I haven't been here in over 20 years but the kids and I enjoyed our time. Most of the animals were lively and visible. There was enough variety for the kids to enjoy the whole experience. This was their first zoo trip and there were enough places to see and it wasn't too much of a walk for them. My son enjoyed all the dinosaurs that they put all over the zoo. Seeing him in awe over the very large scale reptiles was enough for him.

It was a good experience. It was a nice walk to see all the animals. I especially liked looking at the Red Panda. I enjoyed watching the new kids movie about the Red Panda. All the animals look like they had a good amount of space in there living area. Good selection of food and snacks. Need more sitting benches. It was a Great day with my boyfriends family.

First time exploring the Sac Zoo, and very much enjoyed it! So cool to see a Orangutans, Lioness, Jaguar, Snow Leopard, Cheatahs, Red Pandas, White Rhino, Okapi, Giraffes, Otters, Capybara, Meerkats, Kangaroos, Flamingos, Lemurs, Squirrel Monkeys, and so many birds and reptiles. The zoo has a map at the front, so take a picture of it before you go. There's no paper maps. There's a café that's pretty decent quality, but despite the crowd, the line moves pretty well! There is a gift shop that runs specials. The only difficulty is parking, but seemed to go pretty smoothly for us...maybe we lucked in to it.

Good amount of animals, the snow leopard was my favorite. Easy to get around the zoo. The gift shop had a lot of different items. We also went, at night, to the UNEXTINCT experience, it was fantastic. I highly recommend it!

This was a great smaller zoo with lots of natural flora and fauna that lines the paths and enclosures. We got there right at opening so all the animals we being fed while it was cool. Really a nice variety of animals. Lots of benches and a play area for younger kids. Our family did the Animal Ambassador along with the Hooves and Horns behind the scenes tour. Both were amazing and involved endangered animals. The tours behind the scenes are a must! Chris and Jennifer were wonderful to work with to get both tours done. Would recommend it to anyone whom has a love for animals! Tip: Order tickets ahead to save a few bucks.

Great place to take kids - seems a lot smaller to me as an adult. You have to book your tickets online and pick a time because of Covid. Walking around the zoo is very easy - all paved and minimal elevation gain. Lots of bathrooms. Food is available - so is beer - which makes the parents less likely to feed their children to the lions...

My family and I have lived in Sac for 3 1/2 years and we have never had a chance to make it out to the zoo so it was really great to finally get to see it! It was small compared to the Houston zoo we had growing up but it definitely didn’t disappoint. We went on a cooler day and in the AM hours so the animals were active. We walked into the park to Monkeys screaming and a lion roaring which was cool!! I believe they are expanding it over the next few years so that will be a pretty awesome thing. Overall the park was clean and we would definitely go back!

Sacramento Zoo is a great place to go! It’s typically not very crowded, and has a good assortment of animals to enjoy for a smaller zoo. Come towards zoo feeding time and you will be sure to experience seeing most of the animals out in their pens. I’ve been coming to this zoo since I was a young child and it hasn’t changed much, which I like. Fairy Tail Town and William Land Park are right across the street. Bring your kids or grandkids here for a fun day!

Always a joy to visit this zoo. I've lived in the are most of my life and was able to share the experience with out of town family. Purchased tickets online and skipped the line. The cheetah exhibit is where I remember the kangaroos being, they must have done that fairly recently. The cafe has a vegetarian option, but I was told that it's wasn't too good. The chicken sandwich and the Peruvian chocolate brownie was good though! Lots of seating available, and a well stocked gift shop. A definite must-see if you're visiting the area!

Very impressed with the quality of this zoo. This is a perfect place to take younger children. Lot of activities for them and the grounds aren’t too expansive to wear them out. Animals were all healthy and interactive. The grounds were clean and comfortable. Lots of shade and places to sit and take breaks. The surrounding area of the zoo was in a really nice part of town. Will definitely go back and recommend.

