We had a great time hanging out and staying the night on the beach. Pulled up close enough to the water, built a small fire (this was in March) ate good and relaxed. Very reasonable entry fee. Easy to drive through the sand and find a spot. (We were there on a Tues) Great little getaway.

Really great campground. Sites are very spread out, well maintained with a grill / firepit, and a covered picnic table on a concrete slab. Sites are very flat and mostly level. Extremely clean facilities with flush toilets and nice hot showers. There are many other vault toilets found throughout campground. Electric hook up site with water was $14.00 plus $4.00 online booking fee for "reservation sites" (which was all of them). You can SEE other campers due to the low desert vegetation, but otherwise don't hear them. views of the water and mountains are great. Also saw some interesting quail, lizards and a bunny rabbit!

We enjoyed our three night stay here and liked exploring the area and learning about the history of the park. We also did some kayaking before the wind picked up too much.

It feels like your miles away from anywhere, but super close to anything you need. The views are amazing, the campgrounds are clean and spacious. They have showers, toilets, and hookups. I will definitely be coming back again. Stayed for 10 days, during Christmas time and it was very relaxed.

For a five dollar entry fee you can spend the day at one of the most beautiful places in New Mexico. It's a bit rustic, latrines mostly if not completely, but you can camp right on the beach which is so amazing. The water is clean, very warm, and perfect for swimming. We went about 8 days total during our 20 days in New Mexico.

Elephant Butte Lake State Park has been one of our favorite campgrounds so far. The campground is very well laid out. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great views, great places to walk, our dog Rocky gives it five stars too The only thing I would add, is that the showers; I wish the water was hotter and that you didn’t have to push the button to keep the water running. I would definitely return to a Elephant in Butte Lake State Park. We stayed at site number three on lower Ridge Road in a 30 foot motorhome. Perfect spot!!

Nice camping, close to Truth or Consequences. Huge picnic pavilion and a kids playground. Electric and water hookup $14/ day. Dispersed camping $7/day.

Beautiful scenery. Not very busy when we visited mid day on a Saturday. Water levels are super low. Was able to walk down to water level using ramp from the historic damsite.

Great park to relax and enjoy the lake (unfortunately at very low water levels). We stayed with our RV at South Montecillo campground, which is actually at the north section of the park. The reason for camping there is because it is close the trail head to the lakeshore path. So, besides camping, swimming and fishing, you can hike an easy trail, but that is long enough (~10 mi) to give you a good work out. And, there are spurs that you can take to walk directly to the water. Also, you can drive right up to the beach and enjoy a good swim. Beautiful scenery!

I squeezed in a couple sites over 3 days. I loved being able to drive my skoolie right on the beach. The staff were more than helpful. Water was gorgeous and clear. The sites were very clean and level. Full hook ups. Very quiet at night. Definitely worth another visit!

We love coming here, it's beautiful and relaxing! Only thing we dislike is there's no shade really anywhere unless you bring your own. Otherwise, we love it and will continue to come here!! It's definitely dog friendly, they have nice picnic areas and the bathrooms are well maintained. If you haven't checked this place out, we highly recommend it!

This place is wonderful and other worldly all at the same time!! Things to know, the dump station and showers are in the desert cove loop, the other comfort station is closed for the season. This place is soo quiet and clear at night and the ability to drive right up to the water is always cool. Nice people, nice beach, nice playground. If you're around, eat lunch by the water. It's so calming! Note, that's not the spot we were in, that's the spot directly across from the playground.

What can I say this place is awesome. Rented a pontoon boat and had a wonderful time with friends and family. The restrooms were relatively clean and so were the showers. It’s pretty much the only large body of water close to El Paso so it’s not the Florida Keys or anything but it’s our little paradise

Review is for campground only. The good: Most sites seemed pretty level; each site has a picnic table, shelter, and fire out. Nice views of the lake and an easy walk or drive to the waters' edge A mix of pit toilets and shower house and flush toilets across the various campgrounds within the park. Adequate dumpsters available. The park seems clean and well kept. Budget friendly, especially for NM State Park Camping Pass holders. The not so good: Can think of anything. It was a very nice place that's on our regular route.

Bathrooms at Hot Springs were not great on Saturday, No toilet paper and the showers were cold. Other wise the experience was good.

We've spent a week here, camping at both Lion's Beach and S. Monticello campgrounds. Clean facilities and a great shower house. We hiked much of the West Lakeshore trail, which is well maintained and full of great views. The lake is down but that allows for long walks on a lovely beach. We even saw the actual Elephant Butte!

So beautiful! Clean beaches for the most part. Some people drive too fast on the beach :( We are from el paso so a lake 2 hours away is awesome

$5.00 dollar entrance fee, Drive up lakeshore, secluded fishing spots, boat rentals, camp sites for reservation, and day use picnic tables. Restrooms/facilities spread out for convenience. The best fishing location by El Paso, TX in my opinion!

Went before sunset to have a look. It was pretty and quiet. I am sure it sees lot of people in summer. Shall visit again when it is warmer...

👍👍 We love the outdoors, especially when there is water in some form to enjoy and this was an ideal place for us. It was very quiet, the surroundings were beautiful and lots of critters to see. There were butterflies everywhere along the shore either resting on the banks, on fallen logs or plants or th...
