Very cool to see. There are two ways to walk up — do not do the straight shot up, it’s VERY steep and scary! Had the place to ourselves the whole time.

Beautiful castle ruins nestled between mountain tops. Be warned, there is a good 1km uphill winding hike to the entrance so make sure you have suitable shoes. We also did this before going to Dervish House (monastry) which meant not walking in the midday sun. (for those visiting in summer months).

Great place to visit. You can walk around and imagine how people use to live. Lot of work has been done in last couple of years on restoration but even more needs to be done in near future. Path to castle is maintained. Could be better but I guess it needs a lot of effort. Not demanding climb though. Parking place below. Seems easy and fast to climb but it takes some time must admit. Anyway, great to visit. I would recommend..

Excellent place to visit. You can park car in Blagaj and then walk a little bit more than 2km, or you can drive even further (paved, but narrow road) and then walk around 1km.

Monumental fortress pretty much preserved. Beautiful view from the fortress on river valley and surrounding areas. Parking lot on the East side and 30 minutes hike to the place. Unfortunately a plaque or signs explaining the details and the history of the place is missing.

This place is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise and more recognition. First off, the location is like something out of a dream: An ancient fortress nestled against a towering cliff, overlooking a crystal-clear river and a vast valley below. Getting here is a bit of a hike and the pathway is not great but the views alone are worth the trip. The panoramic vistas are simply breathtaking. This fortress has been standing strong since the 9th century, and you can sense the stories and legends that surround it. It's a remarkable edifice with a rich history. Unfortunately, there are no signs or explanations of the architecture or history, so you should do a bit of research in advance or bring a local guide to fully appreciate it. There are no tickets and the site is open to visitors 24/7

Blagaj Fortress or Old Town of Blagaj (Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian: Stari grad Blagaj, Serbo-Croatian Cyrillic: Стари Град Благај; pronounced [blaːgaj]), locally known as Stjepan-grad (Стјепан-град), or Stipan-grad, in classical times Bona (Бона), is a town-fortress complex near the town of Blagaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The old Blagaj Fort was built on a high, inaccessible karst hill, at an elevation of 310 metres (1,020 ft) above sea level and 266 metres (873 ft) above the source of the river Buna. Blagaj Fort is 275 metres (902 ft) above sea level.[2]

Nice castle. Need to leave car under the hill. Walk is ok, can be somewhat difficult for some people.

Drive all the way to the dirt parking lot below the castle ruins and walk up to get lovely views and a good historical experience ❤️

Beautiful view point over Blagaj! Can be combined with a Via Ferrata tour by Eco Center Blagaj where you take off at the campsite, go up the mountain by Ferrata and then hike to the castle and back. Would recommend!
