Terrible experience. The only thing we didn’t like about beautiful Tromsø is this hotel. If we could turn back time we’d never have stayed there. First, there is a club (the main club in Tromso, we were lucky) which works till 1:30 am on Thursday and till 3:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays. It doesn’t matter if you’re on the last floor, if your room is above this club and even if you’re using earplugs, believe me, you won’t sleep and on the next morning you’ll feel totally destroyed. If that information doesn’t stops you from staying in this hotel, at least avoid rooms 417-430, 517-530, 617-630, 717-730, 817-830. And if you have some hope that hotel staff will help you, forget about it, they have a policy of not changing rooms “because our boss will be very angry us if he knows”. They literally told us that they have free rooms in the other part of the hotel, but they won’t change rooms for us. That’s one of the worst examples of client service and attitude that I’ve ever experienced. They would offer you earplugs, but you’ll hear music anyway as well as feel vibrations from the bass. If you’re lucky to live in rooms like 401-410, 501-510 etc. you’ll need earplugs anyway because you’ll hear anything happening above you, under you. There is no such thing as sound isolation in this hotel, your neighbours would wake up you anyway when they just enter their rooms, passing by etc. At the breakfast you’ll see sad people who had lack of sleep, you’ll also meet them at reception desk complaining on this situation. The hotel knows about this problem and they can’t do anything about this, but you can do something not to ruin your vacation. Don’t repeat our mistake, don’t choose this hotel.

Went with my hubby for anniversary I paid for a ocean view and didn’t get it when I told the young lady in the reception she was super rude and sarcastic, I requested to speak with a manager and she told me that someone will talk to me and that never happen so for my that was really bad , the breakfast was really good also the employees that work in the breakfast area were excellent, so for the receptionist I gave one star for service I think the hotel is really good to have employees like her I spent a lot of money making the reservation for one of “the best room and at the end didn’t get it “. Hotel is in a good area close to everything, you can walk late during the night and all the surrounding areas are very safe, taxi is accessible, you can easy go to the airport since they have a bus that takes you to the airport I think each 15 or 30 min. The room I paid for was one of the biggest room and it was really nice just the view wasn’t what I paid for , and the room was exactly facing the main door of the hotel so you can hear in the room all the noise and all the people talking loud out in the street even when we were above the 3rd floor

Extremely bad service! No one make up our room and the water sink is blocked! Heating is almost none. And the room feels freezing. Most insane hotel manager and bad service! Early morning at 7:05AM, The manager stopped us to use our own bowl to carry breakfast simply because we don’t have time to dine in there and need to eat on the way. I explained to her that we have a ferry to catch and don’t have time to sit in and eat. We need to eat in our car on the way. But she still refuse and ask us to pay. Even though the hotel fare we paid already covers the breakfast. She’s extremely rude and didn’t want to hear our explanation and her staff surrounds me as if they are going to arrest me. The manager must have learned how to manage a hotel and treat people from her experiences managing a prison where everyone must eat and drink at designated places and listen to her order. Insane hotel manager and stupid place! Avoid at all cost! I think she went ahead to charge me extra anyways! So watch out for your bill cause they may charge you extra without your consent! This hotel should not be called Scandic cause this is Scandal for sure!!!!!

It’s not a good choice. Reception and people working on breakfast really rude. No manners at all! It’s like they forgot that they are working in hospitality. As far as the rooms is concerned, they are hideous! Bathroom old and dirty! Location wise is good, but this counts for all the other hotels in city centre. Don’t go there

Nice hotel, but the room was somewhat more dirty than I'm used to at Scandic hotels.

Thinking of a very unwelcoming hotel? Here’s the place. Rude staff as of the very beginning. Asked for 2 beds and gave twice the wrong room. We gave up and had to separate the beds ourselves and sleep w/ no bad sheets and there was only one set. There no room service and telephone to get in touch w reception. No help w/ luggage and made us go up the stairs when there was a lift to take us to our exact room level. No guidance as to what time and where the breakfast was served (we missed and we didn’t realize it was included) neither other facilities. The worst hotel in Europe so far… Only location is good.

