Poomala dam is situated in Thrissur district of Kerala. Even though we cll it as a dam, its actually a reservoir. It is situated 94.5m above the sea level. You can't see any shutters or anything here as in other dams. Boating facility is available here and its good place to spend an evening with family and kids. Note - Due to Covid19 boating is not available these days.

It is a small dam but beautiful. Usually not crowded. A park for kids is along with the dam. A wall path for tourists and boating as well. Small teashops are nearby. Parking spaces are very few but we can park along the roadside. Its good if we plan to visit "cheppara rock garden" and poomla dam together in a single day trip. (As of 20 Aug 2021 Park and Dam closed Due to covid restrictions and Maintenance.)

Poomala is a untouched scenic location in Thrissur. This dam is situated about 15km from Thrissur city in Kerala. Travellers can enjoy the boat rides at Poomala Boat House. This is a small facility and there wasn't much crowd. So limit your expectations

It is a small dam site located close to the town of Thrissur...It is a beautiful place...There is a small children's park nearby ....It is a clean space that is not too crowded...This is a great place for kids and family ...

Very small dam. Nothing much to see. For sure, the calm and windy ambiance gives immense feel . Not so crowded. Looks very beautiful while raining. Roads leading to the dam is too small. No traffic at all.

Poomala Dam is around 12km fro Thrissur City. Its a Getaway spot fron the city but still very under develop. There is a small park, some seating areas and boat ride. You can enjoy the view of Dam. There is lot of potential for development and some proposals are being worked on.

Park renovation not yet finished and don't have sufficient rides for childrens..

Poomala dam is good place to relax peacefully and enjoy the beauty of the dam and the river.

You can spent your free evenings in poomala dam. Enjoy the water falls during rainy season. Natural fish spa is amazing. A total natural refresher. Recommended

Very nice greenery calm place ! Nice air, but need some maintenance to improve and can be effective for recreations. But to visit this place is wonderful. JESUS made it wonderfully 🙏

Nothing important in this location. It is a small dam. Children park has no facilities. There are a lot of stray dogs in children park. No maintenance. The only available facility is boating. charges 200 per pedel boat for half an hour. I think it is a little bit costly for this location. If you are visiting Cheppaara cave which is near by and if you have time to spend then it is ok to visit poomala dam . Driving approximately 8 kilometre from main road to visit poomala dam is not worth. There are no restuarants nearby. Not even a good icecream parlour.No tourist office. No entry tickets No toilets.

Visit for a peaceful day I find it to be very calming to sit by the dam and take in the sights. I usually spend evenings and nights at poomala dam and I find it very relaxing
