We saw this hotel on a third party site and booked it for 3 primary reasons: 1) it was affordable, 2) it had lots of good reviews, and 3) the rooms with different themes and bright colors looked fun. When we arrived to check in, the front desk lady was kind and helpful. But then we got to the room. What looked bright and fun in the pictures online, looked old, worn-out, and threadbare in person. It felt like a hotel room that was many decades old and instead of being kept up and maintained, it was painted-over with bright paint. We didn’t want to put our things on the ground, the beds, the tables, or the counter. Everything felt like it was covered in dust and neglect. The shower drain had no cover, there were no baseboards, there were cracks in the drywall, there was a giant hole in the ceiling over the bed with some kind of blanket stuffed up in it. I spent some time trying to get the window and door coverings closed for a feeling of privacy but was unsuccessful. We felt like we were in a bright orange fish bowl in downtown Truth or Consequences. We spent a total of two minutes in the room and decided there was no way we could sleep there. I went back to the front desk lady and to her credit, she was busy doing laundry. I told her we weren’t comfortable here and returned the key. I asked for our money back and she replied that she would have the manager call us in the morning. Fair enough. I’ll wait for her call. She didn’t call the next morning, so I called a few days later. The same front desk lady said the manager would call the following morning. She did not. I still await the manager’s call. With or without the manager’s follow-up, it is totally worth losing money not to subject my family to the experience we avoided by staying here.

Marc the host was very accommodating. Was very happy with my stay and the room until the day of checkout. Would have given 5 stars but had a very unfortunate encounter that frightened both myself and my wife. In the morning we heard a violent banging on our door and saw a man with 4 men behind him. He continued banging on the door and trying to get in. After opening the door, the man tried to push past me saying he ‘needed to check out a furnace’. I was on a work call and my wife was doing yoga. To make the event worse, after advising I was on a work call and to come back in ten minutes, the man insisted he come in, even tried pushing past me. I later found out this was the owner. I was planning to stay another day and soak but after having my privacy and safety compromised and the owner blatantly disregarding ‘no’ I won’t ever spend another dime at Pelican Spa nor would I recommend this establishment to anyone. To the owner - I appreciate you having a place to stay in town but you should seriously reconsider how you treat your customers - you frightened us to the point we wanted to leave. When someone says NO it means NO and is not an invitation to try and barrel through. We deserve an apology.

Okay this is going to be a little different for some as it was for me. I booked it at a very reasonable price on hotel.com. the price i paid included all taxes service fees you name it I paid it and it was under $70. It was a cheaper room but it was a unique experience. It was actually four rooms with a small front sitting area living room / bedroom small kitchen very small bathroom with toilet only. I had an outdoor shower with curtains and small privacy fence. It was hot it was fine. They also offer select mineral spa like baths which you can lock. The experience was very unique each of the rooms were done differently sort of in a I would say more like a key West bungalow type of deal. Very unique fun artwork it does have its flaws but the fun cuteness of this outweighs all that. There is a fun little courtyard which we weren't near but I would have recommend that area we did have to walk a little ways to our area. The front desk was very friendly and kind to us. So next time that you're in the Truth or consequences area please be sure to check out the pelican spa definitely different I'm very friendly felt completely safe.

This place is truly a hidden gem. First of all, the rooms are beautiful, fully equipt with cooking gear, and are comfortable and air conditioned. The art in all of the rooms, and really the whole spa in general is unique and captivating. The private bath houses are gorgeous, big, and the water has immense healing powers. The staff is so lovely and kind and accommodating. I can’t speak highly enough of this place- I will be a returning customer for years to come. And can I just say- the amount of beauty, healing, and rejuvenation you get for the price is a STEAL. So impressed. So in love with Pelican spa. Thank you to all those who brought this glorious, charming place to the world 🙏

Room was SO dated, not even just funky. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We stayed at the Pink Pelican. No view, sketchy part of town, local eateries were not very good at all. We're very disappointed after having read glowing reports...wow...how could they be so different? The soaking tubs were a joke. Reminded me of something you might see in an Apocalypse Now scene. Lol! Not a rustic place, just run down and sad. I will say the guy at the front desk was nice enough, so we're the people in town. AC worked, bed was okay, TV didn't work, dishes were dirty, lampshades were stained, bathroom window didn't work and was stuck open, bathroom was dirty. Lots of "rules". So, sorry Pelican! In theory this place must have worked in some long-ago decade, but no longer. Stay at your own risk.

STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK! We stayed in the P.A.M. room #6. The only thing that was clean were the bath towels. And I'm even skeptical about that. Living room hadn’t been dusted in MONTHS! Thick dust on everything. The couch was torn and disgusting. The cushions held together with pins. The entire floor was dirty, rugs were dirty, dishes dirty, sheets dirty. Stains on the walls & ceiling. And the WORST part is this place is INFESTED with GIANT COCKROACHES. Staff tried to tell me they were "water bugs" I know what a roach is, and these were HUGE COCKROACHES! We were told there wasn't any other rooms available, and they would contact management and get back to us later. Still waiting. Absolutely disgusting - we will never stay here again and DO NOT recommend, unless you like filth and cockroaches. I am surprised the Pelican Spa is able to remain open, it should be condemned for its unsanitary conditions and bug infestation.

Overall I'm pretty happy for the price. Rustic, clean and comfortable. Staff is very nice. My only complaint is I booked at the Annex not knowing it's a two minute drive from the hot spring tubs and hard to find on GPS. The mineral baths are cool though. Sorry no pics of the tubs. I'll edit tomorrow with pics. 😎

If ur looking for luxury, this isn't for u. But if u appreciate funky little places with character, you'll probably like the Pelican. Within walking distance of everything in the historic downtown area. Older facility with bare concrete floors and space heaters (but they were more than adequate during the 15° nights while we were there). Our room had a nice kitchenette, sitting area and bedroom. Beds were quite a bit softer than I prefer. There are individual concrete soaking tubs in the main building, which are good for privacy. Nice common sitting/ reading area and outdoor sitting area which is probably very nice in warmer weather.

The hot springs private tubs were AWESOME and I loved the vibe of the property itself. Staff were consistently friendly and cool. There's a dog park within walking distance if you have a pup, the hotel is pet friendly! However, the hotel room I stayed in was honestly disgusting. I don't think the rug had seen a vacuum in years, covered in other guest's crumbs and hairs. The provided dishes were not clean. Finally... the toilet had a s*** stain in it upon arrival and disappeared after one flush - really!? This property could benefit a lot from some more rigorous cleaning and some paint touch ups.

great value for the price, because of the hot spring aspect. we arrived late, but the cool manager guy let us in to use the soaking tub anyway. it was big enough for me and one of my favorite friends i've ever had (julian) to hang out together in. the towels feel crunchy because they let them air dry, which i support.

What a nice little place! I was worried about the low price but I was working with a tight budget... And was not disappointed! I may try other places on my next trip but really this would be a great place for a 3+ day vacation. Our room had a nice kitchenette with fridge and microwave. The outdoor shower surprised me initially but was very refreshing. The hard part was getting out of the hot stream of water! And of course the Japanese style tubs were just a treat. I ran the water a few seconds with the plug open to be sure any other guests' remnants would be rinsed away and then plugged it up. Tub filled so quickly! And it's amazing how heavy and thick the water is, I guess the natural lithium and chloride content acts like additive bath salts. I was very bouyant. It was fun, too. I floated like a log and my girlfriend rotated me and it was really fun and funny. My skin feels amazing, sore joints and muscles alleviated. Pelican Spa is a cute place, I love all the murals. Other bonuses are the restaurants and art galleries in walking distance. Beautiful little town.

It’s eclectic for sure! The rooms are nice sized but the bathrooms are tiny. We stayed in a PAM. The staff is lovely. The soaking is included in your stay or very cheap for non-guests. Pretty much everything you need in the room. We had a full kitchen that was stocked with dishware and silverware. We would most def go again!

I stayed at the Aqua room which has it's own private tub. I very much enjoyed the freedom of soaking whenever I felt like it. The tub is deep enough that when seated it will reach your neck and long enough you can float if you choose to. I'll go back.

10/10 recommend. Came for a quick trip from Albuquerque and it happened to be during our first winter storm as a state. Had a blast was treated really well!!! That morning soak at the pelican that came with the room was absolutely the icing on the cake!!! Warmest soak we had been in the whole trip.

This was a nice place to stay while vacationing last year in New Mexico. The hot mineral baths were great. This was a very affordable place to stay and the rooms were nice and clean as were the mineral baths.

