This place has always been amazing and it's gotten even better with the new visitors centre. The food is amazing, the tour guides are fantastic and its just an amazing experience seeing the animals not in small tiny cages like you do at your typical zoos. They are looked after so well.

This park is so well set up. The animals have endless amounts of space to run around and explore. The animals look happy and healthy. The main way to get around the park is on a safari bus. The bus takes you through the enclosures where you can get a really good look at the animals! The bus goes for about 1.5 hours and you are joined by a volunteer guide who tells you about the animals and the park! The entrance is very well set up. It has recently been renovated and it is incredible. The parking has become so much easier, and they have little bus stop type areas for each animal experience! While I was here I did the giraffe experience. We got up close with the giraffes and fed them carrots. This is the second time I have done this experience, and it was just as amazing as the first time. Would highly recommend any of the animal experiences, but would make this park a must see, even to just explore the park.

First ever visit, and very impressed. The new buildings are really nice, and I will definitely be back once the accommodation is built. We did the "Lion 360 experience" and it was amazing to get so close to these beautiful big cats. Highly recommend.

After a not very positive arrival to the park, we had a good time overall and can see the huge potential this place has. We appreciate that we arrived on an unusually busy day, however, the lines and organization to get onto the buses was a disaster. It was disappointing to get onto regular commuter busses to have our Safari experience, it kind of killed the magic a bit, however, once on board we began to enjoy our experience more. The park is still quite new, so still waiting for some animals to arrive but there was enough to sight to keep everyone entertained. The giraffes and the awesome viewing deck was a highlight for us. The quality of the guides varied greatly on each bus we got onto, however, most were engaging and very informative. I am looking forward to visiting again in a few years time when this place is more established more as it has so much potential. It has a very exciting future. The Cafe is quite small, and not the nicest to sit in, but there is outdoor seating, a nice play area for the kids and we found the food was fresh, served quickly and reasonably priced, so no complaints. Monarto is definitely worth a visit, but best to arrive early!

An amazing experience especially if you have kids. The tour guides are wonderful and explain the animals really well. The bus makes it perfect to get around as its 12km of walking. You can still get off the bus at certain points and back on if needed.

Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Which is exactly what you expect from the largest safari park outside of Africa! There are so many different animals, each with a unique story that your tour guide will run you through as you drive through the park. The guides are knowledgeable and you can tell that they truly care about and have gotten to know the animals. We also saw emu's and an echidna walking around the park! This would be an excellent experience for any animal lover.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Monarto Zoo. The experience is like going on a safari. We decided to walk to the outpost and catch a bus from there. The person serving at the outpost was extra slow, and it took over 30 minutes to serve us our hot chips. Additionally, we recommend extra bus services as the buses were full and we couldn't get onto one. We had to line up at one of the bus stops for over 30 minutes before getting on a bus.

We had an excellent and unique experience here, it's a very special animal zoo. My daughters love the giraffes very much. We love the commentators who helped us understand the animals, especially the sentence she said your presents help the endangered animals, thank you.

Monarto Safari Park is a must-visit! The open spaces give the animals plenty of room to roam, creating a truly immersive experience. The variety of wildlife is impressive, and the guided tours offer fascinating insights. It's a fantastic day out for families and animal lovers alike!

I’ve been here so many times and it’s amazing every time! We did the giraffe feeding experience this time which was so incredible. The guide was lovely and informative. The work that Monarto are doing for the conservation of so many endangered animals is wonderful. The new entrance way is beautiful and makes it much easier to find parking etc.

Pretty awesome to see the animals they have there. I think if you took comfortable shoes and spent the whole day walking to see the animals instead of the bus, you might see the animals more clearly. On the bus they have it's hard to see over people's heads who are in the row over. On the bus they have a man explaining things about the animals which I found interesting. The three men who work on the bus were really nice. They even helped with putting my grandson's pram under the bus and taking bk out multiple times. I enjoyed seeing the monkeys. They have such a big enclosure. It was actually snack time when we went to see them. You can take your own food and drink as there are picnic tables to sit at if you don't want to buy food there.

