Shame on you Shoalhaven Zoo, this is not the first time with an incident with your animals, you cannot put down these lions for their reaction to the zoo keeper involved, get your safety measures in place NOW!!!!!!

I loved that unlike other zoos this one is not over crowded, a vast number of animals and a beautiful location next to the lake. The place itself needs a bit of pampering, but the animals seem very happy and well looked after. All the staff was friendly and the reptile show was educative and fun.

A great place to take the family. There are lots of animals to see and nice food in the cafe. Next door is treetop adventure which you can also do while in the area.

This was our second visit to Shoalhaven zoo. Such a great regional zoo. We saw lizards, koalas, crocodiles and lions among many others. Really great keeper shows also. The cafe has a great range of food and drinks. Highly recommended.

We were so lucky to find this place. No one around us knew this place and I wasn’t so sure about it. It was amazing! Not too big and not too small for my kids, the age btw 5 and 10yo. The entry fee was reasonable plus we were able to use discovery vouchers. Some of parts were under construction but still a lot to see. It will be even more fun for tree top adventurers.

Lovely family zoo. Make the effort to attend one of the animal shows so you get an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the animals.....touch, hold and even have personal photos with the animals for $10 each animal or $30 for photos with 4 different animals. We had family photos with a baby alligator, koala, python snake and a small possum.

Terrific hands on experience. Even without purchasing one of the experiences there are many opportunities to pat and play with a number of the fury, feathered and scaly residents. We did go a little further and purchased the monkey experience. It was terrific. Those little guys are great fun, although the zoo almost most lost one star for not letting us keep a monkey...

Wow! So close to everything. I've never been closer to a lion (kinda scary). The staff were amazing and the food was great. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

This is anice zoo situated on shoalhaven river. The road in is a little small, going to 1.5 lanes at the end section which was a little scary with a mini bus coming thevither way. There are lots of peacocks roaming everywhere, including the car park. It is a smaller zoo but really nice layout and you can either go through quickly or just stroll. There are a few animals i havent seen in other zoos, and even the price is a little high for the size, you know the money is going to maintain the zoo so you dont mind. The only drawback was the bison were quite a way off from the other animals and it can get quite hot in summer. The cafe food was okay but not too high priced and of course you have to enter and exit via the gift shop making it hard not to buy anything for your children. Overall, i recommend going a few times if you love animals.

Good place to take the kids to. Nice area down by the Shoalhaven River in amongst the bush landscape. Lots of native animals to see aswell as lions, buffalos, camels, crocodiles, an assortment of reptiles and many others. Smaller children might like the petting zoo area that houses farm animals, rabbits and chicks. Peacocks also move around the grounds freely. There's a cafe to eat from and also a gift shop. The covered bbq area is also popular for birthday parties as it's located near the giant slide. Ive taken away one star because the path ways are very rugged and rough and it was hard in certain areas to move around with a pram.

Great little private zoo built into the natural landscape surrounding it. Good set up for a family with smaller kids like mine (we have a 3 year old), and you could get around taking your time in a couple of hours. Would have been good to see a bit more info about the animals around the place. Highlight for us was the kangaroo enclosure!

Such a lovely zoo, had such an incredible time. Staff was so lovely and all the animals are so sweet and interesting. Their enclosures give them plenty of room while also allowing an unobstructed view for guests. A lovely place for people of all ages!

Picturesque, easy to navigate zoo with a fair variety of animals from around the world and domestically. Keepers were very passionate and were keen to share their knowledge and encourage guest participation during the regular shows. The zoo also has a modern Cafe and gift shop. There is a Treetops course in the zoo that looked fun as well as adventure trails that we did not have time to attempt. A great value family day out 🐒🐎🐖🐨

This is a treetops adventure and zoo park, but we just went to the zoo for our visit. It is small/medium sized, family owned zoo providing an amazing sanctuary for a collection of about 30 different types of animals, including monkeys, meerkats, lions and camels. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and from the moment we entered we just felt like we were in some sort of magical land, especially with the peacocks walking everywhere. We had such a wonderful time here and if there isn’t already a fan page for Harry the Carella, we think he certainly needs one!!

