Himalayan Nature Park in Kufri offers a captivating escape into the pristine beauty of the Himalayas. The diverse flora and fauna, coupled with well-maintained trails, create an immersive experience for nature enthusiasts. The park's conservation efforts are commendable, contributing to the preservation of the region's biodiversity. The picturesque landscapes and panoramic views make it a must-visit destination for those seeking tranquility and a deep connection with nature. There's a small Market situated near the Park from where you could buy fancy items but a little costly. Entry fee in zoo Rs.50 per person. And nearby there is this "Chini Bungalow" also one of the prime attractions in Kufri. This bungalow is flocked with lots of visitors throughout the time and this bungalow has been converted into a cafe called lalit's cafe. The staff here is rude, don't attend you properly and food here is also not good.

A zoo that is so minimal. There are hardly any animals. 3 bears, 2 leopards, deer, and a few birds. That is the content within. And they charge Rs 50 at the entry. The campus is so badly maintained, and the animals look so tired. One can easily finish the visit in 30 minutes.

Kufri zoo is an underrated gem of Shimla. It's beautifully maintained and the trail of the zoo is just picturesque. The animals are few as some of them are resting or grazing but you can easily spot them. Take your time and walk slowly enjoying the trail and forest. A ticket is charged for entry for about 50 rupees but it is worthwhile. Try visiting when it's recently snowed , as the beauty increases tenfold. A beautiful experience in all.

It's very best and beautiful park in shimla. After reaching the final height of this temple, saw the beautiful view of the surrounding. Species of birds found in different parts of the country can also be seen in it. To take admission in this, you have to take a ticket of ₹ 50. It starts at 10:00 am. closes at 5:00 pm. Or many types of trees, plants and herbs are also available, which you can also see.

The place is awesome. You should try a horse ride as it is so much fun. There are so many activities there. Horse ride- 500 per person. After taking a horse ride you'll go up you'll find a small market you can also have food there you can avoid booking a jeep as you can go for activities walking but it's too tiring. Old people should book a jeep. There are activities like rope climbing. Jeep ride- 500 per person

Such an underrated place in kufri. I would definitely recommend to have a visit once. You would fine some amazing animal and view over there. People takes "khacchar" to go on top to see some snow and play. While you can see all the things here. Just have a visit once. You won't Regret !

Such a calm n cozy place. If you are nature and animal lover, you would have great time here. There are very few species but all have some unique features and qualities. The main attraction is brown bear and leopards. You can spend 1-2 hours and have fun with friends/family.

Awesome place. You must visit atleast once. If you have your own vehicle then you can easily reach there. You have to go to kufri and ask for kufri zoo. Any one of the local people will tell you the location. It's at very high location. If you have your own vehicle then you don't have to worry. But if you don't have, then don't think about climbing. You will reach very tired there if you go there by feet. So book a car there. You can easily get a car there after walking some steps. That will be very convenient. But ask the driver about the fair. Because they will quarrel with you if don't disclose the amount of fair before riding.

Kufri Himalayan Nature Park Kufri, popularly known as ‘Kufri Zoo’ spread across an area of 13.73 Ha was established in 1992. Prior to setting up the Nature Park, part of the present area of the park used to be the Musk Deer Farm since 1965. In the year 1996, it was recognized as ‘Himalayan Nature Park Kufri’ in the category of Small Zoo by the Central Zoo Authority of India. The Kufri Zoo is unique for being the Highest Altitude Zoo in India at a height of 2700 m above mean sea level. They have a small museum but it is amazing. You need to take good care of your belongings as there are lot of monkeys roaming around you. Number of animals are less however they are kept in good condition. Wear proper woolen clothes as it is cool. You can do photography at few places. You require one hour for the visit.

Kufri, located at a distance of 20km from the main city of Shimla, is a popular tourist destination known for its skii slopes, Kufri Zoo and as starting point of treks. Founded by the British in 1819, Kufri became an important tourist destination in the last few years. The main tourist part of Kufri is located on Mahasu peak at a height of 2,720 metres above sea level and travellers have to either hike or take a pony from the parking lot to reach Kufri. Mahasu Peak and Fagu Valley are the main attractions in Kufri but are accessible via pony ride. Once you reach the top after a pony ride, you would want to enjoy your time playing with snow or clicking photographs. There are a few photo points and the view makes up for the climb.

I have seen this zoo 3 times but this time it is the best due to snow. You see the pics and decide but I suggest that if you are in shimla you must visit this zoo once specifically in winter. They should add more animals and birds to make it more attractive.

This is another point of attraction in Kufri. Though this Nature Park has limited number of animals which are being kept as per the local climate conditions. Mostly you will find variety of deers, sambhar etc. We couldn't find bear but enjoyed the sighting of leopards. The best season to visit this park is summers.

You should make zoo more lively rather than keeping it boring. Silence is necessary for these places but enjoyment is what this zoo is for ... No colourful items or props are there just u have to walk on the path and see the few animals (Pov- not upto expectations)

Better than anything else is to walk in the nature. This place gives that opportunity. Unlike those city zoos where animals look worn out and the atmosphere has pollution, here one is very close to the nature.