We went Saturday, November 4th for the first time. It was a ton of fun! We're two adults with no children, and still had a blast. Due to the avian flu, most of the birds aren't out on display. The flamingos had just been moved into an enclosed space that was recently vacated. You can also purchase alcohol drinks and walk around the zoo with them, which was a pleasant surprise. We were allowed to bring in water and snacks. One note, because a woman in front of us was incredibly rude to the employee working, they don't give out straws. This seemed pretty normal to us, straws and animals don't mix, but she was very displeased. So, bring your own metal straw if that's a concern of yours.

It's such a cool and near place to explore.. I arrived at 9:30 am. I would suggest arriving after 11 am. When the animals are up and fully awake. The morning was a bit cooler. There are so many different varieties of animals to see. I little train ride it a must do.

It was awesome to see my kids's faces when we saw the animals. The kids had a blast and so did I. It was just what we needed to get out during this pandemic. I am do glad the zoo is opened and am going to become a family member and take the kids more often. Thank you Sacramento zoo!

The zoo opened as the 4.2-acre (1.7 ha) "William Land Park Zoo" on June 2, 1927, with 40 animals brought together from various local parks, including monkeys, raccoons, birds, and deer. In 1948, the Sacramento Union Newspaper sponsored a drive to raise money to buy the zoo an elephant. In the fall of 1949, SUE (the “Sacramento Union Elephant”), so named by local teenage sisters Jacklyn and Carolyn Bolton via a contest sponsored by the Union, arrived at the zoo, much to the delight of area visitors. In 1955, the zoo bought “Winky”, Sue’s companion. The Sacramento Zoological Society formed in 1958 to support and raise funds for the zoo as city funding began to dwindle. The year 1958 also brought along the start of the zoo’s educational programming, at that time, one of only nine zoos in the United States to have such a program. In 1997, the society took over day-to-day operation of the zoo. The zoo was expanded to 14.3 acres (5.8 ha) in the early 1960s, with new habitats built in most areas of the zoo. In 1965, the zoo received its first grizzly bear and two orangutans, and began charging 25 cents for admission. The current name was adopted in 1970, along with the completion of the reptile house and the creation of a docent program.

Went in the morning hours as well as being my first time visit. It's ok, but just a plain walk in the park with a small simple zoo and few animals. Nothing fancy but that's fine, can't complain. But don't expect a real adventure or experience like the other zoos in Southern California. It's just that I'm from Southern California and I'm used to better zoos and you really can't compare with the World Famous San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Park or even LA Zoo for that matter. Those are much better. Pics are from Sacramento Zoo.

Lovely local zoo resides at the Oakland hill! The zoo has low floor and high floor, which is connected by the sky tram. From the sky tram you can see the whole San Francisco bay. That is the most attractive sightseeing from this Zoo! The zoo doesn't have many animals, but it is great for a family for a day trip. We came here on the first day of 2022. We had a great family time here! We will come back definitely.

Bought tickets online for Mother’s Day, and it was a great day! It probably took four adults about two hours to get through the whole zoo, including stopping to sit down for a pretzel. It’s well-kept, and animals look well cared for as well. Would recommend!

It's a nice zoo. Small and quaint. Nice to be able to get outside, walk around the zoo, and enjoy the sunny weather. My husband and I don't have children, but this zoo has many areas where children can let out their energy and excitement as they see the various animals. The gift shop had beautiful wooden ornaments. We try to find an ornament at each place we visit to commemorate the adventure. The zoo's gift shop had several to choose from, and they were all beautiful. We weren't there very long, but we did pack snacks in case we needed a snack. Luckily, reinforcements weren't needed this time. Hope you enjoy your visit.

First 5 put in an installment of dinosaurs- they occasionally move & make noises, together with the animals it was delightful for young & older people to enjoy. Due to Avian flu, some of the birds are not on display. They had cheetahs, a lioness, a red panda, many birds, reptiles & amphibians, a white rhinoceros, giraffes, Okapi, zebras, lemurs & orangutans, etc. They had tasty food; 2 of us split pot roast in BBQ sauce & fries, they have pizza, Korean food- that looked delicious, burgers & ice cream & many drink choices. You can also bring a picnic. There is a small train & a play area. We just saw animals, dinosaurs & enjoyed carousel ride!

