Cool place because that’s where turtles go to recover but it was very murky and there were no turtles when i went

There are no turtles to be seen and the water seems stagnant. However, it's evident that efforts are being made to clean up the place, perhaps as part of the Port upgrade. Perhaps come back in a year 🙂

This place is free to visit. It is a pond on the waterfront portside of Tonga's main island, Tongtapu, in the city of Nuku'alofa. The pond is designed for turtles who have been injured. Locals place the turtles there to recover, and to care for them, so it is not an official sanctuary. It looks like a stagnant pond with murky water. Unfortunately there is a lot of trash around. I did not see any turtles when I visited.

Dirty if you are from the EU. Clean if you are from Latin America. There are indeed 2 turtles in a very big lake. I waited for 1 hour and I did not see them. People are friendly

Brud, smród, kiła i mogiła. Żółwi nie widziałem, natomiast szczury i owszem.

👍👍 A bit tricky to find if you organise it yourself - the taxi driver needed guidance from the GPS and even then dropped me off at the wrong entrance, however once there I had an amazing experience. I was the only solo traveller that had shown up for that afternoon but was joined by a large group of Ge...