We booked 2 nights here based on reviews. The air conditioning was VERY LOUD and right above the bed. The blanket smelled like urine, there was a dead cockroach on the floor and more dead cockroaches just outside the front door. The bathroom walls were dirty, the nightstand lamp didn't work, the plug for the coffee maker didn't work, there was no drain cover in the shower (just an open hole in the floor). I went at 8 am and asked for a refund for only the second night. The woman at the front desk was very rude and said that there were no refunds whatsoever and the only option was to move to another room. I obviously didn't want to stay at the property again so we left without a refund.

The Pelican Spa is truly a vintage 1950 Hot Springs, NM treasure. The front desk staff is delightful, the rooms are clean, cute and quaint (old) and the facility is pet friendly. And, on my next visit, I will be tempted to try out a hot spa.

I'm going to start with a disclaimer: this place certainly won't be for everyone's tastes. I happen to enjoy a rustic, vintage type of motel with some personality and charm. We arrived and were helped by a nice, friendly person. She even walked us to our room after showing us around the spa area. The hot springs soaking tub rooms were very nice. I'd say the regular tubs could fit up to 1 to 3 average size people comfortably. The community room was cute and cozy. I stayed in a PAM room. It was tidy, and had a small sitting room, bedroom, & kitchenette with sink, microwave, & full size fridge. One funny thing is the shower was outdoors! If that's not comfortable for you, then I recommend showering in the tub rooms at the spa area after a nice soak. I really loved all the unique artwork on every wall. When it comes to hot springs motels in T or C, there are numerous types for nearly every budget and sensibility. If this is not a place you think you could handle, please feel free to find something fancier & pay 4x as much.

Great people, fantastic little hidden jem. Will return again. Hot tubs are clean, and rooms are small and tidy. Love the kitchenette and the direct TV. Highly recommend.

My favorite place in Truth or Consequences to stay for one or several nights. Rooms are all different and eclectic. Soaking tubs are first come l, first serve. For guests you can soak as long as you would like without being timed. My husband and I have been staying here over 10 years and continue to stay elsewhere in T or C. Very Dog friendly walking distance to a great dog park. Walking distance to downtown pubs and entertainment.

Not for the spoiled but definitely for those who appreciate the value in simplicity and classic historical designs. Our room had a small living room and kitchen. The colors reminded me of beach towns I have been in. The mineral hot tubs are an added included bonus when you stay. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

First a chuckle. Unbeknownst to us, our house was offsite which we weren’t psyched about but it was kitschy and fun. It felt like it was in the middle of nowhere and Glasses were dirty but then the decor cheered us up. Do NOT stay at the Pelican for the spa experience. Essentially a Cement tub in a closet… we didn’t even use it. The guy working the desk was sweet. The main hotel was whimsical.

Went for a quick retreat and was super happy with everything available! We took our 2 little dogs and they were welcomed! We never had to wait to soak and the prices were amazing! If you want a quick soak at a reasonable price try this place out!

Beautiful property surrounded by a beautiful landscape. Extremely helpful and courteous staff and owner. Will definitely return every time I'm in the area. I'd stay longer but the rest of the country is calling my name! Til next time!

This place is eclectic and comfortable. We stayed in the Mandarin Suite at the Red Pelican. The room was bright and very inviting. The mattress was very comfortable as well. I spoke to the staff about an issue I had with some items left behind by past patrons, they were very professional and customer oriented. I did not use any of the tubs offered, but I have heard good things about them. Walking distance from many of the places nearby, which is also a plus.

  • 3/5 Mikaela G. 10 months ago on Google
Cool little spot! This was my first time experiencing the hot springs. We stayed over the weekend in the “Blue room” room was ok nothing unexpected. I will note that the mattress kinda sucks and is not fat people friendly. The tubs are nice, love the privacy and that they are indoors. If you get one of the smaller tub rooms it can feel a bit claustrophobic. Overall the location is great and within walking distance of a few local spots. All the staff we encountered during our stay were very friendly and welcoming.

  • 5/5 Sav S. 1 year ago on Google
This is our second time staying. The front desk ladies are straight to business, get you set up with a room, & break everything down for you as far as how everything works. You get unlimited soaks with your stay!! The tubs are large enough to fit 2 people comfortably, water is very hot. There is a 4 person tub as well. Rooms feature local artists artwork which is an extra bonus. Very cute, cozy, & comfortable.

I will not refer anyone to this motel. was very disappointed. I paid for a room for 3 nights. According to their website you could enjoy the spa after hours. Apond arriving there at 7pm I was told I could not get in the spa until tomorrow. That the office closed at 9pm and no longer offered the after hour spa. I went to enjoy the spa on Sunday before leaving Monday traveling 14 hours back home. Walked in and I was told by the front desk that someone had gone in there after hours and burnt up the motor. So there again I was unable to enjoy the spa. I spoke to the manager the next morning about my stay and she was very rude. All they would offer me for my inconvenience was 25% off on my next visit. I explained to her that I wouldn't be coming back up there and all she said was sorry. They really need to update their web site.

