Ocean Spirit Scuba Diving Mauritius has mastered the combination of being fun and professional. I showed up thinking my son (13) and I would would just learn how to dive & do 1 dive, but the experience was so great we cancel our other activities to do more dives! I would highly recommend this amazing team and if we ever go back to Mauritius we will certainly be at Ocean Spirits door!!! My only complaint about this amazing experience as that we did not have more time to do more dives!!!

Thank you to the Ocean Spirit team for the most wonderful experience while diving in Mauritius. I don't know where to even begin describing how happy I was at Ocean Spirit. Everybody involved made every aspect of the adventures incredible. I loved the attention to detail, the family that was built, the boat, the instructors, the guidance, the safety, and the conservationist attitude. I have been to many dive operations in my dive career, and this was by far the most enjoyable and smoothly run. I have described the operation above, but haven't even begun to describe the incredible dive sites- the life, the variety, the experiences- stunning. Blew away all expectations. I would say breathtaking, but it's SCUBA afterall! Cannot reccomend enough- not only if you are in the area, but a visit here from anywhere in the world is worth it. All the multinational dive buddies we had all agree. Stunning.

Update see below 2019: Great team, you just have to bring some time, be sociable and you'll be part of the diving family. Great diving boat with good sun protection. After the dive there are delicious snacks (samos) and always enough drinking water. Of the 5 different diving schools I dived with, this is the best in Mauritius for me. Update 12/09/2021 Diving school has been renovated and is now nicer and more spacious. I can still recommend the diving school without reservation. It's important not to rush. If you have a problem, simply speak up and a solution will be found. The nice skipper Jouvani speaks German, English and French. Thanks to Bernard, Bobby, Nando and Jill for over 50 unforgettable dives.

My wife and I dived with Ocean Spirit in December 2022. We undertook a total of 26 dives with them, ranging from reef dives, night dives, wreck dives and shark dives. We are PADI Rescue with 20 years experience and over 400 dives each and always take our own equipment. We have dived all over the world including South Africa, Maldives, Fiji, Red Sea (5 times), Mexico both sides, Caribbean……. The list goes on and we are also regular UK divers. The reason I state this is to demonstrate that we have other places to compare Ocean Spirit with. Our interests lie mainly in shark/pelagic encounters and this was the primary reason we booked to dive in Mauritius - don’t get me wrong there are many places in the world where the encounters are greater, but Palau etc from the UK are just too expensive. Before we booked our flights to Mauritius (£672 return) I contacted a number of dive centres to see what was offered and by whom, I have learned that you get a very early feel for a dive centre from responses you get in advance of booking, some promise the earth or don’t respond or change the information when you probe deeper eg they disclose that you are actually visiting in the wrong season for that species. OS were honest from the start and very responsive to questions, I got the sense they actually cared about managing our expectations, no promises of sightings etc, their website was clear with pricing and they clarified their prices for us taking our own gear, having said that their own gear was of a very high standard and we would have been completely happy to use theirs (we have experienced some appalling dive gear over the years with different centres hence we use our own). On arrival in Mauritius we went in person to the dive centre and met with the staff who were very friendly and accommodating, it was clear that they cater for every range of experience from non divers undertaking a ‘try dive’, to new starters, to the more experienced. The staff were a pleasure to deal with and couldn’t do enough to help, everyone has a passion for diving. The owners Jill and Roger are like newbies with their enthusiasm (Roger 40+ years of diving coming up to his 6000 dive!!!). We dived with them both regularly and can say they bring a tranquility and professionalism to the experience, coupled with their professional instructors Bernard (what a character and comedian) Bobby, Yo, Nandi and Dhani. I will also give a special mention to Jovani (at the helm of their dive boat which is a very comfortable purpose built dive boat not all dive boats in Mauritius are in my view suitable for comfortable or safe entry/exit - choose your dive centre carefully) as an experienced boat skipper myself, it’s very comforting when a skipper with Jovanis experience is dropping you off and getting you out - his boat handling is exceptional. The diving OS provided was varied with different sites and they go the extra mile to ensure you see as much as you can, IF you decide you want to do the shark dives, which I highly recommend, your experience will be taken into account and your safety managed to an exceptional level. My acid test is - “Would I book to dive with OS again?” My answer - 100% definitely yes!!! Excellent dive centre, Excellent Facilities, Excellent equipment, Excellent safety standards, Excellent staff. Well done guys and thank you for a wonderful 2 weeks

Very professional. During my trip to Mauritius, I went diving with them and the service is fantastic. They take care of you at all times and adapt to your level to give you the best experience. There were other dive centers closer to my hotel in Grand Baie, but it's worth going to this one. Both the classes and the safaris with them are the best experience on the island.

Sunset cruises now being offered. Really wonderful, lots of fun. Saw dolphins, some people swam, danced the ‘Jerusalem’. Definitely worth a trip. Will do it again.

Absolutely fantastic! I have just completed 6 dives with Ocean Spirit and wished i could do more. Overall they are a First Class operation with excellent experienced instructors (especially Bobby and Roger), boat handlers, administrative and support staff. The equipment is of very good quality and they have a great dive boat. The sites they visit are varied but never failed to impress - check out their youtube channel some some brilliant videos of shark, wall, reef and wreck diving :).

We dived with Ocean Spirit for a week and had the most wonderful time. The dive masters are very skilled at showing what species to expect before each dive and also are very good at finding them while underwater. All the staff is super professional, and we will definitely return if we get the chance.

