Sometimes I feel simply 5* wouldn't do justice. This place could easily deserve 10+*. This is an ancient archaeological site that was occupied from preceramic times. The Chicama Valley can be considered as an archaeological microcosm. Huaca Prieta is the earliest part of the complex but the biggest constructions on the site belong to the Moche culture. In this area, there are also the remains of the later Lambayeque and Chimú. The site is very nicely developed, very well maintained, and the information system (including, of course, guides) is very good. The open air displays as well as the museum is amazing. Not to be missed.

Not quite as impressive size wise as some of the other archeological sites we had visited. However the number of tombs discovered so far really give an insight to the changing burial techniques over time. A lack of funds has temporarily stopped any further excavation. If you visit Peru it is still worth the effort.

(Translated by Google) A well-preserved museum with fascinating architecture. The price to enter the museum is minimal and it has tourist guides. This museum has a mystical history and has great panoramic views. You learn a lot of new things about Mrs. Cao. You can go with family or friends. The ancient Huaca Cortada (100 to 700 AD) is visible 500 meters beyond the Museo Cao site museum at the Complejo arqueológico El Brujo in northern Perú. Huaca Cortada is an adobe Moche stepped truncated pyramid 22 meters high. The gash on the front of the pyramid may have been made by grave robbers. The Complejo arqueológico El Brujo is famous for the ancient Moche murals on Huaca Cao Viejo which were created by first laying down a thick layer of mud on which the design was drawn. Then a thin layer of color was applied. One of these ancient Moche mural may show a supernatural being half bird and half snake. Another features the principal Moche diety Aiapaec (the Decapitator).

Pyramids nowhere near as impressive as later Inca, Azrec or Mayan structures and they have been greatly eroded by rain. However the excavations show an advanced culture fir ghe time. The museum gives an excellent interpretation and there is a room full of gold clothing, ornaments etc that the Spaniards missed giving us all a better insight into the distant. past

If you're. Interested in keep learning about Peruvian history, this is a good to do it. Before visited Chan Chan or Huaca del Sol y la Luna, you should visited Huaca El Brujo to hear about La Señora de Cao. Wear sneakers and bring some sunscreen.

Impressive place. Most tourists who visit Peru just think of Machu Picchu and Cusco region. There is a whole other previous culture in other parts of Peru. The Moche people. It is a must to visit at least three or four of their sites.

A tranquil pyramid on the beach with green fields in the background was home to the Lady of Cao. This is the location of the first discovery of a female ruler in Peru from ancient time. This was my favorite tour I took from Trujillo or a tie with the pyramid of the moon because although more small or less excavated, the oceanfront location boosts its rating

With a comprehensive collection of artifacts from diverse cultures, the exhibits are thoughtfully organized and the ambiance is serene. A bit difficult to get to if using public transportation and aren't from here, but worth it if you have an entire day to spend and the nearby town is also very nice. It has several huacas (clay pyramids) that you can visit, a brand new museum, gift shop and nearby beach. Bring a hat, water and sunscreen! The view from the top of the pyramid by the museum is also a great place to put into perspective the tremendous amount of archaeological looting of Peru that took place in the past and is still occurring. It's really a wonder Lady Cao survived intact with all her gold for us to learn about and be in awe of today.

Great museum and information from the guide in Spanish around the site about the history was excellent. Also lots of English signs up with information to read. Only a small gift shop with a variety of souvenirs, chocolate and soft drinks to buy. Opportunity to dress up and have a photo for a small fee as well as a further tour of the magical well with a shame for another fee.

(Translated by Google) Spectacular, it is one of the most beautiful and best cared museums in the country, in addition, the first Sunday of each month is free to visit it, I recommend paying a private guide (the gentlemen from outside who charge comfortable prices per person) so that it is worth visiting it knowing a Little of history, the tour lasts about 40 minutes since it is small but it is worth going ... I recommend going with your own mobility since it is located in an area far from the city.
