FANTASTIC DIVE SCHOOL!! We got incredible 1-2-1 detailed training from the best instructor Lucky! It was of the highest safety standards and quality of training. So much fun and super comfortable/relaxing for those who haven’t ever dived before. If you want personal and uncrowded facilities, defintely go here over the beachfront dive schools. Everything was perfect, we extended our stay twice so we can do more and more dives. The owner John is also so down to earth and every member of staff is super passionate and accommodating as well! Can’t praise this place enough! :) Thank you Compass Divers for the best experience!!!!

Furthermore, Gili Trawangan in general has a wonderfully chill atmosphere. The diving experience here is simply top-notch. If you're looking for a memorable diving adventure combined with a laid-back vibe, Divers Compass is the place to be.

Choosing Compass Divers as a diving school and hostel was the best decision I could make. The school is not on the main street so it is significantly less crowded and they have a very personal approach. I have never dived before and due to chronic issues with my ear (problem when equalizing during flight) I was quite scared of my first dive and how my body reacts to it. I was lucky to get Lucky (yes, it is his real name!) as my instructor 🙌 he was extremely calm and patient, took all my fears into consideration and ensured that I wouldn't have any issues while going under water. After the first dive, everything went smoothly - thanks to Lucky and his continued support I managed to complete the Open Waters course and enjoy every minute of it 🤩 !!! Staying at Compass divers hostel was an additional benefit as the place is where all the courses start, it is very clean and calm. the receptionist Ika is the nicest person ever and there are 4 cats coming with her to the hostel every day ❤️ breakfast was made fresh and everyone was so helpful and smiling. it felt like home far away from home 😊

Nice room with love for the detail and everything clean. I love the vibe of this hostel and the stuff. I also had my first dive here and could see the stunning maritime environment. I immediately felt safe and comfortable with me teacher Yadi (he maybe had to be patient with me) and extended from the discovery dive first to the open water course and later to the advanced course. No matter if it’s your first time diving or being already experienced, I can recommend this place.

Had a great experience doing my open water course here with Lucky. We were a small group (two people), which I much preferred. They are able to strike a great balance between being serious and safe about diving and being a friendly place to feel at home at. The diving was fun, would recommend!

If you’re wondering which company to dive with on Gili T, this is the one! My boyfriend and I recently did our Open Water course and enjoyed every minute of the experience. Our instructor Lucky was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough- we felt safe and supported throughout the whole experience. Even the times between dives hanging out at Compass provided some sweet memories! We can’t thank Lucky, John and the Compass staff enough for the experience of a lifetime!

This hotel was super fab ! Stayed here for 3 nights in June 2022 and was absolutely blown away by how friendly and helpful the staff were :)) if you’re looking for a chill diving hostel that’s not so much a party hotspot Compass Divers is 4 u. Also got a discount on our accommodation when we dived with them - not only was the diving instructor Lucky the best dude ever but he took us to some great dive sites and was slay to dive with. Rooms were cozy but had everything you could need, and the hostel itself is located super close to the hubub of the East side of the island. All in all go stay here 🫶🏻😌

Compass divers is excellent in every way. Great location on the island, great accomodation, fantastic pool and the staff are incredibly friendly and most importantly, really helpful. Jon the manager is a pleasure to speak to and is a great host. I made 3 dives on consecutive days, each time with a different dive master. All of them being very knowledgable of the local sea life and experts in their local dive sites. All in all, it was a pleasure staying here and would recommend it highly.

Got my open water divers license at Compass divers. I would definitely recommend this place. The staff is very kind and helpful. Lucky is the nicest diver instructor. Very calm and always making sure you're fine while diving.

Stayed at Broken Compass, took my OWC diver course here. Great instruction from Made, and very flexible with our schedule. The course was enjoyable, we saw lots of sea turtles and two sharks!! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to become certified or trying diving

Me & my Boyfriend did the Discover Scuba Diving Course and absoluteley loved it. He ended up doing the Open Water Course afterwards. The team and especially our instructor "Lucky" were awesome! Everyone was so friendly and nice and we felt very comfortable. Can't recommend this place enough! :)

Great place. The crew is amazing. We did the Padi course and we like it that much we did a deep dive too. The hotel is really clean and the shower is properly hot. Defitnetly would recommend.