Great experience. The volunteers were very informative and enthusiastic. Only negative would be the wait between the buses (it was full from few stops so replacement buses had to be sent to pick up the passengers that were left to wait for the buses). Oh and the walking trails not friendly for prams, or any little ones that have only just started walking as it is uneven.

Awesome, heaps of open land exhibits, the bus tours are free and abundant, very good vision of most animals on the bus which is really good for not so mobile people, the guides on the bus are also very knowledgeable of the park and species in it. Lots of amenities along the journey, looking forward to going back and takling some of the walking trails

Fantastic safari park that is worth the 55 minute drive from Adelaide city centre! Absolutely enjoyed seeing the wild animals roaming in open land compared to boring zoo enclosures! Always remember to check the bus pick-up timings to reduce walking between the animal sights if you have limited free time. Otherwise, you'll need the whole day to view the park on foot! Use the map to plan your walking trails, especially if you have favourite animals to watch. Don't miss the special keeper explanations which include feeding the animals.

Family trip to Reopened Zoo, bus experience is so much better than previously. Animals are so close, lions & giraffes right next to the bus 🐾 the new visitor centre is welcoming, open & inviting. All staff knowledgeable, friendly & welcoming.

This was a great day.. The safari is excellent and the staff and volunteers are very helpful and informative. The cafe was fresh and clean with a great variety to order from and the gift shop was excellent in variety and price. I can't wait for the new white Africa exhibition. We will definitely be back....

Amazing experience. It's a must go place in Australia🇦🇺. The volunteers were very informative. Safari experience was amazing you can see all the exotic animals in the habitat real close. It's like Jurassic park feel when gates open and close.Only negative thing is wait between the buses. Overall very nice 👍👏😊.

This place is fantastic. Go at your own pace , relaxed vibe. Awesome animal exhibits/enclosures. Great view of animals from the bus that takes you around . You can get on and off the bus wherever you like . The Cafe at the new beautiful visitor centre , the meals and food were all beautiful and good value as most were quite large serving. If you're not a huge eater , I suggest sharing with a friend. 😉 as we went in off peak time, the other cafe was not open and would have loved maybe a vending machine or 2 at the other bus stops as we were very hungry by the time we got back to the visitor centre on bus , so if you have kids, pack snacks !!! But there are places to fill water bottles which is great.

Great place! Went on a sunny day and saw lots of animals. Did a full ride on the bus around the zoo, and the guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. Would totally be back visiting again as there are so much more to see and experience!

Absolutely amazing experience. The park is well maintained, and great to see animals in a bit more natural habitat. Keepers are knowledgeable and volunteers very passionate. A lot of play areas for the kids, as well as clean bathrooms readily available. Well worth a visit!

Amazing, just amazing. Friendly and humorous staff that will help you with anything. You can either take a walk throughout the park or either go on the bus (free) and experience inside the enclosures. There's water fountain at some bus stops which was really handy.

Love this place, which has been made even better since the new Visitor Centre opened. Can't wait to visit when the new hotel Safari Park area opens up so I can go glamping! The staff & volunteers are friendly & knowledgeable, and the buses around the park make for a comfortable journey. But...the animals are the 'stars of the show' and are what keeps me & my family coming back.

The park itself is amazing, the animals awesome. Be prepared for lots of working even if it’s just from the drop off stations but even more if you decide to walk the whole thing. Was bummed out that what I thought would be safari buses turned out to just be a normal bus 😩 tour guides were informative though. Lion gates had broken so we missed out on seeing them but the giraffes, rhinos & cheetahs were stunning, we stood for ages watching them.

Staff were helpful and polite, and you were able to see lots of animals. I would recommend pre booking online and purchasing an animal experience, we plan on doing this when we return for our next visit. When we arrived, there were no animal experiences available as they had sold out.