  • 5/5 Diane R. 1 year ago on Google
Yes, it's so "hippie" colorful. My room set up is like a cute studio. Plates, cups, microwave, nice table. The spa is delightful. Takes getting use to the water being so hot however timing it to soak helps. I almost could live here for several months.

This is a great place to stay if you are going to be in T or C. Great value, simple rooms and in middle of downtown. The Pelican hot spring tubs are readily available. Also 2 blocks from other hot springs.

We had a wonderful time. I only wish I could have stayed longer. We came too late to soak because we were coming from Colorado Springs. But the morning soak was amazing. My goddaughter hadn't been tho New Mexico before and she loved it. The room was comfortable and cute. Thanks! I will definitely be back.

For an experience along with a great stay, you'll LOVE the Pelican Spa - The Loft! The 1500sqft studio features a kitchen with full size fridge, plenty of seating apace and two king beds! The room is filled with eclectic art and the apace is so fun and inviting!

  • 1/5 Barbara G. 1 year ago on Google
The tubs were out of order during our stay and the only reason this room was booked was for the tubs and not the outdated and well used decore. We did not get a courtesy call notifing us of this problem so we could make a decision of whether we wanted to make the three hour drive to essentially rent a TV and bed for $110.00. There was no discount given at checkout and the manager did not even have the courage be in the office to at least apologize or offer any discounts for the inconvenience. I will not stay there again and do not recommend using this establishment. Terrible customer service.

SUPER AWESOME! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's a lovely place to stay, very homy and most importantly it's sparkling clean. We are lucky to found this hidden gem in town! The service was super super fantastic! Will make sure to be back and recommend to anyone out there if you have a visit in truth or consequences town, please check-in to this sweet Pelican Spa for a memorable and comfortable stay! 💪😍

A favorite spot! First come, first served private baths in the main building, where you can soak for as long as you'd like (and they provide you with reverse osmosis water, which you need when you're sweating in those tubs). I like to get a soak in the evening I arrive and again in the morning :) Funky atmosphere, friendly staff, rooms are clean and large with full kitchen in the Pink Pelican building, and it's super affordable (especially given the additional of hot springs mineral baths).

Have you ever had a soak in a hot spring? Or are you a regular hot spring lover? Either way, the Pelican Spa hot spring experience is lovely, and definitely worth your time. Located conveniently in the center of town in Truth or Consequences New Mexico), known as The Hot spring district), this spa delivers. Like most everything in New Mexico, this spa is quirky, eclectic, and super approachable. The Hot springs are private, and each has a small room with a door that you can latch closed, offering complete privacy. Highly recommended!

Quiet and convenient location with easy access to most of what TorC offers. We have stayed here before and it's definitely an affordable option. The free soaks for guests is pretty great, their tubs are all concrete, private, and sound doesn't really travel. The owner at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have was that the room wasn't very clean: the floors had a lot of crunchies, there were a couple press on fingernails, and there was a visible layer of dust on several surfaces.

  • 5/5 Loretta St M. 2 years ago on Google
We found this place by accident. What a wonderful place! I could easily stay for a week. The Turquoise Suite was incredible. Neat, clean and had everything you could need. Plus cool original retro furniture. Affordable too. The hot tubs are the best ones I’ve seen. Very large and deep. Each in its own room. No time limit. All are empty till you fill up! They fill fast, like a fire hose of hot water. There is cold water available to adjust temperature because the hot mineral water is approximately 105° F. Towels are available everywhere, nice fluffy ones. Tubs are available to guests 24 hrs a day and we have a key to the tubs. Too much fun! I’ll be back.

Review for Pink Pelican #3: Everyone was friendly during check-in. The room was kitschy and comfortable with a separate kitchenette complete with coffee maker, coffee, fridge, and microwave. The bathroom was tiny, but clean. We could park right up against the backyard fence and dry our towels on the convenient clothes line. Many food, drink and shopping options within walking distance. The spa was clean and comfortable with concrete soaking tubs, towels and drinking water. Our tub had plenty of room for two and the shower was refreshing after our soak. Overall, we achieved our goal to relax and refresh during our weekend stay. We will be back!
