting zoo area with Goats, sheep and a Alpaca that you can feed! All around great prices and family fun!

To preface, I am from New York and we have very different laws for our zoos. From a NY stand point, the large mammals need a loooooot more space. The spotted hyena and the wolves were pacing. Some enrichment for them would be great. I heard a worker mention how the property is much larger and they hope to expand, so I'm hoping a larger area for the big mammals will be made. Would love to visit Texas again and see an expansion with some happy animals rather than restless ones. NY standpoint: 3 stars Texas standpoint (comparing it to other places I've been here): 5 stars I'll leave it at 4. Also, the goats in the petting zoo kept trying to eat my shorts. This isn't a negative. They're just silly little guys.

The animals were cute but it was really hot when we went so most of the bigger ones like the wolves and big cats were sleeping. If you go. Try to go before the heat sets in! Also the main building is cool and had a real good time looking at all the reptiles. Staff was really friendly and they made time to still do their daily shows for small groups. Seemed to really care about the animals. Want to come back sometime as it seems they are going to expand over time, worth the experience!

Nice place to stop if you're in the area. Lots of cool animals. Chickens and some peacocks walk around, plus they sell food to feed them. Also a petty zoo with tons of goats and a cow. Careful going in with food to feed them. They know you got food and will crowd around you waiting for it. Overall great place to stop at and see some cool animals.

This was a great visit and we continually see new updates to the area. The snake cages are looking very professional and absolutely amazing. We will go back and we look forward to the petting zoo and the peacocks. For those adults that enjoy partaking in the occasional adult beverage, there are those available.

We visited on an early Sunday morning. The line was not too long. When we left, however, the line was super long to get in. My daughter had a good time looking at all the animals. I enjoyed all the chickens and roosters walking freely. The feed for the goats is 5 dollars. I do wish they had the option of having a bottle with milk too. I was surprised to see lions, a jaguar, panther, camels and other large animals there too. I thought they only had snakes and peeting animals. Although I did like seeing the larger animals (like lions) up close I cant help but feel bad for them at the same time.

I love this place, it's so interactive! There are shows every 30 minutes where they educate and bring out animals to see and even pet. My kids loved it. Just make sure to wear tennis shoes, because it is all gravel. Unfortunately, this makes it not very handicap accessible. It is possible to get a wheelchair in but it would be a little difficult.

With all the stuff going on with Covid-19 we needed to be able to have some fun safely with the kiddos. We we decided to visit The Snake Farm and I am really happy we did. The majority of the place is outdoors and open to exploring. Social distancing was easy with so much to see. Even during the educational shows the animal care staff did we were able to stay apart from others. The animals appear to be well taken care of and they were building new enclosures both inside and outside.

We've been coming to Snake Farm for a couple years, and each time we visit it gets better! They have a wide variety of different animals, from snakes and alligators to wolves and monkeys. You can purchase feed for the petting zoo and mealworms for the chickens and peacocks roaming around the zoo (they will eat from your hand!). The new owner has been working a lot on constantly expanding the zoo and improving the quality of life for all the animals. You can tell everyone that works here truly cares about what they do. We will always come back here whenever we are in the area!

We've seen this place for years on the trip from Austin to San Antonio, but only recently made time to take the kids. Of course they have dozens of exotic snakes, which is what they're best known for. But they also a few cages for primates, wolves, a hyenna, walk-in barnyard of goats + a lamma + a pig, zebras, camels, mountain lions, and a leopard. I'm probably missing something. All of the animals appeared to be lovely and happy specimens in well kep habitats. We'll be going again soon because since the 4 year old was intimidated by his first close up with goats he's been planning how to do it better. The kids had a great time. And we want to catch some shows with the Python next time.

One of the coolest and active Zoo’s I’ve ever seen! This may seem like just a roadside attraction, but this place is so much more! I’ve never seen an alligator even move at a regular zoo/Aquarium, here, I literally heard the gargle growl and watched the water vibrate. I’ve been to countless Zoo’s in a lot of states, never saw a lion move either. Here I watched a lion run across the cage to be with his ol’ lady it wasn’t even feeding time! Ever wonder how that dude in Colorado punched a mountain lion? After this visit, I do too, cause those two here were ferocious and all over the place! And never in my 34 years did I ever think that hyena’s actually laugh.. well they do! And I heard it here first! And yes oh yes the snakes!! I’ve never seen more active or moving snakes ever! If they weren’t in glass I woulda died of at least 20 different poisons! This place was Amazing, will definitely be back!!

This place is better than a regular city zoo. We watched them feed the otters and played with goats. They also had the most incredible white lion and we got an up close look at hyenas. They also had a HUGE python that looked like it ate a small horse for lunch. Seriously... You have to see it and support this place. We will definitely be going back.

I went here for my birthday, and it did not disappoint, they had such crazy animals, and lots of the enclosures were bigger then most zoos, we got to see them feed their *hyenas* and it was fantastic, I would definitely recommend going here! We were in there for a good 2 hours looking at all the snakes and animals.

Absolutely love this place. Our son loves the animals and the petting zoo. We take a mini road trip when we can just to visit this place.