I had a great time!! I fed a giraffe it was so much fun and very cool. I rode a small kids train with my niece. The ride was great, and the young lady driving it was super sweet. The zoo also had awesome dinasours that moved and made sounds around the park. The animals were so beautiful to see. I love going to this zoo when visiting the area, and getting to enjoy it for the 1st time with my 3 year old niece was AMAZING. I would definitely recommend going if in the area!! I would also love to mention how nice the staff is...Great job!

We loved every minute of our membership year here. I love the keeper chats that teach you the names and personalities of all the animals. Highly recommend this zoo and getting a membership. The meerkat behind the scenes is also very fun!

Great local albeit small zoo in South Sacramento. Very manageable zoo for families and kids of all ages. Had a great time here seeing the different animals from giraffes to the entire reptile house! Zoo is quite friendly for families, can take strollers and coolers inside for whatever you need. Recommend going in to mornings to beat the crowds and heat in hotter months. Excited to see if they can find a new bigger place to relocate.

Not much of a zoo experience to be honest with you. It was decent, but nothing worth getting excited over. The zoo itself is pretty small, and you can walk the entire thing and see everything in a just an hour or less. A few animal exhibits were just closed, built in a way where viewing the animals was not easy or not possible when they went to certain angles, or in a few cases only had a single animal of the type there. Mostly all of the stands and extra areas were closed and the entire reptile house was closed as well. The scenery was really nice though, but i couldn't help but just feel like the zoo was very cheap all around. All in all, it's a place where you can go to walk around, that's about it.

I love zoos. They are a bridge that can help introduce young people to wildlife and the immeasurable value they have for our planet. I have had many unforgettable experiences at zoos, but what the Sacramento Zoo offers is nothing short of magical. The habitats are beautiful, the redwoods add to the mystique of the place, and the Okapi experience is wow! They’ve created a beautiful space in the city where fantasy comes to life, while ensuring the animals are provided healthy engagement and key in on their wellness and wellbeing. I highly recommend.

We really like this zoo because it is just the right size for our 4 and 6 year old. Not too big, that they get exhausted walking around and not too small that we get through it in 20 mins. They really enjoyed seeing all the animals especially the lions who were pretty active when we got there. There is a small playground there now that our kids really enjoyed and they were able to play and have snack time there. It wasn't crowded at all and we went on a weekday.

Wonderful family experience. Picnic area near the carousel. Animals are clean, well cared for and look happy. Staff was wonderfully nice and shared knowledge of the animals with us. Food is available at snack bar or restaurant. We were able to bring sandwiches and drinks but also enjoyed the snack bar.

I really enjoyed visiting this zoo. The atmosphere here is extremely pleasant and relaxing. In this zoo, I saw animals that I had not seen before in other zoos in other countries. There are many places to sit in cozy places, and there is also an opportunity to buy food and drinks without leaving the zoo. The most interesting animals are certainly giraffes! The ticket is not expensive, there are discounts for children and teenagers. I recommend!

It is a good place for kids~ very family-friendly. A little on the small side of scale, but you do get to see some interesting animals~ my husband and I actually got to see the alligator being fed, I think they normally have a show around 11am. We also got to see a lion getting his teeth checked by the vet! It was pretty cool~

Cute zoo with beautiful landscaping. It is pretty small and easily walkable in a 1/2 day. (It's well paved and fairly flat so it's easily wheelchair accessible.) There is a playground area within the zoo and food is available. They rent double strollers and wheelchairs for about $15. At the time of this review they had a really cool dinosaur exhibit put up through the zoo. Many of the dinosaurs are huge and move and make sounds. They were a hit with the kids. The main negative is that it very expensive unless you buy season passes. Parking can also be difficult, especially on weekends. The best time to come for both parking and animal viewing is right when they open at 9am.

