I had a great experience with Dr. O'Brien. I had skin cancer on my ear and Dr. O'Brien performed surgery to remove it. The surgery was performed on the day that there was a mobile lab at his office and Dr. O was able to test tissue samples on the spot to ensure all the cancer was removed. Dr. O'Brien not only removed the cancer but did a fantastic job with the appearance of my ear such that one would never even notice any evidence of a surgical procedure. I look great and am cancer free. Many thanks to Dr. O'Brien and his terrific staff. Highly recommended for any type of procedure. Absolutely first class!

I have been a patient of Dr. O'Brien for approximately 8 + years. I cannot say enough about Dr. O'Brien and his entire staff. His specialty? "I want all my patients to have a natural and refreshed appearance and don’t want them to look ‘operated on’ in any way." And that is where he shines. I have always been one of the patients who said "I don't want to look any different, just fresh and rested." And toward that endeavor, he has performed a wide range of procedures that have taken years off of my appearance in the most natural looking way possible; most painless or with a totally tolerable modicum of discomfort. In addition, he introduced me, through his expert staff, to skin care routines that have my complexion looking and feeling healthier than it was in my 20's and 30's. The proof is in the compliments I frequently receive about my skin. Not bad for a girl who spent her teens in the dermatologist's office for acne and other skin related conditions. And I started my skin care at 50! Plastic surgery today need not be as invasive as it once was to achieve the desired outcome. Dr. Obrien offers a vast array of procedures, many of which are minimally invasive or noninvasive. The key is his procedural expertise. As a nurse, I may be more discriminating than some and he never fails to deliver. I have recommended friends and acquaintances to him with absolute confidence that they will be as pleased as I have been over the years. Not the first plastic surgeon I consulted with but the one I choose and I would recommend him to anyone. Had some cancer on my face and he and his office were terrific.

This dr’s office wins the award of the worst managed, hands down. Contacted them to inquire about a procedure and they replied few days later stating there is a $100 consult fee. I replied and waited 3-4 days, no one got back. Then, 2 days later, I got a call from a different assistant who transferred me to Erin’s desk where I had to leave a voicemail. A full 10 days later, no one called back. I sent an email to her, to which she replied that she assumed the other lady assisted me (why do you have an answering machine?), and apologized. I replied asking a question about the consult fee in case the dr recommends something else. 5 days later, no response. I am kind of ready to get a procedure done, and all I know is that it’s been delayed due to pure negligence. So now I’m turning to another doctor. Now imagine if you get a procedure done at Dr O’Brien’s and no one gets back to you for a more serious matter.... as for the consult fee, I have never seen a surgeon charge $100 to get your business. Pure greed and lack of professionalism.

Dr. O’Brien and his team are kind, knowledgeable and professional. I have nothing but good to say about the office and the people. My surgery was affordable, the after care was excellent the follow up encouraging. I’ve also started seeing the Esthetician, Dana. She is gentle, skilled, and super helpful. She knows her equipment and products well. She’s made excellent suggestions when I was interested in new skincare, she had samples I could try (I’m really weird about textures of products) I’m so happy with her recommendations.

I had both a timmy tuck and breast implantation replacement and uplifting. I am sure that is not the technical terms, but you get the picture. I was back at my desk able to work within 4 weeks. The scaring in so minimal considering what was done and removing all the stretch marks and rolls of fat and skin I expected a scar. Dr. O'Brien put the scar far enough below the belly button that it is easily covered by bikini cut clothing. The staff is very friendly and considerate. They talk to me and welcome me by name. The surgery was remarkably easy and they advised, anticipated and made sure I had as pain free a recovery as was possible. I definitely recommend Dr O'Brien for anyone desiring to look and feel better about yourself. To feel confident in your clothes and to feel better about yourself when you look in your mirror.

