Really nice museum that keeps expanding and growing. They sell themselves as “nonprofit organization” where everything that they collect is used to expand and fund the museum. Such a young museum and yet already owns a master piece, that also became the reason to be founded. The “Kronosaurus Boyacensis”. Unique of its kind, well kind of, there are other that were found but what makes this one unique is how complete it is and that was kept through the years in the exact same place where it was found! Quite impressive! The ticket price is average and I strongly recommend to wait until the tour, our guide was professional and knew a lot. The museum can be quickly see, you get a brief introduction and then it goes straight to the point. I really recommend the visit. Also, there are some nice souvenirs made my locals that use the profits to help their families. They appreciate any contribution that can made. :)

About 5-6km from Villa de Leyva, we cycled, you just need to climb over a hill. Its a small museum, apart from the big fossil there is not that much to see. The signs are in Spanish and English. Good for about 30min visit. There’s another little fossil museum on the main road, it’s a pity they don’t offer a combination-ticket to view both

Great fossil museum. If you are interested in it you find here unique and well preserved fossils. Also here lay almost full and original fossil of Kronosaurus. It's very impressive. Enterace costed 30.000 COP. You can also buy some unique small fossils in the souvenir shop.

This museum features the skeleton of a Kronosaurus, over 100 million years old. It is a guided tour, with information about this part of Columbia and the prehistoric animals that lived here. It’s a nice little tour.

Impressive community museum, with a complete fossil of Kronosaurus boyacensis, quite unique, and other fossils found in the area. Our guide was a smart young woman from the community. Highly recommended!

The prices aren't noted at the entrance of the museum. We payed 20k/people > don't know if this is the correct price. The main fossil is great, the others parts of the museum aren't really interesting.

Incredibly interesting! First, the in situ kronosaur was amazing. So big that I had to take a diagonal photo to fit ït in the photo. Secondly, my eyes typically glaze over very quickly in museums and don't read many of the informational displays. I read almost everything because it was presented in a fascinating way.

I love a location where they build the museum around the fossil! It is incredibly well done with good context! Every sign is in Spanish and English. They have a collection of items from all over Columbia, though mostly from their local area. It is still an impressive collection. Some displays were still under renovation when we were there. They loaned us a wheelchair for my mother without a deposit.

Pretty amazing and there was absolutely no one there but me and my friends due to the decrease in tourism during these Covid times. Everyone who works there is pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced souvenirs too.

They need tailor the tours more towards children. The lady stars by talking about a Kronosaurus but doesn't even explain what it is, despite of having kids in the group. The museum should also have a part explaining the process of excavation, etc. Otherwise it is a bit boring overall.

Very fascinating museum built around a massive Kronosaurus fossil. About a 1hr walk from Villa de Leyva along dirt roads and the highway, but just follow the directions and you’ll make it there! Entrance fee was 10,000 COP

Incredible place and cute museum. It makes my heart bleed to see how they encased the Kronosaurus in a strange plastered floor, but at least they saved it from being stolen and brought in some moist european capital

Incredible story. The guides through the tiny museum are fantastic. The history of the planet revealed in a small way with the creation of the Andes in Colombia. Farming at its best and the discovery of the kronosauras, one of only four fossils in the world at this location.

Beautiful museum where you can see fossils of ammonites and other ancient species of animals and plants. The fossil of the monquirasaurus is remarkable. You’ll spend around a 1-1.5 hours here.

I give props to this place. It was built and is run by the local community. In other words, it does not have any funding by the Colombian government. It is small, but organized and informative. There is a guided tour in Spanish, but I don't know if there is a tour in English. Anyway, I learned a lot about the prehistory of the region.