This was a great experience, up close with the animals. Staff explained things for kid's & they were allowed to touch the kola & ring tail possum. Now the grandchildren are telling stories to friends & family about the crocodile feeding, lions roaring etc. Would recommend it to all to visit

1 adult, 13 year old and an 11 year old. The best zoo I have visited! I have to admit that sometimes a visit out with the kids can be stressful. This however, felt like a win win for both kids and I. The zoo is set in the most stunning natural rainforest and rock facades. Immediately we were greeted by wandering peacocks. My eldest (who wasn’t keen) ended up begging to stay once he met the last monkey section. He was already making friends with the goats, horse and pigs in the petting zoo but became mesmerized by this little cutie trying to break open the nut we gave him. Fascinating! We walked through the rainforest trails as well! So many Animals to see up close, many wandering around. Lots of babies around - baby mouse, chicks, birds, bunnies, kids and fish were spotted! I loved it so much, that I’m heading back again. The wombat burrows were my all time favorite. So amazed to be cm’s from them! Well done! This is a very special zoo!

What a great Zoo. Such beautiful surroundings for the many animals. Wonderful koala, snake and lizard encounter. But make sure you take plenty of $1 coins to feed the tiny monkeys a nut. The zoo is situated in a very beautiful and natural setting. The adventure park next door looks fantastic. We had a great time here.

For a small town zoo, Shoalhaven Zoo is excellent! There is a lot more personality and thought put into exhibits than your typical big city zoo. I loved the wombat mines especially! The birds were beautiful and the exhibits encompass the surrounding nature rather than just cuts through it. I've never seen an alligator turtle anywhere else in Australia and the farm yard was great. The staff had excellent knowledge of their animals and were extremely entertaining when they conducted their shows. I will be coming back here without a doubt!

An amazing zoo to visit to pass 1-2 hours easy! A great spot for the whole family, a great cafe and spot for babies/toddlers to play and be secure. The zoo also had a decent amount of animals to see and touch. Highly recommend this zoo!

Amazing!! My son and I loved it. The instructors Ella and Joe were great and so friendly and helpful. They made my son, who was a bit wary of heights (9 years old) feel so at ease and completed stages of the course I don't think he would have if they weren't there. Check in was so easy as well as we had booked online. We will definitely be going again.

Great day out with kids one of our daughters is in a wheelchair only places we couldn't go was on a couple of walking tracks and the Emu and Kangaroos this was a bit disappointing as we are from New Zealand and the Kangaroos were a main want to see for us.There was a broken catch in the toilets, they did have mobility toilet though so that was good. Staff were great and u can get photos and up close encounters with lots of the animals , park could do with a bit of tidy up paint job and general maintenance. All in all a Awesome day out and the kids loved it especially the big slide or slippery dip and the Aussies would say.

Great zoo to visit in an amazing landscape. Has a Bar and Cafe overlooking the Shoalhaven river with beautiful views. The Macaw Parrots say "Hello" to you and the Corella parrot mimics the peacock's call. Great place for families. We went for a bush walk through the Hangingrock track and it was great to see all the high hanging bolders and huge tropical trees and bush. Will be back.

Wasn't happy with the way the female owner treated us, Within the car park. Was made to move my car 3 times. She made it known she was the owner. VERY RUDE!! Animals Enclosures are way to small, Animals look sedated. My heart Honestly broke for the crocodile. Honestly don't look like they are getting the care they deserve!! Other then that was a great day with the family.

An especially perfect zoo for kids as it's very hands-on and interactive. Unfortunately the shows and slide etc. were closed due to covid when we were there, but my little ones still had a blast. The barnyard was our favourite with the chickens and geese and turkeys running around our feet going nuts and the pigs and sheep carrying on making noise... such a fun day for the kids.

  • 4/5 Sangchan Y. 3 years ago on Google
(Translated by Google) It's not a big zoo, but you can see some of Australia's leading animals, such as kangaroos, koalas, and dingos, and even touch them. There are not many types, but it has its own assortment, so it is worth visiting as a local outing. Turkey, wallabies, peacocks, etc., move around, and it's great to be able to interact with animals closer.

Great day out with the family. We combined with tree adventures (on site but independent) for a full day. We spent the morning looking at the animals and doing the walks. My family really enjoyed being able to be so close to the animals. A Wallaroo jumped out to greet us and enjoyed being patted and fed. There are two bush walks which shows how well the zoo has embraced the cliffs it is built on. One walk was medium. The other an adventure through caves and on ladders. My kids were thrilled. We had lunch over looking the river. After lunch we did the tree adventures. Then as we left the park at the end of the day we sat mesmerised by the capucian monkeys. A good day had by all.

