Do not be deterred by the entrance. To the right of the door at No.11 use the top left intercom buzzer. Once inside, absolutely fabulous !! I love that the owner lives in the apartment and has decorated home with the collection, which is elegant in its own way. You get an intro tour and can then wander the rooms. I have no problem with paying an entry fee, a lot goes into this and you get personal guiding. Highly recommended. #stanzealgenio

Must visit when in Palermo. The museum is in a private residence. A private collection, wonderfully displayed in a stunning property. Every entry comes with a tour. Around 8 euros entry. The tour guides are really engaging and passionate about the subject. Walking through the history of tile making in Italy through the centuries. This is such a unexpected and delightful discovery. Please visit. Its amazing. Entry is at set times. The museum is open 10 - 1230 and 4-8.

The visit is guided and you can ask anything about the tiles. The collection is astonishing and the visit very informative. Highly recommended. The entrance is not clearly signed, you have to ring a bell - it is situated in the private apartment. Also in the flat live for cats - it may be useful information in case you have allergy.

This gem of a place is a true highlight of any visit to Palermo. A stunning collection of Sicilian and Southern Italian tiles in a lavish apartment with period furniture and collectibles. I stayed for an hour after the tour to take in all this resplendence. The entrance is a bit hard to find. The lighting is very good. There are five delightful cats in the property.

If you are reading this, book your visit right now. It is the widest and richest collection of tiles I've ever seen, with pieces coming from the 16th century. The staff - Claudio in or case - is knowledgeable, kind and fluent in English, and will address you questions after showing you the collection stressing some unique pieces. Not to be missed.

It’s a must see if you visit Palermo, a hidden gem in the city. Memorable collection of a broad variety of tiles and very knowledgeable guide (also in english!). Worth spending some time here, it feels like a completely different world in the best sense.

AMAZING. Only weird part- it's in a private apartment, so there's no obvious entrance. Just ring the labelled bell! Also it was 10€, in case you also can't find a price online. The short hours are cause the collector still lives there btw. Crazy knowledgeable staff! They start you out with a concise tour of the whole thing. You can ask them about any piece and they'll tell you all about it- it's really fascinating! Especially after travelling through Morocco, Portugal, and Spain too- we had a lot of questions about tiles haha, and they could answer everything!

Amazing private collection of artisan tiles from Napoli & Sicily displayed in the owner’s home (hence the abbreviated opening hours). One of the coolest things I saw in Palermo. Recommend.

This is a must see!!! The Museum was recommended to me by a local as the “Number 1 place see.” I thought, how can tiles be interesting? Well, they are incredibly interesting and beautiful. The Museum has quirky opening days/hours. Come just a few minutes before opening time so you don’t miss the beginning of the tour. There’s a door buzzer (think visiting your friend in a Chicago high rise). Just buzz and go up. Our tour was in (great) English. What surprised me the most were the tiles produced during the 1850’s that could easily pass for Dada or even Art Deco. The vast collection of tiles include those from the 1400’s through the late 19th century.

Great museum with a nice guided tour. However one star, for the outrageous treatment we received after staying on the terrace. We stayed at the B&B and we asked if we could stay and work from there until 2.30pm and we were told that is not a problem. Than during our work (conference call) we were yelled at by the cleaning staff. The owner called us during our video conference to say they will call the police if we don’t leave. We are traveling a lot but something like this has never happened to us and we were scared and sad to see such behavior. I am usually not vindictive, but in this case I wish the owner and the cleaners personally that they will experience a similar treatment in their life.

Great museum if you are interested in mosaics, very unusual set up: the owner of the collection is actually still leaving there. We had our tour in english, guided tour lasts about 20 mn then you have 20 mn to walk around to appreciate the artwork. Cost is 9 EUR, we pre booked by email. You can pay by card or cash. As previously mentioned in other posts, you need to ring the top left bell to access it, it s on the second floor of the building.

Such a beautiful little museum - the tour from Claudio was really interesting and he was very friendly and considerate. Would highly recommend visiting! We messaged a few hours in advance to reserve, and they replied instantly. One of our highlights in Palermo!

This is such a cool private museum to see. The owner still lives there and so the opening hours are quite short, but it’s definitely worth the detour. There is no sign outside, so the place can be a bit hard to find. We simply followed Google Map instructions to get there and looked at the door numbers to find the place. You have to ring at the door to access the main building. We really enjoyed learning more about the ceramic tiles displayed there, the cats were a big bonus!

One of my top favorite independent museums, well curated, the tour guide was very generous with his time and information. People who are passionate about patterns, arts and interior design would probably enjoy and appreciate it the most. It's a hidden gem of Palermo and an actual home to the owner therefore make sure you check the tour timing before you visit.

a must see when visiting Palermo - you need to call in advance to confirm the opening hours. They offer guided tours in English and Italian. Imagining this is a private collection of tiles it’s just amazing… they are so beautiful. Thank YOU for sharing it with us 🥰

A must if you love tiles. Hard to find. Look for a small brown wooden door under the scaffold. Might need to ring an apartment buzzer near the door.

This place is amazing!!! There is no sign on the door. Walk through the wood doors. Once inside on the right there is a stairway. Take the stairs on the right up one flight. Best tour ever!!!!

Delightful and unusual Museum. There are many rooms, and the tour is guided to give you an insight into the different styles. Very interesting indeed.

reservation is a must. You can call to make an appointment. the immense collection of tiles can be viewed in a Palazzo. Due to work on the facade of the building it is currently difficult to find the entrance... but what a revelation! after a thorough explanation you have time to admire all the rooms that are literally filled with the most beautiful majolicas at your own pace. put this on your To Do list.

I can not believe I never visited this place during earlier visits in Palermo. The tiles are beautiful, and the guided tour offers a lot of information. I never knew it was so much to learn about why and how people hundreds of years ago picked the patterns for their floors.

Well worth to visit this great little exhibition. History of floor tiles from 1700s onward from Naples and Sicily. Although considered a 'minor' art at the time, the craftmanship was incredible. The guided tour gives you a real good insight on the how and why.

From the outside this museum is hard to distinguish from the surrounding buildings. There are 8 rooms filled with very nice majolicas. You can only visit the museum in small groups, the guided tour takes about 30 minutes. Unfortunately the didn't have english booklets. Worth to visit.

Stunning collection of tiles. The guided tour is a must. A great insight into the history and culture of tile production in Naples and Sicily. Entrance is tricky to find, ask in local shops if you can't find it.

This museum is very cool! It's a private residence that allows three guided tours per day and has very beautiful tiles on display. Our guide spoke very good English and was passionate about the history of tiles both for Italy and for Sicily. The detail and variety of tiles is stunning and inspiring.