I’ve been in SanAntonio over 30 years and never went to the Snake Farm Zoo. I visited with my 7 year old granddaughter. We both absolutely loved it. So much to see and the hourly presentations with different animals was fascinating- so much to learn. The snake displays were very well done. All the outdoor displays were so great. I was so surprised that this was truly a full zoo - lions, tigers, zebra, camels, buffaloes. We really enjoyed the petting zoo - gots were so friendly. The older llama was also so nice to be with close up (does not spit!). The miniature cow was also so friendly. This is a fantastic place to visit for a reasonable price. I’ll be going back.

It's changed so much from when I visited it as a child. For the most part, I really enjoyed it. The snakes were all healthy and seemed content, really nice displays for all. I was less impressed by the outside displays. The animals seemed stressed, especially the wolves and mountain lion. Still, it was a good experience, and the staff was clearly doing their best on private zoo funding. I highly recommend it, and even if you're an adult, the petting zoo is a blast!

So much cool animals here. There's so much to see and interaction with the animals. We fed the goats and Llama and mini cows. We fed the chickens and got to pet the bermese python! They have an assortment of tropical birds and the cockatoo talks. So cool! They have a souvenir shop and well as a small refreshment stand. The also have a rock/gem panning area.

A great place to take the family. They have many animals to see including, well, a ton of snakes. The most interesting part is when the animals are fed. The caretaker gives a talk while feeding certain animals. They have recently been accredited by the ZAA so they are accountable to an outside organization. I have visited several times in the past so I know they genuinely care about the animals in their organization.

Adult cost is 19.99, child is 15.99 Over all a nice visit, but the place is small for the cost. A cup of feed, is $6 to feel the goats and a cup of worms for the chickens and peacocks was $6 as well. Only 1 restroom inside, the rest are port a potties outside. So be prepared

Love this place! Staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. The shows are entertaining. I love how close you can get to the animals. Petting zoo is the best and my favorite part! We look forward to visiting again.

Such a great place that has only grown better over the years. We have been here many times and every time we got there is more to see. Super friendly staff and a clean place. We were there for the otter feeding and the lady explained so much about them and the rest of the zoo. The snakes were awesome to look at and seemed happy in their environment. They had camels with zebras. Birds with plenty of room, lions and other animals in a natural environment for them. They are going to expand soon an additional 26 acres so much more coming. Thank you for a great time with the family

I did not realize how much this tiny place had inside. It was a world of fun. There are so many unique animals that you can see up close. You can also feed goats, llamas, and peacocks. I highly recommend a field trip out here. There’s so much to see and learn.

This place is the best awesome little zoo. A good variety of animals not just the snakes. They got snakes, monkeys, bison, zebras, otters, turtles, hyenas, lions, alligators, the goat and llama petting zoo, and many more. Great place. Been a few times already and will definitely be going back.

Brought my toddler. She loved it. There are roughly 30-50 different snakes and reptiles. There are surprisingly a lot of larger animals in the back, lions, camels, monkey, and a little petty zoo. They offer a few different hands on experiences for different costs. We definitely enjoyed our time and will be going back.

If you love snakes and exotic animals/big cats, then this is the place to go. Private family owned zoo that specializes in snakes (obviously), but also has other animals in their outdoor area, birds, lions, Jaguar, black panther, bison, hyenas, alligators, zebras, lemurs and more. There are chickens and peacocks wandering freely outside as well. All the money you spend goes directly to support the zoo, they don't receive any state funding. They have a breeding program that helps requirements endangered species in partnership with other zoos, like the San Antonio zoo. They were featured on dirty jobs, so you can look that up to get an inside peak on what they do there. There are periodical presentations around the park with various animals, a petting zoo where you can feed the animals, live feeding of the hyenas, wolves and lions as well as personal one on one interactions with the animals, that one you have to pay for. Very interesting little zoo that has more to offer than you would think for a small place on the side of the highway. They told us that they just acquired another sizeable chunk of land to expand the zoo, so more stuff coming in the near future.

Highly recommend! I started taking my kids here in 1999 and now bring my grandchildren. A great place to stop and walk around on a road trip or just a local day trip. Pictures are from the petting zoo area which was the favorite for us.

Was quaint and small enough to enjoy in a personal way. They don't rush you, and you stay as long as you like. The variety of snakes is incredible. It is an opportunity to learn so much about snakes. The zoo animals are beautiful, and petting zoo is very entertaining. Adults and children will enjoy.

Pretty chill spot. They have some really unique snakes that I've never seen before. Plus the wolf is pretty cool. Wish they'd get another one, he looked a little lonely.

Enjoyed feeding the animals in the petting zoo. We were also there for the White Lion feeding. It was cool to learn about the White Lions and their history. It was a hot day, but there was plenty of shade. I was also able to touch one of the snakes. I believe it was large White Boa. Overall, it was a nice experience.

My daughter and I had a blast feeding and interacting with the capybaras! We fed all of the animals in the petting zoo and saw everything else they had to offer. We’ll definitely be back!

👍👍 Great facility for getting comfy tubes to float the Comal river (we just tried it today and I like it A LOT more than the Guadalupe). It's a warmer river which is NICE (the Guadalupe is WAY colder) + there are three manmade drops which are FUN!!! There's even an employee on site to guide parking wh...
