This is a fabulous place. Family run and family owned by generations of the same family. This place is amazing and what they have built up is a real achievement. Expect firnishings to be fairly simply and straightforward, similar to what one might find in traditional mountain chalets. Rooms have a homely charm, eventhough free wifi was good, dont expect any luxury. This hotel does have its own indoor pool, the famous Elk Bar and a restaurant with an amazing choice of items. The owner still spends time in the kitchen and his wife takes care of the reservations. The staff is doing multiple tasks, working in the restaurants as well as taking care of the front desk and this helps to give it very familiar and family feel. Sometimes you have to wait a little longer lthan usual during busy times but nothing excrutiating. The restuarant menu serve traditional german style food as well as good spare ribs and a variety of other dishes. We stayed here with a large group for a week and never felt the need to eat anywhere else. There was always a good choice for everybody and the food quality was great. The desserts were all home made in house and each and every one we tried was fabulous. The Elk Bar is a lovely bar with its own wine cellar, visible from the bar through a glass wall. The bar has an open fire place and there are regular live music performances. The hotel is equipped to cater for wintersport tourism and they have plenty of storage for all the guest equipment. The place is situated near the center of Malbun, a very small village in a valley. The village has only one main road running throuhg it and there is very little traffic. This also means that parking space is limited but the owner always managed to find a space for our cars (we basically gave him the keys and had no further worries). This hotel was a great place to be and we found the rates to be very fair, even in the high season (christmas through new year). Definitely recommendable and we will definitely be visiting again

The best origin food in Malbun. They are famous for Alpenspätzli topped with bacon, we had caramel waffel with cream and caramelglace & Demel Coffee. Beautiful Service.

The best place to stay short time , long time, any time!!! The food is mouth watering. The rooms are warmest. The pool is coolest (in a good way). The area is the most amazing. The owners are down to earth and work very hard to make your stay memorable. Absolutely loved it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great hotel and restaurant. Beautiful scenery in the mountains, with the sound of cow bells in the distance. All of the staff are friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Rooms are great for the price and clean and tidy. There are various communal areas with games and books etc and a swimming pool on the second floor. Restaurant is good with breakfast included with continental offerings, and bacon and eggs on request. Evening meal was good with a wide choice on the menu. The deer sausage and potatoe cake was good! Beer and food is a little pricey but it is most of the way up a mountain so explains it I am sure. Roughly £5 for a pint. Wine is c. £30 a bottle upwards. Dinner £15-25 for most things.

Very tradicional place, nice landscape and great kitchen!!

Staff was friendly, though they do double duty in the restaurant. Pool view was pretty sweet. Located midpoint between the two lifts. Breakfast was way above average.

I only had some beer here, but I had to have a review due to the superb service! Everyone speaks English and German. If you pay by card, minimum spend is 50 EUR. (No such restriction of you have an EC karte)

Rather dated rooms. The window did not seal in ours. Toilet positioned under sink, rather odd. Reception not always staffed. WIFI OK. Food of excellent quality. Easy walk to everything in Malbun.

This place placed with heaven) With good people, breakfast and charming rooms, good prices and such a good view, places like this deserve only 5 stars, thanks for your working and service 👍

This is a review of the Alpenhotel Restaurant. Nice selection but the food is a little disappointing. The breaded mushroom starter was really nice. Sadly the Spare Ribs were just awful, do not order under any circumstances. They were opened up as individual ribs and grilled to an inch of their lives. We had some other food in our group, which was very salty. For the price, there are better options nearby for sure.

All in all a beautiful place. I must say i was disappointed how the service personal treated me. I myself work in service and know the stressful part of the job. Our waitress took our orders, me choosing the small portion of the Käsespätlze which is around 22.- chf. I asked if i could have both salad and applesauce. I know for a fact that having both could come with extra charges. But nothing was written in the menu nor did the waitress tell us anything about these charges. To pay we had to wait around 20-25min. After asking to pay again. The waitress snapped back at us. I know she was stressed since there was a lot going on. When we got the bill they charged us the big portion of the Käsespätzle. I told her i ordered the small portion, to this she answered back to me that i already ate my food its my fault. If i would have known i would have sent my food back. To that there was an additional charge for the salad and applesauce. Which was 6.-. If i would have known i would have not ordered. I asked kindly if for the future they could mention these charges. She snapped back at me and asked me what else i had ordered to pay. In the end the total amount was 80,10.- We gave her 100.- and she gave herself the pleasure to tip herself and not give me the exact amount back. To this i have nothing to say. The food was delicious, very good nothing to complain and the place is beautiful. But maybe teach the waitress that even in stressful moments kindness and fairness is a valuable factor. I never complain in anything with waitressing but this was not ok.