We had a spacious room in the upper floors wirh edge views. Check-In was okey but nothing special. The hotel itself is located in the centre of Tromsø, so we hadn‘t any issues to go around. We only have to issues with this place: -the hotel has no parking lots, so you have to park in the big tunnel garage with a big price tag of 36$ per day… this is just ridiculous🙈 -breakfast is not served before 8am… far to late when one considers that on saturdays most of the guests leave. It was extremely crowded, we felt like being in a locust swarm…

It's an okay hotel and we got a big family room on the 7th floor. But we stayed there a weekend and there was a nightclub in the basement, that kept us up all night with heavy bass. If you need sleep, don't go there on the weekends. If you're going clubbing 10/10 would recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this magnificent hotel, and I cannot sing its praises enough. From the great room to the delightful breakfast and stunning views, every aspect of my stay was nothing short of exceptional. Spectacular Room Views (5/5): One of the highlights of this hotel is undoubtedly the breathtaking views from the rooms. Whether you're overlooking the city skyline, a tranquil garden, or the sparkling waterfront, each room offers a visual feast that elevates the overall experience. Waking up to such panoramic beauty is an absolute treat for the senses. Luxurious Accommodations (5/5): The rooms are a haven of comfort and style. Impeccably designed with modern furnishings and soothing color schemes, they provide a retreat where relaxation is paramount. The attention to detail, from the high-quality linens to the well-appointed bathrooms, showcases a commitment to guest satisfaction. Culinary Delights at Breakfast (5/5): The hotel's breakfast deserves a standing ovation. The variety and quality of the offerings surpassed my expectations. From freshly baked pastries to a selection of local and international dishes, each bite was a culinary delight. The attentive staff ensured that every guest's breakfast experience was not just a meal but a gastronomic journey. Attentive Service (5/5): The hotel staff's dedication to providing top-notch service was evident throughout my stay. They were not only professional but also warm and welcoming. Whether it was the front desk, housekeeping, or the restaurant staff, everyone went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met with a smile. Convenient Location (5/5): Situated in a prime location, the hotel offers easy access to key attractions, making it a perfect choice for both business and leisure travelers. Despite being centrally located, the rooms remained a peaceful haven, allowing for a restful night's sleep. In conclusion, this hotel is a five-star gem that sets the bar high for luxury accommodations. The combination of stunning room views, sumptuous breakfast options, and impeccable service creates an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a discerning traveler or someone looking for a special getaway, this hotel exceeds expectations in every way. I wholeheartedly recommend it for an indulgent and memorable stay.

Wonderful hotel in Central Tromso. The buffet breakfast is absolutely worth the cost. Huge amount of different food and coffee, only issue is the food choice doesn’t change so after a week of eating the same food it got a tad boring. The staff were fabulous, very helpful. The only issue with the room was the foldout couch was very unsupportive and uncomfortable, we were offered an extra mattress which helped a bit, but I think, if you’re going to offer rooms with multiple beds, they should be proper beds. Very cost effective accommodation in a great location.

The Scandic Hotel was a great experience! Markus and Oscar helped us (on a Sunday) to send a parcel back home! Very courteous guys! Thanks, guys, for your help! The breakfast buffet was incredible, too! Everything to start a cyclists day! Our room was clean and spacious. As we unboxed our bikes, the lady at the front desk allowed us to leave the boxes at the hotel. Really friendly staff and a great buffet! Would go there again.

Lots of noise from the bar! Nice clean hotel with good breakfast. Bar under the hotel makes a lot of noise until late night. Even on the 6th floor sleeping is impossible. Too bad the hotel doesn't warn about it. If you want to sleep take another hotel!

Decent hotel. Clean room and in city center. Staff were a little rude when we checked in- questioned if we had 2 rooms booked when my partner and I were checking into hotel.

Apart from good location, everything else is just pathetic. First of all, the staff are just so unwelcoming and busy with their computers. You would think you are going to the wrong place because of their lack of courtesy. My goodness! This is by far the worst hotel service i have come across here in Norway. The room was cold when we got here and the water took forever to get warm. The trash bins were never emptied the next day and when we complained to the lady kristine at the front desk, she didn’t seem interested with our welfare. Sadly considering she represents the hotel when she is seated there but she does not know that. This hotel lacks good management and because of that the service is just poor and the staff are so cold. I would rather pay a few extra kroners next time and be in a better place than this. I do not recommend this place at all. I am not sure if this is how things work in all the scandic hotels but this will always be a no no for me.