Better to visit in the warmer weather, it's very exposed so getting out and walking in the permitted areas can be chilly if it's windy. Trips are conducted by bus because clearly, as an open range zoo you could end up being lunch for the lions or other carnivores. I was a bit disappointed because the bus was full and with everyone jockeying to get pictures, if the animals were on the opposite of the bus to where one was sitting it because difficult.

Best to go on a day temperature wise, early to mid 20s. Staff friendly, bus ride gets awesome views of the animals that you can't see from the platforms. Tour guide very knowledgeable. Only critique is the first place to view was approx 20-30min walk. Should be closer so everyone is not waiting for a bus straight away.

This is my second time to Monarto Safari Park, this latest visit being after their renovations. This is a wonderful park where you are able to hop on and off the bus to explore for yourself the Park and what it has to offer. The enclosures are large and offer space and natural habitat for the animals. The animals seem content and well looked after. I would definitely like to go back again and do more of the walk and listen to the 'Keeper' educational talks. Do yourself favour and buy the zoo membership pass, I have and it has already paid itself off, while it also supports the Parks and. Zoo.

A great place to visit, we enjoyed it so much we went twice in a week. The guides and bus drivers are very knowledgeable in regards to the animals at the park. The ranger talks are informative and the animals come up close as they sometimes get treats.

Recently visited the newly refurbished Monarto Safari Park with the family (2 adults, 3 kids), as was pleasantly surprised that it only cost $102 for all of us! This is cheaper than the Adelaide Zoo! The new facilities are great, the buses were comfortable, and the volunteers very helpful and knowledgeable. If I had one negative, I would say in order to see everything properly, you need to regularly get off the bus and walk around, and this can be quite tiring (especially with kids), as the walking trails to different exhibits are quite long and there isn't a whole lot of shade, especially in warmer days, while you're walking. Take plenty of water, snacks (just don't eat or drink on the buses) and sunscreen and you'll have a wonderful day. The chimpanzee exhibit is incredible. There are plenty of chimpanzees and they are so amazing and interesting to watch. I could've spent all day just at this one exhibit. The food from the cafe was great and the gift shop had plenty of reasonably priced keepsakes to purchase to remember the day. A relatively cheap, tiring day out for the whole family! We all loved it!!

A very large area to cover but you travel around in a bus with hop on hop off stops at areas where keeper talks etc are taking place. The bus stops at all good viewing areas and some interesting & expert commentary by a guide on each bus. We took the Lion Feed Experience which was just amazing, the keepers knowledge of these animals is so interesting & presented well.

We LOVE the Monarto Safari Park ♥️ Thank you to the staff for all your hard work and efforts in maintaining the park and keeping the animals healthy and happy. It's a fantastic place for long weekend walks - a unique opportunity to recharge your batteries while enjoying the scenic views and connecting with fauna! I recommend walking and only take the bus when you need to. If you are not rushing, then consider you'll need 3-4 hours if walking and not making long stops. There are two cafes but note they close at around 3pm on weekends.

What an unbelievable experience the lion 360° was. We hadn't been to Monarto for 4years so it all looked so different. We paid to feed the lions and we were in awe of the whole experience. All up we stayed from open until 4pm and saw a lot. Would have been better if the weather was nice then we would have walked around more but the bus took us where we needed to go which was great.

Really loved our visit to Monarto Safari park from Victoria yesterday. Due to covid, we couldn’t feed the lions as planned months ago, but the 360 experience was still a lot of fun and quite incredible being so close these magnificent creatures. You can tell all the staff love what they do and shout out to Jasmine, who was incredibly welcoming from the start of day, through to the informative and entertaining bus tour around the park. The food was also amazing and far from what I expected being a zoo. The nachos was very well worth the money! Best zoo food we’ve had. We can’t wait to come back when the hotel is complete and feed the lions 🦁

Amazing place to share with your family and friends. Largest zoo in the southern hemisphere and just the lion pen is large enough to contain all of Adelaide zoo with room to spare. Please support animal conservation, learn about the wildlife that is being destroyed and is miss understood.

