Beautiful medieval cathedral. Downstairs you have remainings of old church. You must visit it if you are in Skara...

Pretty nice cathedral (also in winter, because benches for congregation are heated). If someone is interested in architecture, it's a necessary point to visit in Skara. Building is oper for visitors and most incredible thing in it (in my opinion) is a toilet inside (usually churches don't have toilets).

As cathedrals go, this is good. Modern digital screens on the pillars and some guys remains still in the building thanks to his impressive donation to the cathedral. Dressing up for kids and adults as clergy. Helpful printed papers about all the windows. No clear gospel message that I could see.

This is one of in total 15 main cathedrals in the Church of Sweden. The diocese of Skara is the oldest diocese. Before you enter the church there is a list of all bishops in the diocese since the year of 1000 AD. You are free to enter the church without any fee daytime. Outside the church there is around 15 parking lots where you park your car for two or three hours without any fee.

Very beautiful church. It was quiet when we visited. There's also a nice exposition section with a lot of background information. Highly recommended to visit when you are in Skara.

Its history is traced from the 10th century[a], but its current appearance in the Gothic style originated in the 13th century. The choir dates back to the early 13th century, whilst the transept and nave took shape a century later. The cathedral was damaged and restored on several occasions, making its current appearance rather modern. In the 1760s, it was given a baroque southern facade. The current Gothic Revival design dates to restorations in 1886–1894 under architect Helgo Zettervall (1831–1907). The previously flat twin towers were given pointed Gothic spires. Skara Cathedral (Swedish: Skara domkyrka) is a church in the town of Skara, Sweden. The cathedral is the seat for the bishop of the Diocese of Skara of the Church of Sweden