I recently visited here. It's a great and must place to visit. Have seen so many himalyan animals like leopard, gidha, deer, bear etc. leopard and bear are the 2 very interesting animals to watch. It also provides you the opportunity to walk around and spend time in a jungle-like environment. Parking is easy and entry was also easy. Charges for adults were 50 /- per person, but it's totally worth visiting here.

Beautiful place to spend time with family and loved ones. Enclosures are pretty neat and so many animals to show your kids. We visited with our toddler. It was her first experience to a zoo. Had a great time, only downside were some loud visitors, other than that a day spent well.

Nice place to visit atleast once. One of the peak in shimla. Horse ride is the major event here. But when its crowded, looks very messy. Traffic arrangements are poor. Can be streamlined better during season time. Parking areas are not much. Small roads. Roads are slippery even for vehicles during winter due to snow forms a glassy surface. Basic drivers struggles to pass through. There is a national park. During snow time that was the only place with less crowd and very nice to spend time there.

This zoo it is not having many animals which attracts tourists generally you can visit here if you don't know how to spend your time . You have nearly 10 different type of big animal and nearly 20 type of small animal it is completely boring to visit this zoo because there is nothing new living things here it is generally same animal which you see in zoo which is located in plains . I think government should take initiative to bring more cold habitat animals here

Camera charges are 50 rupees.

Situated about 18 km from Shimla, at over 2,600 metres altitude, the Himalayan Nature Park is located amidst 90 hectares of temperate vegetation that forms natural habitat for many a wild animals of the Western Himalaya. The main vegetation of the Nature Park comprises Fir- Spruce and Oak formations with scattered presence of Deodar-Blue Pine-Holly clusters. The area remains under snow for about three months from late December to March. The spring heralds the sprouting of many herbaceous species including primulas, potentillas, geraniums, balsams, and ground orchids that continue to bloom in succession till September adding much colour to the verdant surroundings. Walkways in the Nature Park help the visitors to appreciate Nature in its most serene self. While inside the Nature Park, one can also enjoy, on a clear day, a breathtaking view of the entire range of Himalaya’s snow clad peaks. The natural habitat of the Nature Park has been used to house selected Himalayan animal species primarily for the purpose of education of visitors. However, the animal enclosures here are big enough to provide opportunity to the wild animals to be in near natural habitat. The animals are given opportunity to relax after morning meal behind a shrub or a large boulder (leopard) or even to hibernate (brown bear) during winter. The visitors would, therefore, need to spend time, as they would have spent to sight these animals in the wild, in the Nature Park to better appreciate the Himalayan fauna here. Other attractive animals in the Nature Park include Musk Deer, Bharal, Black Bear, Tibetan Wolf, Leopard Cat, Sambhar, Ghoral, Barking Deer, Monal, White Crested Kaleej and Cheer pheasant. Limited camping facilities within the park and facilities for guided treks, especially for student groups, are available. Himalayan Nature Park (HNP) Eco-tourism Society has been set up to manage tourism in the Nature Park.

I loved this Zoo in Kufri, Shimla. It's located 1.5hr away from Shimla. Main attraction is Bear & Leopards.

  • 5/5 Sarajuddin 2 years ago on Google
Perfect to visit with kids. Main attractions are Leopards, Bears and Deers

  • 4/5 Shubhnay J. 2 years ago on Google
Experience was good Animals are in good care and have space to roam around, better than visiting caged animal zoo, clean and hygienic place Information regarding flora and fauna both are mentioned in various places

If you visited shimla just to see natural beaty, then it is the place for you. Very relaxing. 5 Leopards, 2 Brown Bear, 2 vultures, & other herbivores here. Must visit for nature lovers.

Very Nice place to be at, it's basically a dear park which has leopard and bear as well. If you are going with friends or family, it's a good place to be at and enjoy. The only thing I hated is about the people who keep teasing and irritate the animals for mo reason

  • 4/5 Bidisha B. 2 years ago on Google
Number of animals are very less. In few places they cant be seen. A mini zoo replica opens at first. Entry fee is 50 per person. Route map needs to be improved. It shows incorrect measurements inside the zoo

If you planning to go for Shimla, then this is a fantastic place (which is situated in Kufri) to enjoy for Childrens, Younger.. there is some plans (couple/single) with paid tickets. Must go and enjoy in peak season..😊

Small zoo you can try in kufri. Not many animals here leopards and brown bear are the main attraction. Leopardess is very agressive and charged at us multiple times. Male leopard is quite huge a d beautiful. Brown bears looked tired and exhausted in summer. Hope food is given in timely manner and proper care of animals is done. Enclosures are not in good position and bad for photography. You can spend 2 hours approx here. Entry ticket 50 rs.

Nice to visit after snowfall. It's a major snowfall location of Shimla. Almost every spot covered with thick snow in winters. You can have fun in snow some snow adventure games and hawkers will be there. Natural rich green regional plants and flowers and a small zoo if you visit in summers and a shopping market.

Very nice and able to visit Nature park. Brown Bear, Leopard and Himalayan Vulture are main attraction. Kids enjoyed a lot.

