We had the worst Fish Stew and service. The Fish stew had no fish and it was full of flavourless cream and onions. We asked 2 times for bread to the waiter since no bread was offered since the beginning. There were no napkins offered and no cutters. We had to wait 1 hour for our food, and other customers that arrived after us were getting served first than us. At the end when we were asked if everything was fine, I said my feedback about the Fish Stew and the waiter had the guts to ask me for a tip when I asked for the check… Well, so be it. We will never go back to that place and I hope other customers don’t have to experience the same service.

Our lunch was really tasty. Price is reasonable too. Waitress is friendly and polite. Great location which is near to bus stop. Restaurant has a good sea view.

Fantastic dining experience at Full Steam. The design of the building is very unique and the ambience is really good with candles on every table. The food is the real highlight for our dinner. We had Minke Whale dish and a reindeer stew. The whale was really special, chewy, tender and taste very good. Definitely recommend this dish if you are in Norway and have never experience whale meat (worth to try at least once in a lifetime). Overall, great experience. Would recommend if you are in Tromso and will come back again if I am back here again.

I was pleasantly surprised with the food in this restaurant after trying a few other restaurant in Tromso. We had the whale and the lamb and they were both cooked perfectly. The sides were also really tasty and they matched so well with each dish! Totally recommend and would definitely go back! Portions are also really good.

Good restaurant. It’s an old big wooden house with nice atmosphere and decoration. We tried whale meat and it’s surprisingly good. Taste quite like beef but has a distinct flavour like game meat so if you don’t like game meat, you most likely won’t like whale meat. (I don’t but my bf likes it a lot). Cod tongue is good. The sauce goes well with the fish. The stockfish pot is a bit too sweet and sour. Service is nice. I don’t really enjoy the way they guilt you into tipping though.

Very nice, local place. It has a lot of the expected tradicional dishes. We got to try smoked whale but also a whale stake which was very well prepared! The taste is very meaty. We also tried some of the smoked caviar and lamb. The lamb dish was huge. Large plates. The price is also good for the quality and amount of food per dish. Prices of beers are also very average. The service was good, very international staff and it was very easy to book a table. The skin cos chips were very nice and tasty, I really recommend to try them.

Amazing restaurant with a very cozy vibe and delicious menu options. The portions were substantial and you are getting what you pay for in terms of quality and amount—we couldn't even finish one of our dishes (after appetizers). Staff was kind and friendly. Like most places in Tromsø, credit cards are accepted. Food was delicious. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

The food at lunchtime was wonderful! Stopped in for a late lunch! The poor lady was run off her feet whilst other staff seemed to be doing nothing, but the food more than made up for it! We had the fishcakes and reindeer sausage and it was very tasty!

It was quite a good taste, although, I find the cod fish was a little bit dry, but the taste is still great. The whale meat is surprisingly good and a must try. This is not for everyone, so if you want to skip it, you can try their other menus. We also had 5 selection of beers and our favorite is the IPA.

Great food with cozy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful for the menu details. The location was great near by the Tromso bridge.

Great relaxing atmosphere and excellent food and service! The wait staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home. They have a museum attached which you can also book a story teller to talk your through everything. This is a must-go-to place! And book ahead as they seem to stay busy.

Great staff and amazing food. Loved the whale steak. They have a beautiful piston espresso machine, but unfortunately I think I’ve had the worst espresso in my life here. Couldn’t even finish it. Was pretty disappointed; please train your staff to use the machine properly

Amazing restaurante with a great view. The service was amazing, I ordered a salmon and it was delicious. The atmosphere is incredible, with wood decoration style. Just a bit expensive.. but in tromso that’s the rule ..

Great service cosy friendly homely restaurant full of family vibes Looks like an old English pub Food must be great at the local standard Very Nordic style with rich and salty taste on the grill salmon with the vegetables are rather lack of taste While the fish soup or fish stew is super rich tomato based taste throughout One can only conclude this is the taste style in Nordics

The best thing on the menu is the cheesecake. Don't bother with the rest but come for dessert. The 'cheese' or cream part had an unusual consistency (maybe goat cheese?) which I haven't encountered in a cheesecake before. It balanced perfectly with the tangy cloudberries on the side. The rest of the menu is not bad - just limited. You can order whale but the starter is rather bland in composition, and the main course with whale is more butter than whale. What marred my experience was the service - unhelpful and a bit rude. Check your bill. We were charged twice for one dish. I was excited to come here and check out the building but based on this visit I wouldn't return. Would also not recommend if you have dietary restrictions.

Had the whale steak and it was a different experience for me personally, it was good! They have all these options unique in tromsø to try out - the reindeer stew, whale steak, cod tongue. They have a museum within the restaurant and was well preserved! The place looks like a heritage fishing place and it is well maintained now as a beautiful restaurant!

A marvellous restaurant with top notch hospitality, local delicacy and unique interiors. ❤️ I very much enjoyed both my starter and main course. The size of the meal was quite generous which is why I had to skip dessert, sadly. 🥲 The prices were also pretty decent in Tromsø standards. I recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone who is after a true Norwegian food experience and can’t wait to revisit next time! 😊

Very nice place with beautiful interior. Very friendly waiters, good beer and very tasty food. If you like Norwegian food, fresh fish (which my girlfriend had) or reindeer (which I had), you will be pleased here. We will come back :)

Tried the Cod Tongue, Reindeer Stew and the Fish Pot for dinner and the Reindeer Stew is quite good. Staff are very friendly and is a pity we never make any booking so we were seated at the ground floor. You can come by 5pm to experience the museum (see pic) to enjoy Northern Lights Gallery, tasting etc. By the way, the harbour view outside is spectacular at night.

Only in Norway you will order the catch of the day and receive Salmon. Incredible, prepared with mushrooms, and smashed potatoes. As aperitif I had smoked whale. My first time and loved it with the crackers and sauce. Different tap beers available, where you can order different small cups for trying.

We had full steam caviar for the starter, a bit salty and strong taste. Then we had catch of the day - Salmon, and reindeer stew. I have to say the salmon was cook just about right, the skin was so crispy and the rest was just so tender. Highly recommend this dish. Reindeer stew was good but comparing to the salmon, wasn’t as good.

Superlative experience! We ate outside in warm August afternoon enjoying the Tromsø atmosphere. My partner had halibut and I ate whale. Both meals were very tasty, with mouth watering mash and vegetables. Whale was superb as was also the halibut. The local beer super delicious.

Loved the fish soup (best I had and it's refreshing) and reindeer stew! Nice decor too. Though we didn't like to be pressured into tipping - waiter stood and stared at us while we paid using the card machine.

The personnel let us in even before our reservation which was very appreciated. The reindeer stew was amazing just like the caviar and the cod. 100% would return.

Good place, and decent food for the money. Lunch "Dish of the week" had very good value. Gluten-free bread crackers available too. My main criticism is the 100NOK added to the bill for extra potatoes by the waiter at dinner, she did not mention this price upon ordering, which is not a fair price for potatoes. I had very good experience with the Indian waiter, very experienced and great customer service, so therefore I will give my experience 4 stars overall.

Restaurant with an enveloping atmosphere and furnished with suggestive vintage stuff. Soft pop background music. Lamb is excellent, but there are some very interesting fish dishes. Very courteous staff

Best lunch in town we've had in Tromsø. Everything was beyond expectation. The fish soup was a culinary highlight. Nice service, cosy athmosphere, good selection of wines --- recommended big time!!
