Now is the best time to visit marottichal waterfalls. Even though the main attractive water fall is situated inside the forest unfortunately the govt had restricted entry into the forest now it is closed with fences, but in the lower portion their is a beautiful waterfall which is safe and beautiful to bath. Many families and youngsters are visiting this place. It's best for refreshment if you are visiting thrissur don't forget to visit this place. Entry is free

We visited here on our trip back from chimmini dam, it is truly a must visit place in Thrissur. You can reach here by following google maps location. Park the vehicle on the road side and need to walk for around 20min to reach the waterfall. Carry out extra pair of dress so that you can swim. First time i experienced natural fish spa from here πŸ˜… there are lots of fish in the water, you can leave your legs idle and they will come and tickle you 🀣 overall it was a wonderful experience recommend for a half day visit ❀️

I wonder why the tourism department didnt take over this place . This second best waterfalls in Thrissur district . The main waterfall is now not reachable since forest department sealed off the way. But still small water falls are good enough for the public. Parking is along the road downside the falls, and should walk around 500 meter upwards to reach the area.

Marottichal waterfalls, have been hearing this since my college days, but never got a chance to visit there until last week. It's not a fully explored tourist spot. Though to reach the actual spot we need to walk a bit through forest, but it is closed now and the access is restricted up to the cascade which is just a 10 mins walk. There is no parking area and we have to park the vehicles on roadside. Though Google map says we have reached our destination, we have to double check with the natives as there are no sign boards. But the lower cascade is a great spot. It will be a little challenging for the senior citizens to reach there. It's not that dangerous though the rocks are somewhat slippery. The lowest part of cascade is a safe place for kids and family. We could not see any forest officials to control the tourists though there were a bunch of tourists over there.

No waterfalls now. The residents of the area told that we should visit during the rainy season to see waterfalls. Have to walk about half a kilometre from the main road to reach.

Superb place better than peechi. You can refresh with the rhythm of water fall and can feel the breeze. Best time to visit in the afternoon. And For your Kind ATTENTION ( Those who are going to visit this place via Maps, you will lose 2-3 litres of your fuel by rotating around the water fallsπŸ€‘πŸ˜‚, its just tricky to find and the location is incorrect. So before you reach final 1km nearby just ask any local guards near by they will guide you. Happy Tripping 😍

It is really a amazing place , actually a small falls only ,but the scenic view you get over here is almost different. You should park your car on the side of the road only and get down walk for 800m in a narrow passage. Actually that passage is very difficult to walk for elder people. There are lots of small fishes in the water . Amazing place inside the forest.

Nice place to visit with family and friends. It's situated a little away from the main road , so you have to walk to reach there. If you are visiting in rainy season you have to be careful as the rocks are very slippery , as you have to climb down some rocks in order to reach there .

The Marottichal Waterfall also known as Olakkayam Waterfall at Cheerakund is only 400 metre from the main road. The Olakkayam Waterfall, not being explored so much till date have made it one of the finest spot for spending some time alone surrounded by nature away from the noise and the monotonous routine of the city life. One gets to witness the beauty of nature around at its best with the waters falling from the cluster of rocks into the gorge below. You can swim and bathe in the middle of a green environment and get a refreshing as well as relaxed feeling. The waterfall is separated from the reserve forest with an electric fence which works on solar energy, at around 150 metre from the waterfall. The Forest Department has posted a security guard for morning surveillance. The area is notorious for human-animal conflict; wild animals wandering into human settlements is a constant threat. Leopards and elephants have been spotted often in the area. Ilanjippara Waterfalls, which is around 4km away from the Marottichal/ Olakkayam falls is now restricted and closed to the visitors. The ideal time to visit are the monsoon months from June. Olakkayam Waterfall resembles the Vazhachal Falls near Athirappilly Waterfalls.