Good place to visit if you are with kids. Parking was difficult to find close by. Once you are inside take a picture of the map. I suggest you should get in line to feed the giraffes (10am-11am), you can purchase 2 lettuce leafs for $5. You can see a lot of animals but unfortunately we could not see the chimpanzee, orangutans, red pandas and flamingos. One of my favorites was the reptile exhibit.

Help this awesome zoo as much as you can! The zoo has a great mission, and ambitious plans. Without our support, their dreams of a larger, more functional and impactful zoo may not come true. And they just delivered an amazing Orangutan baby Nangka! Not withholding the other youngsters. Keep up the good work Sac Zoo!!!

I was here for a wedding as the photographer! It was an amazing experience for me. Staff was on point! (normally, as the photographer, I'm time managing for the bride and keeping things on track) it was a smooth experience and a pleasant one. Staff were a joy to work with! I will be suggesting this venue from now on! On a personal level... I was so happy to be back home and in a familiar childhood favorite place. The Sac Zoo will always hold a place in my heart, and even more so now that I've had an amazing adult experience as well! Thanks guys. 💗

I really enjoyed this cute, little Zoo. There was a good variety of animals. The animals were pretty active. Some of the big cats weren't visible the first time I went around but because it's not a huge zoo I was able to double back and saw them when they were more visible. The zoo was impeccably clean and well maintained.

So glad that the zoo is open again. I know they have been struggling to feed the animals while being closed. We were fortunate enough to visit this past weekend. Everyone was wearing masks and it was not crowded when we went at 10:30 am so it was easy to socially distance. They limit the number of people into the gift shop. I saw some animals for the 1st time like the squirrel monkeys, the alligators, the okapi and the meerkats. Such a Sacramento treasure.

Nice zoo on the small side. Feeding the giraffes is one of the best parts of the entire zoo. I appreciate their attempts to upgrade exhibits and have young child oriented activities. Many of the animals can be tough to see, especially during the day in the summer when it's hot. Staff has always been helpful.

Sacramento Zoo is a small non-profit zoo. Although it is small and doesn't have a huge assortment of animals the facilities are always clean and the staff always knowledgeable and friendly. There is a fair amount of outreach and education the zoo provides as well. Its smaller size is a benefit in many way as it is has a more intimate feel and at the right times you can see the animals up close without throngs of people smashed against you. Great place for families with younger kids, and they seem to be trying to expand and grow as the greater Sacramento region grows around it.

A really fun time, very family friendly, lots of places to sit down and chill out and many pathways that make it easy to navigate the Sac zoo and also safely, socially distance from others. Masks are required. Bathrooms are public and scattered throughout, and the zoo itself has gift shops, and places to eat as well. If you're looking for something to do and see some really incredible animals, this is the place.

Our fun ZOO experience exceeded all of our expectations at the Sacramento Zoo. This Zoo is small, but yet intimately set up for your visitors to really get a close encounter with all the animals that they have on exhibit. All the pens and enclosures for all the animals were extremely clean, tons of natural vegetation for the animals to hide and sleep. There was a bunch of zoo employees constantly around helping to guide you with your questions in regards to the animals that they do have on exhibit. They have wonderful play structure for the kids to play on. We spent a few hours there and truly enjoyed ourselves.

It was fun and some cool animals. The kids where able to feed a giraffe. They had a bunch of animatronic dinasours that the kids loved. Food was very expensive and only had a couple food options at the snack stations, they had hotdogs or nachos. Wish they had easier snacks like corn dogs, pizza, or chicken strips. The Restaurant had a line out the door so we didn't go, ended up eating in town. Overall fun zoo with lots to look at and cool animals. Only animals they didn't have that the kids wanted to see where an elephant and penguins.

Great zoo that keeps improving. Busy holiday, but still not overwhelmingly crowded. Lots of interactive fun for kids, without being too intrusive to the animals. Playful river otters! Gorgeous snow leopards! Exciting giraffe-feeding opportunities (if you're patient enough)! Somewhat odd fake dinosaurs! And you get to meet awesome primates like Pablo, who doesn't like drama (some of the other chimpanzees are, I assume, 'here to win' and 'not here to make friends.' 😆).