Nice well set up zoo and tour. Got to see a good amount of animals even though it was hot out. Would definitely recommend arriving early and doing the walking trails over riding on the bus.. worth the trip!

A very unique experience! About an hour drive from Adelaide but worth a visit. It’s a very different atmosphere to your usual zoo. You head around the safari park in buses and although not exactly like Africa, it is a good attempt. Especially loved the giraffes and the chimps.

  • 5/5 Steve W. 2 years ago on Google
A lovely zoo which is absolutely worth the trip. Friendly staff, nice food, easy to navigate with regular busses or hike around. Great experiences available - the lion 360 is unique and absolutely worth a try

We had a wonderful time. Whilst experiences were closed due to covid, there is still plenty to see an do. The hop on and off buses let you explore the park at yoir own pace. Keepers give informative talks about all the exhibits. Nice cafe for lunch. Oir favourites were the chimps and giraffes. The staff everywhere were wonderful. Cant wait for the new visitor centre and resort to be opened. We will be back.

Big open style zoo. Have to take buses provided. Good collection of exotic wildlife. Could be expensive for big families. But it was a good experience. Plenty of walking trails for those who walk.

We had lovely experience visiting this safari park during weekend. If it’s a proper sunny day, you will definitely love it. The experience and vibes will remind you of being in Africa. My disappointment was not able to see the gangs of lion. It was around 5 pm, They were already kept inside the cell except 2 female lions were outside. If safari staffs would re-schedule this routine for the last visitors of the day, they can also enjoy the experience. Else, the visitors will miss the opportunity. Lots of other visitors were also raising the same concern. Otherwise, overall good experience 👍

Been to the old Monarto zoo, this is a whole new and better experience. Was a windy hot day but was well worth it. Level of care shown towards the animals and the environments for them is impressive.

Amazing experience from start to end. We did the cheetah experience which also included park entrance. The experience was great, getting up close and personal and learning a lot about how these animals are looked after and the conservation efforts for them. The park after that was just as good, with easy to navigate facilities and paths and informative guides on the busses and at the animal talks! Excellent all round.

We came here the other day, and the weather was perfect. We saw many animals, but there were many we couldn't see due to the time of day. Weather also plays a role in how they behave. It was also my first visit to this zoo, and it was my 4-year-old nephew's first visit too. He had the best day of his life, seeing his favorite animals, the giraffes 🦒, and I ended up buying a plush giraffe at the gift shop. The zoo is so large that we couldn't visit all parts of it in one day. We plan to return to this magical place soon.

  • 5/5 Rachele S. 5 months ago on Google

Great tourism and sustainability experience. It's brilliant to see the hard work and genuine passion that is going in to a large range of animal conservation. Plenty of work being done to secure these experiences for our future generations. Clearly signed and soaced out car park. Easy to pre purchase or buy at the time tickets. Multiple experiences available. Some exciting accommodation coming soon as well! On site Cafe is expensive. You hope it's going back to the animals but not sure.

  • 5/5 Laura W. 6 months ago on Google
What an amazing day! I HIGHY RECOMMEND doing the animal experiences. We did the rhino, giraffe and 360 lion. Unfortunately the lions didn't come up to the cage but Monarto zoo re booked us and gave us free zoo access. Seeing the animals in large open spaces was fantastic such a great life for them. I'm 1000% going back and do the giraffe experience again! It is worth spending the extra money! Tour of behind public access was good and informative! Can't wait for the 3 elephants to have their new happier lives at Monarto soon and very much looking forward to staying at the still being built Monarto hotel! A must see for young or old!

Incredible Safari Park in South Australia close to the Murray River. Hectares of land with the wildlife Giraffe 🦒 lions 🦁 cheetahs rhinoceros Antelope etc roaming free. Air-conditioned coaches drive you to each stop and collect you at each point of the park . A very knowledgeable guide is on board. A hotel will allow guests to sleep outside under the stars in safari tents ⛺️ near these amazing wild animals. An incredible day out.
