This is a monastery located in the northwestern town of St. Augustine in Tunapuna. It is the home of the Benedictine monks who live and work in Trinidad and Tobago. Nice panoramic view of the surrounding towns and greenery. Good hiking trails there for sports enthusiasts. Not crowded

Great area to go to relax and enjoy the view. Say a prayer in the church. Bless your car or what I mostly go for. The hiking. Nice trails to exercise. If you want to De stress and just get away take a drive up to the church. Not a big church guy but take a seat inside or outside the church and cast your stress away.

Nice drive up a mountain. The view is spectacular. On clear days you can even see the ocean. Up there is a church, shop that sells religious items, shop that sells snacks, bathrooms, car park and a area outside where you can sit and relax.

This early 19 century abbey is located in the northwestern town of St. Augustine in Tunapuna. I spent an 1hr here. Its a functional church with mass held at specific times. Lovely view over looking the surrounding area. There is holy water which you can take. There is also a guest house where you can stay next door or just have afternoon tea. The abbey has a gift shop which has various items and also candles if you need to light a candle in the abbey. There is a small cafeteria and toilet facilities. So easy to sit and allow the day to pass you by.

What an exceptional place. The locals climb the hill for exercise and the devoted to say the stations of the cross particularly during lent. There is a lookout over caroni swamp which I didn't expect to be so vast and p.o.s. savannah which is suprisenly not. Lovely view all the way to the coast and you can spend hours finding areas you know. The rest rooms were very clean and for once,,,I guess being a religious area free of the usual litter of food boxes and plastic bottles. I can't tell you much about the church etc but I know you can board for religious retreats and spiritual guidance. There are also wonderful hikes over the hill.

Another item crossed off my bucket list during a brief visit to Trinidad. It is quite a winding drive up the mountain. Unfortunately, when I visited last week, it was raining cats and dogs, so not much could be seen. Nevertheless, it was not a wasted visit as it was a peaceful sanctuary as I was having a difficult day. My friend who brought me purchased some candles and a lighter, after which we proceeded to the church. The air was cool and serene, a perfect ambience for reflection and prayer. I lit the candles, one for each of my parents and the other for everyone else who has significant meaning in my life. It was a nice experience😊

Soothing and relaxing place to visit! A quick drive from the airport in Port of Spain and much more peaceful than sitting in an airport waiting on a delayed flight. The views are stunning and the drive there is great, do yourself a favor and take the time to enjoy this scenic peaceful retreat.

Tranquil to say the least. As far back as my childhood memories could take me, visiting Mount St. Benedict Abbey with my parents on a yearly basis was one I dearly looked forward to. We would purchase candles at their shop along with edible items and offer prayers inside the church, after which we would enjoy the breath taking view outside. The church together with its facilities are well maintained. If you wish to visit but cannot drive to get there, there are shuttles going to and from the church on a regular basis throughout the day. The shuttles are located next to Scotia Bank which is on the main road.

The view and calm relaxing atmosphere is good for the mind, body, and soul it's refreshing and full of perspective. Maybe you might go there and suddenly find yourself in an existential crisis thinking about things too deeply, then again maybe if you're having an existential crisis and you go there and you might find yourself becoming calm and full of peace thinking what is to be will be. The bathroom needs some work, but it is quite a nice and well-kept historical site.

This is the proper place for peace and tranquility. Despite being a Hindu, we still go to Mount St Benedict. It's one of the beauty of being born in Trinidad and Tobag. We are a multicultural nation. We respect each other religion and celebrate every occasion. There are few person's though who have different mentality, however, it's not enough to spoil our beautiful country. I would definitely recommend you visiting the Mount.

Fresh air, beautiful scenery, quiet surroundings, hearing birds chirping and seeing hummingbirds feeding...honestly its nature at one of its best. Plus the church building offers a peak into history and has a few spots that remind you of old European architecture. Plus, tea on the mount (3/5) was made even better by the amazing views.

Nice lookout. On a clear day you can see Sando and the central range, most of the Caroni swamp and Nariva swamp. There is also a trail that leads to the pines which give you additional views of Trinidad northern range.

Nice hike. Going there was a little scary but after I drove to the top it wasn't bad at all. We parked at the lower level car park across from the soccer field and walked the rest. The children and I had fun as we walked up the mountain. When we got there the over look was beautiful. I am glad we did it. Keep going explore new places and gain great experiences as well memories.

A picturesque view from the seating area outside- beautiful red flaming trees adorn the compound making the area suitable to eat and there's also a cafeteria. This place of worship allows anyone in, but please use discretion about attire and do not consume alcohol on this premises.

So peaceful and serene. Yesterday I took my grandson to request a prayer of protection and blessing by the Priest there. The priest was so very accommodating and warmly honored my request. May God richly bless him. Thank you FatherπŸ™πŸŒΉ

This is a quiet beautiful church on the Northern range. Please be mindful that this is a *church* above all, as you take in the view of the East West corridor, and listen to the church's bell toll. It's a scenic place where you can find your thoughts, and peace. If you ever get the chance to take in a sermon don't miss it.