Good place for the family and animal lover. We went there during the weekend of April, it was busy but not too crowded. Place is not that big and probably good for 1 to 2 hours to walk around inside the zoo. They have different kind of motion dinosaurs all over the place for taking pictures and information. They have restrooms, restaurants, playgrounds for kids, and some small rides for kids and gift shops for souvenir. There's plenty of parking outside the zoo, and it's free. It's fun and informative 👍 👍

Had a lot of fun. Concessions were a little pricey but there is a play area for small children where you can rest and relax for a bit. A decent variety of animals and activities to enjoy. Next the zoo there is a couple other parks with rides and plenty of grass fields to hang out in. Parking can be difficult if you go late in the day. Overall was a good experience for the kids.

We went to the zoo over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to see the animatronic dinosaur statues all over the zoo, my daughters loved them! We thought the australia exhibit was in a better spot and enjoyed seeing the kangaroos, zebra, giraffe, rhino, pretty much immediately! Disappointed to see that the chimpanzee /gorilla exhibit weren’t there anymore. Some small monkeys and a shy orangutan who didn’t come out of the shelter. Also, no flamingos, just a murky marsh. The playground was clean. The train car driving through a crowded area left me puzzled and on high alert. Can there be a painted train track or lane on the ground? It’s alarming that the train can drive through a crowd relying only on Disney songs playing on a loop to alert you. In addition, would love if more staff were present to engage with children and animals, to educate and play. Just a thought!

For a city the size of Sacramento, this zoo is high quality and has a varied amount of high end exhibits. The habitats are nice and of a good size. The stand outs for us were the exotics, such as the giraffes, lions, zebras, and jaguars. The new alligator habitat is great. One suggestion: Being in California, some "local" animals like bear, elk, and mountain goat could be a nice addition. I can't wait til they open more up (some encounters and attractions are closed due to Covid). But even with the temporary closures, we had plenty to see for our 3 hour visit. Lots of shade makes it easy to walk around in the heat. Very kid friendly, good for all ages. Stroller friendly. We plan on becoming members since 3 visits in a year makes it worth it, and it should be a good option for us to come down from Tahoe in the winter.

What a great way to spend our morning! Not the biggest zoo but it is a great way to get out with the family. We bought the combo tickets so we could go to fairytale town after. They don’t have a whole lot of animals but they do have a decent amount. Everyone that works here seems to be very friendly and willing to help with anything you need. It doesn’t take too long to get through the entire zoo. I think we spent maybe a little over one hour here then made our way across the street. We did come early though. We were in line as soon as they opened. By the time we left the line was all the way to the street. There was barely anyone inside while we were there. Could be why we weren’t there for long 🤔. Anyways, they do have a couple lions and a jaguar. But not much that is very “big” in that sense. All in all I was satisfied with our visit and would definitely come back when my son gets a bit older so he can enjoy it too. My daughter loved it! I will recommend.

We’ve come to this zoo 20+ times in the last year and a half; always accompanied by my service dog. Today we went and walked around for about a half hour before we were stopped by someone who worked there. She told us they don’t allow dogs there. I proceeded to tell her that he was my service dog and she said they don’t allow dogs of any kind. I told her we bring him all the time and that I could show her my documentation. She told me that if I had my dog in here previously that I must have snuck him in and I was going to have to leave. My dog is always in the wagon with my son. I don’t have to “sneak” him anywhere and by law what they just did was illegal. Will be reporting this incident.

I had a wonderful time. Staff was very helpful and knew what they were talkint about. You can tell they really care. My only problem was paying 8 dollars for two 20 oz bottles of water.... Other than that 👍

What a wonderful place! I’ve lived in the Bay Area my entire life and didn’t even know Sacramento had a zoo. It’s a small zoo compared to Oakland or San Francisco but, it was fantastic. If you love animals, definitely visit. I was impressed with the timed, ticketed entry and it’s very Covid safe. My son (7) and I had a great time. We will definitely come back some day. Also, there is a giraffe feeding experience at 10am and 2pm that is worth checking out too. It’s also next to a lovely park, golf coarse and Fairytale Town.