I went diving for the first time at Compass Divers and so happy that I did! I went for a Discovery “Try” Dive. My instructor Yadhi was very knowledgeable and patient. I was nervous to get into the ocean, but he reassured that I did well in the pool session. The ocean dive was awesome and I appreciated seeing Yadhi pick up some garbage we found near some coral. The equipment was very well maintained and the bathrooms were very clean. I would definitely come back to Compass Divers to get my certification!

First off, Gili T as a whole is doing great even post earthquake. Do not let that stop you from coming! The diving school and especially the instructor, Made, was great. Had a great day diving with compass divers! Sebastian and Olivia are amazing, I got lucky and had 2 instructors on my second dive to point out cool stuff. I like that they keep the groups smalls, it was just me...so even better. Also really appreciate they had me inspect my gear before leaving the shop unlike most dive shops that just throw your BC on you and push you in the water. I was also super impressed how beautiful the shop was, I never wanted to leave the comfy bean bags after my dives. Also the equipment was all new and well kept. Could not recommend them enough, if you come to Gili T go dive with them!!!!

Such an amazing team who makes you feel right at home. Really professional and welcoming. Originally went for my open water, stayed to do my advanced and then came back less than a week later to so some more courses. Rooms and accommodation is also great value for money! Nana, Seb, Ika and everyone else, thanks for making it the highlight of my trip!!

Dive was awesome, instructor Nana, made us feel very comfortable and explained everything from a-z. It was our first time but we really enjoyed it and felt very confident with her next to us. Gear was good quality, everything was on time and well scheduled. 5 stars!

This was my fifth hostel in SE Asia and the best by far. Ika, the receptionist, goes above and beyond to help you. She has helped with transfers, laundry, finding somewhere else to stay on Gili T when I wasn’t able to extend due to being fully booked. The rest of the staff are so warm and friendly. I had a private room and it was modern, clean and spacious. I would definitely stay here again. It’s a social vibe without being loud at the hostel itself. Everyone is friendly at breakfast. Thanks guys!

The most amazing Hostel and Diver shop in all of Gili Trawangan. First of, the accommodation: Rooms are clean, pretty up to date. Clean sheets, and an inviting environment! Rooftop to chill at, bean bags all around and the most amazing staff. Best pool we’ve had in all of Indonesia. Ok internet as well. We had the private room with our own really nice bathroom, but the common dorms and bathroom were really nice. Location, perfect, close to all you can ever want. Staff has great recommendations. You can also rent a bike from the for pretty cheap. Now the good stuff! The environment and awesome people there made us want to take out Open water divers licenses. It’s one of the cheaper places to do it and the marine life is some of the best I’ve ever seen. We had the best instructors. Lucky, such a cool and composed dude. Did everything in a perfect pace and was so understandable. He loves his job and making peoples experience the best they could be. Such a good human in general <3 Rozie, an amazing, international, experienced dude. So much fun to hang around with and gets so exited on dives. Has the best stories and life experiences. Samsul. What a kind human, fun and playful. Felt really safe around him and a fun dude! And the best of all. They are so so good at their job. Could not recommend this place more. The prices are fair and you get discounts for doing X amounts of things, as well on accommodation if you dive while living there. Will be back.

Stayed at compass hostel for 4 nights, and had such an amazing time. The diving and snorkeling were so great, saw some amazing things, and met some great people. The instructors are amazing and willing to help you with everything. Lucky taught me how to burn my mask, and Ros tried to organise some other activities for me. Ika has an infectious personality and will also help you with everything from renting bikes to recommendations for other islands. All of the other staff are also very friendly and really make the effort to learn your name which makes everything feel so personal and familial. This has been our favourite place to stay in a month long trip so far. Thank you for everything 💜

The team here are so lovely and make you feel just at home. The rooms and facilities are clean, tidy and well set up. Ika is a protector and nurturer towards every human and cat that steps foot into this hostel, she adds so much value to the great culture here. Lucky, samsul, oj and the rest of the dive crew are also just as incredible. I did my open water diver certificate here and the team was so caring, passionate and helpful in helping me succeed. Everyone makes an effort to remember your name and where you are from and I think small efforts like that make a huge difference. Would gladly stay again and look forward to the day that I’m back. What an awesome community.