First: The first impression was good. Nice and warm welcome. We got to our room which was a family 4 room. We were promised a view...the view was an amazing sight of the neighbouring hotels wall and ventilation system. If I were an engineer, it would have been lovely. Second: It took 5 minutes for the water to get warm enough. While talking to a not very interested member of staff, who was more occupied with looking at the screen of her computer, I was told that it was due to many people showering at the same time. Several times a day apparently. The person I talked to is called Kristine. I found out she is mentioned quiet some times in other reviews...must be a crazy coincidence!!! Third: We were out of our rooms from mid day until evening and the staff did not manage to take out the trash in the bathroom, nor in the living room. Very nice considering the amazing diapers we had left behind some hours earlier (in the trash bin of course). The trash and diapers were removed after we went to the reception and asked them to do so. All in all...we did not get what we paid for. Avoid this hotel, there are so many better in Tromsø.

Everything about this hotel is just amazing. We were on the 8th floor and the view is to die for! The restaurant is decorated so beautifully with a great breakfast spread! I was there with my family during Christmas 2022, just blown away with the experience. Tromso is the most beautiful city I think ❤❤just total love

This hotel is at an excellent location and the breakfast is amazing! My family and I stayed for just 2 nights during New Year’s Eve and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The rooms are not as big and nice as the other Scandic we stayed at Helsinki, but still had everything we needed, was comfortable and clean. We had an easy check in and check out. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the menu is a little limited. We had the fish soup (which was pretty good) and the service was impeccable. Special thanks to Bruno, our waiter who was so kind and helpful.

Good hôtel. Rooms are comfortable with good beds. Shower's door quite old some parts of our room should need a bit refreshments. Night club at first floor very loud on Saturdays. Nice view over the town. Wifi sometimes not working. Good breakfast. Offers very early breakfast for us at 4:30am while leaving at 5am

When checking in at midnight after getting off the ferry the most important thing appeared to be extracting payment from us rather than assisting us up the steps into the hotel. Travelling with a disabled person through snow and icy conditions this was very disappointing. Rooms were ok but small, no wardrobes. Breakfast was good but again you are very much on your own.

I enjoyed staying here for 2 nights in December with my husband. Very clean, very comfortable bed, nice view (we were on the highest 8th floor), fantastic breakfast. Super central which was great but it was also quiet at night. I recommend it and would stay here again.

We were placed in a room next to the cleaning/towel supplies, which was loud very early including leaving the door to fall in the lock (worse would be only slamming the door shut). I would appreciate notifying me about the proximity of this room during the check in. The rooms are small, but functional. As it’s stated in the standard room description there is a queen bed and they take the freedom of listing those with 120-160 cm width, the international standard size is 160x200 cm), and our room felt more like a valet size (140x200 cm). Breakfast is quite diverse and tasteful with quite some typical Norwegian dishes. Nevertheless it would be nice to place lights that keep the dishes warm above some of the dishes (f.e. scrambled eggs), and put the right temperature to the soft boiled eggs avoiding both of the egg baths making them hard boiled. Overall was our stay quite pleasant, but could do with some improvements.

The breakfast buffet had a variety of food. Be it gluten free, vegan or meat/fish lovers. Everyone will find something for his/her taste. The room had enough space, and since we were in the 8th floor it was more quite. The view was amazing. The room also contains a water cooker, some teas and instant coffee, as well as a TV and cups. They even offer you a free laundry room, with free usage of the washing machine, drying machine and ironing. The staff was super friendly, and the check in was uncomplicated. I really recommend to go here.