I am disapointed because, I wish they have more animal to see, no elephants and most of the animales lives in very small cages and mostly all the time they are inside, where people can't see them, food expensive, gifts and everything cost lot of money. but my kids love the new baby giraffe and for the firs time we see the lions.

  • 1/5 MR roblox w. 3 years ago on Google
Horrible zoo. The price is way too high for a small amount of animals you get to see and there mostly monkeys and birds. There was NO leopards, tigers, bears, wolves or the reptile habitat. It was insulting actually. Tho animal we got to see the most was squirrels and for that I can see them at my house.

  • 5/5 Lucy A. 3 years ago on Google
Nice and small zoo, perfect for a half day trip with kids. They have many animals in a very good shape, even when they dont have so much space the dont look stressed. The place is always clean no weird smells. Because of covid you’ll need a previous reservation on their page, all people follow security guidelines and wears mask. You can also look on the web for the feeding time of some animals and go to feed the giraffe for an extra fee.

We had so much fun here! My boyfriend and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. We went on a thursday morning around 10:30AM. I think it’s best to go early so you can catch them when they’re feeding the animals. We saw pretty much all of the exhibits! We printed the map online and I think some of them were moved but for the most part it was pretty easy to follow. It took a couple hours to see everything and that’s including us stopping for a few minutes at each animal and taking pictures. We weren’t as tired as we thought we would be by the end. The gift shop had some funky colors for shirts/sweaters. I wanted to get a neutral color like black/grey but they only had dark blue. Smallest size in adults is a men’s small. They have a “feed the giraffes” experience for $5 a person at 10AM & 2PM which we missed but still got pretty close to the giraffes! We didn’t stop at the restaurant in there but we did pass by and it smelled great!

Nowhere on the website does it say that they only have limited capacity for people to be at the facility. So here is your heads up to let you know call and check this make sure that all the tickets were sold out before you take an hour and a half drive up to Sacramento zoo to get turned around that you can't go. /Although we ended up having a beautiful wonderful day at wonderland and they little amusement park there at the facility in that area amazing day today.

Pretty good amount of animals for a small zoo. My kids love it but its not like it was when i was a kid. The zoo did go threw alot of upgrades throughout the years so it's more modern. Cool things you can do their are you can feed the giraffes(for a small fee), Your kids can go on a train ride or ride the zoo's carousel with tickets you can purchase at the Ticket stand. The cafe has a good amount of food options for the family or you can just bring something from home and have a picnic by the play structure. The zoo also has a Ice crem stand and gift shop with a variety of toys and souvenirs.

Very lovely place to go in Sacramento when you're visiting I've been going since I was very young and the staff are really welcome the animals are all very well taking care of and the location is amazing it's also next to two other very lovely day trip places fairytale Town and funderland the cafe at the zoo is very delicious as well I would definitely suggest the french fries or the nachos and if you plan to returning the future to visit definitely pick up one of their lovely souvenir cups as long as you have it free refills for life the gift shop is very nice too and has lots of souvenirs that really connect you to the animals and the zoo itself five stars for me ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

We had a nice time however many animals were not there. Prices seemed to have gone up my advise is buy days in advance the price are lower if you buy advance.

  • 4/5 Alex M. 2 years ago on Google
The carousel was a nice touch, but at least one time, on the house, with purchasing of tickets on line seemed highly appropriate. We still had fun.. would've liked to see bears as well..When I was younger there were polar bears, and penguins. Also, my son and grand-daughter really enjoyed the dinosaurs 🦕 and the animatronicks.