Vehicles won't reach till the end. We will have to walk around 400m to reach the spot. Now there is less water but still pools of water present here and there . It is situated in the forest and also a good place for natural fish spa even though u should watch out for crabs. Good place for couples and family to hangout

A small waterfall but good calm place for outing with boys. Not highly recommended place for family. Best place for people who do not know how to swim. There is no parking space and four wheelers do not reach to the spot. People have to walk around 200-500m to reach this spot.

This place is not open to the public due to some reason. It's a beautiful waterfall but you can only hear the sound of it now. Entry to this place is blocked by a fence... πŸ˜’ Most disappointing thing is that you will only find out the place is closed when you reach near the waterfall. Even in the fence there is no sign or alert about the entry restrictions. So don't waste your time

Marottichal Waterfalls is a must-visit spot for nature lovers in Thrissur, Kerala. Although the main waterfall located inside the forest is currently inaccessible, there is still a beautiful and safe waterfall to enjoy in the lower portion. Visitors can enjoy a refreshing bath and listen to the pleasant sounds of birds chirping and butterflies fluttering around. It is important to remember to not litter in the area and respect nature. While there is a vast area to explore, visitors should be cautious and stay within the fenced areas for safety reasons. The area inside the fence is vibrant and perfect for those who enjoy being surrounded by nature. A four-kilometer hike will lead visitors to a stunning waterfall, and there is a smaller one near the entrance for those who want to relax. It is advisable to avoid visiting during rainy seasons due to the risk of mudslides. It is recommended to visit Marottichal Waterfalls during the afternoon for the best experience. However, finding the location might be tricky for first-time visitors, and the location on maps is incorrect. It is advisable to ask the local guards nearby for directions to avoid wasting fuel and time. The area is better than the more popular Peachi and is a superb place to refresh, feel the rhythm of the waterfall and the breeze.

In my opinion, Kerala has an underrated spot which is similar to a forest. Most of the places inside this area are untouched and wild, so inexperienced hikers may be at risk. There is a beautiful waterfall after a four kilometer hike and small one near the start of the area for leisure. It is best to avoid visiting during rainy seasons due to the high chance of mudslides.

Good place for family and friends. The best thing is that there is no fares to access this waterfall. You need to walk a bit to reach the site from the road. The place was a little crowded when I went, obviously as it was a weekend.

One of my favorite falls in thrissur because of the beautiful hike and geographical structure. It's a nice small and beautiful waterfall and is less than 20kms form town. The water is cold enough to give a refreshing experience once you wet your legs.!Must be careful. Near waterfall rocks are slippery.should be very very careful enough. While you are there , don’t forget to miss this amazing experience. Thankyou

Good place to feel the freshness of nature Marottichal Waterfalls is a popular tourist attraction located in Puthoor Panchayat in Thrissur district of Kerala. Marottichal is about 20 km away from Thrissur town. There are two popular waterfalls in this area, one is named as Olakkayam Waterfalls and the other as Ilanjippara Waterfalls. Ilanjippara Waterfalls is about 300-400 meters from the main road. Ilanjippara Waterfall is about four kilometers away from Illankippara Waterfalls. Ilanjippara Waterfall, being the main waterfall is situated inside Reserve Forest and the entry to this waterfall is currently restricted by Kerala Forest Department. Any unauthorized entry will attract imprisonment of 1 to 5 years and up to a fine of β‚Ή5000.

Its a very peacefull place. We could hear a veraity of birds chirping and other different sounds which was so much pleasant. There were also lots of butterflies. The best time to visit this place would be after mansoon season. Coz water level was very much low as i visted on summer season. If you plan on visiting this place plz be carefull not to through beer bottles or any other wastes out there πŸ™‡. I went to this place from my collage as a member of nature and photography club and we almost collected three full sacks of alcohol bottles. Its forest area, so animals could get wounded by the broken glass pieces. There is so much vast area to explore in there but you might need a special permission to go beyond fences. The place inside the fence itself is a vibrant spot. Its a very admirable place for thoes who enjoy nature.