My wife and I did the Discover Scuba Diving course for both of our first dives. They were very accommodating and fit us in despite our limited availability. We had a great experience, that was fun, relaxed and safe. All of the staff was super friendly, welcoming, and informative. The price was great and the equipment was in good condition. Absolutely recommended.

To flee ! Theft of 2000 rupees from our bag while it was in a closed locker and we had the key with us We returned the next day; the employees had to discuss it with the boss and call us back but of course: no news

Giving a review two weeks after my two dives with Bernard as I wanted to compare different dive shops for a well-founded review. The booking was smooth and easy; I contacted them on Whatsapp and they responded quickly, were very helpful and patient to answer quiries. The dive shop is very well-managed with dry, new, well-kept equipment, and a wetzone to wash used gears and a small shower area for quick showers of divers after dives. The staff is really friendly, and explain everything to you before dives- Safety as a top priority so I did a refresher before my dive (as my previous dive was 3 months ago and I'm a beginner). On the boat, there were 3-4 divemasters/instructors and divers were divided into max. 4 people per group. They check weather conditions every day and select the best sites accordingly for optimal experience. We saw abundant fish, colorful corals and a turtle and were able to swim very close to it! All in all, they are very professional and chill and fun people who love diving, and their passion really makes divers of all levels feel confident and calm but excited for every dive!

I had the most amazing time with Ocean Spirit Scuba Diving. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. The dive-sites were absolutely beautiful, from wrecks, to sharks, to the tiniest creatures, you'll find whatever your diving heart desires. The boat and equipment were in top shape. But it was the team who made the experience truly unforgettable. Everyone was so welcoming, warm and kind from day one, providing an atmosphere you want to stick around for. Thank you all so much for the best time on Mauritius! And a special thanks to Bobby for being an awesome instructor for so many dives. I'll most definitely be back. :)

we went to Ocean Spirit for our first dive and scuba induction. We were pleased to find out our mentor would be Bernard who is their most experienced diver. The theoretical part was covered decent as we were on land and then a short practical lesson on the shore. We were a group of 2 and another group of 3 children were on the same boat. After we got to the diving site, Bernard went to the dive with the second group and they really took their time and seemed to have had a great time. However when our turn came the things started to get really rushed. Some reminders of what we have to do would have helped. Bernard took as it seemed he was is a very different tempo and to finish the dive. My girlfriend did not complete the dive. After she returned to the boat I wanted to continue the dive. While me and Bernard were underwater trying to descent i was still feeling rushed and things literally started to spin around. I signed Bernard to return to surface which we did and told him what happened. He did not seem to understand and kept asking me if i want to continue the dive. As the things kept spinning and not knowing what's happening i told him to stop the dive and return to boat. Later i read i had vertigo and that usually happens if you don't equalise enough the pressure in the ears and descent too fast. After we returned to the boat and back to the shore he didn't speak a word to me. He didn't even asked what happen or at least explain if what I am feeling is normal or what it is. He did not seem to be very bothered neither of us completed our first dive or at least to enjoy the whole experience. I want to mention i tried and of the other adrenaline filled activities and much more extreme than scuba and have enjoyed them and of course complete them but this experience was a complete fiasco. Later edit: i don't have any medical condition and i was the one stoping the dive. Bernard did not seem to understand why

First Dive. The experience was amazing and all the team, specially Bobby - who was an amazing instructor- , helped me to feel confident and win one of my biggest fear ever. last but not at least what we saw under the water was spectacular.

Pros : Great staff, very nice dive masters, they were professional and all. Would have recommended but… Cons : the management changed recently (6 months ago) and now it’s managed directly by the owner, who - despite being quite nice when you meet with her - has absolutely no business sense. You now have to pay twice for your equipment if you dive twice on the same excursion (without coming back on shore nor changing anything regarding the equipment, apart from the bottle of course). I’ve never seen such a policy on all the dive centers I’ve been to. If they have to cancel a dive on a specific site due to bad conditions (for example the shark dive) and then make you dive on a nearby site but that has no sharks (and basically nothing very special to see), they still make you pay the extra amount related to sharks instead of giving a discount (or voucher) corresponding to the price difference between a shark dive and a regular dive (so basically you end up paying for the extra fuel needed to go to the shark dive site, and then can only hope that the conditions will allow you to see the sharks otherwise it’s your loss because they will still go to the dive site regardless of the conditions since you will pay anyway). If you go for a two-dives excursion but decide to cancel the second one once onboard, after the first one, because you feel unwell, don’t expect any discount or voucher of course. Regardless of how many dives you make, how recurring a customer you can be, don’t expect this diving center to have the slightest commercial flexibility. You’re just a regular cash cow tourist. Too bad… fortunately there are other very good diving centers nearby, with very friendly staff as well.

Two of our party were diving with Ocean Spirit. They had a wonderful time diving with Rogier, Jo, Bernard and Nando. The sites were beautiful and everything was relaxed (island style). Communication is direct and clear. A lot of dives are filmed by Jill and can be watched on YouTube. We would recommend diving in Mauritius to everyone, wonderful island, the people are hospitable and nice and the nature (both above and underwater) is beautiful !

Ocean Spirit is an excellent dive center. I visited in early January 2024 and dove 5 days, 10 dives, mostly with the experienced guides Roger and Bernard, who could spot the smallest and most camouflaged creatures. The skipper Jovany was capable and the dive boat comfortable. Jill and Kritika made reservations and logistics a breeze. The dive shop has an atmosphere of camaraderie that I enjoyed as a single diver. I highly recommend diving in Mauritius and doing it with Ocean Spirit.