At the front entrance there is a green tree python which is dehydrated, stuck shed, underweight, and laying on the ground. Crocodile needs a bigger pool, and it's filthy you can't even see him. The male lions in the first cage look underweight. That dashhound shouldn't be with the llamba and it barks because it doesn't like it. Horses, sheep, need more space with grass and hay. It's not nice to see them on dirt with no food and I didn't see any water in the horses shoe box.

A great little zoo for kids and grown ups needing something to do down the coast when it's not beach weather or you're looking for something a little different to do. They have lions and meerkats which are pretty awesome, but the best part is you get to feed a lot of the animals for $2 a bag for the food. Would recommend going in the middle of the day while schools on so there isn't any crouds.

A fantastic little zoo lots to see and well looked after animals that all look healthy and happy, Kids love the petting zoo and feeding the animals. Good Covid precautions at entry but after that non-existent, most sanitisers were empty and lots of crowds, I feel they are letting too many people in the current situation (31 Dec 2020). Otherwise it’s awesome and we will return in future

It's a smaller zoo but the location is simply enchanting, the cafe looks over the river and there are still plenty of animals. A good size for families with small kids and seniors who cannot do a lot of walking; some ground is uneven, particularly up where the lions are but it is still mostly accessible and there is opportunity to interact with the farm animals. Thank you for having us!

We just did the tree climbing part, not the zoo. I thought it would be lame but my wife talked me into it and it was pretty fun. The harness system they use is dummy proof so they can let you go off by yourself and you can virtually do your own thing. The hardest route has a couple of obstacles that are genuinely really hard, in fact one of them I would say is near impossible, I think they put it in for a laugh. I only gave 4 stars as I thought it could have been a bit cheaper.

It's been a while since I've been to this zoo and it seems they have put their efforts into the tree adventure ropes course at the expense of the zoo animals. The animals and their enclosures were looking pretty tired, which is a shame because it's a great venue. Still worth a visit.

Awesome place !! Wife & kids loved it.

Used to be a great place with native animals everywhere and magical rainforest walks, the rainforest have been destroyed to give way to noisy zip lines and the animal enclosures seem small and barren, quite depressing really.

Our family loves visiting, so glad to still have something great to do in the area when there are not many things left. Great experience wandering around seeing and learning about all the different animals

Beautiful place kids love it but the food takes a while to cook and they don’t have a lot of animals like other zoos but it’s still very good

    I like it.

What a superb location! The banks of the majestic Shoalhaven River. Well worth a visit. Friendly staff. Lunch at the Cafe, overlooking the river, is a treat. The coffee is good. The prices are very reasonable.

Awesome experiences! We were lucky enough to feed the Meerkats, Marmoset and Lions. The staff are very friendly and patient, the food was also delicious! Highly recommended 👍👍👍

Great fun on the zipline for our 8 yr old son who is on the Autism spectrum. The staff were sensitive to his needs and supportive, thank you so much. He had a blast and wants to come back soon.

Covid has stopped some shows. Hope to return when things get back to normal and I can gauge it fully. Lovely setting.

Animals looked sad and price a bit steep

Such a lovely location. We also had some new interesting interactions with the animals. We all really enjoyed our visit. Size is perfect for toddlers. If you have older kids, check out when the tree adventure activities are running, looks like lots of fun.

Kids loved the interactive feeding of the wallabies and farmyard animals. The goats, sheep, horse and chickens love being hand fed. Lots of shaded open space to have a sit down lunch or beat the heat of the day. Positioned right on the shaolhaven river.

Absolutely incredible experience My partner and I went for the VIP Experience package, I was initially nervous about it all but it paid off massively From the staff at the front counter being very welcoming and helpful to the guide ,Alicia , who took us on our experience. It was an experience of a lifetime we got to hold a big beautiful wombat, feed and have an encounter with marmoset monkeys climbing all over us including the 2 new baby’s all the way to holding reptiles and feeding meerkats and of course lions A truly amazing experience for all I will for sure come back when I have kids or want to have a relaxing day with amazing animals Thank you to all the staff for making our experience amazing

Easy and accessable cafe with fun and enjoyable animals.