  • 3/5 Nikesh S. 2 years ago on Google
The nature trail is big and quite a walk. Not many animal species out here except deers and if lucky one would be able to spot bears , leopard. Elderly people having knee problems should avoid taking this trail.

Some one will expect Snow leopard that is not in the zoo. One can get good sight of pair of Griffon Vulture. The area is good place for the animals, but it's maintanence is very poor. There is no one to look after the tourists once they entered the animal area. They keep on shouting and disturbing the animals. There are few errors in the description boards of some animals. Central Potato Research Station is also situated nearby the Zoo.

Leopard and Brown bear are the main attraction along with beautiful Himalayan birds. Overall great experience.😍

Nothing special, very few animals 4-5 types of deers, 1 bear,3 jaguars and some birds. Only good if you want to enjoy snow.

Sprawled in large area, very quiet. Good place to bring young children. Leopard, deer, bear, and birds can be seen from close.

  • 4/5 Mukesh G. 2 years ago on Google
The day we visited the zoo, the weather was amazing. It was raining intermittently and the outside temperature was about 15°C which made the visit all the more worthwhile. The tickets are reasonably priced. The most important aspect of the zoo is that you almost feel like visiting through jungle. There isn't much variety of animals but you can see deer, leopard, bears, rooster, etc. Nice place to take the kids if in vicinity.

Not a great place to visit in non-winters. There is nothing to enjoy at Kufri without snow. Infact I encountered quite unhygienic surroundings when I reached the top spending Rs500/- for the horse ride(wasted). The only good thing happened to me is this shot below.

The Kufri zoo is a nice one time visit to check box an outdoor activity for tourists visiting places around Shimla. This zoo is a small enclosure however have a great variety of deer. Some special species to watch are common leopard, Himalayan vultures, pheasants, bears, leopard cats. The zoo has an exclusive parking at the cost of Rs 100 but it's a convenience to the visiting tourists. There is a Chinese bunglow converted into a restaurant cum bar for options for fast food, Indian, Chinese and beverages including beer ! All in all good option for a limited adventure options in the hill station of Kufri.

A quite, serene zoo at the lap of mountains with a teeming South Asian animals and pheasants. The lazy leopards, cute brown bear and charming deer are the highlights. Adjacent, there is a shopping counter to get grass, cane and handmade organic products.

It is very good. All animals are active. It is up to 1km. It is well built. You should go in holidays with your children it is very enjoyable

  • 5/5 Keenan F. 10 months ago on Google
Well kept and maintained place. Moderate Variety of animals like deers and leopards. The zoo is neat and clean. But , please maintain decorum and silence in the zoo as it disturbs the animals. If you want to park and want to specifically only visit the zoo then there is a separate government parking for the zoo. Avoid parking in other government parkings as they will block your car and create a huge blunder while removing your car. There is also parking alongside the road otw to the zoo. It's a wiser choice to park closer to the zoo. Enjoy your trip to the zoo

A well maintained zoo, animals were looking healthy which is the major point. Hats off to forest dept for ensuring this.leopard and brown bear will be a good watch. Was snow covered when we went in first week of feb 2023. Tahr, deer , langurs etc are also there in the zoo.

The horse vendors do not promote Kufri Zoo and the small garden, which has a beautiful restaurant and shopping shops. It is very well organized, and the zoo with territorial animals and birds, brown bears, and leopards is the best attraction for kids and families. Don't get trapped into the horse riders' convincing you to go to the hilltop for their interest. Actually, in May, there is no snow and no point in visiting hilltop poonts

It's small in size but well maintained with a good distribution of animals like carnivores, herbivores, birds section etc. Cleanliness is good. Animals existing here are healthy and fresh. Overall it is good but the size of the park is small compared to other zoos.

  • 5/5 Amit B. 8 months ago on Google
Beautiful small park with mini zoo.Ticket is 50 per adult. They have tried to keep animal enclosures as natural as possible. People with kids or those who prefer peaceful natural surroundings will like it. Those looking for activities might not find that interesting. Entrance is thru a hall with stuffed animal faces showing taxidermy skills. 1+ Km trail takes one thru natural greenery with huge pine and deodar trees, flowers and enclosures of Deers, leopards, bears, birds along the way. Trail could be bit tiring for elderly. One can spend 45 mins to 1 hr here. At exit gate there are maggie and tea points.

My recent visit to the Himalayan Natural Park in Kufri left me enchanted by the pristine beauty and tranquility that defines this natural haven. The park, nestled in the Himalayan foothills, is a sanctuary of biodiversity. The well-maintained trails wind through lush greenery, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the splendor of the surrounding mountains. The diverse flora and fauna, including indigenous species, add an educational element to the serene experience. The highlight of the visit was the panoramic views from various vantage points within the park. The sight of snow-capped peaks and the crisp mountain air create a surreal ambiance, making it a perfect retreat for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.

😠 Terrible. Animal exploitation. There is a huge cartel of horse and adventure tour guys who will not even allow you to walk up and do the sightseeing. They push the people who don't want to sit on the horse and don't let them walk and do the sightseeing. Local authorities need to do something urgentl...