5 stars is definitely not enough for such an amazing surgery center. I cannot stress how happy I am with my decision to go with Dr. O’Brien for my breast augmentation!! I had met with many other plastic surgeons and each and everyone of them seemed very self-absorbed and would tell me exactly what they had planned for my breasts without even asking me FIRST what I would like and I was not a fan of that. Before making my consultation, I spoke a lot on the phone and emailed back and forth with Erin Blackburn, who is an absolute sweetheart, and she helped me out by answering all the questions I had for her. They fit me in for a consultation fairly quick, compared to other surgeons in the area, and I fell in love with the atmosphere! Not only was Dr. O’Brien very helpful in answering my surgery-related questions, but he genuinely wanted to know what I wanted so that he could provide that for me. He informed me of many different approaches to breast augmentations and explained to me the pros and cons of each one and told me his opinion on how I should proceed but also encouraged me to research on my own since it is a decision that affects MY body and not his. I felt heard when so speaking with him. He was not self-absorbed AT ALL, which is rare in surgeons. Not only was he amazing, but so is his staff! Everyone is so nice and welcoming and makes you feel and more excited about your upcoming procedure. They respond so quickly and are always on top of everything. One other thing that I liked about this location is that they accept Care Credit- for the deposit AND the surgery itself, which definitely helps a lot financially. I just recently got my breast augmentation done by Dr. O’Brien and the day I saw the results, I was in shock. They were everything I had ever wanted and more. Most people don’t like the look of their breasts directly after surgery because it takes a few weeks to a few months for the breasts to fall and look more natural, but I loved them a day after.. so I can’t even imagine how much I’ll love them in a few more weeks or months. I just want to thank Dr. O’Brien and his staff once again for giving me a wonderful experience and a pair of tatas that I will love forever!! My confidence has boosted dramatically since my procedure and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

I would just like to let Dr. John J O'Brien know that his office staff that answers the phone are highly unprofessional. I called because I wanted to make an appointment for a breast reconstruction consult. I made 3 calls in total to his offices yesterday 10/21/19. Call #1 The woman who answered the phone was chewing her food while trying to speak to me. I was then told that he doctor doesn't take my insurance. I told her that was ok I can go out of network for the right doctor. She insisted that she could not get Bay Front Hospital to admit me or schedule a procedure without the doctor being in network . I called both Bay Front (thinking that this must be the hospital the doctor was accredited too) as well as my insurance company and they both told me she was incorrect, I called her back in between these calls to let her know, She sad she didn't want me to waste my money on a consult Call #3 to her, She states the doctor no longer does breast reconstruction. I told her that the doctor should probably correct his website and remove the page that states that he does, What a waste of time and energy with the rudest person imaginable. Don't bother calling this office if you are in need of a breast reconstruction after having a Mastectomy. Apparently he is too busy to correct this website and his employees. - Update I received a call from this Doctors office with a sincere apology, but not from the woman I spoke with yesterday. This doctor does do breast reconstruction for women who have had a mastectomy and does not utilize Bay Front as a surgeon, so I have no idea why the woman even brought it up yesterday and why she told me to call them. I never told her which hospitals are under my plan. Which is almost every Hospital in the area. The women that answers the phone also told me she does the insurance processing, if that's the case is is still a hard no from me. How will she would handle my billing if she does not even know what procedures or which hospitals the Doctor practices? I appreciate the apology, I have corrected my post.

My wife recently had Dr. O'Brien perform a tummy tuck for her. We both felt he was very professional and has a great bedside manner! He and his staff are very helpful and walked us through the procedure step by step, making us both comfortable with choosing him and his staff. They are ALL extremely friendly and have been very very helpful both before and after the procedure. We would both highly recommend him to anyone looking to have anything done! Dr. OBrien and his staff are the best. Dr. OBien was confident and knowledgeable during my consultation which put me at ease. I had a facelift, upper and lower eyelids, fat grafting and laser resurfacing. I was apprehensive because it was my face. My husband was also concerned I would not look the same. All fears have been put to rest. I am five months out from the procedures and am very happy with the results. I've been seeing Dana for facials and love them. I will not go anywhere else. Dr O'Brien and his team are nothing short of spectacular. I had a sizable melanoma on my nose and was obviously concerned for my life. He and his team took the time to explain the situation and the potential outcomes. He removed the melanoma and reconstructed my nose. I am now cancer free thanks to the dedication and expertise of Dr O'Brien! As a bonus, with his reconstructive excellence, you can barely tell that I had 2/3's of my nose removed and reconstructed. Good as new! I would highly recommend his office for cosmetic excellence.

My experience with Dr. O’Brien and his office has been more than excellent. Prior to my consultation, I did my research and found Dr. O’Brien is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which means he is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. Finding a doctor that was a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon was the most important qualification as I started my quest for breast augmentation. I read through Dr. O’Brien’s website and felt that this was a surgeon I should schedule a consultation with. If you are thinking about having any work done, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. O’Brien. He is an amazing surgeon. He listens to what you want, looks at the pictures you bring him, and truly cares that his work is art. Don’t sell yourself short going to another doctor that might give you larger implants than you want, or thinking they know you better than you know yourself. Dr. O’Brien is the real deal. His office staff (Kristen, Jenn, Katie, Becky) are absolutely amazing. In fact, I told a friend that if it wasn’t weird I would have asked them to have a drink with me sometime because they are that friendly! If I have any additional work done I promise you I will be going back to Dr. O’Brien.