  • 5/5 Phillip A. 2 years ago on Google
Very nice place to visit. Nice cafe. The zoo is small, however I believe you can spent more time with the animals compared to other zoo's

  • 1/5 B A. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely horrible. The animals are in small, old, unkept enclosures. Even the farm animals were so dependant on the feeding it became impossible to let a child do it. Crocodiles in a tiny space, a lot of distressed animal behaviour. A desolate place. I am writing this review so hopefully others can see and NOT go. The positive reviews absolutely confuse me. This place shouldn’t exist, don’t make the mistake of supporting it.

Great place for the whole family. The farm yard was great.

It's worth visiting. There are many farm animals, including baby animals. There is a cute kangaroo too.

  • 5/5 Yvonne R. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely, hands down the best day we've ever had. We booked a VIP experience and we were not disappointed. Alicia, our personal keeper, made sure we spent plenty of time with all the animals, Marmasets, Meerkats, Wombats, Maned Wolves, Saltwater croc, Boa constrictor and of course the kings of the zoo the mighty lions. We were treated like royalty and never rushed. Worth every single penny. Thanks Shoalhaven Zoo thank you Alicia

Small zoo. But good for smaller kids, as they would love to feed the animals at the farm section.

  • 1/5 Matt P. 2 years ago on Google
Rude staff. We were going to the tree tops climbing and they share facilities with the zoo. While exiting the toilet our 5 year old stepped less than 1 meter into the zoo area and the staff shouted at her. So rude. We then went for a visit to the zoo and it was horrible. Animals in tiny cages. The crocodile tank was so small it could barely move. Shipping containers and half built cars lying around. Animals looked sad. Absolute dump. Avoid!

Great little zoo with all the requisite Aus animals a tourist needs to see! More non-natives than I remember from my last visit 15 yrs ago, including lions and meerkats.

  • 5/5 Genevieve D. 2 years ago on Google
Such a personal and educational experience. We saw the Furry Friends Show, Reptile Show, and the Crocodile Show. All the zoo keepers knew so much and were very entertaining, even as an adult I learnt so much. Will definitely return here if I have little ones. Thank you the Shoalhaven zoo team, you guys are the best!

Compact zoo with a decent selection of animals on display. Don’t miss the inland Taipan and the lions. There are a few peacocks running around which the kids will love to see and enjoy.

  • 5/5 Ick F. 1 year ago on Google
Friendly and welcoming, a small zoo that makes up for it with amazing staff who seem genuinely interested and caring for the animals. Filled with a handful of fun bush tracks to explore.

  • 5/5 Laura W. 2 years ago on Google
If you like feeding and interacting with kangaroos this is the place. The peacocks are not to be missed. Friendly customer service, picnic areas available.

It's a great place to visit if you're looking for a great day out, lots to see and do for the kids and animal shows throughout the day, it could be hard to find so best use maps to get there, but well worth the trip, there's a shop there for food and can bring food as well because the store's are bit of drive if you want something different, the older kids would enjoy the tree top adventure and everyone will enjoy feeding the animals 😀

Great zoo with friendly and informative staff, easy to get around and lots of interesting animals. Particularly loved the lions, the monkeys (And the option to feed them a nut through the little dispenser) and watching them crack it open, as well as the petting zoo (baby bunnies) and the meerkats. We were fortunate enough to see the keepers feeding, cleaning and interacting with the animals. All the animals appeared to be relaxed, clean and well cared for with big open spaces. The kids had an amazing time.

We did the VIP experience and it was amazing. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Every single animal encounter exceeded our expectations. This experience is a must and worth every cent!

Had a great day out, enjoyed the stroll around the zoo. Watched the lions being fed, felt a koala and participated in a meerkat experience. Nice little Cafe and when we went (Sunday afternoon) plenty of parking.

Came here with all my Niece's & nephew's during the school Holidays. Loved the Reptile show & Lion show they had. You can purchase animal feed to feed the animals they have here. Loved interacting with the animals & not bad pricing as well. I think I paid $30 something for entry & didn't regret it at all.

Worst Zoo I have ever been too. The animals look so miserable and sad. The poor horse was in a tiny pen for a horse that size. The goats and sheep were starving. The crocodile’s tank was filthy. The bbq area needs some work, you can definitely tell this zoo gets no renovations. Save your money and don’t go! They need a visit from animal welfare.
