A scenic 35 min walk through lush forest. It had some fallen trees on the trail so if visiting be careful navigating that. The waterfall is soo refreshing! A definite must visit

So, let's start. When you enter about 2km from the main road, you can park at a private residence or drive to where the road ends. If you park by the private car park, this will probably add 20-25mins to the hike. From the starting point of the trail, I would estimate about 40-45 minutes if you take your time. The trail is generally a muddy one at certain parts and takes some maneuvers to avoid fallen trees, etc. If rain falls, expect the trail to be very muddy. There is a small rope section at the end, but nothing big. The waterfall is short, however heavy, when rain falls a few days before. The water current will basically push you away if flow is heavy. The basin is very deep, and life jackets highly recommended.

Great hike, not too challenging. Prepare for mud and not to great roads but always a good time.

The second most beautiful waterfall in Trinidad and Tobago, the first being Paria Waterfall. It was a fairly easy hike with just one uphill and one downhill to get to the fall. Usually takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the pace at which you hike. The waterfall has a deep basin so life jackets are definitely recommended for inexperienced swimmers.

Great waterfall with amazing scenery. However I enjoyed the hike to the waterfall a bit more than the actual waterfall.

A must-do in Trinidad. I would call this a moderate hike only because there were many muddy and slippery parts. But it is a very short and relatively flat hike. About a mile one-way. There is only 1 place you need to cross the river and we were able to do so without taking off our shoes or getting them wet. The river crossing is very obvious with a giant path on the other end. At about .6 miles the path seems to go into the river but this is a false path. If you post attention, you can see the path actually goes up over some tree roots. The pool at the water fall is amazingly clear and full of fish. If you throw them bits of bread they will jump out of the water.

What a wonderful experience! You start off through the lush forest and make your way through the trail (sometimes hilly) and after about 45 mins at a moderate pace, you are rewarded with crisp, clean air, and one of the best natural waterfalls Trinidad has to offer. Beautiful falls and cool, refreshing water awaits. The pool is quite deep so make sure you are a good swimmer. You can even climb the falls and jump off into the deeper end of the pool if you are feeling brave. A true treasure!

Awesome experience...I encourage persons to go and hike to this waterfall at least once in their lifetime. While the trail is not difficult, it can be a slippery paradise when the rain falls. It is one of the best nature trails to go on..I would also encourage you to go with a group as this is a rather long hike...with out giving too much away I say put on some strong sneakers grab your water and go do it..You will reach the majestic finish when you have accomplished half your task.

Rio Seco Waterfall I will say is the most beautiful Waterfall I've visited thus far, it was so nice I went twice within 2 months. Trail is very muddy and have a lot of roots so be careful.

Largest single basin in Trinidad. Life jackets needed if you can't swim. Excellent spot to jump of the waterfall and dive into the water. Well kept trail. Tho some areas a tad muddy. Which is part of the fun. Also wonderful huge rocks and other spots to eat relax and shallow pools to lay down and let the clear, clean mountain water flow against your body.

First time visiting here and honestly loved every second of the walk to the falls and it was so worth it. The waters were cleaned and the even the path had no garbage. Not sure if it's because everyone has been indoors for covid though. My only complaint was at the beginning of the walk by the parking places, the bin was overflowing with Garbage. I do wish there was a bigger bin especially since the garbage collectors probably don't go that far out.

Very beautiful pool and falls. Stay left when you approach the Y intersection near the start of the trail. The path was very very muddy for a large portion of the trail. The hike is about ~2km one way and took about 1hr to get up when navigating the thick mud. The road up to the start is narrow and there are many large potholes. Recommend 4x4 or high clearance vehicles.

This is a challenging hike. You should be in good shape to do this. Your shoes will get muddy and there is a bit of climbing.

Rio Seco waterfall is within the Salybia area and is one of the more beautiful waterfall in Trinidad with a large pool to have a swim. From the parking area the walk to the waterfall takes about 30-40 minutes. The trail is through a nice forested area with nice trees and greenery. The water is cold but refreshing and a nice place to enjoy nature at it's best.

A challenging but not so challenging hike with lots of greenery, foresting and filled with the exciting sounds of fresh spring water flowing down the stream to boost your confidence and give motivation upon arriving a pleasing sight of a waterfall. The duration is between 45 minutes - 1hour and 30minutes based on the pace your moving at. Go early so that you can enjoy every minute possible with this sight and experience and don’t forget, watch your step and be aware of where you place your feet. πŸ˜‰

Beautiful place for taking a swim, relaxing in the shallower areas, jumping from the two levels of the falls, enjoying nature and company of your friends and strangers.

More of a waterslide than a waterfall but has an emerald pool of crisp pristine water to bathe and relax in. Well worth the 20-30min walk

The hike to the waterfall is a pleasant one. It isn't too long or hard. The actual waterfall is quite beautiful. The only thing is that I wouldn't recommend if you're not a strong swimmer. It is very deep in certain parts.

  • 4/5 Aisha W. 4 years ago on Google
Beautiful, wide and deep pool which peters out to some very small rapids in the immediately downstream. The walk takes about 30-40 minutes and can be muddy in areas. You must cross 2 streams and climb a moderately challenging ascent about 25 minutes in which primarily comprises of tree roots. There's a sharp descent to the riverbed at the end. But the trail is usually wide and carpeted with leaves and very pleasant.

One of the best waterfalls in Trinidad. Not a difficult hike and the water was just majestic.

Did this hike as part of a last lap kinda thing. Like somebody said, it isn't hard, but by no way is it easy. Did this after a 2 day lull in the rain, so I expected some mud, but SHEESH! I feel like a lot more could be done by the forestry division to make our trails less death-defying (which was fun, don't get me wrong, but there was one treacherous land-slipped 5 metre gap, where not holding on firmly enough to the hastily tied ropes could have ended badly... and we'd taken along kids). But it was absolutely worth the effort. I'm a slow-but-steady hiker, it took me 2hours each way, and I was sweaty but not tired AT ALL.
