👍👍 The staff is very professional and friendly. Food was so good that we came back there for more. Tried whale and reindeer steaks and thoroughly enjoyed both. Mussels starter was also amazing and full of flavour and to top the experience we spoiled ourselves with delicious chocolate fondant. People often mention beer, local, nice, whale, atmosphere, Great,

It was Christmas time. Limited restaurants were open, with even limited timings and almost all of them required advance reservations. This restaurant accepted us at a very short notice! My goal was to try authentic local food. So, tried whale and seal for the first time ever - thoroughly enjoyed it; reindeer shank was delicious as well. Both items used local ingredients and kept it minimalistic, focussing on flavor.

An institution as a local bar, thats all this place is, just for beer! The food were fast-food quality that took over 30 mins. We had lunch there, tried the stockfish soup 155kr and the bacalao 185kr. The soup is similar to Cup-A-Soup with few bits of stockfish, salty with artificial taste. Same with the bacalao which was cooked with canned crushed tomato & black olives, no spices, sour & slightly off taste of bad olives and bad paprika powder.

Great beer selection but food average. Burger was undercooked and had to be sent back.

Kind of old school bar and restaurant in Trosmo, connected to multiple restautants, food was good, liked the atmosphere and beer selection was great

BIFFHUS, first thing to say is that the food is fantastic, with a price that fits the quality (110€ for three courses and two glasses of wine). One criticism of the service: we arrived at 9.30pm, half an hour before the kitchen closed. we couldn't order all the dishes we wanted and they didn't give us any more bread because "the kitchen was closed".

Good spot to get a bite. I tried the whale steak, and it was very similar to roast beef. Portions were decent. The potatoes and vegetables that came with it were a bit plain, and I wasn't a big fan of them.

Very nice beef restaurant in the hearth of Tromso. Taste and degree on frying was excellent. Price was bearable considering it's Norway. Nice location an place seems to be open also on holidays, which is definitely positive aspect for tourists.

I think this is one of those times where I was so set on having a dish that I didn't stop to think is this the best place for the dish. Reindeer meat not being something I can get at home. You tend to just want it it because you can get it. The service was nice. and the place is more than adequate. When I come back with to Tromso with a more open mind. The food was good.. and the dessert was pretty amazing . The place deserves a second pass and I would not hesitate if someone suggested we go there. If offers a variety of out there options I just need to listen to the waiter more.

We stumbled across Skarven and are very glad we did! Very friendly atmosphere and for the 40-70 yr old crowd of locals, we felt we fit right in. A nice warm welcoming atmosphere for everyone. We enjoyed nice large local beer on tap with our whale steak and beef stew dinners. Nice fireplace and nautical (and cormorant decor)! Please note if you go… seat yourself (note the number on the table) and then go to the bar to order your food/drink and pay. The server will bring your food to your table. All ages welcome… enjoy a great local haunt!

Pretty nice food and great variety of beer. Did not realised they have reindeer meat here but probably will try if we do visit again. One of the nice place frequented by locals and is open till quite late. Order at the bar and they will serve you the food.

Delicious soup, lovely vibe and helpful staff. Nothing to complain about other than the Norwegian prices but that's not specific to them !

Great food. Had the Bacalao and it really made my day. Nice selection of local beer. Friendly, relaxed staff. Already thinking of coming back to try some other things...

We had lunch here on a Sunday as nothing else was open in the area. Place is quite nice but the menu is quite limited, there are only few dishes and no vegetarian options at all. Food was neither spectacular nor tasty (bread of the burger was cold). I wouldn’t recommend it.

Love this place. Right on the dock in Tromsø. Great food and a fantastic selection of beer. If you’re from the UK and visiting here be prepared for the hefty prices, about £10 for a pint 😬

This is a staple in Tromsø. A very popular cafe/ restaurant that is visited by both locals and tourists. They serve yummy, traditional, local fish dishes, as well as a couple of continental courses. The inside of the cafe is very cozy with a nautical feel, and the tables outside have a great view (but you have to keep an eye on your food so the seagulls don't grab it). There is sometimes live music on a small stage, and this is a great place to taste the local beer, as well as Skarven's own cognac label. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and know a lot about the food and drink options. I recommend this cafe both for dining alone and with friends in a laid back atmosphere.

👍 Had an amazing fish soup as an appetizer and fish and chips for main! The soup was really good, I am definitely taking that fish soup as my main course when I visit next time! They had a lot of steak options too, but I was definitely in for the best cod you can get part of Norway!

😐 Average pizza, very dry on the edges. Calzones had way too much cheese and not much flavour. The coke tasted like it’s been watered down. The place is spacious and don’t need to reserve in advance. Needed to wait nearly an hour for a pizza and a calzone, though the place was not even half full. It s...

👍👍 We had a booking for Saturday evening, and I'm glad we did as it was very busy. We got 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert and 2 cocktails for 1630NOK (£130). Everything was delicious, but the reindeer stake was one of the best things I've ever eaten. So much flavour! The restaurant is very cosy and the...
