Was worth 10 soles + 5 for the museum (can't take pics). You don't need to pay a tour guide company. Ask for a bus (public bus - walk towards a busy street that has many buses and you will find one that goes directly there). 2 soles is the cost.

Very interesting archeological site. Must do when in Trujillo. Unfortunately we were added to a spanish tour. When asked if there are also english tours it was said to us that we need to arrange this at the ticket counter - but there no one made us aware of it.

Very cool ruin. Much better than my visit to Chan Chan. The museum is worth a visit as well. Great window into the Moche life.

Very interesting ruins. Excavations are ongoing with very well preserved depictions of gods and humans as well as ancient artefacts that are currently situated in the museum close by (same ticket). Definitely recommend visiting - wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes as well as hat + sunblock if visiting as most of it is outdoors.

Guide is compulsory, no roaming around free. It would be interesting to see what’s hidden from the public, or what’s currently “under investigation” and closed off.

It costs around 10 solas to enter and you must be escorted by a guide. The place is gorgeous and surprised me at how much detail there was. However, the tour doesn't last too long and there's not much else to to in the area.

Impressing carved and painted figures. The Moche culture is interesting. They have only excavated the La Luna pyramide. The sun pyrsmide is not excavated.

For those who plan on visiting Trujillo, this is a great little place to visit for the morning. Discovered in 1998, they have done a nice job to depict stories and preserve the frescoes. There are steps going up to the site and little souvenir trinkets at the base.

The carvings had some of the most impressive colors we've seen for a site from this time frame. We took an English tour and it was great, he gave us some very good insight into the Moche people.

Great site, good guide (Spanish only), and really good restaurant. Also, there are fantastic ceramics made by locals in the gift shop to check out. Pro tip: go to the museum first before the actual site!

A nice piece of history from the Moche civilization from 100 to 700 AD. This temple still has the original colours on the wall paintings. Visiting the museum + temple takes about 2 hours. Would recommend to take a guide with you. (there are also a few english speaking guides)

Really cool place. Was 15 soles for entry and the museum too, it is also compulsory to enter with a guide and a tip is required for them also as they are volunteers. However, the guide was great and definitely worth it to be able to understand the site. It is easily accessible with a combi for 2 soles or a taxi for 12.

Impressive place massive proportions. It's a must while in this region. Tour takes about 50 minutes. Tipping the guide and entrance fee is only 10 soles. Did not know you must buy the ticket at the on site museum prior.

Great place. Felt like we had the whole archeological site to ourselves + the tour guide. Never seen antique walls and ceremics in such prestine condition given the age.

If you are in the north of Peru, I recommend making the effort to view this site along with Chan Chan! You can catch a collectivo from Trujillo easily for only a few Sol. Also tourism students provide a volunteer tour guide service. Our guide here was the best we have had in Peru. Amazing!

  • 2/5 Florent 10 months ago on Google
The visit with the English guide lasted 25mn instead of 1h20. I would have prefer pay a real guide instead of rushing the temple. Too bad because I think there is many things to say about it.

(Translated by Google) The museum and the Huaca itself are very interesting. The place is also well cared for, with a kiosk, very clean bathrooms and souvenir sales. The guide service is paid separately but it is worth it. It is a pity that so few tourists come to meet, they do not know what they are missing. (Original) El museo y la misma Huaca son muy interesantes. El lugar está además bien cuidado, con kiosko, baños muy limpios y venta de recuerdos. El servicio de guía se paga aparte pero vale la pena. If you only see one archeological site in the area, see this one. The colours are incredible, and unlike anything I’ve seen in Peru. The guide was very knowledgeable. We loved our visit.

Impecable maintenance of the grounds with ample parking and clean bathrooms. The guide was knowledgeable and very welcoming. The ruins are still being excavated. However, the majority of what is shown is incredible. Lovely visit. It does involve some walking up hill to get to the ruins (less than 5 minutes). Once You get to the ruins, most of the tour is shaded and well organized. Highly recommended. Also, the small museum on site is a definite must do. Brings the whole thing together.

  • 5/5 Kary H. 4 years ago on Google
The full site under excavation but what you could see, is breath taking. I loved our guide who was very knowledgeable and friendly. The walk up to the ruins is a bit steep but less than 5 minutes. Once you are in the tour group, the ruins are covered and the walk is easy and protected from the elements. It's a must do when you are in this area. There is ample parking, clean restrooms, small shop that sell refreshments and memorabilia, and a lovely little museum on site. I will definitely return to see the progress of the excavation and bring the rest of my family.