Nice hotel in the center of the city. Cosy and clean room. Close to both shopping, restaurants and the harbour. Good breakfast with lots of choices. Also a nice variety of gluten free, lactose free and dairy free yogurt, milk and bread. The only thing we wished would be better is information about parking. The hotel does not have any parking of their own. The instructions were not helpful and we spent an hour driving around town trying to find the parking they recommended. Finally we made it to a huge parking garage. But there was no instructions on English or any other language about how to get in, how to pay and what rules they have there. No phone number to call for help. It's quite expensive parking too.

Not great, not terrible. Good breakfast. No air-con. No lock on bathroom door. Faucet and shower door broken.

Do not come to this hotel. In contrast to other Scandic, this is has been a disaster. The hotel has absolutely no noise insulation, there is a club on the lower floor that propagates the noise up to our room in the 4th floor like there is a party next door, past 1 am . Even earplugs didn't get rid of the bass, It's that loud. We booked a room through booking specifying two people with 2 beds, they gave us a room with only one bed. We asked the reception if they could change us to one with two beds and they said there it was non available, while booking was showing there was.

  • 2/5 Kristina B. 1 year ago on Google
Avoid this hotel if you are looking for a good night sleep. There is a club just beneath the hotel and the party is on until 3:30 am every Friday and Saturday. If you are unlucky to get the room just above, even if you are couple of floors up, there won't be any peace. I mentioned this to the receptionist, but she was kind of "we are aware, but there's nothing much to do".

  • 2/5 Kristian H. 2 years ago on Google
Ok hotell. Average (minus) on service and hospitality. Noisy rooms towards the main street, so try to change rooms if you are placed in one of these. The very central location of the hotel is the greatest asset together with that one guy on nightwatch in the reception that was actually smiling.

We had great reception. The people who work there are very kind and open and asked us immediately if we ever been to Tromsø before and gave us some sights to see while there. Breakfast had a lot of variations plus the room was big enough. Last but least, even the technician was a kind person. One of our lights didn't work. Though we didn't know the switch was next to the bed. The note i left to show which light seem broken, later was turned over with a message that the switch was next to the bed. Definitely will be coming back

We paid 2000 NOK for a standard room in the 4th floor, with noise from the street party lasting after 1:30 am. The hotel doesn’t offer any services, no tea/coffee in the room. Bathroom is old. Pillow is too flat. We’re deeply ripped off by this outdated 2-star quality. It does feel dusty in the infrastructure as other reviews. This is very different from what I imagine a hotel charging 2000 NOK/night.

  • 1/5 Tom W. 1 year ago on Google
A nightclub on the first floor is playing loud house music until 1:30am. The bass was making our bed vibrate and we were on the 7th floor. The clearly embarrassed receptionist offered us gift vouchers and ear plugs. If you like to party, a good place to stay. If you want to sleep, stay somewhere else.

Well-situated, right in front of the bus stop of the airport shuttle (~10 mins to the airport), and a 5-minute walk to the city centre and the port. Nice, clean room and a wide range of choices for breakfast. I would definitely stay there again.

  • 4/5 D S. 2 years ago on Google
We had a nice family room on the 8th floor with harbor view. The breakfast is really good with a broad selection. The only reason I deducted one star is that we were first assigned a mini room on the 4th floor with street view, no water boiler etc. - only upon discussion with the reception we got a (much) better room. This flexibility by the reception staff was good in turn. So overall recommendable.

  • 4/5 Matt B. 1 year ago on Google
Clean, comfortable rooms. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Blackout curtains work but still some light creeps in around the edges, especially along the floor. Great selection at breakfast, though it can get pretty chaotic at busy times and you may have to wait for a table. Be warned there is a noisy club downstairs so try and request a room higher up. Also no maintenance on weekends, so if your fridge breaks down, you have to wait.

  • 3/5 Vika B. 2 years ago on Google
Hotel is a bit older. Yet the stuff here is super friendly and it is located in the centre. There is a common space and dedicated area for smoking (a balcony with the nice view to the mountains) The room was a bit dusty, and music from the bar beside hotel, was loud, but bar works only during weekends.

  • 5/5 Jane C. 2 years ago on Google
Nice hotel in an excellent location. 1 block from mall and airport bus stop. Breakfast buffet was very good! Room was a little small, but perfect for a 5 night stay for 2 people. We will definitely return to this hotel next time.