Honestly just the best! Jon, the owner, was prompt and helpful with communicating with me over email to get me set up with starting the Open water level 1 course just a few days later and helping me work out accommodation at their sister hostel (Broken Compass- also great!) Lucky was my instructor for the course and I could not have had a better experience. He was very patient and always caring and checking that I was safe and comfortable. I had some anxiety and aborted a couple dives, and he was always there to talk to me and give me tips to help me feel safe. He was encouraging without putting any pressure, he genuinely wants everyone to experience the joy and tranquility that he experiences when he dives. The entire Compass Dive staff and crew are amazing, kind and warm people. I felt so taken care of at all times. I definitely plan to be back someday and feel confident to dive in other places with my certification!

we had such an amazing experience here !! the hostel is great it’s so friendly we went on 2 dives - one with samsul and one with lucky - we felt really comfortable, and the guys were super helpful ! we also did our first night dive here and it was incredible, they really made sure we saw everything & that we knew what to look for sad we had to leave but will definitely be back in the future !! :))

I did two fun dives with Compass Divers and would definitely do more if I had time. It was easy to book and communicate thru WhatsApp, everybody in the diveshop was really nice, friendly and helpful. My guide Iris was very professional, caring and friendly, amazing dives with her at Turtle heaven and Shark point. The dive shop facilities are stunning and all the equipment in great condition.

Very happy to have chosen Compass Divers for our unique night in Gili T. The staff is so nice and helpful, they know everything about the island and can help you for any request (mainly for a perfect sunset spot ;) ). The diving and snorkeling crew is so nice and friendly. You will, for sure, enjoy your excursion. We booked a private room that was nicely decorated with a beautiful bathroom. The breakfast was good too!

The guide with whom we were twinned was super dangerous. He was pulling my friend down when she said she had problems with her ears and he was supervising so badly that she ran out of air for her safety stop and it was another tourist who had to help her. The student guide was hangover and took care of nothing. There is no atmosphere and they do not make the experience pleasant, but rather stressful.

Best place to dive! I couldn’t have asked for a better dive master than Rosie for my first dive ever. Extremely supportive, friendly, positive vibes and great passion for diving. You’ll be inspired to dive for the rest of your life!

We visited Gili T right before the earthquakes. I'm a certified diver but my friends were first timers and all of us are so happy with the instructors Made & Samy. They trained everyone so well and made us all quite comfortable. We went to the Meno slope for the dive and it was beautiful. Samy would find us giant turtles and it was great to see many fishes and corals then. The equipment was new and well maintained. Loved every bit of it!

Compass is a typical dive hostel. I was not in dive mode but really enjoyed it here for 3 days. The hostel is clean. The hosts are friendly and helpful. A simple and good breakfast with pancakes and fruit. The hostel is centrally and perfectly located in the back street off the main street and the rooms are quiet at night.

Its a small and nice diving school. I had only one fundive but staff was very frienfly and I had a really good ecperience

I have booked a diving session with some friends while we were at Gili and we had an amazing experience. Very professional people and welcoming. I have already the diving certificate but for my friends it was the first time and they enjoyed it a lot. They gathered the necessary information and to proceed with their first diving, as well as they got the support they needed to loose the initial fear. I suggest this place if you are in Gili and you would like to dive there or try it for the first time.

The perfect hostel to stay in the heart of Gili T, rooms were great and the pool was the perfect temp for a dip! But let me tell you about the service (with a smile EVERYTIME!!!!) and the nicest of people that you'll feel like shedding a tear over leaving at the end of your stay (me.... extending my trip to Gili by 3/4 days because it was just THAT good and the place felt like home because of the legends that work there! BIGGGGGEST SHOUTOUT to my dive master Lucky, hands down one of the NICEST people I have ever met and made me feel so calm, supported and safe through every step of my dive certificate. Special mention to Samsul and Roz as well, grateful to have such knowledgable and experienced people taking my through the course. Big thank you to all the warm and caring boat crew too! FONDEST of memories in Gili T because of these people. Would (and already have) recommend to anyone and everyone!!!
