I have seen the previous reviews - some folks are “entitled” to an opinion. I found we could not give the same poor rating as that was not our experience. We stayed a night and enjoyed a nice walk to the lake at dusk. I appreciated the quiet. The sunrise was awesome if not chilly (😆). Seriously Justin and the team did make us feel safe and secure. The room was clean and bathroom spotless. The restaurant was closed - the only negative. (To make a joke of previous reviews, we did not die, wildlife did not hunt us, camping in car would not of been better, nothing wrong with room). No locusts, earthquakes, and the moon did not turn red. 5 stars, no, 4 stars, a strong yes! I would stay again.

Website hasn’t been updated since 2020 to reflect the closed pool, spa and no free breakfast (the restaurant/bar are permanently closed). I’ve stayed several times over the last three years and if you need to be in Elephant Butte - this is about it. Truth or Consequences has more options but is a 15 minute commute. The rooms are dated but fine for a weekend at the lake or exploring - just make sure to address issues with mgmt. prior to them going to bed. Heard the investors story several times but that is usually a local urban legend (2019-2023 nothing has changed)…

For a camping community, it was pretty ok (peaceful). The room was a little pricey for non-peak days, 2 night for 234 dollars. We could tell that this may have at one time been the spot to be. But the restaurant and pool are closed until further notice (pretty sure it is because they only have 3 employees/co-owners). They are advertising open positions, so I pray that they get a full size staff: house keepers and a lawn/maintenance team. Until they are back up to at least 90% functionality, they should change the website to reflect what they currently have as far as amenities so that travelers are not expecting something they wont get.

Room was disgusting upon arriving in the night. No one was available at the front desk to get clean linens. Bathroom full of hair. Floors clearly not been mopped. Towels were disgusting. Pillows had mascara on them. Smelled of another’s head. Had to rent a different room in t or c and drag my 7 month baby to a comfort in. Because no one was there to assist us. Upon calling this morning the owner was extremely rude and said it’s my fault because we had not inspected the room at check in. And his hands are tied. We have always used this inn and are extremely let down at the lack of care. This place used to be wonderful to stay. It was empty and we should’ve taken that at a warning not to stay there. Will not be returning. We miss the old inn.

Place is run down, dirty, smells bad. Room had used, dirty towels hung, half used toiletries in bathroom, no breakfast, have to pay for ice. I would not stay again, even for free.

Room was unbearable. We left at night to get a different room in T or C. No one answered when we tried to complain. No one at front desk.

Very Friendly Staff. I was in a tight situation but they worked with me to get a room. Room was clean and quiet. No complaints to be found.

Rooms are old and out dated. Grass is overgrown and trashes are over flowing. Was informed the day of checking that there was no restaurant and pool was closed, vending machines broken. Can barley see the Butte from the hotel even though it said lake side. The doors were glass and you had to pull the curtain to cover it. Stains on the sheets, I didn't want to touch anything. Room had a funny scent. Went yo Walmart in T or C to buy air freshener. Was not worth the $150, pics on website, I'd like to know where those came from. My room was worse that a road side motel.

This place is an absolute hidden gem. The room is immaculate and the view is gorgeous -- Less than a mile from the lake. The building has an old resort vibe, but the updates to the rooms make things super comfortable.

Coffee service in room. Iron with ironing board and free morning breakfast! I would stay again...

The restaurant was closed and also the pool but we have heard changes are coming from investors. Room was nice and loved the view. Hoping some Investment will bring back the area.

Room was immaculately clean and beautiful. My husband and I, and our doggy loved our quiet, warm stay. Staff were friendly and kind. After a night of camping at elephant Butte lake the previous day, our stay was perfectly comfortable.

Best hotel at Elephant Butte.... rooms are as good as they get for when they were originally built. Price is fair, definitely better than camping on those hot summer days. And definitely better than sleeping on the ground

If this is your only option….save your money and sleep in your car. Heat did not work. Leaking toilet causes water to kick on every 30 seconds. People next door were loud all night . Horrible night.

Do not be fooled by the website! The pool is no longer in use. There is no longer a restaurant or spa. The room was decent but nothing special. The view of the lake was okay but hard to see. I would not recommend.

Stopped here very late, too tired to keep driving. Woke up the on-site night manager. He was very nice, checked us in, and even turned on the light and heat in the room while we were unloading the car. Clean, simple room. Exceptional service, Highly recommend!

There's no breakfast and the pool has been closed for years apparently, contrary to online listings. Rooms and surroundings are dated and well-worn.

This place was amazing. We got the lake side king room and the morning view was lovely. There wasn't very many people here so it wasn't loud. I think we will stay again in the future. Had a wonderful time.

I’m not a picky person but ohhh my god. Cockroaches on the stairs, dirt on the toilet, hair in AND on the toilet, hair in the bed, dirt on the mirrors, fingerprints on everything. Horrible smell. The spa and the restaurant are both permanently closed even though they advertise as having both under their amenities. What a truly strange and disgusting time.

Clean and very comfortable room!! Very pleased with our two night stay!! There were people out on the decks from other rooms both nights with music and enjoying themselves… once we closed our door.., we had nice quiet room!! 🤗

Our room had grass all over the carpet, so I looked under the bed and there was bloody tissues, water bottles, and all sorts of trash. I didn't feel safe there. Front desk staff was friendly, and I only saw 1 cockroach in the bathroom. You can tell at one time it was a nice place, but not anymore.

Breakfast was closed until further notice, would have been nice to know before booking. Rooms were decent. You get what you pay for.

It was clean and nice and the gentleman who checked us in was nice, and even ran out to return my hat when I nearly left without it. It's very close to the lake. Only complaint is that the heating/cooling unit is extremely loud. They provide enough blankets to keep warm without it. Would stay again.

Very positive experience. Very clean room. Very quiet. I would definitely stay there again. I'm sure that it would be a great place during the summer months. The view of the lake must be spectacular in the evening.
