Pretty but you can't go in the grounds or palace except 4 days of the year. The best views are from the linear Park just beyond the palace gates heading out of town. Nice Park with River and sculptures by the way.

Tourists are not allowed to go inside except during Raya where the King & Queen will organise open house for the local people to have their meal feast. So you just pretty much take the pics outside the gate and watch the royal family member go in or out of the palace. The guard is quite friendly too. So I basically spend like 10mins here just to take pics and have a small talk with the guards over there.

The biggest palace in the world! Dibuka untuk umum saat Hari Raya Idul Fitri (H+2 dan 3) . Segala jamuan bisa kita dapatkan for free . Dan dapat bingkisan dari Sultan yang dibungkus dalam box cantik untuk kenangan .

Very big palace but tourists were allowed only at the outer gate (main entrance). There is another layer of gate guarded by armed military personnel. The outer gate's royal guard was very friendly and sometime you'll be allowed to take a group photo with him.

Istana Nurul Iman was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest living residence of a state head. Indeed, it is the biggest palace and royal residence of the world. This massive royal dwelling is several times larger than the Palace of Versailles and the Buckingham Palace. The Palace is the house of Brunei’s sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The palace stands on the banks of the Brunei River, several kilometers south of Brunei’s capital. Istana Nurul Iman is a massive white construction with golden domes and minarets. Breathtaking views of the palace open from the nearby Persiaran Damuan Park. Curved roofs of the buildings and the huge golden dome of the palace mosque rise over green trees. It is also worth to enjoy the looks of this extravagant palace while taking a boat trip on Brunei River. The name of Istana Nurul Iman means Palace (from Malay Istana) of the Light of Faith (Arabic` Nurul Iman). The palace was built in two years and finished to the attainment of Brunei’s independence from Britain on January 1st 1984. More than 1 billion dollars were spent on its construction. The architect of the Palace’s exterior was Leonardo V. Locsin, who tried to unify Brunei’s Islamic and Malay architectural traditions in the design of Nurul Iman. The designer of the interior was Khuan Chew, who also worked on the construction of Burj Al Arab in Dubai. The architecture of the Sultan’s residence is a blend of European and traditional Malay architecture. The traditional architecture is mixed with ultra-modern luxurious decor: Italian marble, granite from Shanghai, English glass and the best Chinese silk. Gold and marble were the main decoration materials of the Palace. 38 different kinds of marble were used for the decoration of its interior. There are 44 staircases made from marble. The Palace contains 1788 premises. The whole palace contains 200,000 square meters of space. The mosque of the palace can accommodate up to 1500 people, while the banquet hall can provide space for over 5000 guests. The palace even has a helipad, 5 swimming pools and more than 250 bathrooms. Istana Nurul Iman is the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei and his family, as well as the location of the senior government offices of the country. The palace is hosting the most important governmental bodies, including the office of Brunei’s prime-minister.

Returned here after 16 years. Beautiful palace with beautiful garden. You can only enter during Hari Raya Ied 2,3,4 because the Sultan holds an "open house"

Great way to experience the culture of this kingdom and food from this country. Different tastes of food, people and building structure as compared to european palaces. Worth a visit.

Good only for ticking off that check box of yours (Brunei sultan palace). If this is not one of those 3 days in the year when the palace is open for the public, there's only an entrance gate that you can see. Away from other points of interest, too... so I wouldn't prioritise this one if I had a second chance.

It’s Brunei Sultan’s residence and tourists can only enter it during Raya, when there is an open house organised. It’s a huge place though with beautiful gardens. Spend around 5-7 minutes here

This is His Majesty Sultan Hassan the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam official residence. It’s majestic and beautiful place. I had the honour to go there with my father and two boys and shake his majesty and his family hand at Second day of Shawwal of Eid Alfitr (they locally call it Hari Raya), where he opens his palace for all visitors to enjoy breakfast and have a chance to shake his hand and meet him in person. You will be also provided with nice surprise gifts.

The Astana Noor Al Ayman (Istana Nurul Iman) is the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, and the seat of the Brunei government. The palace is located on a leafy, riverside sprawl of hills on the banks of the Brunei River, a few kilometers southwest of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei's capital city. It is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest palace in the world. This house is painted white, but the golden dome and minaret stand out from afar. The dome is decorated with 22-carat gold. The Sultan's family resides in this house, which was completed in 1984. It was designed by Khuan Chew while it was built by architect Leandro Locsin. According to an estimate, one billion and 40 million dollars were spent on the construction of this palace. Spread over an area of 21 lakh 52 thousand 782 square feet, this palace has 1788 rooms and more than 257 bathrooms. Its banquet hall is so big that more than 5 thousand people can be invited there at a time. Similarly, 110 vehicles can be parked in the garage of the palace while 5 huge swimming pools are also present here. An air-conditioned stable for horses, a huge mosque and 18 lifts are also part of the palace. There are 564 chandeliers inside the palace building and only 3 days (on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr) in a year the common people are allowed inside. It is believed that the price of this palace is 2.55 billion dollars but this is an unconfirmed estimate. Not only is the Sultan of Brunei's palace the largest in the world, but his collection of cars is also staggering. The most Rolls Royce vehicles in the world are owned by the Sultan of Brunei, a Guinness World Records record held in his name in 2011. According to an estimate, the total value of the cars of the Sultan of Brunei is 3 to 4 billion dollars.

The place is spectacular. Futhermore, have you heard about the conference "Global Crisis. Who is the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for us?", which will be held on December 10, 2022? Muslims from different countries of the world are preparing this conference for Muslims.