  • 4/5 Joyffree 2 years ago on Google
The dinosaurs 🦕 were such a great addition. My granddaughter (18 mo) just loved them. We went early so a lot of the animals were still being tended or just plain didn't feel like hanging out in the cold. Despite that she still had a blast as did the adults. The giraffe feeding doesn't open till 10 which is about when things get busy. There is a full service restraunt, gift shops, strollers you can rent, restrooms, snack cart offering 😋 sweet treats. There is also a train that will take you thorough the zoo and a carousel 🎠 There is also a playground *quite large for being in the zoo and picnic areas

  • 5/5 Giselle V. 1 year ago on Google
This was my first time visiting the zoo and I really enjoyed it! It was a pretty hot day but seeing all of the different animals was worth it! I was surprised at the amount of diversity that this zoo had. My favorite part was seeing the giraffes. They were the cutest and the best part. It was a nice little day trip :)

  • 5/5 Aimee T. 1 year ago on Google
We really enjoyed our visit here. The layout was nice with lots of lush plants and trees and well designed with bathrooms and snack/drink stands conveniently placed throughout the park. It is pricey, but the gift shop had a ton of great souvenirs for the kids. They gave a train that runs every 6 minutes and a carousel with tons of animals to choose from. I did think the lion could have been given more room, that enclosure seemed really small. Overall we had a great time and right next to the zoo is fairytale land and Adventureland (I think is what it is called) so there were other fun things to do just steps away. Overall a fun filled day and our 4 year old who is obsessed with animals had a great time!

  • 3/5 Isela A. 11 months ago on Google
This zoo is depressing! I’ve been there on different seasons in hopes of getting a different experience, but no luck. You will sporadically find animals, they are not all out. We’ll at least not the big ones you expect to see. I only have it three stars because my kid ran around and got tired, so it helped in that area and as a mom that’s a plus. Would I go there again? Probably not. Would I recommend it? No.

  • 5/5 A. B. 8 months ago on Google
I love this zoo, soooooo much shady areas!! I didn’t feel too hot at all when we walked around there on 4th July! It was very greenery, I hope they already planted lots of trees in their new/future location!!

  • 1/5 Amberlyn T. 8 months ago on Google
Wish they had more like the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. An open safari African Adventure, Sea Lion Cove, Stingray Bay, Tropical Rainforest, etc. It was disappointing moving here and seeing how much smaller this zoo is and how little they have compared to the Fresno zoo. All the animal habitats are small as well, the animals look depressed… not a good zoo at all. I’ll attach pics of the Fresno zoo’s attractions that I mentioned, they’re breathtaking. If you have a chance to visit Fresno visit their zoo. This zoo is nothing compared to it. Do better Sac zoo, this was disappointing and sad.

Took our 8 month old here in a wagon, we were able to bring our own drinks and food in. The Cafe was a bit pricey but cool on the hot day. They offer a nursing room for mothers and babies who need it and also have changing tables. Feeding the giraffes was a super fun cool experience! Would definitely recommend

For some reason, I thought that the zoo was going to be bigger and more busy, but it was nearly empty, and almost all of the animals were hiding from the sun. They did have a dinosaur experience going on that was a little more exciting to see than the animals. Overall it was an okay experience.

  • 5/5 Ingrid M. 5 months ago on Google
Both my 7yr old and 1 1/2 year old loved it. It was a nice surprise to find out they had dinosaurs there. My one year old fell in love with all of them (that was his favorite part). The food was good and decently priced.

It was a good visit,......not a lot of animals.... But they did have dinosaurs 🦕🦖... All thru the zoo... Pretty cool if you ask me.... Again animal's not a great variety BUT the animals did look happy and well taken care of. Would definitely recommend this place. O yeah the price is way too much especially for the kid's.

Great zoo! Excellent experience on a Sunday morning, not too busy and most animals were out and about. Loved Mae Lynn the Two-toed Sloth as well as the hawk-faced parrot. Meerkats and the river otter were also favorites. They also have almost every big cat you would want to see here.

I'm legally blind so I need assistance walking around and it was extremely easy to walk all throughout the park! If you have a membership you can avoid the line even though the line was not long at all that Sunday we went and moved quite quickly! Lots of fun for the family! A little sad there was no lion or at least we didn't see it but there was a lioness! Some animals I've never even heard of before so it was such a great learning experience!