I live in Brandon and been looking all over the place to find a surgeon with top skills...you know what I'm talking about if you are looking through google reviews of other surgeons in the area, you will always find one or two reviews that are not so great and I'm very careful when it comes to my face. I would not go to anybody else but him!

Absolutely LOVE this office!!!! The PA Mary does my Dysport injections and she does an amazing job. She is very conscious of being conservative with it so I get the look that I want. I also get spa procedures done here with their esthetician, Dana. The Hydrafacial leaves your skin glowing right after!! She also does dermaplaning on my face, which I never had done, but I will definitely continue to do with her. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about what they do. I recommend this office to anyone who is looking for cosmetic needs! FIVE stars all the way!

I can’t recommend this practice enough! Everyone from the back office staff, to the esthetician, to the PA and doctor are so kind and take such great care of you. I have gotten a few hydrafacials with Dana the esthetician and they are not only relaxing but also very effective. I have also gotten some dermaplaning done and love that it’s a quick add on but helps all my serums and skin care really soak in. The best part about Dana is that she really takes the time to understand your skin goals and adjusts your treatments to make sure everything is aligned. The PA Mary has done my Botox over the past year, over four treatments with varying units between the brows and on my forehead. I like to have expression in my face and not look too “done” or “frozen” and she helps me achieve the perfect look. I still have slight movement in my brows and show expression but without any wrinkling. People always say to me “you don’t need Botox!” so I know that means it’s working exactly as I want it to! I trust Mary completely - she is a perfectionist and cares about giving me the outcome I am looking for, which is so important for someone you are trusting with your face! The staff is so amazing, whether it’s squeezing me in for a last minute appointment or helping me figure out the best treatment plans, they always have a smile and a helpful attitude. I love this practice and can’t imagine going anywhere else for my treatments!

I am no stranger to plastic surgery, and have had several procedures done on my body over many years, both invasive and non-invasive (breast reduction, augmentation, liposuction, botox, coolsculpting, etc.), but I was afraid to do anything to my face. I'd had an accident in my 20s that left one eyebrow much lower than the other, and my eyelids both looked heavy, prompting people to ask me all the time if I was tired. I started looking into what I could do to improve the tired appearance and level out my eyebrows in November 2018. I met with Dr. O'Brien as part of that, and he made several suggestions about what I could do, such as a brow lift and upper blepharoplasty, but he also did not pressure me to do anything. In addition, I asked about ultherapy, another non-invasive treatment. Dr. O explained that I was not a candidate for the treatment because I have a pacemaker, and he would not even consider it (which I respect and appreciate). So I stuck with Botox for the time. I did look into a few other local surgeons in St. Pete. I was frustrated that their websites lacked information about the most modern ways to perform the procedures, and when I tried to reach out to some of them, I either could not get through, didn't get a response, or if I did get a response, it was like I was an inconvenience. It was no question that I was going back to talk to Dr. O'Brien. My husband had been very against my doing anything to my face, and when I told him I was considering the brow lift and blepharoplasty suggested by Dr. O'Brien, he agreed to at least come with me to the 2nd consult (mostly to try to talk me out of it). Once we got there, Dr. O explained the entire process to both of us, and answered all the questions my husband had. One of our concerns was that I would look overdone or have that "duck face" look. Dr O'Brien explained how I would really look like myself, just more awake with better symmetry, and that is exactly what happened. I had a brow lift and upper blepharoplasty in his beautiful and comfortable surgical center in St Pete. I had laser resurfacing at the same time, and my skin looks beautiful. The follow-up care with Dr. O'Brien and his staff was spectacular. They are all so friendly and welcoming, and they entire staff works together to make sure I can maintain my results. I strongly recommend Dr. O'Brien to anyone who is considering a plastic surgery procedure.

You are attended to by the nurses and doctors from the moment you enter the door. My recent browlift and upper blepf was painless and a week after surgery I can be out in public. At 60, I look 20 years younger. The staff also deserves high praise; they are great.

Just be aware that whoever answers the phone makes booking an appointment unnecessarily stressful. EDIT: 1 star review because ever since I wrote this review, this place started charging me $150 MORE for my injections. If you have a lot of money to waste because the staff here wants to be vindictive, suit yourself, but there are other doctors and professionals in St Pete who will respect you and your bank account wayyy better than here.

I had questions about mommy makeover. I love the doctor and Mary but the administration staff is extremely rude and unfriendly. I live over an hour away I’m trying to ensure the best options for health and care wise. Due to the behavior of the staff I will take my business elsewhere to another double board certified surgeon.

We couldnt ask for better experience !! My husband and I had Liposuction in Abdomen, waist and hip area with Dr.O'brien. He is excellent in every possible way. Although he has a great knowledge and experience, he. always seeking for new techniques and technology to create best result for his patients.
